I really enjoy going to Duffy's Tavern, especially for their burger. It's a great neighborhood bar. The restaurant vibes gave off old-school Miami definitely considered a divey bar which I love. It's very casual please a lot of seating so you could go with a big group of people. It's usually pretty crowded especially on game nights so it's always fun and good vibe the staff is very friendly and everyone is very laid-back and chill. I would recommend going with friends to watch a game. I've even been there before with a friend to discuss some business they have a lot of tables outside too, so you can sit down and actually have a serious conversation if you need to. read more

If you are an alumni University of Miami then there's a 99.9% chance you already know about this place. If you are a fan of the university of Miami and I've never been here then there is a 100% chance that you need to go! Boy if the walls in here could speak, Jimmy Johnson, Howard Schnellenberger, Dennis Erickson, Ed Orgeron, countless number of players over countless decades have all frequent in this spot. You can spend hours or perhaps days looking at the memorabilia on the wall, and the good news is the new owners are really even more friendly to the university. As far as the food and drink goes it is definitely a dive bar. The beer is cold, the drinks are strong, the food is decent. The burger and the wings are the best. We stopped into Duffy's for lunch before heading to the airport to return back home to Washington. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Duffy's is family friendly. Cash only establishment; credit cards are not accepted. ATM is on premises. An 18% service charge is added to parties of 4+. I loved the nostalgic and creative way items were refurbished throughout Duffy's. I couldn't resist browsing the entire place looking at photographs and newspaper articles. There are TVs throughout. There is quite a large outdoor covered seating area to watch televised sporting events or just to seat large parties. While perusing the menu, I sipped on a Bloody Mary. My first Bloody Mary that was served without any of the vegetables. Odd. For my meal I chose the BLT Sandwich with Potato Salad as the side for $8.95. I always love a good BLT and Duffy's did not disappoint. Staff was friendly and took pride in their home-state. Prices were fair. Food was tasty. Fun dive bar with nice food options & spacious outdoor seating! I went with a group of 25+and we were nicely accommodated outdoors, with even a large screen for a presentation! They were able to manage separate checks smoothly (cash only), servers were quick bringing out drinks & food. I tried a burger w/ cheese & jalapenos & sweet potato fries, the BF had a classic burger, both were pretty good! It's pet friendly as some friends brought dogs & parrots! Almost lost my cowboy boots playing pool back when they had a table. It will be hard to find, but my picture is up there on the wall, and on a table. I've been coming to this place for over 20 years. This is an entity in coral Gables, although is not within the city limits, but it is next to it, I almost always ordered the steak, although there is no Argentinian, Brazilians, Uruguayans or Paraguay staff in the kitchen which are the masters at beef , The chef in the back is just a rockstar, I recently reviewed another place in the Gables with a terrible steak choice. They should come here and learn a little. Everything in the menu is really good. We have bar food and regular food as well as amazing soups every day. I haven't been to Duffy's in a while so gave it a try tonight. It really seemed the same as always, although the server did enter our order into a handheld device. Good, although not great food. Quick service. Same lively atmosphere. No recent change in prices. But there was one notable difference that became apparent at the end of the meal. If you're familiar with Duffy's, SIT DOWN BEFORE READING THIS. They now take credit cards! The check was an itemized bill of the food and drinks (as opposed to the old adding machine tape that didn't tell you what you had consumed) along with a QR code that could be used to make payment. I had a choice to use the card already set up on my phone or to enter in new card information. And the server was able to use his ordering gizmo to see that I had paid. A very nice improvement over the requirement to pay in cash that always had existed at Duffy's. read more

My experience here was a short one we just wanted to grab something to eat and go home and rest. Cash only (We came prepared..can't say the same for the other 2 guests in my party lol) When they bring the bill it's just a number scribbled on a paper... no itemized receipt.. Ah the famous Duffys Tavern. I'd driven by a couple of times and heard of their karaoke nights but never had the oomph to stop by until today that I was in the area and fiending a burger. They have a sign outside advertising themselves as Tun Tavern South. That's the bar where the US Marine Corps - aka the jarheads, the crayon eaters (my cousin's in the Army so he taught me all the nicknames) was founded. I'm appreciative that Duffys supports our troops. Logistically, they have have parking behind the restaurant as well as in adjacent business lot. They're cash only, and in addition to what your bank charges you, there's a $2 ATM fee. For that, I have to ding a star. Here's hoping they come to the 21st century as far as payment. Decor is typical dive bar, with a lot of old license plates and a smattering of TV's showing different sporting events. I asked for a bacon cheeseburger, a simple classic on cheat day. The menu says it comes with mayo, and I asked my waitress to skip the mayo and sub it with BBQ sauce. Although they skipped the offending condiment, they didn't add the bbq sauce. I even had to request a bottle of it. Fries were thick cut, but just a few (8-10 maybe?) and the burger seemed on the small side. I shudder to think what a slider would have looked like. Still and all, after adding the bbq sauce, my burger was tasty. I also ordered a Keylime pie which again wasn't bad it was a little firmer then I would prefer but again it hit the spot. The waitress took my order did check in once but the rest of the service was handled by someone else I'm guessing a manager. That cost me a tip accordingly. Duffy's is a local institution with extremely friendly staff and excellent food far and beyond "pub food". Their daily specials typically include differently prepared different types of fish, typically a steak and or chicken dish, different soups, and of course Duffy's Lager for $3.75! The lager is absolutely delicious, by the way, it's such a great deal. Their chili is fantastic! If they have the skins available, you have to try them! SOOO good! Both the tuna salad and chicken salad are excellent. I haven't had any of the burgers, but my boys have and they love them. They have an expansive menu which we have pretty much worked our way through and there's not one thing we have EVER had that is not excellent. The service by Stacey, Jose, Julio, and Gustavo is just amazing. They are very fun, personable, efficient, and friendly. My husband and son are just temporarily living in Miami and go several times per week. The fact that we see the same people in there over and over this testament to the fact that it's so good that they have many repeat clientele. I literally feel like I'm walking onto the set of "Cheers" when I walk in to this pub. The warmth and welcoming is infectious. I live in Denver and only visit a few days at a time, yet they remember me and my name every time I walk through the door. The ambience is so entertaining as well. You have to see it to believe it! I really miss the days of Wayne and Jimmy. Unfortunately, Duffy's Tavern is no longer what it used to be. Ever since the new administration took over the restaurant, everything has changed for the worst. Last night my son and I decided to go have dinner there, and it was a royal disaster. I ordered the roast beef, that used to be excellent before. The meat was black, hard, dry and thick. It was also overcooked. I decided that I was not going to complaint, but I was so upset when I started to eat that sandwich, that at the end I had to say something to the waiter. He apologized and offered to bring something else, but by then I was so mad I wanted to get out of there, but my son was still eating. All of a sudden, an explosion of music came out of the jug box. It was so loud, that some customers left before they sat down. The people that were sitting at the bar (that's where the music started), were all talking at the top of their lungs, and when one of the waiters tried to lower the music, he could not do it. I am going to repeat myself when I say that I miss the old days. I was a regular for over 20 years, and tonight was my last visit to the place. The only thing that remains decent is that the employees are the same, and they have always been nice and polite. I hope the place remains open in spite of bad quality of the food and the new clientele, for the sake of the employees. Good luck Duffy's! read more

Bizarrely enough, although I live minutes away (& LOVE a good dive bar), had somehow never set foot in Duffy's! That's soon to change. Stepping in is like stepping into a movie set of what a good ole' neighborhood bar should look like & rightly so! Duffy's has bern around since 1955!!! Pictures & nostalgic knick knacks cover the walks & tables & the beer/liquor bottle chandeliers are killer! My dad & I popped in on a whim & were not disappointed. He had the chili (which he could not stop RAVING about), the hot dog & some fries. Loved it all! I had the Buffalo Chicken Salad (I know, I know... who eats salad at a dive bar) but it was surprisingly good. Just added extra buffalo sauce to the chicken but salad was fresh & huge. Typical Sports Bar and Food. Definitely a Sysco type restaurant. Can sodas, with charge for refills. Food was what is expected. Steak was overcooked, but somehow retained its juices and was tasty. I was born and raised a few blocks from here in a house my parents have owned since 1957, so almost as long as Duffy's has been here. I also attended UM in the 70s so I've been coming to Duffy's off and on for quite some time, although I've never written a review. Yesterday I took my elderly mother to Duffy's for lunch as one of her favorite things to eat is a Duffy's "Belly Buster" hot dog. We parked right up front, I took my mother's walker out of the trunk, and we began our slow walk through the covered outdoor seating area to the side door entrance. I then realized that my mother had forgotten her mask, so I informed her that we'd have to eat outside. A Duffy's employee overheard our conversation and immediately offered to get a mask for my mother. After providing the mask, he held open the door as we proceeded to a booth inside. Once seated, another employee offered to stow her walker while we ate. Our waiter then approached us wheeling a blackboard with the day's specials (see photo) and took our drink orders. My mother asked for a lemonade ($1.60) and I ordered a pint of Guinness ($6.00). We received both promptly and then ordered our food: my mother went with her usual Belly Buster hot dog with a side of cole slaw ($6.50), and I ordered a Veggie Burger without cheese (10.95) and a plain baked potato ($1.50 surcharge). The Veggie Burger is normally served with melted cheese for $11.95. Both of our meals were delicious as usual, and our waiter kept close tabs on us to see if there was anything else he could do for us. I quaffed a second Guinness with my meal, but we didn't order dessert or anything else. The staff were just as nice to my mother as we made our verrry slow walk out of the restaurant, through the patio, and to my car, as they had been when we arrived. The manager even handed me a packaged chocolate cookie/wafer for my mother as we exited. All in all, it was a very nice meal and outing for my mother (& me). The only caveat I would include in my review is to make sure you bring cash with you as Duffy's does not accept credit cards. If you happen to arrive with empty pockets, there is an ATM on site. read more

While Duffy's may not be your typical "five star" joint, it checks all the boxes of what I may want from a sports bar and evokes a little nostalgia that bumps it up a notch. We recently moved nearby and have swung by a couple of times to watch college and NFL games. The menu has game day favorites, plus a few surprises. We've tried things like mozzarella sticks, buffalo bites, burgers, fish dip, and even key lime pie. It all hit the spot, but I wouldn't come just for the food. Now what does stand out is the speed at which the food comes out... Lightning fast! Two downsides for me would be that it's cash only and they don't offer any sort of local beer on tap. There is an ATM onsite though which charged a $2 fee. A few perks include ample parking, friendly staff, and a fun environment. There's even covered seating outside with a big screen TV which I can't wait to take advantage of when the weather cools down! There are TVs all over the place and when the Canes are on, you can bet it's on all of them with sound. It's awesome this spot has so much history, evident by all the pictures on the walls and tables!
