I stumbled across this place through Yelp and the reviews were too good to ignore especially as someone who loves Taiwanese food. Safe to say, the hype is well deserved. I ordered the Stir Fry Basil Chicken Bento and was immediately impressed by how much you get. The portion is generous, especially for the price! It was loaded with protein and served with two different vegetable sides and a hard boiled egg. It feels like a complete, well-rounded meal rather than the sad, sparse bentos you sometimes end up with. The basil chicken itself was the star cause it was juicy, aromatic, and had just the right kick on mild. If you have any heat tolerance at all, I'd say go mild without hesitation. It's flavorful without being overwhelming. Ordering is super easy through a kiosk, my food was ready in about 8 minutes, and the staff were genuinely friendly. The whole experience was smooth from start to finish. I'll definitely be back to work through more of the menu. I'm a fan of O2 Valley, and I've been craving the Popcorn Chicken bento. Today I got that for my lunch plus a Lemon Black Tea. I ordered on their website, and within 5 minutes I got a text that my order was ready. Everything looked good, and it was tasty. However, I was bit bummed out to find a staple under the popcorn chicken. I get accidents can happen, but just please be more careful. When I got to the place, I think they had two tables. This is like Taiwanese comfort food for me. They have spaces to eat. It's very casual. Staff is mainly at the counter. You go to the counter to order and you can sit anywhere. We have mostly ordered to go. But I can see the restaurant part have very basic service. The staff is very straight forward. Not a lot of fluff but not bad. Their food comes out piping hot! Came by the other day to grab a quick bit and it was a surprisingly decent experience. Ordered ahead via their website and my order was ready upon arrival. As O2 Valley is towards the beginning of the University Ave business district, parking was pretty easy a couple blocks away. To my surprise, the venue was empty upon arrival and I was greeted upon arrival and was back outside within 30 seconds. Garlic popcorn chicken, a garlic lovers dream!! Dropped in ~4:30pm on a Saturday for some popcorn chicken. Aside from the three tables already eating, the place was fairly empty. Service was pretty quick. Once ordered and a trip to the restroom was made, my order was ready. Sauce bar was stocked with sriracha, sweet and spicy chili sauce, and their in house spicy mushroom sauce. Pepper and chili pepper powder are on the tables. Aside from order to go at the register, a lot of things seem self served. Utensils and napkins provided on the tables for dine in. One of my favorite Taiwanese restaurants! Really nice location with plenty of free parking around and some of the most authentic Taiwanese food I've found outside of Taiwan. I love the fried chicken and popcorn chicken. They are seasoned very similarly and the batter on the chicken is super tasty and crispy! I also really love the braised pork on rice and tea egg provided in almost every meal option. It's not very explicitly stated but the vegetable side dishes aren't always what you see on the menu. They cook different sides on different days or even times of day so it's always a surprise what you'll get. For sides, I do think some are much better than others. read more

O2 Valley is one of our go to for meals. The portions are large for the pricepoint. We usually order the popcorn chicken bento and the fried pork chop bento. My favorite is the fried pork chop, especially with the vinegar. Only gripe is.. wish I had more vinegar! The pork is cut very thin, and no gamey or chewy tendons. Chicken pieces are small and juicy, well flavored. The side dishes that come with the bentos are also well received, especially the tea egg. They have a point system when you sign up for membership. Great location, so if you do dine in, there's dessert in the area to try. Dine in is good too, self service with ample seating areas. Open space with an open door, so you can still enjoy the outdoors while being under a roof. Love this place! read more

I really loved the Fried Chicken Cutlet Bento that came with Minced Pork Rice, a Marinated Egg, and the two sides of the day: Tomato Egg Stir-Fry and Sauteed Cabbage with Shredded Carrots. We were in Palo Alto visiting our daughter at work. During her 3pm lunch break, we happened to pass by this Taiwanese restaurant as we were strolling along University Avenue. This was the ideal spot for us as we were planning for a quick bite at a counter service place with snackable items. Simply furnished, this eatery has posters of their featured menu items and a curios or "timely" ChatGPT generated art that AI might perceive of O2 Valley. I failed to take a photo of said framed image. For drinks, we got the Taro Milk Tea, Oolong and my Lemon Green Tea. I chose 25% sweetness, no ice with aloe mixed in. It was a weird & bitter tasting refreshment as I thought the tea to lemon ratio was out of whack. I finished it anyway. It was an acquired taste kind of drink, I guess. For eats, we shared the Garlic Popcorn Chicken, Hundred Layer Tofu and Crispy Tofu. The latter being unseasoned definitely needed the sauce that came with it. I spiced up this same sauce with the excess garlic bits that came with the chicken. We also happened to see our fellow Yelp Elite from Sacramento, Belinda. She was in town also to visit family. Came here for my annual helping of popcorn chicken! The portion was really large, but I must say it lacked flavoring. Hard to find good, cheap popcorn chicken nowadays. A lot of boba places don't serve it anymore, so came here for my fix. The shop isn't too big, and there was only one empty table left luckily. The chicken pieces were mostly nice and plump, and wasn't just covered in flour. I think there was only a couple pieces of basil included, which might have attributed to the lack of flavor. I've been here a couple times now and they're almost surgical in how consistent the food is - hot, tasty, great portion sizes - O2 valley is a top tier lunch spot in downtown Palo Alto that won't break the bank. The basics: they specialize in Taiwanese bentos, so think fried chicken and pork cutlets, as well as some home style dishes like braised pork belly. It's hearty food in hearty portions that can easily be stretched to two meals. They're also typically balanced with two veggie sides, and an egg, though the side dishes do change regularly so you don't really have a say if you're gonna get broccoli or cucumbers. I've had their popcorn chicken, braised pork belly, and five spice pork cutlet bentos and they're all really tasty - excellently fried, with the five spice pork cutlet being my favorite because of the excellent sauce that comes with it, but really, you can't go wrong with anything. One standout menu item is their spicy mushroom sauce, which is in their sauce section, but is an absolute add to any part of any bento, protein or vegetable. It's salty, spicy, and jam packed with umami and pairs well with everything. Be sure to steal a (small) container of it if you're getting a bento to go - you won't regret it! Overall this is one of my favorite lunch spots in DTPA for its value and taste. At O2, I've dined in and ordered takeout before, all times I enjoyed the meal. The portions sizes are really good, I eat a lot and whenever I finish I am fully satisfied. Most places have dry, stringy chicken with really hard breading outside and NO basil. However, O2 Valley doesn't disappoint.
