    a woman holding a cake
    Noe A.

(Español abajo) I do not recommend this bakery. I purchased two cakes, one marble and one Tres Leches. The cakes were 30 minutes late, one had the wrong name, the words were not centered, and the image was cut off (see pictures for details). The Marble cake was decent and no major complaints. The Tres Leches (Encanto) was dry and no sign of it being a Tres Leches. It was most likely a plain vanilla cake. When we went back to ask for a partial or full refund, the older gentleman that originally took our order was rude and told us to leave. He said we had underpaid for the cake (which he personally quoted us for with not indication that we were getting a discount) and therefore we did not have any rights ("if a person will pay [full price] and pays, then they have all the rights. But a $45 dollar cake, there's no point"). He also stated that I "had taken too long to order" - when I went in, I was just inquiring and trying to learn. He did seem impatient but I thought I had every right to ask for a minute to step a way and ask for advice from my family.

Left everything last minute for planning my daughter's birthday party. I realized I had not ordered a cake yet. I normally order from a bakery from SE when they advised they no longer had capacity for another cake. I was looking on reviews online and decided to go somewhere local. I put in the order with reference to a cake they had online. It was a little pricey but being last minute I was okay with it with hopes that the cake would look great and taste delicious. They texted me (3) days before the party to confirm what design I wanted. They executed perfectly everyone loved the cake I would come here again. Im so happy I no longer need to drive to Portland for cakes.

They have a little restaurant/food cart/kitchen type thing set up outside of Dulce Tentacion. The food is DELICIOUS and its ALWAYS busy so we aren't the only ones who think its yummylicious! I took away a star bc one of the sandwiches was so delicious but the paper stuck to it pretty bad so it was messy to eat.

$90 DESPERDICIADOS.

I ordered a tres leche cake (Bavarian cream filling) for my daughters birthday and it was moist and delicious and a huge hit at her party. Everyone asked me where I found such a beautiful cake. The woman who helped me place the order was also very friendly and helpful, asking questions to make sure they did the design to our liking. We will definitely order again, thank you!

W side of Fort Vancouver Wy. between 4th Plain and St. John's Blvd. I came here after seeing the rave reviews for this place and I must say.... I don't think I've ever been tricked so badly in my entire life. By the time I was finished I was waiting for Ashton Kutcher to come storming in Trucker Cap and all! Service was nice, but the store itself was quite dated, it was dark inside, and even though they did have seating during this cold Winter it was upstairs... no fun for somebody with a walking disability. Now onto the food. I had one of their Pumpkin Spiced Cupcakes: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/julia-bakery-vancouver?select=aIXhHvoCjdsOkURQt3SY0Q#A8oZxpSXwctcspIfJdw65A Looks great right? Looks can be and are deceiving! The frosting was a little too sweet and the vanilla sponge cake proved kind of dry and very flaky. I wasn't really a fan of this cupcake. The rest of their baked goods looked pretty good. Perhaps that is where their raves come from. They have their own lot and the nice thing about the Couv is that you rarely have to be concerned about finding parking! I'm not adding them to my "Black List," but I don't see myself rushing back!

I've been seeing this bakery for quite some time and decided to see what they had for sandwiches. First of all, don't let the outside detour you. It's kind of funky and doesn't look very welcoming. Take a chance and head on in. You'll see beautifully baked breads galore! Today, I was not on a mission for bread but I will be going back for my next yummy loaf. Bread is my weakness and the smell alone made me weak in the knees. Now onto the purpose of my visit. Spicy AND green olives? Yes, please!! There were four sandwiches to choose from. Their version of a sandwich is a baked ball of bread with deliciousness inside. I stopped listening when I heard "spicy" and "green olive" so I cannot tell you with any certainty what was in the other sandwiches. My ball of yummy had beautiful chunks of prosciutto, spicy peppers, green olives, and cheese. It was delicious and very filling. My only critique was the bread to filling ratio. Maybe 3:1, so you must like bread! And it's good soft bread! Of course I had to get a cookie, too! I always go with a chocolate chip cookie when I'm trying a new bakery out... It's a classic. This large round disc of goodness was pretty delicious but not the best I've had. I prefer a softer, doughy-like cookie. This one was crispy but not hard, which was a bonus. It was kind of crumbly which made it a little messy! Don't eat it in your car. Overall, I was satisfied! Plus, the staff person was very friendly! Always a good thing! I will definitely go back. I wish I could give 1/2 stars because I'm undecided about 3 or 4. If my sandwich was slightly less bready and my cookie was slightly more doughy, then it would definitely be a 4!

Salvador delivered my cake to my work today and it was a hit! I used to work at Clark College and this was my go to bakery for birthdays and special occasions. The cake was on point and absolutely beautiful. I love this place!

Wonderful breads. The staff is kinda snarky at the Vancouver Farmers Market...but, how long do you have to deal with them for great bread.

You can always call ahead to ask. But it's great to be able to pick up for a vegan and vegetarian friends. They are generally open on the weekends, as both owners work full-time during the week. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about this tiny bakery. Every single thing is completely handmade from scratch. They take a great pride in everything they produce. Also, every month has a different theme. We've tried their delicious goodies from the cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, and sweet, sticky buns to the cookies and hot cocoa balls. I can honestly say anything we have purchased has been delicious!! Laura makes amazing custom ordered cookies. They take her so long. I'm still amazed. She doesn't order more. Stacy creates custom order cakes. And I know they do customer requested catering; from grand openings to other special events and birthdays. Be aware there is no seating or eating in house here. It's definitely a pick up and go. There's plenty of parking and no steps getting in to the shop. You're truly cannot go wrong here. On Sundays when they have the cinnamon buns and sticky rolls, you definitely want to get there earlier! In my personal opinion, this is the best bakery in the Vancouver and Portland area.

We took both Dads to La Provence. we have always enjoyed the food here. from the croissants with…read moreraspberry jam to the more interesting offerings. Our party was a bit conservative so...we ordered conservativey croissant sandwiches, OH MY GOODNESS, BLTs all around. Stuffed with bacon, lettuce, avocado, cheese and egg, whattt? Absolutely delicious and then, HOUSE MADE Potato Slad to die for. I wanted a quart to take home! We have eaten her many times, Never to be disappointed. The entire staff are welcoming, smiling, happy and welcoming. What more could you ask for? Take me back!

We attempted to visit La Provence around 11A during a previous trip to Vancouver, but the wait was…read moretoo long and we had an extensive drive home ahead of us. This time, we arrived around 9A and were seated approximately 30 minutes later in the very well-heated patio area. Our server was welcoming and returned quickly for our drink order. I chose an oat-milk chai and was not disappointed. For a restaurant presented as a French bistro, I was surprised that there wasn't a single quiche on the menu. I almost ordered the BLT, but I wanted to try something different, so I chose the west coast salmon benedict with provençal potatoes and butternut squash. The hollandaise was tasty, but the benedict itself was mixed for me. It was served on a sliced croissant, which sounded appealing but wasn't sturdy enough for the toppings and quickly became soggy. Thankfully, I had removed the top half and eaten it separately. I was also expecting the thin slices of smoked salmon you might find on a bagel, but instead received a salmon fillet whose smoked flavor was barely noticeable -- perhaps the Hollandaise overwhelmed it. The butternut squash was delicious and outshined the potatoes by several miles. I wish I had asked for an entire side of squash bc some of the potatoes tasted stale, much like McDonald's fries that have been sitting around for a few hours. My daughter ordered the risotto cakes and eggs, which also made me question the "French bistro" identity, since risotto is Italian. SIL had the corned beef hash. Hubby ordered the chef's omelet with a side of bacon. And the grandbabies had pancakes, bacon, and eggs. My family makes it very obvious when food is delicious: lots of nodding, happy sighs, "You need to try this," or completely cleaned plates. Breakfast did not produce any of that. As our server was preparing to close out the tab, we asked for the dessert menu so we can sing happy birthday to one of our grandbabies. We ordered the Versailles cake and a pavlova. The Versailles was the definite winner. Suddenly, there were the yum sounds and the "You need to try this" comments. We all agreed that its light texture and coffee chocolate flavor were wonderfully similar to our beloved cappuccino mousse cake from Schubert's Bakery SF. It wasn't overly sweet, and the velvety dark-chocolate ganache was delicious. I enjoyed it so much that I went home and immediately searched for a Versailles cake recipe, only to discover that "Versailles" apparently isn't an established French dessert, but La Provence's name for its chocolate sponge layered with vanilla, coffee, and dark chocolate mousses. The pavlova was enjoyable, but it inspired nowhere near the enthusiasm of the Versailles. Between the polenta, risotto, pesto, burrata, mascarpone, tiramisu, avocado toast, corned beef hash, Benedicts, and conspicuous absence of quiche, I left wondering how much of the actual menu is French. There are certainly French ingredients, sauces, pastries, and techniques, but the overall experience felt more like a Pacific Northwest brunch café with French and Italian influences than a true French bistro. Would I return when visiting our daughter and her family? Not on my own accord. If the family chose it, I would definitely go, but I would adjust my expectations and not think of it as a French bistro, order an oat chai, request extra butternut squash, and save plenty of room for the Versailles.
