I was recently in the area for a golf tournament and this place was in the area. I like the variety of rolls that Araki offered compared to other Japanese restaurants in the area. I wouldn't say this food was the best, but menu was definitely affordable and the portion size were generous. That is a major plus. Also the food came out fairly quick and the service was good. They were on top of me needing refills If you're hungry and you prioritize value, Araki Sushi is the place to go!

Absolutely phenomenal! Came in at the perfect time with no wait. The sushi was great, we also ordered mussels and the jalapeños bomb. Rolls were pretty big size. Cute little restaurant on the inside.

lunch bento with tempura, salmon shioyaki, and salmon teriyaki

Good sushi and Japanese food for a good price on University Ave. This place is an affordable spot with good portion sizes. Pleasant service, we came for lunch on a weekend and it wasn't crowded at all, nice and quiet and good for having a conversation. The lunch roll combo and bento box at lunch prices are both a pretty good deal. Not the most amazing sushi but it does taste good, and a good price and nice spot for lunch in downtown Palo Alto, I would definitely come here again.

Araki Sushi is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants. Always amazing food and great service. I love their Seafood Udon, Hamachi Kama, Agedashi Tofu, seaweed salad, cucumber salad, and California Roll with Tobiko, My wife and I always love to come here.

Busy area. Came for lunch stopping by while on a road trip so tried to find a spot with less of a line. Found street parking. Tried their lunch special. The sushi combo and the bento box. For the sushi tried the spicy tuna and rainbow roll. For the bento got the teriyaki chicken, beef and salmon. Very pleasantly surprised by this spot. Fish for the sushi so fresh and the bento box meats were tender. I especially liked the way their cooked their salmon...flakes right off. Staff was nice.

All this for $177 with tip ?? yes PLEASE! Delicious and quick service and great vibes. That fried CA roll was to die for. Will come again :)

very good bang for your buck if you're looking for sushi in palo alto. decent fish quality in their rolls, but their meal set might be more worth if you want more food. ambiance is more like a causal quick meal, not too many interactions with the staff which i didn't mind at all.

My friend and I came here as it opens until 10 which is good for late dinners. Parking was easy to find, service was fast. We got a few beers and rolls to share. My favorite roll is the mango crunch roll! All rolls we had were yummy. Would be back again to try more menu items

Dragon roll, yammy yammy and bamboo roll

Good food! The yammy yammy and bamboo were both quite special and nice. Never had mango in sushi before and really liked the tanginess. Food came quickly and service was nice. Would return.

They have a nice wall painting giving a fun but relaxing vibe. Sashimi were fresh and slices were thick. Octopus was nicely done and lamb was good.

Kara-age and sashimi bento
Cecilia S.

Relaxing and quiet atmosphere with attentive service. The bento was filling, affordable, and fresh. However, the chicken kara-age was lacking as it was not really crispy and very dry. I think thighs could have been used instead of breast. The sushi was pretty fresh and the cuts are nice and thick. The signature araki roll was 5/5!! Would visit here again for affordable and delicious sushi.

Good value for lunch combo. Fresh sashimi and rolls. I came here regularly. Service is ok, sometimes crowded.

I'm surprised this is 4.0 on yelp. Even though the price is cheap for lunch I wouldn't go back.

What I ordered: Stanford roll: it had a nice mix of spicy tuna, crab, avocado, hamachi, with the sauces tying everything together really well Nigiri combo: 9 pieces of chef's choice fish and a lot of them were fish belly cuts which are fattyyyyy and melt in your mouth Hamachi lover: surprisingly my 2nd favorite (I normally don't like hamachi that much). It has hamachi, avocado and then hamachi on top, each bite was a big mouthful piece, so yummy Super salmon roll: this was probably my most favorite, especially the torched salmon and tobiko on top. Salmon wrapped around spicy salmon and cucumber. Overall, everything tasted clean and well balanced, nice rice ratio. Nothing felt off, I had no complaints at all. I kinda regret not going in person, def wanna dine in next time.

Recommend the lunch bentos: great value, great portion. The chef special honeymoon is also worth a try. The prawn tempura seemed great value (5 for less than $10), but turned out the batter was quite thick :) but still not a bad grab. Service was fantastic. Private parking lot available (huge plus).

Highly recommend booking counter seating because you get to watch the chefs up close. One thing that sets Robin apart that I love is that you get to choose how much you want to spend. The lowest was $119 and I think they went up to $219(?) So if you aren't that hungry, you can stay in the $119 low end range. You will get a few less courses or you might miss a few things like a scallop dish. My friend and I asked for $150 which I think was about 15-16 courses. I was stuffed after so I'm glad I didn't go higher. They had some new combinations for the nigiri and some that I've tried before at the SF location. Everything is delicious and tastes fresh, but my faves are anything with uni, the lean tuna with Wagyu butter/sauce on top, salmon with truffle, and of course the famous Wagyu with foie gras snow! The foie gras makes you want to lick your plate. So rich and tasty. Food is 5/5, but service here is also a big 5/5. Everyone is so friendly. They offered to hang up our backpacks in their closet since we came from the office. Your water glass will never reach empty. My hot tea was complimentary which was a pleasant surprise when I got my check! The vibe is similar to SF, but I think their music is played at a lower volume. They usually play some good throwback 90's hip hop if I remember correctly. The bathroom is a vibe, plus they have a bidet. My friend and I celebrated late bdays, so they gave us a candle with our desserts and a complimentary drink. A sweet wine for my friend who had a glass of wine with her dinner and a NA shiso sparkling drink for me since they noticed I wasn't drinking. It's the small details that show how much thought is put into the great service here. Thank you for a great meal! Can't wait to come back!

The space is intimate, with only 8 counter seats, so you're served directly by chef Li. To my surprise, all of the seats were full on a Friday at lunch. I didn't want to drink too much at lunch, but they had a $29 sake flight of three 1.5 oz pours, which was just the right amount to pair with the sushi but still be able to go back to work after lunch! Pre sushi: 1. Pickled baby ginger: I love this stuff, and he was good about refilling it 2. Crab with Japanese citrus jelly and shiso: a generous amount of sweet, fresh crab 3. Ankimo: two pieces, served with wasabi 4. Signature octopus: massaged 1 hour and stewed 1 hour - very flavorful and tender 5. Steamed abalone: served over soba with abalone liver sauce 6. Seaweed shot 7. Chawanmushi with scallops and caviar Sushi: 1. Hokkaido scallop with yuzu and sea salt 2. Spanish mackerel 3. Akami: lean bluefin tuna 4. Kinmedai: golden eye snapper, torched 5. Isaki: 3 line grunt fish 6. Kelp cured black snapper, shiso leaf, yuzu 7. Chutoro 8. Saba: mackerel with kelp 9. Otoro: torched, topped with uni The scallop and kinmedai were the highlights for me. We also got one of the à la carte add ons: the hand chopped fatty tuna and uni hand roll. To finish: red miso soup At the end, you can watch the chef preparing the bento boxes, which was a good reminder for me to keep my eye out for the next available pickup. The fish was high quality, and the pieces were cut to the right size (I've been to way too many places with unappealingly large cuts). Each course was thoughtfully prepared, and pacing was consistent. For the quality and quantity of food, as well as the service and dining experience, this was a hot deal for $125 a person. We will definitely be coming back!
