This place is awesome! Right on Big Moose Lake, it feels like the Adirondacks. The food selection ranges from hearty American to more modern, light fare. My sister-in-law had the Ahi Tuna Salad which was fresh tasting and good. My niece had Chicken Nuggets, typical kid food which she enjoyed. A few of us had the Prime Rib Special. It didn't disappoint. The meat was cooked as requested and served with tasty potato wedges and green beans. Service is efficient and friendly. Overall a relaxing, enjoyable experience. read more

Don't be fooled by the construction outside and semi divey interior, this is the joint to visit up here in the mountains. The wings are a must, nice and crispy. Also, the bartender runs the show all by herself and makes a mean old fashioned. Do yourself a favor and belly up with some libations and bar food done proper. Let's be clear here. This is a great bar experience. When Pat took over and expanded the windows behind the bar, it really created an amazing view of the lake that is second to none in the entire North Country. The food, however, just hasn't caught up yet. I'm optimistic that, over time, the kitchen will hit its stride. Until then, just stick with the very basics here (burger, chicken sandwich, etc.). 4.5 stars...This place is awesome. Eagle Bay is a tiny town in the heart of the Adirondacks. The Glenmore is a place nestled at the end of a quiet street, nothing you would find unless you were looking for it. In an area were many of the bars are full of middle aged locals and are usually uncomfortable for out-of-towners, the Glenmore is a welcoming and diverse bar and grill. The food is pretty standard, nothing amazing or worth mentioning but they do have a full menu. The place has a bar area, table/chair area, and comfortable lounge area complete with vintage couches, video games, a pool table, and a electronic darts. Unfortunately they only have 2 beers on tap (Molson and Michelob) but they do have a number of canned beers (and a couple bottled) and the draft beer is only $2.50 (most of the other beer is $3). read more

Best food in the area, and a great small staff who work very hard to take care of everyone. I have to say, if your classic restaurant food like quesadillas are delicious, you know the rest can only be great. Jim, the chef, has a dinner menu of fish fry, prime rib, Ny strip, ahi tuna...tavern has juicy, messy, devourable burgers, and more. You usually can catch a glimpse of Pat, the owner, hustling around making sure things are going well, if he's not cooking or quick chatting with customers. Where do I start on my experience here. The ambiance is wonderful and made me feel right at home in the Adirondacks. The servers were extremely friendly and the menu was diverse. If you are a snowmobiler in the Old Forge, NY area you must stop in for some food and drink at The Glenmore. My first time there was in 1984 and have been there ever since. It has gone through three owners over the years and the newest is offering the best selection of food and drink. However, I do have one issue. Brink back the good old fashioned Buffalo Chicken Wings. They are not on the menu and are sorely missed. read more

Located waterfront on big moose lake. This bar and grill is one you don't want to miss for lunch! My wife had a haddock sandwich and I had a mushroom Swiss burger. Both were excellent. Place was almost empty probably due to their location. But it's only a 25 minute drive from Old Forge so give it a try! read more

It does not please me to leave a less than glowing review for anyone. Please keep in mind we are NOT picky people and have been all over the globe staying in hostels, farmhouses and one star hotels. Knowing this was incredibly cheap we did not expect much, and boy did it deliver. 1. we requested 1 one bed/$35 but with no reason we were given 2 beds and charged $50. no biggie. 2. I went to put my things in a drawer to find it was full of garbage. I suppose it was the previous tenant's cups, wrappers, grossness. It was all right next to an extra blanket. 3. We read the disclaimers and expected bar noise and such until 2am. The bar noise wasn't that bad and we were right above the main part. It was loud, no doubt, but we expected it. What we did not expect was revelers that came in at 5am, apparently from the bar sanctioned bonfire party. From 5am-6:30 am many people were partying in the hallway, laughing loudly, running back and forth. I did go out and ask WTF and the 2 people sitting right in front of our door smoking said drunkenly that they 'couldn't get in to their rooms', whatever that means. Not my problem- where was some kind of management to tell them to shut up, get in their rooms, kick them out...whatever!! The next morning there were shoes, underwear and an opened ice tea in the hall way- they remained there until we left the NEXT morning!! small things, but not good: -There is a sofa facing a wall and an empty tv stand in the 'tv room.' -The sheets are brown. that's just gross because you can't see how dirty they may or may not be. The rooms have florescent overhead lights, no lamps. no bedside tables. -We never met the 'host'. Trying to check out we couldn't find anyone in the bar, kitchen, hostel. We left our keys with a note. -No paper towels in the bathroom for half the stay; A gross shower poof on the ground of the shower for 2 days. Apparently there is no one popping around the common areas to do a little pick up The pros: It's cheap. Fun maybe if you don't care about cleanliness at all and are an INSANE partier. The breakfast was good- bagels, donuts, english muffins, fresh fruit, coffee, juice.Comfy beds. No strict check out time. I hope these people up their 'game' a little. Charge a few more bucks and have someone clean up and keep control of unruly guests. read more

Handled our large party on a busy Friday night, although waitstaff was clearly overworked. Fish fry is a thing in ADK, but were told they may have been "out" of that option - didn't pursue. New owner, Pat Duffy, is doing a great job turning this old restaurant around, so keep in mind he's only had ownership of it for three years now, converting a debilitated historical building into a thriving staple of BML. He's got great wait staff who are always hustling around, attentive bartenders, talented cooks (Pat's one of them by the way), and Daiker's doesnt hold a flame to the view from the bar Duffy's has. Businesses in the ADKs depend on tourists and are staffed by college kids and or summertime locals and lifers. Seasons vary due to weather so if youre considering stopping here for dinner and see the old reviews from before 2015, and they turn you off, please know that Duffy's is bars higher than where it used to be. Try some beers on tap, go walk down to lake, have a burger or fish fry on Friday, you won't regret driving way back into Big Moose. read more

When we travel from Colorado to visit Big Moose Lake (each summer if we're lucky), we always have dinner at The Glenmore a few times during our visit. We go back year after year for the great service and beautiful view of the lake (from the deck and dock) and because it is so fun for the kids. The restaurant is casual and we love the large tables and mellow lighting, pool table, darts and foozball. Last summer, we were there for the Forth of July and the fireworks show was amazing! The Glenmore is always a great time! Whether you're looking for a bite to eat or a few drinks or both, the atmosphere is inviting and fun. Prices are affordable. Best of all it sits right on beautiful Big Moose Lake, a unique and distinct lake in the adk region. Staying overnight at the Glenmore is beyond affordable and you will be sure have fun into the night if you hang downstairs or out by the fire. This place is awesome! Definitely the local hangout, so it does draw a crowd. They do have few staff, because it really only gets busy for a little while so there's no need to have additional employees. We've stayed at the hostel up stairs (and are planning to do so again this weekend), and yes, you can hear everything below, but that adds so much to the personality- not to mention it's so convenient to be able to stay up late for drinks and stumble upstairs to bed. The staff that do work there are easy-going, down to earth, and good to talk to. We love feeling like a part of the local scene and isolated from the more touristy Adirondack spots. read more

This restaurant is a gem at the end of Big Moose Lake in the Adirondacks. I love it after a day of hiking or XC skiing, and it's accessible by snowmobile. We visited the Glenmore for dinner while staying locally at Big Moose Lake. We went there several times during the course of the week due to its location and the experience we had on our first visit! We slid into the homey bar and ordered a few (local) Saranac beers as a warm up. The bar maid Kelsey, was sweet and friendly, fast and always responded to our needs at the right time. She told us about the menu and we decided to try her recommendations- the sandwiches we ordered (Ruben) and nachos (loaded) came out quickly, were piping hot and delicious. We tried several other menu items over the course of the week, all with great success. We also had the pleasure of Kelsey and her counterpart, Kate's company during our visit. Both were attentive and friendly- we felt as if we were regulars within 30 minutes! Prices, especially at happy hours were amazingly low! We will return there next season- they are only open Memorial Day to Labor Day, but can't wait to return! Thanks to Bob, the owner as well.
