I've visited Dumplin Restaurant for years whenever I'm in West Palm Beach, and it's always been a go-to spot--especially because their lunch specials are hard to beat. Be prepared to wait during lunchtime since it gets very crowded. Unfortunately, this recent visit in January may be my last. I ordered the stew peas and a half pound of jerk pork to go. The dining area is very open, and with the heavy lunch crowd, it felt uncomfortable having people standing so close while food was being served and packed. While the stew peas was okay, the jerk pork looked good but was dry and not tender at all. Even more concerning, by the second day the pork had developed a bad smell, which was very disappointing. I've always enjoyed coming here in the past, so this experience was upsetting. Listen I really don't want to knock them down to 2, but what I had today wasn't what I'm used to. Serving size wasn't there for large oxtail and even beyond that, the taste wasn't there. Tasted just like any ol crock pot meat. Now, I've primarily been in Texas the last four months and prior to that, hadn't eaten at G K Dumplin a month or so prior but it was good. New cook or something? They need new training or let go and I don't feel a way about saying that cause the oxtails tasted like they didn't have any seasoning! And the veggies were wayyy too crunchy. Like barely any softness; I'm not used to them ever being cooked to tender but today was just ridiculous. I just remembered they didn't even include my plantains in my oxtails. And the jerk chicken lunch was disappointing. Great price, two pieces of "jerk chicken" with the sides, and a can drink. However, I ordered the chicken with oxtail gravy and what I got tasted like bbq chicken. Meat was tender but if I want bbq chicken, I'd go to a bbq restaurant. Service was off today as well. I waited a minute for the lady to get off the phone. She apologized and for some reason, I wasn't irritated but it was a while so I was definitely heading towards it. Dumplin restaurant has authentic Jamaican food. I ordered the jerk chicken with rice and peas. The flavors are reminiscent of Jamaica food you would find in eateries back home. The rice and peas is often a disappointment at some Jamaican restaurants but not here. I can tell they have someone in the kitchen that has been cooking a long time. Stopped in on my way back up to Orlando and did not disappoint one bit. The lady that works the counter is very progressional, friendly and welcoming. Wrapping up some holiday shopping, I stumbled upon the Dumplin Restaurant leaving the Palm Beach Outlets. It's located in a small strip center - parking is tight. My desire was curried goat for lunch. I'm a fan of Caribbean food and the Dumplin Restaurant had some decent online reviews. And an extensive menu. Restaurant was busy - I decided on an order of curried goat with beans and rice, along with steamed cabbage. No goat I was told by the cashier/server. Bummer, I thought, as I really like curried goat. On the suggestion of a waiting customer, I tried the curried chicken. Taking it "to go" as I was driving back to the Treasure Coast, I decided on beans and rice, along with steamed cabbage as my side items. I really wanted the curried goat, but the curried chicken wasn't bad. Not only was the meal flavorful, I was served a container full of food. Cashier/server was friendly and polite - "take out" bag had napkins and flatware. Restaurant was clean and well attended. I would try the Dumplin Restaurant again. I've eaten here twice and the food is really good! Very well seasoned and flavorful. I have gotten the oxtail both times and it does not disappoint. My boyfriend got the curry goat and was very satisfied. This is now my go to place for Jamaican food. I hate giving bad reviews but hopefully the owner sees it and can make improvements no? The staff was super friendly! So that is why I am at least giving 2 stars! But the lunch brown stew chicken was HORRIBLE. So bland, rice and peas mushy and bland, and, cabbage was ok. Overall I don't know if people don't know good Jamaican food. Or if this is just an off day but the best thing about my meal was the plantain and my ginger ale lol. Please change your brown stew chicken recipe. Definitely needs help! read more

This is really good, Jamaican Take out. Meals are about $7 with meat rice and beans. They also make a bunch of different rum cakes. The lady who runs it is very nice, welcoming and accommodating. Both times I ate there was in the evening and they had already sold out of the beef patties :( But the good thing about that is that it means they make them fresh daily. The first time I went I had a jerk pork and jerk chicken combo with rice and vegetables. The star of this meal was the jerk pork, it was cut into large cubes and had an incredible tasting rub on it and it sat in a nice gravy. The chicken wasn't as much to my liking because of the bones but otherwise it tasted fine. Rice and vegetables were nothing memorable but they kind of complete the meal. Second visit I had Roti with jerk pork. This time she gave me even more meat and gravy and I quite enjoyed it. I'd go again any time I'm in the area. Very good. You can also sit inside there about 8 tables or so. They have bottled sodas and fruit juices. read more

I was here earlier as a recommendation by my cousin. He raves about the food but I thought, that he was exaggerating at first until I gave it a try. First, let me say that the customer service was fantastic and greatly appreciated. This restaurant reminded me of my last visit to Jamaica - by how welcoming the staff was. Please do not compare this establishment to other mom and pop Jamaican restaurants. They need to take lessons from this restaurant. I stopped by with my cousin today and the staff was very welcoming and patient. I ordered a small dish of salt fish, cabbage and callaloo and it was absolutely delicious! My eyes almost watered when I saw just how delicious the food looked...... let's not forget the portion was large. The price is very fare. I have to say I was impressed. The service, patience, welcoming atmosphere and quality of food! Although I'm not a fan of meat, I was tempted by the curry chicken dish my cousin ordered. Let me tell you the food is excellent!! But the customer service is horrible. I mean damn I really try to support my community. My wife and I walked in tonight and stood at the counter waiting for service. The young lady Jada walked over to the other registered never said hello or how can I help you ? Didn't say please come over here. I'm standing on one side she's on the other im looking at the cakes inside the display case. I hear her say in a low attitude voice go head with your order! I thought she was talking to someone else but I looked up and she's talking to me. No smile no welcoming atmosphere. I live 7 miles away there and back home totalling 14 miles 26 minutes give or take. I must havec at least 4 or 5 Caribbean restaurants not that far from my house. But we chose to go to that one. So being the up beat person I am I said hello!! Are you ok ? Seems like you're having a bad day? With not much response I just ordered my food and we left. This is a neighborhood gem for those in the know. It's mainly takeout and a line is always waiting which attests to how good their homemade curries are. The "dish" to order is the chicken curry (on the bone) with extra gravy. Ask for it with brown rice and peas and a side of yams. Their brown chicken curry is a second runner up. They offer it in a medium or large size and it's unbelievably delicious and a must try for those who enjoy a good inexpensive curry under $10. They also offer incredible homemade deserts. Their cheesecake is fantastic. Fyi, the restaurant is actually Jamaican not Creole, but I would not recommend their jerk chicken. read more

I finally found a Jamaican restaurant in the area. I've tried a handful of restaurants in the area but always been less than happy. I get much better Jamaican food in L.A. However, this place had really good food and the meat was extremely tender and there were no bones or HUGE pieces of fat included. Only issue was that I got white rice instead of rice and peas. Maybe I needed to ask for it. They asked me if I wanted plantains so maybe it's something that needs to be requested. Hope I can get back before I leave! read more

Attempt 2, I ordered a pound of jerk chicken- and felt extremely robbed at how small the quantity was. Attempt 3, called to order lunch and discovered that plantains are not included in their lunch special.
