I love coming here with friends to enjoy a good Meal and have some Good drinks. I've had their beer and wine, they have a wine called Lodi red from Lodi, Ca where I'm From which I thought was pretty cool! Staff all enjoy their jobs they're always in good moods whenever we come and are fun, attentive and personable. I've tried a few of their desserts as well! Met a friend here for lunch. Arrived round 12, there are two entrances and two different parking lots. We were greeted by Noel and he said to pick anywhere to sit. After browsing the menu we ordered a water with lemon, Ahi Cobb salad, a 1/2 BALT sandwich with cup of Fidel soup and a root beer. My friend said her salad was fresh an flavorful! My meal was great! The sourdough bread was fresh as well as the items in it, avocado, tomato, bacon, lettuce. I had a few sad pieces of lettuce but over all it was good. I love the cowboy decor and the seats are nicely placed. They have two TVs and a full bar. It was a great atmosphere and will be back to try their breakfast and dinner menu! We consider this a 'unique destination' type of meal - and while visiting Casa Grande, you might just find this one interesting. We had no idea John Wayne use to own a ton of property for his cattle farming near here, and the Francisco Grande hotel was apparently where he kept a Penthouse suite while visiting the area. The hotel also has a rich history tracking to the San Francisco Giants training facility- there are walls of pictures and memorabilia for both. There are some pretty cool pictures of John Wayne playing golf- no golf cart- his horse carries his clubs. Who knew? Anyway, we sat in Dukes Lounge for lunch- there is a bigger dining room (Legends) but they were pretty much encouraging bar seating since it was quiet and rainy when we visited. The bartender was hustling to take care of everyone, was friendly and efficient. I had a craving for ahi tuna and this was one of the only places in town that had a menu item in salad format It was HUGE- and wasabi ranch was spot on. My only complaint was there was a bit of 'fat' here and there making the ahi a bit chewy (which I hate for sushi grade ahi). $21 Hubs had the mahi tacos (grilled) and enjoyed them. The plate is served with just two tacos and then a pile of tortilla chips / small cup of salsa. $17 My house chard was $8 and hubs beer was $4.15. So about $55 for lunch. The bar is gorgeous and would be a fun happy hour spot for a local or if you're staying at the hotel. We did note there appeared to be a soccer team in training - so it's awesome the sports focus continues. Great place to sequester a team to practice. read more

We enjoyed it! There were 4 of us. Our friends have been before. Fun atmosphere and great service. We started with drinks-I had an old fashioned (wish they had better cherries like luxardo) and my husband and friend had dirty martinis and my friend's husband had a margarita. He didn't love the margarita but we tasted it and really liked it because it was not too sweet. Had the bruschetta appetizer-it was really good and different. The Caesar salad was great. At first, we were disappointed. We had viewed the breakfast menu for Legends, the main dining room at the hotel. We discovered Legend is closed for breakfast/lunch during the summer and only lunch is served at Dukes. We were going to leave, but the server suggested we take a look at their lunch menu. She then called the manager to find out if it was possible to get some of the breakfast menu items, because she over heard me say that it was my husband's birthday, and that he had his heart set on a breakfast menu item. Manager came into the restaurant and offered to fix a special steak and eggs meal for him. Of course we had to stay. We both noticed they had a poke bowl offering, so we tried that. And I couldn't resist their version of the grilled cheese sandwich and tomato bisque. The bartender also made a special mango strawberry margarita for us. Then they gave him the carrot cake. What could have been a disappointment turned out pretty nice! Now, for the food: the steak and eggs were perfect. The poke was good, but served over chilled rice. It would have been better if it were room temp or slightly warm. The sauce needed more sesame oil. The cheese sandwich was so soft (yet sturdy) and good! Definitely coming back! read more

My wife and I really enjoyed our dinner at Duke's Lounge. The food and grounds feel upscale, but the ambiance is relaxed. Our waiter, who also manned the bar, was very helpful. He made sure to keep our water filled, but he wasn't overly engaged with us. A great balance. As we ate our food, we soaked in the history of the place, facilitated by the rustic brick wall, mementos including saddles, old photos, a portrait of John Wayne, cowboy boots and hats, and so on. Up first: The onion rings. They were freshly made, from scratch, and were on point. I also got the shrimp cocktail, which was delicious. The chef sent us some pita bread with some kind of marinara sauce. Very thoughtful! My wife got some sort of meat in some sort of sauce. I think it was a chipotle cream sauce. Maybe chicken. I was kind of distracted by the fish and chips that I had ordered, so I didn't pay enough attention to her meal. The fish was prepared just like a good fish and chips should be prepared. Ah, my wife had some kind of carrot side dish. She doesn't like carrots as a side dish ... but she LOVED this. Well done, chef! After dinner, we walked the grounds for a bit. It's pretty wild that such a beautiful hotel would be sitting here in an oasis in the middle of the desert ... but here it was! We'll be back. Had some friends telling me how good the wings were here. Decided to see for myself. Sat at the bar. Very nice place. Clean and roomy. The staff was professional and very knowledgeable. I think one of their name was Jolonda, but all the staff was fantastic. The beer was very cold. The wings were great. I ordered them sauce on the side. I got only flats. I was a little disappointed about that. The flats were great. The spinach salad was large for a side salad. The salad was fresh and delicious. I'll be going back. The food here is really good, so far we've ordered the fish and chips, the Chasseur chicken, the crème brûlée, the filet (would definitely not recommend the filet) and the Marsala chicken. Visited here a couple of times with my golf group after a round. Liked it so much, I brought my wife here last week. So far every meal I have had has been great. Chicken Salad sandwich, Chicken Salad, Sliders, and their pinwheels. All have been very good! Love the old John Wayne decor, and love the atmosphere. My wife and I had drinks and dinner at Duke's two weeks ago. We want to give a shout out to the wait staff at Dukes: Amarah, Lourdes, and Geri. These ladies did a great job, bar service was prompt, and enjoyable. Lourdes and Amarah were smiling and informative, telling us about the history of Duke's while serving us cocktails before dinner. They just did a great job, and we enjoyed talking with them. Dinner was outstanding! We didn't know what to expect, but we're pleasantly surprised. I ordered calamari as an appetizer, which was server with roasted peppers and a really delicious butter/lemon dipping sauce. My wife had the Sriracha Ahi Tuna salad, it was a meal for her and really exceptional in taste and plating! I ordered the Mahi Mahi Tacos, and again, it was really delicious! I don't know who the chef is, but he/she is really blowing' it up! Kudos to the chef and kitchen staff! One food item that blew us away more than anything was the pita bread served prior to our dinner arriving. The pita was light and flakey, cut into pie shape wedges with a garlic olive oil aioli that was out of this world! We asked for seconds and our server Geri, obliged! I could go on and on, and hate to make this sound too good to be true, but I advise everyone to check out Francisco Grande and Duke's Bar! We will definitely be back! This lounge is located at the Francisco Grande Hotel and Golf Resort. It is absolutely amazing. We were told we about the place from friends but as many times as we'd been by it, we never knew it had a lounge or a restaurant. They definitely need a sign in front. It is fantastic. The decor is amazing and there is so much history with John Wayne and even Will Rogers around the area. There's a bar and a restaurant in this hotel and golf resort. We stopped in the lounge for lunch. The bartender was super friendly and filled us in a background of the place and her service was perfect. Then, there was the food. It also deserved five stars. It was delicious. We will definitely be going back. read more

Friends told us we needed to try Francisco Grande or at least the bar area (Dukes Lounge) so we went one evening with another couple and ended up going their a week later with different couple! Just a few miles outside of Casa Grande, is this beautiful old hotel/golf resort which is also a world class soccer training center. Yes, there is alot of John Wayne memorabilia as well as Giants photos etc, but the lounge is pretty cool, just for the ambiance! Their food though!!:) No reservations are needed at the lounge and you can order off the restaurant menu. We went early (5:30-6) on a week night and had a wonderful experience. We went to Francisco Grande for the Thanksgiving buffet. There were plenty of selections to choose from but the experience was definitely underwhelming. Starting with the gravy which was so salty that it was almost inedible and overpowered everything else on the plate, to the green beans which looked appealing but we're almost raw, and the carving station the which was was a misnomer since the attendants physically tore apart the bird. The highlight was definitely the desert choices but it never came close to compensating for the rest of the meal. read more

Not your typical bar/pub food here! Full sandwiches, wraps and appetizers in big enough portions to fill you up or take some of it home for later. Don't expect fast service, but you will definitely get friendly service. Janice was our waitress and she was very friendly. I was impressed how she memorized everyone's order and nothing was missed. This place is a little out of the way and a lot of people don't realize that there is a hotel in casa grande called the Francisco Grande. It's a really nice property, and Duke's is the bar/lounge section of the dining on site. They serve lunch, dinner and drinks and they do serve the full menu of the adjacent Legends restaurant. The atmosphere is really nice. This place is also called the John Wayne room, but I'll let you figure that out for yourself when you go. I highly recommend this option for a relaxing dinner with friends. The food is consistent and good and the prices fair. The service can be a touch slow when they get really busy but overall it is great. read more

One of Casa Grande's finest restaurants and they are few and far between in this town! However the meals are always consistent at the Francisco Grande. They serve excellent lunches and dinner! The portions are so large I end up taking some home. I prefer eating in the Dukes lounge, it's cozy, friendly place and the waitress Janice there always remembers our names when we go there every several months or so. It's also fun to tour the grounds of that hotel because it has quite a history. As it used to be the practice ball park for the San Francisco Giants and then the Los Angeles Dodgers! read more

Not what I expected based on other reviews. We went there yesterday for lunch. At 11:45 when we arrived there was only 1 other person in the restaurant. That should have been a clue. My sister and I both ordered the prime rib panini. After we placed our order and quite a while later, the waiter came back and said they didn't have Gouda cheese. I ordered it with Swiss, my sister ordered it without cheese. When the sandwiches did arrive, the meat could have been prime rib several days before. By the time we got ours, it appeared to be very thinly sliced roast beef that had been crisped under a broiler. The sandwiches also did not have the horseradish sauce described on the menu. The onion rings were good. But for $16, the sandwiches were far below par. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Neatly manicured lawns and palm trees with a baseball field among this resort, the pictures on the wall near the bar/restaurant section tell the story of great moments in the history of baseball. As you're sitting in the bar area munching on fish tacos with the sports screen in the corner of your eye, you watch the young generation of baseball aspire to their goals. One can almost hear the baseball strike the bat and the home run erupt in a distant roar. Not to mention legend John Wayne whose ghost still visits the resort. The lounge dining experience is average thus far, but the surrounding environment makes up the difference. read more
