Went here in August while I was in Inlet working and dinner was delish! Warm bread, chowder, meatloaf and then dessert- all great! Tonight (9/6/25) in Inlet again for work and went in for dinner. Great place i have been riding snowmobiles to this establishment for 30 years now. Please support them or we will have nothing. As to the ID$#!@# complaining, it's not a Michelin Star place, hence don't expect such and you shall not be disappointed!!!!!! Keep up the great work! read more

Do not recommend was not impressed in any way. Looked good on google, had some good reviews and we were looking for an affordable family restaurant. It was myself, my other and our 5 kids. I was really excited at first...the place is cool and unique. It's a really strange atmosphere but that's what I like. So first thing you see at the register when waiting to be seated is that there is an upcharge to using a card, I was paying cash anyways...I got over that..not that big of a deal but still not a great buisness tactic. We were seated and offered menus quickly. The selection was mediocre and prices were above average. Everyone but myself ordered soda, I only drink water. The waitress was an older lady who was very nice and friendly but took awhile to get our drink and diner orders. The other and myself ordered burgers but didn't get any addition toppings because they charge extra for lettuce and onions. Pretty sad! They do not have bacon at all at their restaurant so don't expect a bacon cheese burger. Kids got shrimp and chicken strip baskets. While waiting awhile for the food, one of the kids spilled their drink....could not find any help to clean it up, waitress was no where to be found. We cleaned it ourselves. Was taking a good bit to get our diners and everyone drank all their drinks while waiting. Recieved our food. Burgers were gross , almost no flavor, obviously very over processed frozen meat with alot of filler. Everyone complained about the fries being oily tasting and under cooked. The shrimp were no bigger than a tic tac with a ton of breading. One kid ordered the Ziti special ...which was very good. On the overall the food was very subpar for the price, Ive had better meals at Burger King. While eating our meals we still needed drink refills from waiting, and being spilled, and napkins from the clean up. No waitress to be found. We had to go up to the waitress station and help ourselves. Had to track down the bartender to get refills. Had to ask three time for additional dipping sauce took over 10mins to get the dip. Then the worse of it.....the bill. We were so distracted by the high prices we never read the fine print at bottom of the menu. The refills were not free so there was $23 dollars in soda alone. Then to add insult, there was a mandatory 20% gratuity charge . They got a $27 tip for the absolutely worse service I've seen in a long time. Say none the less we will never return. We left with the horrible feeling like we were just highway robbed and taken advantage of.. Everything in the place is a money grab with subpar food and service service. read more

Sad. This place was always great; my husband and I stopped in for the first time in about 10 years for dinner . Everything was frozen and reheated. The burger was straight moooooshy. Oh, and when he asked for the burger to be cooked medium she responded, "it only comes one way, mediumish" and then it came out fully grey through the middle lol okay then.... Look, You get what you got here. Is the food basic? Yes Is it overpriced? 13.00$ cheeseburger and 25 cents for each lettuce tomato and onion lol? Yes But does it hit the spot after a nice cruise on the snowmobile trail???? Big yes, and why should they stray from what works? There's nothing closer off the snowmobile trail in that area. Now I'm not gunna say this is a culinary masterpiece. But accept where your at and the fact that you could be without. Great place if you like dog food. We were looking for a rustic/old-timey dining establishment, this being the Adirondacks and all, and were totally fooled by the whole "barn restaurant with a lot of old wood siding" aesthetic that draws in unsuspecting eaters. We started with the wings, which must have not been cooked all the way. There is nothing more miserable in all the culinary universe than eating hotwings with soggy skin. And the deplorable beer selections meant that we had to choke them down (the few that we actually ate) with frosty overpriced mugs of Bud. Eating even a few bites of the off-tasting burger was an experience somewhat akin to reading "The Jungle" cover to cover. The house special lasagna made us feel like we were starving Russian soldiers, eating ground up bits of our once-loyal hound sandwiched ignominiously between slabs of shoe leather. Needless to say, we didn't order dessert. The bill was galling, even if the food had been edible. I really wanted to like this place, what with all the history and the pictures of the proprietor's cute little daughters and all, but this is a culinary con. No need to eat like this in the Adirondacks. Just buy a grocery store steak, catch some bass in any of the eight million lakes, grab a bundle of the ubiquitous firewood, and you can eat like a king in the comfort of your own cabin, instead of coming here and dining at the margins of comestibility. read more

I know, I know. The place is an institution. It's tempting because it's big and there is a good family atmosphere. You might think to yourself that even if the food isn't that great, it will still be a good time. WRONG. Seriously, WRONG. The food here is massively sub-par. The burgers here reminded me of the campfire fare that you eat the day after you cooked it because you are hungry after a day on the water, and the whole "24-hour burger in the cooler" seems more like strong logic than a recipe for disaster. We actually came here twice, giving them the benefit of the doubt...BIG mistake. The food was sub-par at best. My "steak" was cardboard. The portions were tiny. The service was horrible. There were flies all over the restaurant, getting on our table and food. the waitress would disappear for 20-30 minutes at a time, forgetting such simple things as a beer refill. There is a huge bar here that may be do-able for watching football and having a few beers but stay away from the food. I heard recently that the Ole Barn is for sale.... I hope the new owners re-do the kitchen and hire new cooks and waitstaff. This place needs a whole new team. read more

This review is a bit different than the average reviews for the Ole Barn. We went to the Adirondacks for Thanksgiving and had our Thanksgiving Dinner here. The restaurant itself is really cool, very "North Woods" style with a lot of character. The Thanksgiving Meal was delicious and everything was cooked to perfection. Overall I can't speak for the every day experience here but for our special trip to the Ole Barn it was very enjoyable. read more

Came in with a party of 11 and they took excellent care of us. We did a basic lunch of burgers, soups, and fries. Prices are a bit steep...bathrooms are a bit "dated"....but hospitality was on point read more

I love supporting Mom & Pop businesses (over the big chain places), but sadly I have to agree with the other reviewers here. The food is, shall we say, disappointing. They have typical "American-style" selections that would be good if they paid attention to the details. For example, browning "today's vegetable" on the grill is a different touch (instead of soggy/boiled like you get at most restaurants), but the veggies should be drained. Instead, they're served in a puddle of grease that makes them taste like hamburgers. And really, how hard is it to stick a toothpick into the Tollhouse pie to make sure it's done before they pull it out of the oven? Unfortunately, they served it with the raw cookie dough running out on the plate. The service was good and they have a nice decor/atmosphere in that quirky Adirondack way, but the kitchen staff needs a refresher course I think. read more

I've been going to the Ole Barn since 1987. Its a huge bar and restaurant located on Limekiln Road on your way to the Moose River Plains. Snowmobilers, camper's and boaters frequent this joint during the winter, late spring, summer and early fall. They host theme parties throughout the year with live music, great food and good friends. Okay - I have to counter some of the reviews that I have seen here for the Ole Barn, I have been visiting this establishment for a number of years, and I have always had a good experience. The service has been great, and the food has been great as well. I don't know what happened for the other people that have posted here - but I will say that "please and thank you" go a loing way to receiving good service anywhere you go. Bottom line, I like the Ole Barn, and I always stop in. read more
