Was here with my sister in law today to see her ophthalmologist due to a decrease in her long distance sight. Arrived at 9am and left at 11:55am! I Understand that she needed to have testing done which was completed timely. The issue was waiting for the doctor which she didn't see until 11:40am which is an excessive waiting time and unacceptable. Not sure what is happening in the clinic area but whomever is scheduling needs to be more accurate and considerate of the patient's time and toll it takes on them as most are in their 70s or older. I hope this review helps others who receive care there which is why I am posting this. On a positive note the check in and check out personnel are efficient. read more

I had eye surgery here a few years ago Dr Asrani did a great job. I rave about the outcome because at my age now I still don't need glasses to read at night. If you need eye surgery because of failing eyesight ask for Dr Asrani. at Duke Hospital- vision. read more

I actually went to the center at Holly Springs and saw Dr. Fowler. She is a wonderful surgeon and person. She listened to what my concerns were, answered all of my questions, and was very professional. So was her staff.. all very professional and great energy throughout the office. I had amazing results from my surgery. She is also very skilled at injections in her cosmetic office. I highly recommend. Short wait times and she gives her patients enough time during the visits to address any concerns. My surgery was life changing. I couldn't see very well driving because I had so much excessive skin on my eyelids. I can see so much better and have younger looking eyes in the process. Before and after pics. I have been a patient at Duke Eye Center for 10 plus years. I was always happy with my exam. However, this morning I needed an emergency exam because of a potentially dangerous eye problem. I was shocked to learn that I could not see my doctor or any other doctor in the practice. I was told that the only way I could get an emergency appointment was to go to Durham on Erwin Road near the Duke Hospital.. When your sight is compromised is not the time to be told that you have to travel a long distance in traffic. Shame on Duke Health for such poor service for an established patient of many years. This is inhumane and potentially illegal. read more

I cannot believe that Duke Eye Center of Cary does not have provisions to handle emergency eye problems. I have never been turned away from any doctor's office when I had an emergency. The best they could do was send me to Durham even though my eye is swollen and I cannot see well out of it and should not be on the road driving that distance. I have been a patient here for several years and have had a surgical procedure done by Dr. Boeheke. I called early this morning and it is now noon and I still have not heard from anyone in the office. The answering girl was going have a technician call me to give me some options. What are we supposed to do in cases like this??? My next question is why does Durham take emergencies but not the Cary office nor the Raleigh office?? read more

The only reason they get 2 stars is because the Dr we see is good . The wait times and processing at both the Durham and Cary locations are absolutely ridiculous . Not to mention the size of the Cary location waiting room is super small causing the long waits even more of a total mess . I know Duke has a six sigma process improvement team but I am unsure of why they have not addressed the Eye Center issues . My family utilizes Duke for many specialities and Dr types at different locations . The Eye Center is awful . read more

Like the reviewer from a year ago... the only reason I tolerate the wait is because of the staff. I never had any issues with appointments before 10am, but I was sitting in the waiting room yet at 1:15 pm, and my appt was for 11:15 am. I was taken back for the beginning of the exam by a tech after waiting 10 minutes. BTW...they have a whiteboard telling you how far behind they are... I am now waiting to see the doctor...eyes dilated. Was given the option to reschedule when I inquired about how much longer it will be before I see the doctor. At this point, I'm not waiting again. My 11:15 appt was an almost 2.5 hour adventure for just a check up after a procedure. My advice, Duke, fix this problem of appointment scheduling at your Cary office. Based on other reviews and comments I've heard while waiting, It's a regular thing. I'd recommend not to bring small children, or be prepared with snacks and toys to keep them entertained. And don't go there hungry as you will become hangry! And, I will never schedule an appointment later than 9:00am here ever again. Thankfully I don't have to go very often! read more

We have taken our son with Down Syndrome here and the doctors are great, but we were billed $400 for a normal check up appointment. Two doctors spent about 3 minutes performing the check up and no formal tests were performed, just a visual inspection of his eyes and asking me some brief questions. $400 is a lot for what was done. I tried to call and speak with the billing specialist and was told, they have a single flat charge for each appointment, regardless of the amount of work or time needed and that it is controlled by Duke. $400 for about 5 minutes is just not right. read more

I've been to the Duke eye center on Falls of the nuese road in Raleigh dozens of times. Never thought to check in . The service here is friendly, warm & caring. The doctors are tops in their field. I see Dr Herndon. I know for a fact, people see him from up & down the east coast. He specializes in and he takes really good care of them. read more

Very happy with Dr. Walsh! She always answers all my questions, is very friendly and knowledgeable. YES, you may have a wait in this office upwards of two hours because the doctors are specialist and in very high demand. However, recently they fit me in with a next day appointment and my wait time was much shorter. As a patient for over 5 years, I can happily recommend Duke Eye Center of Cary! read more

I have not actually met Dr. Laura yet. I have been simply trying to make an appointment for my adopted daughter who has an eye condition where her eyes don't focus and that will need surgery. Her pediatrician assured me Dr. Laura would be wonderful. If only I could get past the terrible desk help! The receptionist Christine was absolute the WORST young lady to speak with. Made made me like I was being interrogated and because I didn't know the exact eye condition medical name, she refused to continue to make an appointment. Christine refused to give me her full name, or transfer me to an office supervisor and then hung up on me. My second attempt to the office via phone was an equally horrible and rude woman. I again repeated all my information letter by letter and insurance numbers only to be given the same run-around before she finally giving me an open date 2 months out when I practically had to beg!! What is the deal?? I'm not the doctor, that is why I'm coming to have my daughter diagnosed. What audacity. And she didn't even repeat my app info at the end of the call. I had to ask. What a joke! These girls need to be fired. I can only hope my actual experience with Dr. Laura redeems this experience. read more

Don't use this practice. One doctor (Priestley) cancelled appointment for my son four hours before his scheduled time. Had no option for a replacement appointment and when I asked for options, they had none to give. I had to call to reschedule with a central appointment line. There was no availability until the next year. Zero accountability. Going to the doctor is an anxious event for my autistic son. I won't risk this happening again. I have changed providers and encourage others to do the same. read more

I've been coming to this office for years and it has progressively gotten worse. Don't come here unless you have about half a day to waste. The wait times are as long as an emergency room with no apology at all. I'm switching to another glaucoma specialist in the area as soon as possible. read more
