Spicy Pork Wontons - not very spicy.
    Eric H.

Nice, clean spot with plenty of tables and pleasantly decorated. There was only one other table seated when I came in for lunch, and one server on hand. I was expecting a quick and tasty meal but you can't always get what you want. I ordered the XLB, which came out in a bamboo steamer. They left the lid on, which was great, as it kept the dumplings hot longer. There was a fair amount of broth in the dumplings and the pork had some nice flavor. The Spicy Pork Wontons were not very spicy but still enjoyable. So far, so good. The table condiments included the Red Label Kikkoman Soy Sauce, which is the high sodium sauce. I asked the server if they had the Green Label "Low Sodium" soy sauce, and he said that the sauce on the table was the low sodium. I told him that the low sodium had a green label, but he insisted that the red label was the low sodium. He was trying to convince me that they had what I was asking for, I didn't want to argue with him so I dropped it. If you don't have low sodium soy sauce, then just say, "We don't have it". Don't pretend that you do. The whole exchange was disappointing, but I still went on to order their Signature Beef Noodle Soup. After about ten minutes the server came over and started clearing my table. I reminded him that I was waiting for the Beef Noodle Soup, and a panicked look came over his face, as it was clear that he forgot to put in my order. Another disappointment. After waiting for at least 20 minutes, the soup finally came out. I asked for it to be spicy but there was barely any heat, so I added my own. The broth and the noodles were ok, but the dish did not contain much beef. In addition, the beef that was included, was very fatty. Several chunks were just completely inedible. Looking back on it, most of the beef wasn't good, so maybe it wasn't bad that I didn't get more in the dish. Again, disappointing. At the end of the day, I've had worse dinning experiences, but this is one that I'm not looking forward to repeating anytime soon.

We ordered the xiao long bao shrimp with green bean, shu Mai, and the lobster tail with chicken noodle soup. The xiao long bao were disappointing because the wrappers were way too thick. The shu mai It reminded me of frozen shumai from the supermarket. The shrimp and green bean dumplings were the one normal taste, we ordered the lobster tail chicken noodle soup was just OK. Nothing special. Overall the food was pretty average. The service was attentive, and the staff checked on us often which I appreciated, the food just wasn't good enough to make me want to come back or recommend this place it was.

Found this place close to where we're staying. Never knew South Pas had dumplings. We were glad to arrive and have a table for our larger party. Ordered our staple items. Beef noodle soup (non spicy) 3.5/5 thin noods clean broth, tender beef slices, fresh bok choy Potstickers 4/5 Juicy inside. Great flava Chive & shrimp dumplings steamed 3.5/5 Garlic Green beans 4/5 Addicted to these XLB 3.5/5 Siu Mai 3/5 Rice cake stir fried 4/5 Great wok flava Beer 4/5 Tea drinks 3.5/5 Service 5/5 Sweet things 4/5 Frozen fish green tea ice cream sandwich and comp mini eclairs and cream puffs The food came out fairly consistently to our eating pace. Staff made sure we had everything we needed. This reminded me of homestyle cooking so not a lot of salt or msg, if any, so I appreciated that. Overall, it was a 3.5.

Came here on a rainy day today to pick up some dumplings. This was my first time coming here. Food was not bad but it was annoying to be charged a "take out" fee that was automatically added to my bill. Ordering food that is over $75 for lunch and then having annoying extra fees added leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But the worst part was coming to the car and seeing they hadn't closed the lids properly and all the hot and sour soup had leaked into the plastic bag. Even the vinegar wasn't closed so it leaked into the soup dumplings. Completely disgusted with the service and added garbage fees. I won't be coming back for sure!

I am a little bit surprised that the foods taste really good, because this place looks like American Chinese, which could be not as authentic as many good Chinese restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley area. The beef rib looks rough but it is actually very tender with mild seasoning so that you can still taste the meat flavor. The shrimp noodle is a good surprise for me because it is not like any of the Chinese noodle dishes I had before. The flavor is more sophisticated with well balanced aroma. Overall a good experience and now I am thinking about coming back to try their other dishes. The staff is also helpful for ordering dishes by telling us whether the ingredients are fresh or frozen. I like the pretty umbrellas hanging from the ceiling.

Although we drive by here often, this was the first time we've tried this restaurant. We were craving soup dumplings and this one was new to us. Service was excellent! We noted how warmly our server greeted his regular diners. We were seated quickly by a cozy window with a street view and our dumplings came out quickly. They were delicious and hit the spot for us. We ordered both the chicken and pork soup dumplings and really enjoyed the pork ones more. But a favorite for us we're the handmade pan fried pork, shrimp and chive dumplings. We will definitely be back.

BEST SPOT FOR CHINESE COMFORT FOOD. I've gone to all of the similar type of restaurants in the 626 -- Prince Dumpling, Mr. Dragon Noodle House, P P Pop, but Dumpling Tops is my favorite! The owner (I think) who is the asian man is SO sweet and checks in with every table and seems like the kindest soul. Customer service is 10/10. My go to orders are the pork potstickers, green beans, and the spicy beef noodle soup. The beef noodle soup is SO good and honestly compares to Din Tai Fung's. Noodles are thin and chewy and beef is so tender. The pork potstickers have the crispiest top and juiciest soup and pork inside. The green beans are also cooked to perfection, seasoned with lots of garlic. Please show this restaurant more love if you're ever in South Pas or the SGV! I love hole in the wall spots like these that are not overhyped. Has such a homey vibe too it inside too and is super super clean. 10/10 spot if you want authentic Chinese comfort food!

I thought it was nice to have a highly rated Chinese restaurant outside of the typical 626 areas and wanted to check them out. Ordered some takeout for lunch on a Saturday. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The beef noodle soup was super salty. It was so salty that I had to dilute it with hot water; it was otherwise inedible. The spicy pork wontons were wrapped in thick dumpling wrappers instead of the typical thin wonton skins. Very strange and way too thick. I ended up tossing most of it. The scallion pancakes were thin but flavorless. Perhaps they could've used some of that salt in the beef noodle soup. It also lacked a bit of the airiness in a properly fried pancake. The hargow and shumai were decent tho. I would perhaps be happy to see a place like this somewhere like Pittsburgh where legitimate Chinese food is scarce; but, not in the 626 areas

Was on the 210 freeway and looked up dumplings, this place was recommended and had tons of great reviews so we gave it a try last night! Service was amazing, our servers were kind and continuously checking to see if there was anything we needed. We went closer to their closing time so the restaurant was empty, which at first made me think it wasn't a good sign but luckily the reviews were right and our experience was great as well as the food. Restaurant was clean, restrooms were also very clean. Pork Soup Dumplings 10/10 Spicy Wontons 10/10 Orange Chicken with side of rice 10/10 Cucumber Salad 10/10 Pork shrimp with chive dumplings 10/10 I liked how the soup dumplings were a little smaller than usual which made it a little easier to eat :) Overall very delicious and we will be back

I came here for lunch with two of my friends. We got the crispy tofu (highly recommend!), sweet and sour pork ribs, pork shrimp chive potstickers, and steamed chicken. All of them tasted great and were packed with flavor, even the chicken which took me by surprise. I also got the beef rib noodle soup for myself, which was absolutely delicious. Food was amazing and came out in a timely fashion, service was quick and great at accommodating anything, and the vibes of the restaurant were very chill. Highly recommend coming here either by yourself or with family and friends!!

The spicy beef noodle soup is bomb ! The meat is always tender and flavorful and the noodles were cooked perfectly. I ordered fried tofu and it came with some chopped chilies to spice it up, perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The waiter was very attentive and would check on the customers /and make conversations. The restaurant looks clean and has plenty of light coming through the windows.

You really cannot go wrong with the xiao long bao, steamed buns, or any of their other dumpling offerings. Beyond the dumplings, they have a lot of other dishes I really enjoy. Some of my favorites are the beef rolls, spicy wontons, green onion pancake, chow fun, orange chicken, and chow mein noodles. The noodles are especially good and, importantly, not overly greasy or oily, which can sometimes be an issue at other places. The prices are also competitive, especially considering the portions and quality of the food. It is the kind of place where you can order a good spread, share a bunch of dishes, and feel like you got a solid meal for the money. I also love that they bring out sugared peanuts when you sit down. It is a small touch, but a really nice one. The restaurant has plenty of seating, though service can be a bit slow at times, so good luck flagging down a waiter when it gets busy. You can also tell they are a high-volume dumpling restaurant because there is often steam in the dining room, which can make the restaurant feel a little warm at times. A couple of practical heads-ups: the tables are on the smaller side and can get crowded quickly if you order a lot of dishes, so just be mindful if you are planning to feast. You will also likely need to park in one of the structures around the area, but there is a large parking structure right across the street and plenty of parking options around Old Town. The tuna don had a generous portion of tuna and rice. It tasted fresh and was a simple and well executed dish that satisfies your cravings. The soba noodles were a surprise to me. I didn't expect the soba noodles to be in a sauce with a string sesame oil consistency and taste. It was refreshing yet a bit heavier as a result. I also love the variety of fish provided with it. Overall (5/5): Disclaimer - we came here late April. But this is a gem in Pasadena that we wished we visited sooner! The lunch deals have very generous portions for the price and we were super stuffed after. We also were quite impressed with the execution of the tsukemono which looked like canned vegetables mixed with mushrooms that were pickled together for an unexpectedly rich flavor. We were greeted as soon as we got through the door, and the waiter explained that we will order our broth with him, but all other food will be ordered through the iPad. It's always nice when restaurants utilize the iPad, because it just makes the process so much easier! We ordered the Tom Yum broth, which was incredible--it was so rich in flavor and the perfect spice, too. It's one of the best Tom Yum broths I've had. We ordered quite a few things on the iPad: greens platter, ribeye, marbled beef, fish roe balls, corn, rice, and handmade noodles. Their sauce bar is at the entrance of the restaurant, and there's quite a few options that they have. All their veggies, noodles and meats were pretty high quality. Would definitely recommend getting the Ribeye! The service there was top notch. The workers there would grab empty plates almost immediately, move plates closer to us as we finished other things on the table and filled our broth quickly. Overall, I would definitely recommend and return here! It was such a great option for hot pot!

There are actually mahjong tiles hanging all over the wall! As a huge mahjong lover, I was completely thrilled. It brings back so many nostalgic memories; I was literally counting the tiles on the wall to see if any were missing while waiting for the food Self-Service Area There's a super rich self-service snack section right by the door! While waiting for your meal, you can grab some mini twist biscuits, boiled edamame, boiled peanuts, and fried shrimp chips. There are also ice jelly, white fungus soup, and oranges to take as you like~ The condiment station is so extensive it's almost overwhelming, and they even have their exclusive "Yaomei" house special sauce blend. Single-Serving Dry Pot I ordered a dry pot, which was more than enough for one person! You can pick 7 ingredients, and I chose: Shrimp + Beef Balls + Tripe + Spam + Rice Cakes + Sweet Sausage + Potatoes The potatoes were soft, fragrant, and melted in my mouth. The rice cakes were incredibly chewy with a perfect glutinous texture~ The seasoning tasted very authentic, with all the spices blended just right. The chili was spicy without being harsh, with a gorgeous, vibrant red color. It goes ridiculously well with white rice --one bowl was definitely not enough!
