Dan Dan noodles, mouth watering chicken, and garlic pork belly

Loved this place so much I had to visit it twice in one week. The food is incredible and the workers are so attentive and kind. Probably the best Chinese food in Pasadena.

Enter with Caution. It's gonna get spicy. To long to read - get the Mapo Tofu with Beef. I think it's a great dish, especially if you're new to Sichuan food. I had it on Medium spice, and I was sweating profusely. It doesn't come with rice, so be sure to order white rice on the side. The Sichuan Boiled Blackfish is delicious if you can share with a friend. Be warned --- also very spicy. The fish is so tender and I found myself sipping the addicting lava broth. It hurt so good. I would not order the Dan Dan Noodles or Diced Chicken with Spicy Chilies again. I felt like there wasn't enough chicken and the dan dan noodles had a weird musty flavor that I didn't resonate with. I prefer the Taiwanese version a little more. My last words, be careful with your spice tolerance. Leave your pride at the door and go a or two notch lower. I had stomach cramps afterwards. I would definitely go back again for the Mapo Tofu. The server found my little puddle of sweat adorable, and gave me napkins. Bless her heart.

Dan Dian mian, spicy diced chicken and green beans

Small, somewhat hidden and unassuming establishment in Pasadena. We saw how busy it was with mostly Chinese clientele so we were curious to try it! We tried the spicy diced chicken, green beans and dan dan mian. We asked for everything to be medium spicy, and while this was pretty doable for us, our bodies got pretty overwhelmed that we finished without feeling full. Among the three, the noodles were my favorite. I especially liked the type of noodles they used as it had a lot of bounce, and that instead of using ground pork they used small pork chunks. My only critique is that the sauce wasn't as nutty tasting as other dan dan mian I've had. The spicy diced chicken wasn't as crispy as others I've had, but I still liked it enough that I'd still get it again as it's a staple for me when I get Sichuan food. The green beans was advertised as having beef but there was hardly any ground beef. Service was really top notch. Will definitely return!

Mapo tofu and cumin lamb to go. Sooo good

Sichuan street food does Sichuan food well. The numbing spice is not over done. They have mastered the levels of spice. I enjoyed the medium spice for mapo tofu and cumin lamb. The cumin lamb was spicier than the mapo tofu. Someone mentioned that the dry dishes are spicier than the wet dishes and I agree! Not sure why. These dishes do not always come w rice so you will have to order a side of rice but it is needed. The rice can help offset the spice. Both times I ordered to go. No time to wait for food but honestly each time there were lots of people and no parking. The temperature inside was hot as well. I wouldn't want to go on a hot day.

I was craving a pork kidney dish and came across Sichuan Street Food. I love spicy, but can't handle the heat like I used to so tried to order everything with the least amount of spice as possible at a Sichuan restaurant haha. We ordered the Sichuan Home-Style Fried Noodle with Beef, Stir Fried Pig Kidney, and the Dan Dan Noodle with Pork. I would give all the dishes 4 stars. Everything tasted good overall, very flavorful, and nice portions. The Pork Kidney was still pretty spicy even though I asked for lighter spice. This dish uses mala spices and has some sort of pepper balls. A lot of them, where you feel that tingling numbness when you bite into it. The service was attentive although it took a while to get our food. It's not a big restaurant, but there's seating on the first and second floors. We were able to get a table right away when we arrived within 20 minutes of opening. Overall the food was good and I would come back.

Food was soooo spicy. As an Indian girl, I handle a lot of spice but this one was insane, American spice tolerance wouldn't be able to handle this spot tbh. Go for mild on the dry dishes and medium for the wet dishes. Service was good but they don't have many English speakers there so it was a little hard to ask questions about spice levels and if there could be adjustments made to the food. It's a very small restaurant. Doesn't take reservations. First come first serve. But people there eat very fast.

This place was busy in the middle of a work day but we got seated upstairs and the service was quick. It helps to have friends who speak the language. The twice cooked pork was flavorful and came with lots of leeks (I think) and the kidney was an adventurous pick. It also came with lots of veggies like celery and maybe chayote. Dan Dan noodles is a spicy version with minced meat. Everything was tasty and HOT!

Great food and service for those who crave authentic Szechuan flavors. Personally I like it because it's not too mouth-numbing like a lot of other places, and the 'popcorn chicken' ($17) and fried green beans ($14) pack just the right amount of heat (I asked for 'medium' spicy). Easy street parking on Green St.

Sichuan Street Food is somewhat new to the Pasadena food scene so my friend and I decided to give it a try. Upon entering, we noticed that the restaurant is on a cozy/smaller end but because we arrived early enough, there were still a few seats open. We ordered the twice cooked pork, diced chicken with spicy chillies, and dried bean curd salad. I was looking forward to the chicken with spicy chillies and I've tried the ones from several other restaurants in the SGV, so i was expecting something similar. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a disappointment in terms of texture and spice level. The meat was a big tough and hard to chew. The twice cooked pork, on the other hand, was enjoyable. The meat was better and the vegetable added a good contrast in texture. The dried bean curd was also delicious. It's usually one of my go-to appetizers, when available, and this one met my expectations. Street parking available and no dedicated lot, unfortunately.

So I think I just found my FAVORITE Chinese restaurant in SoCal... and I've only been there ONCE. Best Kung Pao Chicken I've ever had. Period. Full stop. Not negotiable. OMG I love this place! I rolled in around 12:30pm on a Saturday. The place was packed. Every diner? Asian. That's when you know right? I was lucky - I waited almost 10 minutes and was given a seat at a small table just as a line started forming out the door. And yes, I did feel a little guilty taking a table by myself... for about 5 seconds. Then the food came and I didn't want to leave. I hadn't had Chinese food since May in San Francisco, where I thought I had peaked within the culinary Chinese cuisine mountaintop at Henry's Hunan Restaurant! But that was NoCal. The search for SoCal's best? Over. At least for now. I ordered two dishes: 1. Kung Pao Chicken (Medium spicy) 2. Sichuan Dry-Fried String Beans with Beef (Also medium spicy, also lit me up a little) The level of spicy they offer: Mild, Medium, Hot, Extra. I wasn't gasping for water, but I did break a sweat. That's my kind of spice. I wanted to order more because so many dishes caught my eye but I was solo. And while I probably could've eaten a third plate, I didn't want to be "that guy". Well... I don't mind being "that guy" I just had to have some self-control. Here's how good it was: I'm willing to try the Stir-Fried Bullfrog next time. Yes, they serve bullfrog. Yes, it's got its own section on the menu. Yes, I'm oddly curious. And honestly... I don't want too many people to find out. If word gets out, and someone tells someone, and they tell someone else, and suddenly everyone knows -- I'll never get a table again. So if you read this... pretend you didn't.

WOW! This place is the real deal. Aunthetic Sichuan through and through. The Sichuan Boiled Blackfish Fillet (水煮鱼 黑鱼片) is insanely good...spicy, flavorful, and absolutely unforgettable. I literally "died" from the heat... in the best way possible! This spot is the OG for sure

We'd been talking about getting Chinese food, and he picked Xiang La Hui, his go-to spot for classic Sichuan. I'd never been before, and was more than happy to try a new spot in the SGV. We met up at noon and stayed until the restaurant wrapped up lunch service and gently pushed us out the door, sometime around 2:30. The space was nice, instantly recognizable as a Chinese restaurant in Alhambra. It was pretty quiet the whole time, a good place for a leisurely catch-up. Service was fast and polite, though the combination of QR code ordering and poor Verizon service was a bummer. I had to cross the dining room to take down the wifi password posted on the opposite wall. We ordered a sizable spread for two people: Chong Qing fried chicken, dan dan noodles, wontons with chili oil, and pea tips with garlic. Everything was delicious, most of all the Chong Qing fried chicken, crispy nibbly bits of breaded chicken stir-fried with green onion and hot pepper. I love dan dan noodles and wontons, and thought both were great, if not the best I've had in the area. The pea tips were lovely, bright green and not spicy, but abundantly flavorful. I'd love to come back to Xiang La Hui and try more of the menu. It seems like a restaurant that does everything well, and I'll keep it in mind whenever I'm craving Sichuan.
