Stopped by Luna Blu on Saturday, May 30 on our 6 mile walk and had a pretty good expereince overall. The location is awsome, right on the water in Tiburon, and the vibe is cozy without feeling cramped. Seating is a little tight, but honestly it kinda adds to the charm. There's one huge unisex bathroom tucked right behind the bar, which was surprisingly clean and easy to find. The back patio is probly the highlight. On a clear day you get amazing views of Angel Island and SF, hard to beat while having lunch or a drink. Food was solid. Kitchen does a decent job, although they seem to miss order details every now and then. I ordered a medium rare burger and it came out well done. Before I even had a chance to make a big deal about it, our server noticed and brought a replacement burger out pretty quick. That was super thoughtful and showed they actually care about the customer experiance. Not perfect, but good food, great views, and staff that are willing to make things right. We went there to celebrate our anniversary, big mistake. Extremely overpriced. That would have been okay with us since we wanted to treat ourselves for our anniversary to a nice dinner with a beautiful view, but that didn't happen. I ordered fish, and it was the smallest piece I've ever had. My husband had pasta with shrimp; unfortunately, they used the smallest and cheapest shrimp available. The Caesar salad was nothing special, no flavor, and we had to ask for extra dressing. The calamari appetizer didn't look appealing and lacked a fresh, vibrant color. Nothing was included with my $44 fish dish, so I had to order a side of roasted potatoes for extra $8, which were not fresh at all. When I asked our waiter, he said they make them daily, which likely means they were made anytime in the morning. Overall, it was not worth the $198 we spent on a tasteless dinner. Very disappointed that we chose Luna Blu for our special day, and we will definitely not be going back. Basically, you're paying for the view. read more

I think the food is good but not great. There is bread service available and a corkage for $42. Weather played a role in the 4 star rating as the evening was lovely. It was a beautiful day to have lunch at Luna Blu on the patio. The sun was out and the perfect breeze to sip on chilled Sauvignon Blanc. Perfect afternoon escape. We started off with the squid ink seafood pasta and the marinara meatballs. The pasta was a little too textured for me. I like my pasta a little soft but still tasty! The seafood was fresh! The meatballs were made of filet mignon steak. The service was quick and friendly. The perfect afternoon with good food. It's one of those places that makes you want to linger a little longer. My friends and I came to Tiburon to bask in the unexpected pristine weather this Sunday. And, initially, my party set our sights on Malibu Farm, the health-conscious transplant from its SoCal namesake city. But with a one-hour wait at peak lunch hour, we pivoted and wound up at Luna Blu on a whim which was a fortunate detour as it turns out. The restaurant, perched by the waterfront, had a spread of empty tables so we had our pick of the litter. Ultimately, we settled into an outdoor spot decked out with ocean views, soft blankets, and overhead heaters. The menu though, like the Tiburon tide, ebbs on the pricier end with their salads and sandwiches cresting the $20 mark. I'm a sucker for a beet salad, so I ordered the Barbabietole, an aptly named dish (Barbabietola translates to beet I think?) featuring thick ruby-red beet slices layered with hazelnuts and an generous, indulgent amount of goat cheese. Would I eagerly fork over $21 for it again? Prob not, but in an era where affordable brunch becomes more and more elusive (thanks Trump tariffs!), I can't say I'm shocked. The food is okay. Not bad, but not particularly good for the price. The dining area is decent, but the view of the bay is a bit obscured. We've been there a couple of times now since there aren't many other options in the area. On our most-recent visit though, what was initially an underwhelming experience became much worse. My dining partner found a piece of wire at the bottom of the Cioppino, like what you'd find on a grill brush. This was concerning, though they did take half off that dish on the final bill. The service seemed to be pretty indifferent the whole time. When we got home, we then found that Luna Blu had reported us as a "no-show" to our reservation to OpenTable. We had arrived right on time. When we followed-up to correct that, we were told we had to provide additional proof and undergo an escalating appeals process. Unfortunately, given these issues, we don't plan to return. read more

Date of Visit: 8/24/2024 We visited the Italian restaurant Luna Blu located on Main Street in Tiburon last Saturday afternoon. The weather was very nice on the day, not windy and the temperature was warm and comfortable. Luna Blu was established in 2013, the couple owner Renzo and Crystal Azzarello was impressed by the romantic atmosphere in Tiburon and decided to open this nice restaurant by the shore. The name Luna Blu means blue moon in Italian, which relates to their honeymoon and also something special and rare. Triple Espresso Martini $15 I got the espresso martini. Love the taste and the creamy texture of this cocktail. Sunset in Tiburon $15 Husband got the sunset in Tiburon. This cocktail was made with 2 different rums, mixed with pineapple juice, orange juice, and grenadine and layered into a beautiful sunset. Polipo Alla Griglia $20 We got the grilled octopus as the appetizer. The octopus tentacle was chewy and soft. On the side it was bell pepper sauce and lime aioli. Linguine Alle Vongole $31 I got the linguine pasta with fresh manila clams and cherry tomatoes. The linguine was tasty and got a touch of chili flakes. Risotto Prosciutto E Gamberi $34 Husband got the Parmesan Cheese risotto with tiger prawns and wrapped in Prosciutto Di Parma. Chocolate Martini $15 We got the chocolate martini to pair with our dessert. Mixed with chocolate vodka and Dorda Double chocolate liqueur, and very rich and creamy with chocolate rimmed glass. Mocha Tiramisu $12 One of my favorite desserts is the tiramisu. The mocha tiramisu was homemade with ladyfingers soaked in espresso, and layered with mascarpone and chocolate mousse. We had a romantic Valentine's Day outside under the stars and a warm heater. The menu was a special Valentine's Day menu with new dishes we haven't had before. I had the beet pasta with crab in a champagne sauce. OMG it was Phenomenal!! I'm not a beet person but damn this dish completely changed my mind! My hubby had the tortellini with beef - YUM! Just eat at Bungalow. The caesar salad was bland and uneventful, the tuna tartar had more avocado than tuna and the fresh ciabatta rolls were clearly store bought. The one highlight was the lobster ravioli, but only in terms of taste. The dish itself was seven pieces of small to medium ravioli for 35 dollars. We also enjoyed our cocktails and the service was friendly. The prices are only slightly less than Bungalow which, for the difference in quality, simply isn't worth it. read more

My husband and I first came here to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary, and we had an amazing time. We returned today to celebrate Valentine's Day a couple of days late. We were seated at a lovely table by the water, enjoying a beautiful view! Our waiter was such a nice guy; I think his name was Elvin (I hope I'm spelling it correctly). The gentleman who cleared our dirty dishes was William, and he was very nice as well. Our food was delicious, and we genuinely had a great time. Luna Blu was great. We booked for 8, but last minute my wife wasn't feeling well and another mom in our group was unwell, so it ended up being just 3 of us. Our daughter was sad her cousin couldn't come, but the staff was super chill and updated our res with no issue--all through OpenTable messaging. We got stuck in traffic on the Richmond Bridge for over 50 minutes and messaged them. Thought we'd lose the table, but they held it for us. Super accommodating. Food was fire. Calamari was crispy, crab bisque was rich, Caprese salad was fresh, and the sea bass was amazing. Kiddo crushed her angel hair spaghetti. Great food, great service, chill vibe. Luna Blu! I couldn't help but mentally translate it to "blue moon" (even if translation is most likely something else haha), so it would be a rarity. If you can, try and get a seat outside. It's nice to sit next to the water and look at the docked boats, the flames from the heaters, the sky, and the water! Breathe in the air! I got myself a ceci con malone (a weekly special which is a chickpea and cantaloupe melon salad) and their cioppino. Salmon! Calamari! Bread! Clams! Mussels! Shrimp! Zesty tomato-based sauce! Their cioppino has everything haha. I finished my meal with a double cappuccino and mocha tiramisu. The staff is attentive and friendly. I absolutely enjoyed my visit there. Everything was delicioso! With and overcrowded Sam's next door, Luna is good option for Italian influenced seafood. Seated outside to enjoy the Tiburon vibe and look across the bay to see the SF city scape this is a relaxing environment which paired well with the following: Bloody Mary- Great starter! Salmon Piccata- decent portion of medium-well pan seared salmon blanketed with lemon buttered goodness and capers scattered generously around the plate. Cioppino- Plenty of seafood variety as expected but the tomato broth fell short in richness compared to other cioppino's in the bay area but still satisfying as I would categorize this as "cioppino light". Service was friendly and efficient and if you are in the area it would be a good stop by but not necessarily a must go to. read more

WHEN: Sat @ 1:45pm PARKING: There is free 2 hour parking on the streets. Came here because: 1.) I wanted to eat at a waterfront spot 2.) Sam's Anchor is packed because a tour group just arrived and it would have been a 2 hour wait. When we walked into Luna Blue we went through the bar first with some indoor seating. Then when we come out to the back, we were seating towards the center because all seatings around the edge were reserved. And that's fine. It's far from the water compared to Sam but we didn't plan any better. Here's what we ordered: RESHLY BAKED CIABATTA ROLLS - $0.75 each. I'm honestly a bit turned off that we have to pay for bread. Not a basket, but FOR EACH ROLL. Yes it was warm and fresh and came with olive oil, but we got ours really late--like after our meals came out. Also, the party that sat down AFTER us got their rolls before us! Was this a mistake? I angrily ate my rolls. SACHETTI DI PERA - $31 Homemade purse shaped pasta filled with Asiago and Pear, served with Mushrooms, Prosciutto and Green Peas, in a White Cream Sauce. I've never had pear in my pasta before so this was interesting. I enjoyed it---overall its sweet from the pears, creamy and rich, and very savory from the prosciutto. This was a valentines special dish I think. Such cute little pouches for pasta. Looks like money bags. LUNA BURGER - $29 Grilled Kobe Beef Burger, topped with Asiago Cheese, Red Onions, Tomato and Romaine Lettuce. Choice of Salad or Fries. This Kobe beef burger was dry. Tasted pretty mediocre. Fries were good though. This was fine overall. I think people come here to be in the waterfront. Service was ok (our guy seemed weird like he was acting), didn't like that we had to pay for bread, and food came out pretty slow especially those rolls. Yeah, I'm fixated on those $0.75 rolls. We sat on the balcony over the water, which had a covering on all sides that gave you the feel of being outside without any of the cold. THE COST About $175 total for dinner for two. Note that they charge for hot water - I appreciate that when I asked for this, our server did warn us. THE FOOD Pama Margarita ($15) - 2.5 stars, a bit too diluted in flavor, yet overly strong in alcohol. Tartare Di Tonno ($23) - 3 stars, good, taro chips were a unique touch. Crab Bisque ($16) - 4.5 stars, my partner really enjoyed this. Linguine Alle Vongol ($31) - 4 stars Bolognese ($29) - 3.5 stars, pasta was on the softer side. Ovation for a stellar celebration dinner (my sister's birthday). Setting:Luna Blu is a family owned authentic Italian restaurant in Tiburon. It may look a bit small from the outside, but as you walk through the interior space they have amazing bay view deck seating. There are ample tables with a view and the cozy, quiet, heat generating lamps provide comfort on a crisp night. It's beautiful to watch the twinkling lights and city views as you enjoy your meal in this intimate setting. There is validated parking in the city lot across from the entrance. The hostess who greeted us was welcoming and helpful. Our party of six enjoyed outstanding service. The menu changes seasonally; we shared the wonderful calamari (2 orders) appetizer of perfectly crispy fried squid. Italian sodas were delicious non alcoholic drinks. The entrees ranged from Caesar salad,fettuccini Alfredo, fresh ravioli (butternut squash and spinach), and cioppino. Everyone was pleased with their selection and we enjoyed the warm ciabatta bread with butter and chili infused olive oil. Our waiter was outstanding, attending to our every need with frequent check-ins without being overbearing. The desserts: the perfect afforgato and tiramisu, delicious cannelloni, and excellent cappuccino- were the perfect end to a special celebration. My sister loved her tiramisu topped with a candle and serenade of "happy birthday." A grand time was had by all: Luna Blu has the trifecta of restaurant cred: location, service, and culinary expertise. Prices are not a bargain, but for the atmosphere and service it's worth it for a special occasion. The meat entrees range from $35-45 and vegetarian pastas average $22. Lovely outdoor seating area with no wait. Staff was nice but the one waiter was spread a little thin between all of the outside tables. Fortunately, the girl cleaning/setting the tables was very helpful and kind; she was able to assist with small requests for us which was appreciated. The Crab Bisque came out first - I didn't notice any crab in it but it was flavorful and creamy nonetheless. The portion was perfect for one person. Next, we received our shared entree (the appetizer and the bread we ordered hadn't come yet). The entree, Mezzalune Di Ricotta E Spinaci was tasty. We particularly enjoyed the sage sauce that the raviolis were served in. The raviolis themselves were ok. We inquired about the Burrata appetizer and the bread rolls we had ordered (to go with the bisque which was now gone). They both came shortly after the entree. The bread rolls are added on individually at 75 cents per roll, we ordered two. They were a bit hard but warm and are served with olive oil. The Burrata Al Tartufo didn't look quite like I imagined it. The presentation was intriguing and though this item was interesting, I would have liked to have more bread to eat with it. The truffle on top was generously spread which made it over powering of the Burrata, which is cooked/melted for this dish so it loses the softness and flavor that sets it apart from mozzarella. I am a huge Burrata fan so I can't say I would order this item again. The Lemon Cloud dessert was very nice and light with a stand out lemon flavor. This was just right after a midday meal; not too heavy and perfect to share. Overall, the Sausalito location with water views and quick outdoor seating are worth the visit. This place is GORGEOUS!!! The food is amazing too lol. I wanted to try this place for a while and it does not disappoint! We decided to dine outside and had a beautiful view of the bay. The soundtrack of gentle waves splashing below us was a really nice touch too. The interior is well appointed too with a sailing/nautical/sea theme. It's small but that's not a bad thing and let's face it, that's how the bay area is. We decided to have a drink before dinner and I appreciate that they have a wide range of selections to choose from. My wife ordered the Cioppino and I went for the Filetto Al Gorgonzola and both were amazing! I originally was craving a pasta dish but saw that and had to have it. I'm glad I did as the texture of the Filet was so nice. Definitely no shortage of flavor and the presentation was kinda cool too. My wife's Cioppino looked super good and the scent of it made me have food FOMO. We shared a Tiramisu afterwards and watched the sun go down on the bay. It was an amazing experience. Lastly, the service was top notch. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the whole menu. In closing, places like this are not just about the food or location, it's the experience. The hostess looked beautiful and greeted us, let us know our table was a little behind, but then was able to seat us writhing 5 minutes of our reservation. Our waiter- such a gentleman and respected our time and space, never interrupted our conversation or dinning experience. The food- Delicious, had cucumber tomato salad, ahi tuna apps, crab pasta, halibut, gelato, and cannoli. Loved them all!
