Not much in terms of decoration, but it is spacious and comfortable. The Fish Cakes were not loaded with fillers and were quite flavorful. Yum Woon Sen is a winner, especially if you like glass noodles, but you need to have high tolerance. I bit into some chili, and it took a while for me to recover, but great flavor. The Khao Soi with vegetables was generously portioned. You get a lot of different veggies including cabbage, bok choy & broccoli. Mom had Khao Soi with tofu. They offered fried tofu (not the soft kind) which was a bit tough according to her, a wonderful dish nevertheless. Service was attentive and friendly. We were offered complimentary pudding in 3 different flavors, coconut, mango and chocolate. They were all good, but my favorite was mango. I'm glad the owner opened up a second location, and it's in Pasadena. I love that many of the entrees can be customized to be vegan-friendly for my husband, and how tasty the food is, just like their Monrovia location. The space they took over from another Thai restaurant feels really dated, and it appeared that there was only one server assisting all customers on a Saturday afternoon during our visit. Also, they are not carrying the same menu items that are offered at the Monrovia location, such as the Thai Boat Noodles. Lunch for 2 on a weekend cost $70 including tip. The food is great most of the time. I've had a couple times that I dined there when I knew there was a different chef. They need to work on consistency. We ordered 2 iced teas, a spicy beef salad, 1 small vegetable soup, and 1appetizer fried herb chicken bites with 1 small side rice for $70. As much as I enjoyed it I wouldn't come back often just because I feel it is overpriced. The service is always friendly and attentive. Food tasted old and warmed over !! Ordered wontons with cream cheese, and they're supposed to have crab in. It never saw any of the crap or tasted it. First time coming to Thai Thyme. Heard good things online and wanted to check it out in person. They have a Monrovia location but just opened this location in Pasadena. Got their papaya salad with shrimp medium spicy. Just the perfect amount of spice and refreshing. Shrimp was cooked perfectly. Their grilled shrimp with garlic pepper sauce is a must get. Cooked perfectly and sauce is great! BBQ chicken had a lot of flavor and had a nice char flavor. Not dry at all. Would get it again. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

Very delicious food; Tried the Noodle Soup with Coconut Curry, it's amazing, has strong coconut flavor and sweet to the right extent, asked mild spicy and it's indeed mild, unlike the usual case where it's not spicy or too spicy. Such a solid thai food place in Pasadena! I stumbled upon this place for a quick lunch on Tuesday lunch (12:30 PM). Even though it was a lunch prime time, food came out so quickly and server lady was so nice. We got chicken Khao Soi, Pad See Ew, and Chicken Satay. Khao Soi was creamy and delicious - very solid Khao Soi I tried in the states. Pad see ew was good also and chicken satay was bomb! So tender and warm. Stopped by for lunch. Had the papaya salad, pork hock, and vegetable with basil lunch special. I had seen the pork hock on TikTok and had high expectations. Although the taste was good, it was not as visually appealing as what I saw. The papaya salad could have probably used a little more dried shrimp and lime. The vegetable dish was somewhat average. My boyfriend and I were really looking forward to our takeout tonight, but unfortunately, the meal didn't live up to expectations. We ordered the Tom Yum Soup with Shrimp and the Basil Eggplant with Beef, but both dishes had significant execution issues. First, the Tom Yum soup was incredibly salty--to the point where it was actually inedible. We love the bright, sour, and spicy notes this soup usually offers, but the salt completely overwhelmed everything else. Secondly, the Basil Eggplant with Beef was very disappointing. The dish was swimming in oil and lacked any real flavor or seasoning. It felt like it needed a fresh approach or a different technique to bring out the aromatics of the basil and the richness of the beef without it being so greasy. We really wanted to love this meal, but it feels like the kitchen might need to revisit their recipes or focus more on flavor balance. We hope the management takes this as constructive feedback to retrain the staff on these specific dishes, as we'd love to see the quality improve. read more

Found this place by sheer luck after a long day of running errands, and it felt like we had found an oasis. We had our husky with us, which limited where we could all be together from the get go and enjoy down time. We were immediately greeted by the owner in their beautiful back patio, where his staff was speedy and super accommodating. They turned on the heaters for us, brought water for our dog, and were very helpful about the menu. The food was absolutely delicious; trust their level of spices, they did not disappoint. Our family has dined at Suriya Thai for more than 25 years before it was taken over by the current owners of the restaurant and renamed / reimagined as Thai Thyme. Since the changeover every meal we've ordered here has been well below average - force of habit and hope for familiar food that kept us coming back but after tonight's experience...never again. The fried wontons were stale and tasted of undercooked rice flour (and flat rather than flower shaped), fried rice tasted old and of having sat too long in a warming dish, chicken satay was overcooked, chewy, and poorly seasoned, peanut sauce was sludge-like having coagulated with a film of oil on top, and the cucumber salad lacked flavor and freshness. I'm not sure how this place continues to stay open because even the ambience lacks the authenticity and home feel of Suriya Thai - zero personality. Overall it's a very pale shadow of its predecessor - highly do not recommend. read more
