The Best burgers and cold beer at a great price! One of my favorite spots on the island.

I can not remember the last time I had a burger this good. It was amazing. Perfectly cooked. Wish we would have tried sooner on our trip.

This seems like a local place - or a place for desperate tourists who need some food. The inside area is small. There's a sign that says face masks are required, but the workers weren't wearing them. You order at the bar and they will bring the food out to you. Because of this they never check in to see how your meal is. The food was just okay. I had a burger which was more well done than I would have liked. The ham sandwich had three pieces of bread - not sure if it was supposed to be more of a club style or if they forgot a piece. A weekly stop for my family and I (if not twice a week). You might be inclined to drive right past it but I highly encourage going in. The burgers are absolutely unreal. I'm not the biggest burger fan but I'll be darned if I don't eat one of these at least once a week. It's a family owned place and everyone is very kind. Diamond in the rough. Cheap pitchers and food. Had a large group that snagged the outdoor lanai. Everyone ordered hotdogs and hamburgers and we were all satisfied. Delicious, simple bar food and friendly staff. Great spot for lunch. I'd start here, catch a buzz and head down to the ugly grouper for overpriced drinks and live music. Coldest draft beer I've ever had! And it was only a dollar! My wife had the cheese burger and I had the double cheese burger. They were good but the double burger was too much for the bun and fell apart. Also had a side of their homemade potato salad, just like moms. It's a fun place to bring the family. read more

During our annual visit to AMI, I decided we needed to weigh in on the local burger rivalry - Duffy's Tavern vs. Skinny's Place. Ding, ding, ding! And, Duffy's is the clear winner! It's a bar, but the atmosphere seemed family-friendly to me. At least around 7 pm. The burgers were very good and the menu was far more interesting than their rival's. I got a Brie and caramelized onion burger with potato salad. It was perfect. The others got a regular cheeseburger and a braunschweiger sandwich (blech, but she liked it and loved that the even had it in the menu). I will definitely make this our burger go-to when we visit. read more

Duffy's Tavern is a great place to come with friends and family for a good meal, or a great burger. The burgers here are really good: Big buns, smoked patties, crispy bacon (if you order the bacon burger like I did), fresh lettuce and pickles, and many more. They serve a variety of drinks, from water to sodas to alcohol. All the drinks are nice and cold, so you can count on them to refresh you. If you go to AMI, this place is a MUST. Hit it up on the way to the beach to get inexpensive icy cold delicious beer. Then, after swimming at the beach and working up an appetite, head back to Duffy's for a hamburger and another beer. Don't eat the beach cafes food unless it is Sunday and you are getting there unlimited breakfast. We ordered food and I said no cheese on the burger, I have an allergy and they put cheese on my burger plus when I try to lift it off to try and salvage my meal there's a HAIR, absolutely disgusting. Also there was two confederate flags hanging up, very offsetting and uncomfortable for kids, duffys do better. read more

The burgers are excellent but the service is stale. The ladies that work there should take a lesson in hospitality. My husband and I frequent this restaurant many times a year when we are on Anna Maria Island. Every time we are there we see the same faces and they never look happy to see or serve you. A smile could go a long way. We keep going back just because of the burgers. My favorite is the jalapeño havarti, lthough its not jalapeños on the burger, it's actually red cherry peppers. I have heard so much about Duffy's Tavern from my friends, and that it was one of the top 10 hamburgers places around. It was a great disappointment. First, there is no table service. You are expected to clean off the table from the patrons before you, go to the bar and place your order, then go to pick up your order. It was a pre-form hamburger patty, nothing special! They do not serve french fries, a hamburger without fries?! I did have the cole slaw for the side and it was good. I do not understand the rave reviews, unless the other reviewers have had pretty lousy hamburgers at other establishments. They do not take credit cards either, cash only. This is a good place to go if you're looking for a cheap meal. They have a bunch of beers for under $3 and the food is really cheap too. My boyfriend got a hotdog with toppings, hamburger with toppings and I got a grilled cheese, chips and we had two beers and it was $15. On my latest quest for a good dive burger I stoped in Duffy's to give it a try. The place was packed when I got there about 15 minutes after they opened on sunday. I was lucky enough to get a seat at the bar and get a beer. Just the usual in that regard, nothing special but at least cheap. I tried the special horseradish cheddar burger. Even though it was packed, it didn't take long for it to come up. It was fine, nothing special, the burger was seasoned well and the lettice was fine, so was the tomato. Basically like getting the ingrediants at the grocery. The let down was the horseradish cheddar. Not even close. No spice, no kick no nothing. Not even melted. So a fine burger but nothing special. The quest for a good dive burger in the Sarasota Bradenton area continues. read more
