Came here on a rainy day today to pick up some dumplings. This was my first time coming here. Food was not bad but it was annoying to be charged a "take out" fee that was automatically added to my bill. Ordering food that is over $75 for lunch and then having annoying extra fees added leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But the worst part was coming to the car and seeing they hadn't closed the lids properly and all the hot and sour soup had leaked into the plastic bag. Even the vinegar wasn't closed so it leaked into the soup dumplings. Completely disgusted with the service and added garbage fees. I won't be coming back for sure!

Although we drive by here often, this was the first time we've tried this restaurant. We were craving soup dumplings and this one was new to us. Service was excellent! We noted how warmly our server greeted his regular diners. We were seated quickly by a cozy window with a street view and our dumplings came out quickly. They were delicious and hit the spot for us. We ordered both the chicken and pork soup dumplings and really enjoyed the pork ones more. But a favorite for us we're the handmade pan fried pork, shrimp and chive dumplings. We will definitely be back.

BEST SPOT FOR CHINESE COMFORT FOOD. I've gone to all of the similar type of restaurants in the 626 -- Prince Dumpling, Mr. Dragon Noodle House, P P Pop, but Dumpling Tops is my favorite! The owner (I think) who is the asian man is SO sweet and checks in with every table and seems like the kindest soul. Customer service is 10/10. My go to orders are the pork potstickers, green beans, and the spicy beef noodle soup. The beef noodle soup is SO good and honestly compares to Din Tai Fung's. Noodles are thin and chewy and beef is so tender. The pork potstickers have the crispiest top and juiciest soup and pork inside. The green beans are also cooked to perfection, seasoned with lots of garlic. Please show this restaurant more love if you're ever in South Pas or the SGV! I love hole in the wall spots like these that are not overhyped. Has such a homey vibe too it inside too and is super super clean. 10/10 spot if you want authentic Chinese comfort food!

I thought it was nice to have a highly rated Chinese restaurant outside of the typical 626 areas and wanted to check them out. Ordered some takeout for lunch on a Saturday. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The beef noodle soup was super salty. It was so salty that I had to dilute it with hot water; it was otherwise inedible. The spicy pork wontons were wrapped in thick dumpling wrappers instead of the typical thin wonton skins. Very strange and way too thick. I ended up tossing most of it. The scallion pancakes were thin but flavorless. Perhaps they could've used some of that salt in the beef noodle soup. It also lacked a bit of the airiness in a properly fried pancake. The hargow and shumai were decent tho. I would perhaps be happy to see a place like this somewhere like Pittsburgh where legitimate Chinese food is scarce; but, not in the 626 areas

Was on the 210 freeway and looked up dumplings, this place was recommended and had tons of great reviews so we gave it a try last night! Service was amazing, our servers were kind and continuously checking to see if there was anything we needed. We went closer to their closing time so the restaurant was empty, which at first made me think it wasn't a good sign but luckily the reviews were right and our experience was great as well as the food. Restaurant was clean, restrooms were also very clean. Pork Soup Dumplings 10/10 Spicy Wontons 10/10 Orange Chicken with side of rice 10/10 Cucumber Salad 10/10 Pork shrimp with chive dumplings 10/10 I liked how the soup dumplings were a little smaller than usual which made it a little easier to eat :) Overall very delicious and we will be back

This dumpling spot is a gem in South Pasadena. Every time I'm in the area, it's a must-stop for me. The dumplings are consistently flavorful, fresh, and perfectly prepared -- you can truly taste the quality in every bite. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between modern and cozy, with a clean, relaxing atmosphere that makes you want to linger a little longer. Service is equally impressive -- the staff is attentive, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable without being overbearing. Overall, a standout experience from start to finish. Highly recommend if you're craving top-tier dumplings in a comfortable, well-run setting. They are great for takeout as I did for this nice rainy evening.

The spicy beef noodle soup is bomb ! The meat is always tender and flavorful and the noodles were cooked perfectly. I ordered fried tofu and it came with some chopped chilies to spice it up, perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The waiter was very attentive and would check on the customers /and make conversations. The restaurant looks clean and has plenty of light coming through the windows.

This restaurant is called dumpling tops but I think their noodles are the best dishes to order. I had the lobster tail noodles, which was only $20 a bowl but it has a lobster tail, well-cooked vegetables and a real lot of noodles. The broth was very thick, it's the tonkutsu-style thickness. Noodles are very chewy and yummy. It's better than most noodle places. I had XLB and buns too, but I think they're average. Half of the 8 XLBs I had had their soup leaked onto the steaming plate. The bun's filling was a small portion. The veggie dumplings were quite good, though. It's fresh and delicious. Friendly and very quick service! Good vibes in the afternoon. They have parking at the back on Hope St passing a small alley (not the parking lot on Fair Oaks Ave).

Small Dog Friendly! The main reason we paid a visit to Dumpling Tops was because one of our friends had a dog (who is really well behaved). We had came from a 6 mile run and were starved! Dumpling Tops had a wide variety of Chinese/Taiwanese dishes. The staff were friendly and very accomodating. The noodle dishes were okay. I thought the noodles were a little too soft but the flavor was good. It's more mild and tamed than other places I've tried - but it gives a home cook feel. I think the winning dishes for me were the pan fried pork dumplings and beef roll. They had such a hearty mouth feel and gave a satisfying bite - a mix of crispy, crunchy and chewy texture between the pan fried dough and meaty filling. Definitely a place you should check out if you're in the South Pasadena area.

First time here for me, the cucumber salad was sweet but addicting, different than what I'm used to. The spicy beef noodle soup was very good, love the broth. The pork dumplings were good just needed a dipping sauce. Service was good. Love that it's close to home.

The decor is very classy and elegant, soft lighting with background piano music but you can still have conversations. They have daily fixe menu specials for Thursdays as well as their regular menu. First timer so we had to try a variety of dishes to get a good feel of their cuisine. Wine and cocktail options: had the Shirotini which is a twist similar to a lemon drop. My friend had the pink crane which is bourbon based. Both cocktails were well balanced and tasty. Appetizers: Their famous ravioli: had very creamy sauce over 4 wobton skin ravioli with plump shrimp inside topped with shiitake mushrooms on top. It's a mini meal in itself! Also tried their grilled octopus, cooked perfectly with a nice crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. The main star was the fried catfish sitting in what tasted like a ponzu sauce and please is big enough to feed 4 people! Also had the scallops which were delicious but truly the catfish stole the show. *The main dishes come with a medley side dish of broccoli, carrots and scalloped potatoes. Dessert was the crepes with strawberries and glazed pecans for the filling. The wait staff was attentive but also the owners were there to check in with all the guests to ensure everything was top notch. Learned that the co-owners are best friends. The original owner/chef was Shiro and his niece is one of the co-owners while one of is staff became the other co-owner. What a unique story. I had to make a reso before we left So Cal and it was available for the next night. So happy we came bc WOW. I remember why I loved this quaint restaurant over 2 decades ago when we used to come for every special occasion. If memory serves me correctly, it's the same host. She was so hospitable and made us feel right at home. Our server was amazing. Gosh, I forgot his name. Tall skinny guy. Nightly specials. Truffle ravioli with spinach ricotta. Delicious. Had to share as it was a bit rich for a starter. Shaved truffles and blanched spinach. 5/5 Chilean Sea Bass 5/5 light and flaky Crème Brûlée with berries and bananas I didn't know I needed until I had the very first bite. Wow. So good and full of vanilla bean specs. Chocolate soufflé was more of flourless chocolate chocolate. Not too rich. Scoop of bold coffee ice cream. I just needed a tad more ice cream to finish the cake with. I didn't get it to try the crepe special since nephew ate most of it. Crispy wonton with poached pear. Raspberry sauce and orange custard was so unique and tasty 5/5 Both Hubs and Bro ordered the Mary's chicken and absolutely loved it. Well seasoned and garnished well. Filet was perfect cooked and seasoned even for an 8 yr old to finish on his own. DD ordered the salmon. It was so tender and fork soft. Her broccoli was so full of flavor and not overly creamy. I remember even saying out loud that this was a more decadent experience than TFL and Per Se without feeling so overstuffed and heavy feeling upon leaving. So glad I found Shiro again. Will definitely return again.

Delightfully understated atmosphere with unique tiles throughout the decor, and we loved that we could hear each other talk and enjoy each other's company. Our server was amazing, she was so knowledgeable while being personable and extremely funny. I assume she's the cook's wife based on the other reviews - I arrived a little after my aunts, so I didn't get a full introduction since they had already secured a table and had ordered some drinks while looking over the menu. I had my eye on 3 different meat dishes - the Roasted Duck Breast, the New Zealand Lamb, and the Angus Beef Ribeye Steak - and my aunts also had each picked 1 of those, so we went family style, and it did not disappoint!! The chef knows how to cook each type of meat to perfection, and the searing pans are doing exactly what they need to be doing! The Roast Duck Breast was AMAZING as cooked to the recommended medium, with delicious crispy skin. The Angus Beef Ribeye Steak at medium rare was as tasty as it was gorgeous! And the New Zealand Lamb was PERFECTION, down to the bone. We also got the gourmet macaroni and cheese as an add-on side, since all the meals come with mashed potatoes and various veggies, and I was in heaven! As someone who used to work at the Disney Parks and frequented the steakhouses and other fine dining both here and in Orlando, Sage Bistro is giving Disney a run for its money when it comes to high-quality meat dishes! The prices reflect both the cut of the meats and the skill of preparation, with it averaging to about $50 each across the 3 of us, which is pretty reasonable for top-tier quality! The only thing I had to be careful about was that many of the dishes have mushrooms, and my throat gets itchy if I eat most mushrooms, so I had to avoid those dishes. During our meal, when I mentioned it to our server for future visits, she was great at noting which dishes could completely be modified to have no mushrooms while also being realistic about acknowledging the dishes that cannot be, which sadly includes the Braised Short Rib that sounds out of this world. But I can have the Beef Rib Soup, so I definitely want to try that next because I WILL BE BACK!!! They also offer takeaway, and were very generous in giving us each a coupon card to use for ordering through their website.

Service is fairly quick (have to be to keep up with the amount of people coming in and out) and friendly enough. The food (outside of mine) was very tasty and had a decent selection size. Great flavor and very fresh. Mine (seasonal veggie) was very underwhelming. The taste, compared to everything else, was mid. It needed salt or some other seasonings. I ended up adding chili to it, which helped, but not much, which made me think salt was the missing factor. Not sure how that happened because the other soup, and my friends braised chicken noodles, tasted absolutely perfect. If anything, the other dishes were super bold with their flavors.
