We stopped in to visit and have a few drinks to end the night. The interior is laid back. Nothing fancy or extravagant, just comfortable. We had a few drinks and a couple of friends ordered food. Everything was good. They have dart boards in back if you are up for a game. I've had the Dugan's Pub Monday special in the past. Jambalaya....... Or what I like to call it, Jamba-licious.!!!! I don't believe that a meal can be too good, but if it can, this is real close. Very tasty with just enough spice to set it apart from any other I've had. And I'm also including for home grown cajuns who state they make the best jambalaya in the south. Working downtown, this is one of our 'go-to' places for lunch. While I can't speak to the 'pub' side of the restaurant, the food is almost always outstanding. The burgers are great, cheese and stuffed mushrooms are great, and the club sandwich is GIANT. The fries and onion rings are super. Service is a little hit & miss, but I have never had an unfriendly experience. The staff just seems to get overwhelmed if it's a heavy lunch crowd. My biggest complaint? An Irish pub should have OUTSTANDING fish and chips, and these are meh. Greasy and mushy. Everything else is great but these are not good. So avoid teh fish and chips, enjoy everything else, and be patient. Dugan's is a tasty place to go! read more

I was visiting Little Rock with some friends and I really needed food and it was after 10 p.m. On the advice of the bartender at another restaurant, I ended up here on a Wednesday night. I was a bit hesitant as Irish Pubs can be hit or miss but are usually a miss. When we arrived, it turns out it's karaoke night! I don't participate but I always like watching people who do! I hadn't had a Club sandwich in ages, so I got the Triple Decker. I had a couple smallish changes for it and they were able to accommodate me with no issue. I ordered the fruit as a side. When it came out, I thought I had made a mistake. As a human, I am not able to unhinge my jaw so I wasn't sure I could do justice to the sandwich, especially since it was also as big as my head. (See photo!) I made a little mess and my friends ended up filming me eating it... and it was AMAZING. The bread was buttered and grilled, the herb mayo was fantastic, lots of meat and cheese. The side fruit was honeydew, cantaloupe, and grapes - all of which were ripe and delicious. I took half the sandwich and almost all the fruit home to devour for lunch the next day. A pub! A real pub! Every town should have a pub, and any town that has a pub would be so lucky as to have this pub! Let's get the important stuff out of the way first - pubs are social, often crowded, loud sports bars that have amazing (if unhealthy) food, well-loved beer taps, friendly staff (many of whom will heckle you) and a fun, lively atmosphere. They also tend to like and appreciate a good dog, and have a knack for making beer mixed drinks that sound awful on paper, but come out delicious. Pubs are not places where you'll find peace and quiet, romantic ambiance, and super-formal staff. That said, Dugan's is a place you go to have fun! We came in on a Sunday afternoon and sat out on the patio, where we were seated with our very grateful dog (well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome on the patio) to grab a few drinks before heading home. And it was a blast! We wound up chatting with all the other patrons on the patio, who were all very friendly and fun sit by. Major props to Dugan's for having a wine list acceptable to my wife, and for getting me to try something called a "Blue Irishman" that turned out to be just the thing for a hot afternoon in the sun! We also split the Caesar salad with Salmon - top marks for that! It was sizable, the dressing was delicious, and the salmon was some of the most perfectly cooked I've ever had. A heads-up though, SO MUCH CHEESE. It was delicious aged parmesan, so I was all about it, but there was a lot of it. That trend also continues with the cheese fries, which looked (and smelled!) incredible. So the place isn't super clean but it's casual which is nice. Service was pretty good. The place was busy but it didn't take long to get our food. Cheese sticks are seriously so good! Like best I've ever had. My boyfriend got a burger with onion rings & he said he loved it! I got the turkey & Swiss sandwich with fries & it was really good but kinda small. Really nice downtown pub, with surprising outdoor dog-friendly patio. We were able to watch an important (to us) NBA playoff game, eat a good meal and have our dog alongside! Amazing dog friendly staff and fellow patrons. Great neighborhood vibe in a downtown (near downtown?) location! I've been to Dugan's several times since they opened, but after tonight's experience, I felt obligated to post a long overdue review. We showed up with a group of 20 without a reservation, and after we started pushing tables together, they moved us to the party room. The party room itself wasn't anything to write home about, and was a bit isolated from the rest of the bar, but it was quiet, and gave us a chance to visit without having to scream over the guitarist. We were having an afterparty for a film screening, and joked about how the party room felt a bit like setting up in a conference room somewhere for a table read. But Jon, our server was friendly and efficient, and my glass of Guinness was never empty. I've eaten here several times, and have also been here for brunch and the bloody Mary bar. Irish pub faire is pretty hard to mess up, and I've never had any complaints. Tonight, I tried the fish n' chips for the first time. I was disappointed that there were no hush puppies, and the fish fillets were so thick that they kind of fell apart. I don't normally complain about portions being too big, but I would have rather had 3 medium sized pieces than two Fred Flinstone Brontosaurus burger sized pieces. if you show up here with a more reasonable sized party and get to sit in the main dining area, there are a lot of fun activities here: trivia, karaoke, fantasy football, and I assume world cup watch parties and darts tourneys. First time we have been here, probably not the last. The food was so good, and authentic. They have a big fireplace, which gave it a little bit of romance. If you need someone to take care of you while you are at Dugan's in Little Rock, ask for Becca. Please try the BLT sandwich. Never seen so much thick bacon on one sandwich. It's fabulous! The mushroom burger and Fish & Chips are excellent as well. I also had the Bangers & Mash on one visit. It's pretty rich so just take your time eating it. It's quite a lot to take in. My British hubby is hard to please when it comes to finding affordable restaurant food in the States. He believes 99% of it is complete and utter "rubbish," so it was a great relief to discover Dugans in Little Rock. Our waiter made an immediate impression by helping Eddie find the perfect beer. (Apparently Brits do NOT drink Guinness in winter - that is a warm weather refreshment. Eddie actually expected the tap would be unused at this time...we won't get into the fact that in much of the U.S. the Guinness tap is fairly unused at *any* time.) In the end Eddie was quite pleased with his beer, which boasted a proper pour. He was also pleased with his steak - a minor miracle in itself since he can't seem to find the sweet spot between rare and medium rare. Eddie enjoyed the flavor and was pleased to have a fresh horseradish even if it wasn't made in-house. He was nearly gobsmacked to get fresh, properly cooked asparagus as one of his sides. The chips were hand-cut nice and thick, and double-fried properly. I enjoyed a hamburger that had a good flavor, though I suspect it contained dairy in the meat mixture. Speaking of dairy, we were shown a shepherd's pie going to another table since I'd asked about it, and while it looked beautiful, Eddie was appalled to see it covered with cheese. British customers may wish to request no cheese if you haven't grown accustomed to our fondness for the stuff. We noted the dartboard was well in use and the crowd was pleasant. Though we missed the owner, he stopped in during our visit and chatted with some of the other diners. A staff member came around to all of the tables to ask after each one and she answered all of our questions with a very pleasant demeanor. Irish fare is one of my favorite types of food. I prepare many such recipes at home myself. My husband and I went in for drinks and dinner during a football game. We have frequented the other awesome Irish bar in the area and decided to give this one a go. Let me start out saying that our service was excellent, which is why 2 stars was given. We're greeted at the door by the bartenders and told to sit where we like. We were promptly served our drinks and food in a timely manner. The food: subpar at the very best. We ordered the appetizer trio with fried mushrooms, onion rings and fried jalapeños. Without the ranch each item was tasteless. No flavor at all. These items are obviously not seasoned with anything but flour. Thank god for the ranch. My husband ordered the Dublin Coddle. He didn't even finish it. It was flavorless and greasy. I had the Shepard's Pie. Now, I make this at home about 10 different ways. This was the worst I have ever had. Minimal gravy that tasted like clams. Apparently no salt whatsoever. No flavor other than a fishy taste. No amount of salt could help this thing. The carrots were crunchy as if they hadn't been cooked. Again where is the proper seasoning?? Came here based on a recommendation from hotel staff. Place was busy for a Wednesday evening. Casual but trendy location for an Irish pub style fare. Had good beer on tap. Went with the recommendation of the waitress for the bacon brussel sprouts, and was not disappointed. Very good and certainly wasn't your typical. Unfortunately I do not recall what my meal was called, but was a fish in a broth with various traditional Irish sausage and potatoes. It was nothing that I have had before but tasted very good. We've been to this place many times. My husband loves Irish beer. We don't live in Little Rock, but we visit here 3-4 times a year. The food is really good - better than most Irish pubs. Also, they have some gluten-friendly selections, which I appreciate. Don't eat here if you're Celiac or have trouble with a little cross-contamination. There's nothing we've eaten there that wasn't very good. Their pan-fried Brussels Sprouts are fantastic. Their steak salad is really good (huge!). Their regular steak is also really good. My husband loves their fish and chips. Also, their prices are very reasonable, especially compared to other Little Rock restaurants. Their Wednesday night karaoke is really fun, too!
