Found this place close to where we're staying. Never knew South Pas had dumplings. We were glad to arrive and have a table for our larger party. Ordered our staple items. Beef noodle soup (non spicy) 3.5/5 thin noods clean broth, tender beef slices, fresh bok choy Potstickers 4/5 Juicy inside. Great flava Chive & shrimp dumplings steamed 3.5/5 Garlic Green beans 4/5 Addicted to these XLB 3.5/5 Siu Mai 3/5 Rice cake stir fried 4/5 Great wok flava Beer 4/5 Tea drinks 3.5/5 Service 5/5 Sweet things 4/5 Frozen fish green tea ice cream sandwich and comp mini eclairs and cream puffs The food came out fairly consistently to our eating pace. Staff made sure we had everything we needed. This reminded me of homestyle cooking so not a lot of salt or msg, if any, so I appreciated that. Overall, it was a 3.5.

Came here on a rainy day today to pick up some dumplings. This was my first time coming here. Food was not bad but it was annoying to be charged a "take out" fee that was automatically added to my bill. Ordering food that is over $75 for lunch and then having annoying extra fees added leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But the worst part was coming to the car and seeing they hadn't closed the lids properly and all the hot and sour soup had leaked into the plastic bag. Even the vinegar wasn't closed so it leaked into the soup dumplings. Completely disgusted with the service and added garbage fees. I won't be coming back for sure!

I came here for lunch with two of my friends. We got the crispy tofu (highly recommend!), sweet and sour pork ribs, pork shrimp chive potstickers, and steamed chicken. All of them tasted great and were packed with flavor, even the chicken which took me by surprise. I also got the beef rib noodle soup for myself, which was absolutely delicious. Food was amazing and came out in a timely fashion, service was quick and great at accommodating anything, and the vibes of the restaurant were very chill. Highly recommend coming here either by yourself or with family and friends!!

Although we drive by here often, this was the first time we've tried this restaurant. We were craving soup dumplings and this one was new to us. Service was excellent! We noted how warmly our server greeted his regular diners. We were seated quickly by a cozy window with a street view and our dumplings came out quickly. They were delicious and hit the spot for us. We ordered both the chicken and pork soup dumplings and really enjoyed the pork ones more. But a favorite for us we're the handmade pan fried pork, shrimp and chive dumplings. We will definitely be back.

BEST SPOT FOR CHINESE COMFORT FOOD. I've gone to all of the similar type of restaurants in the 626 -- Prince Dumpling, Mr. Dragon Noodle House, P P Pop, but Dumpling Tops is my favorite! The owner (I think) who is the asian man is SO sweet and checks in with every table and seems like the kindest soul. Customer service is 10/10. My go to orders are the pork potstickers, green beans, and the spicy beef noodle soup. The beef noodle soup is SO good and honestly compares to Din Tai Fung's. Noodles are thin and chewy and beef is so tender. The pork potstickers have the crispiest top and juiciest soup and pork inside. The green beans are also cooked to perfection, seasoned with lots of garlic. Please show this restaurant more love if you're ever in South Pas or the SGV! I love hole in the wall spots like these that are not overhyped. Has such a homey vibe too it inside too and is super super clean. 10/10 spot if you want authentic Chinese comfort food!

I thought it was nice to have a highly rated Chinese restaurant outside of the typical 626 areas and wanted to check them out. Ordered some takeout for lunch on a Saturday. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The beef noodle soup was super salty. It was so salty that I had to dilute it with hot water; it was otherwise inedible. The spicy pork wontons were wrapped in thick dumpling wrappers instead of the typical thin wonton skins. Very strange and way too thick. I ended up tossing most of it. The scallion pancakes were thin but flavorless. Perhaps they could've used some of that salt in the beef noodle soup. It also lacked a bit of the airiness in a properly fried pancake. The hargow and shumai were decent tho. I would perhaps be happy to see a place like this somewhere like Pittsburgh where legitimate Chinese food is scarce; but, not in the 626 areas

Was on the 210 freeway and looked up dumplings, this place was recommended and had tons of great reviews so we gave it a try last night! Service was amazing, our servers were kind and continuously checking to see if there was anything we needed. We went closer to their closing time so the restaurant was empty, which at first made me think it wasn't a good sign but luckily the reviews were right and our experience was great as well as the food. Restaurant was clean, restrooms were also very clean. Pork Soup Dumplings 10/10 Spicy Wontons 10/10 Orange Chicken with side of rice 10/10 Cucumber Salad 10/10 Pork shrimp with chive dumplings 10/10 I liked how the soup dumplings were a little smaller than usual which made it a little easier to eat :) Overall very delicious and we will be back

This dumpling spot is a gem in South Pasadena. Every time I'm in the area, it's a must-stop for me. The dumplings are consistently flavorful, fresh, and perfectly prepared -- you can truly taste the quality in every bite. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between modern and cozy, with a clean, relaxing atmosphere that makes you want to linger a little longer. Service is equally impressive -- the staff is attentive, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable without being overbearing. Overall, a standout experience from start to finish. Highly recommend if you're craving top-tier dumplings in a comfortable, well-run setting. They are great for takeout as I did for this nice rainy evening.

The spicy beef noodle soup is bomb ! The meat is always tender and flavorful and the noodles were cooked perfectly. I ordered fried tofu and it came with some chopped chilies to spice it up, perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The waiter was very attentive and would check on the customers /and make conversations. The restaurant looks clean and has plenty of light coming through the windows.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in South Pas! There are so many options to choose from, with options for everyone, including lots of vegetarian dishes which I especially appreciate. I came with my friends yestereday and we ordered several dishes, all being shareable size plates! live seafood was the favorite of our group, it was so fresh, healthy and tasty. I also love how friendly and helpful the staff is here, they are always willing to accommodate their guests. You should definitely try this place it's a very homey yet delicious restaurant, and I would 100% recommend !

I went to dumpling tops for dinner with my friends and absolutely loved it. The atmosphere is pleasant and friendly and the food came quickly. We got the Boston lobster and big mouth sea bass off the live seafood menu and it was delicious. Steamed chicken and steamed scallop with vermicelli were my favorite as well. Will definitely come back again!

This restaurant is called dumpling tops but I think their noodles are the best dishes to order. I had the lobster tail noodles, which was only $20 a bowl but it has a lobster tail, well-cooked vegetables and a real lot of noodles. The broth was very thick, it's the tonkutsu-style thickness. Noodles are very chewy and yummy. It's better than most noodle places. I had XLB and buns too, but I think they're average. Half of the 8 XLBs I had had their soup leaked onto the steaming plate. The bun's filling was a small portion. The veggie dumplings were quite good, though. It's fresh and delicious. Friendly and very quick service! Good vibes in the afternoon. They have parking at the back on Hope St passing a small alley (not the parking lot on Fair Oaks Ave).

You really cannot go wrong with the xiao long bao, steamed buns, or any of their other dumpling offerings. Beyond the dumplings, they have a lot of other dishes I really enjoy. Some of my favorites are the beef rolls, spicy wontons, green onion pancake, chow fun, orange chicken, and chow mein noodles. The noodles are especially good and, importantly, not overly greasy or oily, which can sometimes be an issue at other places. The prices are also competitive, especially considering the portions and quality of the food. It is the kind of place where you can order a good spread, share a bunch of dishes, and feel like you got a solid meal for the money. I also love that they bring out sugared peanuts when you sit down. It is a small touch, but a really nice one. The restaurant has plenty of seating, though service can be a bit slow at times, so good luck flagging down a waiter when it gets busy. You can also tell they are a high-volume dumpling restaurant because there is often steam in the dining room, which can make the restaurant feel a little warm at times. A couple of practical heads-ups: the tables are on the smaller side and can get crowded quickly if you order a lot of dishes, so just be mindful if you are planning to feast. You will also likely need to park in one of the structures around the area, but there is a large parking structure right across the street and plenty of parking options around Old Town. Overall, Mama Lu is a great spot with excellent dumplings, solid noodles, competitive prices, and a menu that keeps me coming back. Definitely one of my go-to places in Pasadena.

It's a comfortable spot with padded banquettes or chairs at the tables, which feature chrome frames and (very good-looking) faux marble tops; along with white walls and light-colored wood accents, the owners have created a clean, simple, welcoming environment. The mood is jostled even further into a specific vibe of calmness with the carefully curated music being played: bossa nova covers of pop hits from bygone days (The Bee Gees' "More Than A Woman" and the Bee Gees'-written Streisand hit, "A Woman In Love" being examples), but it all works. The menu offers a varied selection of dishes from several Asian cultures, from Chinese Beef Rolls to Japanese noodles and soups to Korean Beef over rice. It's not a huge menu, but there's definitely enough there for everyone to find something interesting to eat. The food is all cooked in view of the customers by a staff of chefs working in a sparkling clean kitchen enclosed by windows, and the staff is uniformly friendly despite juggling a lunchtime crowd at the tables plus quite a lot of to-go orders. I tried 2 really enjoyable and satisfying dishes. Beef Rolls featured thinly sliced brisket rolled inside crispy fried crepes with scallion, cilantro and a touch of Hoisin sauce. The brisket had a mild but distinctive flavor that spoke of careful preparation, while the slightly astringent pop from the onions and herbs was a nice foil for the inherent fattiness of the fried crepes. The Hoisin sauce was very subtly deployed, lending tasty support without overwhelming everything else. I added some of the house chili oil for a little extra spice and peppery depth, but these well-made rolls were terrific all by themselves. It should also be noted that the portion is very generous, especially for the price ($12.80), and more than enough for 2 people (perhaps 4 people, if each has 1/2). My other dish was the Qinghai Clear Cold Noodle, a terrific-looking, and even better-tasting blend of thick, chewy noodles, fresh chopped garlic, veggies, tofu and chili sauce that's got a bit of heat but more so a pleasing depth of Chinese spices. This appetizer is packed with flavor and just happens to be Vegan (as are a number of menu items), so it can be enjoyed by anyone. All in all, this was a fantastic mid-week lunch that pleased the senses without breaking the bank, and I even brought some home for later. Do give this Noodle St. a try -- and if you're not in Pasadena, check their website, because they have 8 locations, with a 9th opening soon in Sherman Oaks.

The quality was solid, and everything came out hot. The chicken wings were great, the garlic green beans and cucumber salad were amazing, and the signature spicy ramen was really good too. It was a bit greasy, almost like birria, but the meat was tender and the broth tasted like it had been cooking for 48 hours deep, rich, and full of flavor. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the Korean beef. It was way too sweet and didn't really give Korean BBQ flavor. The meat seemed more steamed than grilled, and not even vinegar or chili oil could save it for me. Other than that, everything else was fresh, flavorful, and worth coming back for.

We did wait about an hour, but honestly I didn't mind at all because it gave us a chance to relax, talk, and catch up as a family. They looked like literal pieces of art being poured at the table. Ordering was super easy with the QR code system, so my husband handled the whole spread: shumai dumplings, chicken feet, sesame balls, and more. Everything came out hot, fresh, and beautifully plated. The ENTIRE table agreed on one thing: the chili oil condiment deserves to be sold in bottles to take home. It was that good. Smoky, just the right amount of spicy, and addictive. Now for the real test: my in-laws. They've been to *many* dim sum places and are not easily impressed. They declared this place to have the best chicken feet that they've ever had: meat easily sucked off the bone, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and perfectly seasoned. High praise coming from dim sum veterans. Most importantly, my parents' first dim sum experience couldn't have been better. They loved everything from the ambiance to the food to the overall experience. My husband and I want to come back to explore more of the menu because there's clearly so much more to try
