I was in Augusta for business and ate dinners from here two nights in a row! The food was good to me. I got the Karl's catfish plate with the two filets. It was two filets selected but you get four filets and two cheese corn muffins. I also got the Arnold Palmers and they were cold and refreshing. The first night dinner was perfect. The catfish was fried semi-hard so had a nice crisp and was tender inside. I had collard greens as a side on both nights and they were bumping. They weren't canned greens or didn't taste like them and they were cooks right and there was meat in them (they were seasoned). The first night I had the bbq corn on the cob it was good and had a kind of peppery type of seasoning coating on it I got the two cheese corn muffins both nights. And on the second night my second side was the watermelon (seasonal fruit) the melon was sweet and fresh. The only thing I will say is that I could tell that maybe there was a different chef/cook the second evening order because the fish was good and tasty but was not fried semi-hard like I liked it cooked (like the evening before) and the cheesy corn muffins on that second night was burnt baby! They had black burns on the outer sides. But guess what? I would still eat there again if ever in Augusta. I don't know much about the in restaurant service as both nights I ordered by a meal delivery service. Oh yeah the Arnold Palmers were large sized and icy and tasty and again different people making them different nights the one from my second night order was super sweet to me but still good. The only improvement I'd ask for this place is to get some hot sauce for goodness sake! They have tartar sauce but I wanted some cocktail sauce and hot sauce for my catfish. read more

First time trying Jim 'N Nick's BBQ, and overall I'd definitely come back! The restaurant was clean, and our food came out nice and hot, which I always appreciate. The woman at the register was helpful when I asked what was popular on the menu since it was our first visit, but she wasn't very welcoming. She never really smiled, and I wasn't sure how ordering and seating worked at first. On the other hand, the server who brought our food was super friendly and made a much better impression. I ordered the ribs with baked beans and collard greens, along with the brisket mac & cheese bites. The ribs had really good barbecue flavor, although they were a little tougher than I'd prefer. The brisket mac & cheese bites were delicious, especially with the dipping sauce. The collard greens were pretty decent--slightly bland, but still enjoyable. The baked beans started off really good, but after a few bites they became a little monotonous and had a slight sour taste. I think they'd be even better with some ground beef or sausage mixed in. My son ordered the smashburger with mac & cheese. The mac & cheese was cheesy, gooey, and probably one of our favorite sides. The smashburger was just okay. It tasted like a regular burger, and I was expecting more of that crispy, charred edge that makes a smashburger special. The only other thing I'd mention is that we felt a little rushed while we were eating. My experience at this location was not good! Last night (approx 7pm) I stopped in for a Brisket plate, sandwich, whatever- I just wanted some Brisket. Pulled up to drive thru and this is what I hear,"hello, just to inform you we are out of Ribs, Brisket, Turkey and Chicken." I'm in shock, so I did not say anything for a while. I'm looking at the menu, it's 7pm, I'm at a BBQ place with NO BBQ. The voice come back and says, "if you have any questions, let me know", "we have smoked wings, catfish, burgers that are great options". I'm still trying to get myself together, so I'm still quiet. Finally I ask for the Smoked Wings (btw: I dislike chicken on a bone) yes my fault for ordering. I order the habanero smoked wings (6) and Mac and cheese...$17! I did not inspect the bag before pulling off because I just knew this was not going to taste good- I KNEW IT. The lady who took my order just did not represent a place that serves GOOD food. When I received my bag, it was sticky ( paper bag sticky?) and had BBQ sauce fingerprints. My hands were nasty from just trying to go in bag (yuck). I get home. Wash my hands, pull out my food and there I have Smoked Honey Habanero Chicken Wing Soup. The presentation was Horrible! They did not care how they over sauced those large chicken pieces. Some of the wings were split (wingettes) and some had the two pieces attached. Mac and cheese was missing the cheese only had the Mac! I have not been to this place since they opened, it's because I'd heard the food was not good since the people left who opened the restaurant. What's sad is Jim'N Nicks use to have a good name in other cities I've visited. I'm not from Augusta, but I've been here a while. I wish employees would take more pride in their appearance and service. If this is your chosen profession treat it as such. It doesn't matter if you earn $8/hr or $80/hr. Managers should demand etiquette and staff should want to display etiquette. It starts with how YOU LOOK. How the workplace is kept. How the service is provided. How the Customer feels when they leave! I just want everyone to do better! Be better! BTW: I donated $17 to Jim 'N Nicks BBQ- I thought I could not get past the presentation to even taste the food! But I had my husband remove the meat from the bone, I placed meat in air fryer and the little meat I tasted-was not too bad. I did not try the Mac & Cheese. Traveling and stopped for early dinner. We've been to Jim and Nicks in other locations before. This is the newer walk-thru and order style and they bring it to your table. Staff was friendly and establishment was clean. Ordered a couple pulled pork sandwiches, one with fries and the other with baked beans. Also came with 4 cheddar rolls. Both sandwiches were of good value and size. I prefer a hotter sauce than the regular bbq available on the tables. If you're the same, I highly recommend you request their sweet and spicy (habanero) sauce. It is perfect for this sandwich. Overall a great experience and so very tasty. Good bbq dinner with a colleague tonight. One of the more popular dining options in the south is BBQ. This one we chose tonight is a small chain, but offers an excellent bbq dining option. It's not a sitdown restaurant. You place your order at the counter then go find a place to eat. They bring out the food to you. Once you sit down, you're served with a plate of warm biscuits. There's some sort of cheese or something inside them, but it wasn't a distracting ingredient, just different. You always like it when you get the opportunity to try multiple types of bbq meat. The option for tonight was bbq rib and pulled pork. Not only are the portions very good. (had to get a to go box) but both meats tasted super. The pulled pork was tender and juicy. The ribs were large and plentiful. The ribs could've been a little more "fall off the bone", but we're good nonetheless. There's only one type of sauce to put on the ribs, but it was a good and not too tangy. With this meal option, you get two choices of sides. Being a big fan of coleslaw that was one side. The other side was corn on the cob. The coleslaw was sweet tasting. The corn on the cob had a bit of a hot bite to it. Both were fantastic. So we wanted to try something new and this was always a let's try one day so we did. Just coming in was really nice and felt comfy. The service was amazing and "Ariel" was my favorite. She heard yelling to my husband about getting more cheese biscuits and she was awesome and for us more and I devoured those. We got the pulled pork plate with baked beans and potato salad and the hub got 1lb ribs with flavored corn and Mac and cheese. Everything was so goof and flavorful. The only thing was our meat was hardly even Luke warm so that was a bummer but still was delicious. We would definitely come back here on service alone. Food is a little salty for my taste buds (Mac and Cheese). BBQ Chicken was a little salty too and the ribs seem to require extra strength teeth. The greens were mostly stems. I was planning to try the restaurant around the 4th, but we had a small office party for promotions and some of our leadership purchased catering. This actually solved my curiosity. Really enjoyed my experience dining at this restaurant. I thought the price was a little steep, but the quality and taste of their products were worth it. I got their two meat sampler combo of the brisket and grilled chicken. The brisket was so soft, it just melted apart. The chicken was a little too dry for my taste, but I did enjoy the grilled after taste. Their corn bread muffin, least I think that what it was that comes with your entrees was delicious! It had some melted cheese on top and the two side that paired really well was their chili and Mac and cheese. Their chili has chunks of brisket inside and it wasn't spicy or anything. Really enjoyed the meal, definitely will be back if I'm craving bbq again. Highly recommend this place. Plenty of parking and the lines aren't that long. The orders do take about 15 minutes to process, so I recommend calling ahead. For dining in, there are plenty of tables and tvs to provide entertainment. Although we didn't order any alcohol, the bar area is very nice. They have coat/purse hooks and cozy ambiance. The bartender was very friendly and she held open the front door for us and checked with customers to see if they needed anything since it was early and the bar was not busy yet. Wings were good - honey habanero were the best - not too spicy but a nice sweet heat. The glaze gave it a nice texture too. The buffalo were a bit dry - not a wet sauce, per se. A decent blue cheese accompanied along with a few slivers of carrots and celery. My dining mates liked their pulled pork and we all had some little cornbread (?) muffins. The onion rings were okay - it was a different batter; almost like a panko? But they were crispy and held together nicely through a bite. Same as everyone else...I love the cheese rolls here! Be warned that they are addictive and will keep you coming back for more. I love the loaded baked potato here...I always sub for brisket instead of the pork bbq because that's just my preferred cut. It does cost extra. Never tried it with the pork bbq bit would never go back...the combination of the brisket tips with crispy bacon is perfect with the soft fluffy baked potato. Comes with 2 cheese rolls...and I'll usually order an extra half-dozen. The brisket by itself is tender and flavorful...also really like the chicken Jalepeno sausage...they sell them as add-on by the link now so I don't have to buy weight-based. I usually get the potato every 1-2 weeks. I always say I'll try something different...but never really stray away from this potato. I try loaded ones from other places but its never the same....Even got my coworkers hooked on it. Hubby gets the pork BBQ and it's pretty good...tender and flavorful. There wasn't enough room for us to sit together inside so we were seated on the patio which is not ideal during pollen season but the outdoor tables and seating had been cleaned pretty well so it ended up not being too bad. They did have outdoor heaters that they turned on at our request. The service was professional and polite. The food was better than expected. They had gluten-free options. I had the JNN Classic Pulled Pork with two sides of fresh fruit. The fresh fruit was actually cold and fresh, which didn't seem to happen often at restaurants. I came here around lunch time and as I would expect this place was packed! The parking lot was very busy so my wife had to park next door but it looks busier than it is due to the drive thru. There was about a 20 minute wait but it went by fine since I was presented with a menu to look over while I waited. It is an order at the counter and sit down with a table number type place that I wasn't expecting but it helps speed up the ordering process when it's busy. The manager asked my wife and I if we wanted to sit at the bar and order food instead of the line and I am glad we did because the bar area is very nice and we were able to order like a tradition restaurant and grab a few drinks while we were lucky to have great outdoor weather. We order the brisket chili cheese wedges which were huge potato wedges covered in flavor! My wife and I each got different pork to share, the traditional and the Carolina. Both were fantastic and the flavors were good, nothing crazy but what I would expect for pork from a bbq place. The Mac and cheese side was super good, I highly recommend getting that paired with the baked beans. All in all this is a great spot, I have nothing bad to say and would absolutely go back for another round of new food options. Food: My wife ordered the three (3) meats plate consisting of Pork Ribs, Brisket and Pulled Pork. I ordered the two meat plate consisting of Brisket (my favorite) and BBQ Chicken. Our sides were Mac and Cheese, Bar-B-Q Corn on the Cobb and Deviled Eggs. The Brisket was sliced thin, lean, tender and complimented with a good sauce. The Chicken was moist, tender and flavorful. The Bar-B-Q Corn on the Cobb reminds me of Street Corn... tender and tasty. The Mac and Cheese was a good side. Oh, the Cheese Muffins were delicious! Service: shot out to our server "Jada" she was excellent. Ok, my wife and I arrived about 15 minutes early and the parking lot was full of people waiting for opening. We stayed at the door and others followed, around 10 minutes til opening staff came out and got the line that had formed in order (appreciated that) another passed out menus for us to look at while we waited. Door dashed it. The food was still warm when received. I enjoyed the 1/4 dark meat barbecue with baked beans and fries. I was very tasty, the meat was smoked through and through and the beans were savory with a slightly smoked taste and not sweet (thank goodness). The BBQ here is amazing. It's a regional chain, but you'd never guess it was "chain" food. I highly recommend the pulled pork. The brisket and ribs have a heavy smoke flavor, but they are so good. Hands down the best baked Mac'n'cheese I've ever had. On top of that the staff is amazing. All of them. I have never had a poor experience here with any of the staff and that's saying something in Augusta. That and their drive thru make this a great option for a quick lunch or dinner. We are obsessed with their burgers! I know....a burger at a BBQ restaurant? Trust me. Their burger rivals most that are offered in Augusta. Highly recommended ordering 100+ of their cheese biscuits. Sandwiches are on the smaller side for pulled pork (not pictured) but tasty nonetheless. The sauces we got were fine, wish I had gotten some different ones honestly. The sides are a little laughably small for what I expected but the flavor was there while they lasted. Cheese biscuits were a little strange and spongey, one bite size. The to-go process was simple, order was ready on time. The employee I encountered was pleasant. The restaurant was clean and decently busy. Barbecue franchises make me nervous. I'm looking for a cinder block building, the size of a small shed, with smoke rolling from the top and an aroma that beckons even the strongest of vegetarians. But I knew their origin was in Alabama so I had to believe they would remain true to their roots. And thankfully, those roots were right on point. As I entered the parking lot, I found the smoke and aroma awaiting me. And I want to mention that the parking lot operates as one big circle so if you don't find a spot just make a loop. Immediately my eyes were drawn to the Anthony Bourdain quote painted on one wall, "Barbecue may not be the road to world peace, but it's a start." I soon discovered the covered outdoor seating (with ceiling fans and heat), but opted for inside on my first visit. I did not realize, but you place your order then find a seat. And there is plenty of signage to remind you of that. Now let me add, in case that seems like a deal breaker for you, that they have staff walking around checking on you once you're seated. My go-to is always pulled pork, baked beans, and slaw. This time I splurged and ordered peach tea, which they were out of but the sweet tea was on point (aka, syrup through a straw). When it's all said and done, I would place them above a number of other franchise spots but I still like my hole-in-the-wall joints. I had the pulled pork plate with collards and fries. The bbq had no flavor and seemed soggy. I've never used the word soggy to describe pulled bbq before but........it was.
