Amazing experience at Ralph & Kacoo's! They have a great happy hour and wonderful GM, Chris, who was beyond helpful. Everyone should come check it out!

To start off the ambiance was amazing, it was very calm and laid back. The manager played piano and was a pro at it, it was beautiful. The staff was extremely friendly and calm, and offered great suggestions of what to get. The fried shrimp was fresh and tasted amazing, the ruby was great, and the bourbon street was great! Overall an amazing experience! For those who can't go up stairs, they offered an elevator as well!

My husband and I frequented Ralph and Kacoo's in Jackson, MS in the 80's. So today, 4 children 13 grandchildren and a great grandchild on the way later, being married for 45 years in June we awoke some precious memories! The seafood was on point and hush puppies with that special sauce were delicious! Gumbo was very tasty. We got a bay view table on a sunny day, we couldn't have asked for a more perfect experience! The waitress and waiters were very nice to us. We will stop by there again if time permits!

The restaurant is nice and large. Our service from our server was excellent. The food was okay, from all of our meals the free hush puppies were the best.

(I recommend doing that, especially during lunch.) One of my good friends sent recommendations. My husband got the French dip. I hesitate calling it a poboy because I'm from NOLA, and outside south Louisiana, it's just a sandwich . I got the grilled shrimp lunch special with fries. Honestly, spend a little more and get the platter. I'd get them fried, but I can't have gluten. I risked cross contamination and got the fries. They were absolutely worth it. Fortunately, I didn't have a reaction. Trevor was our server, and he was excellent. You could tell he knew the regulars and locals based on how he'd approach new diners. He also gave really good recommendations. The vegetable of the day was a casserole, and Trevor told my husband that was better than the fries. My husband inhaled that casserole. If you're an Elvis fan, request to sit at the table. Overall, I'd definitely come back. For being on Open Table, just know this is a casual restaurant on the bay. Nothing frilly - just good, southern cooking. We will be back!

The chargrilled oysters unfortunately came with quite a bit of shell, which made them difficult to enjoy--though we did manage to find some actual pearl in there, so small win and fun! The grilled fish and shrimp were noticeably overcooked, and my husband's fried shrimp leaned the same way, lacking that fresh, tender bite you hope for. Sides were decent but didn't particularly stand out for my grilled dinner. Husband said slaw and hush puppies were good, my green beans were delicious. Overall, it's a lovely place with great service, but the kitchen execution didn't quite match the setting. With a few tweaks, this could easily be a standout spot.

One star for the hush puppies…read more One star for our friendly server. Sadly, I can only give two stars to Wintzell's House in Mobile, Alabama. I should've listened to all of the advice from the locals on Reddit, who warned me that this place has fallen on harder times. The char grilled oysters were funky. I ate them but worried as I ate them. The hush puppies earned a star. They were pretty tasty. The were my favorite thing on the table. However, we asked for butter, and our server gave us packets of butter substitute. Doesn't this restaurant have real butter? The gumbo was fairly tasteless and also, they had chopped up whatever seafood was in there so finely that it all just turned into mush. If there was any seafood in there, I sure didn't taste it. The West Indies crab salad was a shocking disappointment. It was a scoop of crab meat, which they ruined by mixing it up with mayo. That's it. An ice cream scoop of canned crab meat mixed with heavy mayo. It's like they didn't even try. The bread pudding left very little impression. It was a little rectangular square. Our server misunderstood us when we said we wanted it topped with ice cream, and served the bread pudding alongside a bowl of five scoops of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and whipped cream. It was a very odd dessert situation, but we worked our way through it. Our server was an amusing fella. He kinda/sorta made the evening. Overall, I'm glad I went so I could know for myself. However, I do wish that I had listened to the locals on Reddit.

The ambiance is nice and cozy. But we always sat in a booth. Sitting at a table indoors next to the back door, I looked around in confusion. At first it felt like someone kicking the back of the seat like on a flight. But then I was trying to move the table and check the chairs, maybe it was an earthquake from the New Madrid fault line. But like a typical NOLA raised home, it was just a hard floor and heavy footsteps. I'll know better next time. But Sundays from 12-3pm is the time to be there. Having to wait for parking was about the hardest part.

We started with Boudreaux's eggrolls appetizer, they were pretty good, and cooked very well, the dipping sauce made the egg rolls. Next she got the crab and spinach bisque, I had a side salad with blue cheese dressing. Both were very tasty. Next she had grilled salmon with veggies and mash potatos, I had the blackend redfish topped Crawfish Etouffee w/ Rice & sautéed Vegetables redfish. Both meals were tasty, full of flavor and cooked perfectly. When we arrived at 615 it was pretty empty and quiet but by the time we left most tables were full and a vibrant scene.
