Best XLB place in the Bay Area so far for me; skin is thin yet doesn't break easily and the soup is both plentiful and tasty. The pan fried version is good, but a bit small compared to other places; and you need to eat it while it's fresh or the bottom will become a bit soggy. Note: I'm not positive, but I think public parking is free for the first teo hours and there's a big public parking garage about half a block away. Also, don't expect a waiter to take your order by default. There's an expectation to scan the QR code on the table to order. But if you don't order for a why, someone will stop by; at least they did for a table next to me. read more

An easy find with indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly staff that checks in on you a decent amount of times which is appreciative as their order system is contactless. With my experience with contactless ordering, servers don't really walk around to check up on tables, but this one isn't like that at all! A very cute but simple interior. We ordered the Pork Xiao Long Bao and Pork Wonton w Sesame Sauce + Chili Oil. Oh boy, just thinking about them makes my mouth water. The sesame sauce for the pork wonton wasn't overbearing (i usually stray away from sesame sauces as the peanut taste can be overpowering). It was subtle mixed with the chili sauce, I can probably eat 2 orders of those by myself. The XLB's were hefty! They did not shy away from the filling, definitely thicker than your average. I did wish they had an order of those w chives. Only reason I knocked down a star was because it is pretty pricey and I did wish they had more choices on their menu. Found Food to be bitter but that could just be me and others could like it. Bad service, noticed that Asian customers were getting more attention. We got water when we arrived and after that we had to order our own food through a QR code which is fine but the whole time my family and I were there not a single server came to ask how we were doing or if we wanted a refill on our water, just to bring us our food and tell us what it is and then walk away. After we were done I wanted to give a $5 tip for at least bringing us our food but I noticed that it wouldn't let me select complete so I told the guy (didnt get his name) that It wasn't allowing me to select complete so he said "its okay, I got it" then walked away without bringing me a receipt so as I was walking out i asked for the receipt and once he gave it to me I just put it in my pocket and left just to later look at it and see that he gave him self a $15 tip. Ive been to a few bad restaurants but I've never had someone select their own tip for only bringing us our food which is what every fast food worker does without having an option for a tip. read more

I was so so excited to try this place once I saw they opened! I'm a huge fan of Din Tai Fung and all things Dim Sum so i wanted to see if i could find a good spot nearby. Dumplings Hours is a very cute restaurant situated off of University Ave. The service is quick and efficient, you can choose to order via QR code or with a staff member. I could see the people in the back hand making my dumplings which reminded me of Din Tai Fung. The flavor and texture of all of these items was amazing, and dare I say better than Din Tai Fung. Bigger portions and even more crab than I expected in the XLB. My favorite dish by far were the Dan Dan Noodles, these were chewy, flavorful and made me want to order another round. Love at first bite for the big and juicy spicy pork XLB (much bigger than DTF dumplings)! You can see the chili oil inside because the dumpling skin is nice and thin. I tried the chicken dumplings, beef noodle soup, pan-fried pork buns, and pork wontons with sesame sauce chili oil. Out of those, the pan-fried pork buns were definitely my favorite since they were super flavorful. The pork wontons were also pretty tasty, but I thought the sesame sauce overpowered the meat. The beef noodle soup had a very light flavor which I didn't prefer. To me, it tasted like some beef broth that had been diluted with water. The noodles and beef were good though. Unfortunately, I found a piece of plastic in the soup. The server offered to give us a new order and removed that dish from our bill. While it's obviously not ideal for such a thing to happen, I think the server handled it as best they could so I wouldn't hold this incident against the restaurant assuming it doesn't happen again. The Dan Dan noodles were one of the more unique ones in the Bay Area. I was able to enjoy the sesame paste flavor compared to other places that just toss in a bunch of salt and seasoning. The Xiao Long Baos were filled with amazing soup and the dumpling skin/wrappers were just the right thickness. Not too thick that impacts the ratio and not too thin that tears easily leaving the soup on your spoon. I also love the red spoon you can use for the Xiao Long Baos. Just the right size! The boiled dumplings with shrimp, pork and chives were also amazing. You can really tell these were handmade! I would definitely visit again! read more

Just tried this new spot and wow. The food was AMAZING. We sat outside and the patio was slightly shaded and in a perfect spot. And the staff was beyond nice. Our waiter was incredibly nice and made our lunch a delight. I can not wait to come back and order the gyoza and soup dumplings again. They all came very quickly and were all hot and fresh. You must try the juicy pan fried pork buns and Xiao long baos! Delicious! The server was very attentive and that our special needs without a fuss. When we realized we were short on time, he got all the containers to box it all up, utensils, and bagged them. I developed allergy to a few things like chicken, pork etc. I asked the staff to check if there is any chicken broth / extract in the "beef noodles soup" as it is very common. I also trusted them that the beef dumpling was only beef, no chicken broth or lard. Again, I checked repeatedly and I saw the staff asking another person that looked like the owner or kitchen staff. But sadly they lied! I've had hives and diarrhea for the entire day the next day making me itch and weak. Please be more responsible! read more
