Welcome dim sum to the haight. They just had their grand opening over the weekend, we've been waiting for the opening so we're happy to try this place out. Sat fairly quickly but once it's ruining normally I'd say you might have a wait. We know they have an upstairs that wasn't open when we arrived. You ordered on a QR code pay after. The place looks great. Even the tableware is beautifully thought over. Everyone was pleasant, service was as quick as can be for first runs. Items we shared: We loved the chow mein. Great flavor, enough portion for either 2 or 1. Szechuan wonton felt like too much chili oil for my liking with not enough outer spice. But plenty inside to give you that numbing Szechuan flavor. Spicy pork dumpling was the star. Great soup taste, perfect dough, great pork flavor, not spicy at all. Wagyu dumpling was our 2nd favorite. Great flavor, dough was steamed and left plain to not take away from other flavors. Soup inside also flavorful. Potstickers not pictured were all evenly fried. Not oily, great crisp. Inside is moist, with great flavor. (6 pieces) Overall, we are coming back and excited to try the other items on the menu. read more

Welcome to the neighborhood Dumpling Union! We passed by this new restaurant the other day while looking for lunch and was pleasantly surprised to see a new restaurant. The nice lady told us that they weren't open yet but to come back on saturday for their grand opening. It was very busy and a little rough around the edges of course but the food was very very delicious. Highly recommend: Spicy pork xlb Sichuan hot and spicy dumplings Bbq pork bun Three flavored dumplings Pro tips: - Don't get distracted by the ordering ipad, thats for takeout only. Flag down a waiter to get seated. - Scan QR code and order food through your phone I'm sure once the staff gets into the groove, it'll be perfect. This is honestly my boyf & I's fav local dumpling spot! The portions are always generous and everything is super tasty. The few times we've been here we always order the Pork Steamed Soup XLBs, Stir Fried String Beans, & Sichuan Dan Dan Noodles - they are so good, it never fails. We've also recently tried their Mapo Tofu & Classic Pot Stickers - and again, these were so tasty and LARGE in portion. One note: we did try the spicy pork XLBs and they are not bad, BUT we felt that the seasoning was a bit too salty, rather than spicy, and there wasn't any soup really (just our personal opinion lol). Came here a few nights ago with a few friends and was pleasantly surprised! Given the abundance of dumpling spots in SF, I came in with an open mind but everything was very solid. We got the Tan Tan noodles, mini pan fried potstickers, steamed dumplings, cucumber salad, and some XLBs of course. The noodles were really good, and the XLBs and steamed dumplings were solid. I wish the mini pan fried potstickers were a bit more crispy but they were pretty good too and I think it had some soup inside too (or was just very juicy). I LOVE this place. I have been to both locations several times, and I was so glad when the haight st one opened up near me. The food is excellent every time, and I love how you can order online without waiting for a server. It feels very modern, and minimizes wait times. The food comes out quickly and it is always super fresh and hot. The quality is hard to beat. Everything I've gotten has been delicious every time. I'm a sucker for the crab rolls, along with the pork buns and chicken dumplings. The staff has also been very friendly and polite, and the atmoshere is casual and pleasant. Big big fan. read more

Stopped in to check this place out as it's new in the neighborhood. We tried 3 dumpling dishes and the string beans. It wasn't busy late on a Saturday night and got seated right away. Service was quick and friendly. Food wasn't so great. We got the 3 flavor dumplings, pork siu mai, and Tom yum XLB. Siu mai and dumplings both tasted bland and fell flat from expectations. There was plenty of filling inside but needed more flavor. The XLB was pretty good and liked the Tom Tom for different flavor but also felt like they could've been juicier. Nothing came with sauce but had bottles of soy, vinegar, and chili oil on the tables. The XLB didn't come with any spoon for the dumplings either. Overall, I'd probably skip coming here again but was happy to check it out. read more

The noodles were so nice, tasted like home made. Spicy but not overly. Pan fried potsticker was also fried to perfection. Only negative was yea was quite weak. Dank dank dank. Food was absolutely delicious. Probs stands up to the famed Dumpling home if I do say so myself (which I do, it's my Yelp account ‍). Ordered the veggie dumplings, three kind dumplings, green beans and mapo tofu vegetarian style. Everything slapped. The green beans came out first and we're PACKED with flavors. They were hot in temperature which was perfect for the cold day. Seasoned/sauced to perfection, didn't need any additional adders. The mapo tofu had great spice, great portion size and was banging. The dumplings were solid and I def appreciated them more with the soy sauce/chili oil combo. Service staff extremely friendly and accommodating. The place looks like it's already getting packed pretty quickly around dinner time - people must be hearing the good vibes. Only tip would be to have the option to order via the website with vegetarian substitutions built in. I had to verbally ask the staff about editing the order to have no pork. I've had dumpling union twice now -- once the day it opened, for take out, and also last night with my sister and friend. We unnecessarily made reservations here for 5:15 and got a seat right next to the tv, which was great bc the warriors game was on. They have a lot of seating with a very cute upstairs space. We ordered a bottle of wine, pork bao, soup dumplings, noddles, cucumber salad, and wagyu dumplings. Everything was pretty good but surprisingly not as good as I remember it being for take out the first time. I wish i knew the names of the dishes we got but the other two ordered everything and I wasn't really paying attention. The soup dumplings were just okay, they were purple which is my fav color but there was a very strong fragrant spice/after taste to it that I didn't love. The pork bao was solid, hard to mess up. The cucumber salad was delicious and the wagyu dumplings were just OK! Didn't try the noodles, though. Will be back. read more

Found this restaurant on yelp and I'm glad we tried it. The food is reaaaaally good. The service excellent, we got there close to closing time and our waiter(lovely lady, very friendly) took our order, suggested a couple of dishes, and told us not to worry about rushing to eat fast. Good value, and very tasty. I met a friend and we shared Hot and Sour soup (generous bowl that can feed 4-6), pot stickers, soup dumplings, pork dim sum...and I think that's it. Was plenty for 2 people, and everything was hot and fresh when delivered. Insides were tasty, everything was satisfying. I got a pot of green tea, she got some herbal tea. New Dumpling place in the lower Haight. I ordered take out and it was done in 15 min for lunch. The soup dumplings were really good, I got the shrimp/pork and they came in little aluminum containers so the juice didn't spill out before I got home. Opened up in my hood so I checked them out. The beef soup looked the most interesting and it was really good minus the noodles. Would have been way better with handmade noodles. The soup dumplings were nothing to write home about. Got the combo. The purple tasted the best but I don't know which flavor that was. They came in the metal tins which I think is cheating. A few of them ripped while trying to remove them from the tins. I also asked for ginger and vinegar and rather than saying ok, they make a fuss about how they don't normally provide it but can make some if I want. Which I did. Tried this spot for the first and last time. Ordered the spicy xiao soup dump. 10-15 mins later the server asks- you ordered spicy dumps right? They must have forgot. Took another 10-15. Mind you the place had like 4 tables seated. Dumps come and they are not spicy- barely I guess. They are bland. Lame that I had to self serve myself water as well. Food here looks whack. read more

By far the best Beef Noodle Soup & Dan Dan Noodles I could find in the city, and dumplings were top notch too! If you care about al dente in the noodles and dumpling skins, don't sleep on this place. The beef noodle broth was rich, and the Dan Dan noodles were coated in a super floral, fragrant chili crisp. Was going to write this after eating but life got busy. This is their 2nd location (first is located on Union Street). We ordered the xiao long bao (of course!) and it was good. We order the zucchini and shrimp xiao long bao, maybe its a new item or an updated item that can be found at both location, but it was good. Our fave tho is still their Thai Tom Yum XLB. We gave this location's Beijing Fried Sauce Noodle a shot and what the waitress recommended to us was to add have the sauce first and if we felt we needed more THEN add more and that was a good recommendation otherwise it would be a bit too sauce heavy and salty. Overall another good meal we enjoyed. Note: we went on a not so busy weekend but we parked 2-3 blocks away after driving around 1x, so it wasn't bad. read more

It's just boring. We ordered the wagyu beef dumplings, chili oil dumplings (they call them Szechuan dumpling), and dan dan noodles to go. The dumpling skins themselves were fine but everything else has no flavor and just isn't worth the price. The actual dumplings had less flavor than the dumpling you can buy at Ranch 99 or Marina but the actual skin is better. For both the wagyu and chili oil dumpling I ended up adding my own chili oil because it was just so boring. They also skimp out on the sauce they give you and it barely covers the food you're given. This was the story with the dan dan noodles that felt like I was eating plain noodles with a hint of flavor. I've had a lot of Szechuan food and dumplings around the Bay and these are up there with the worst I've had. That might be a bit of hyperbole because I haven't had dumpling at poorly rated restaurants but, I would much rather spend a fraction of the money on a place in Chinatown where I know I'll get flavor. The packaging was nice though and they did separate the sauce from the food so that way it wouldn't get soggy. Avoid spending your money here and being disappointed. read more

This is my new go to place in the Lower Haight for quick and high quality food. They have a nice variety on their menu and the staff is attentive. I'm glad to see something opened in this space after Covid. The decor is light and fun, the dumplings are awesome, and the quality is top tier. Visited during lunch on a weekday. Everything in general lacked flavor, but the most flavorful items were very five spice forward (which I personally am not a fan of). We ordered the dan dan noodles, wagyu dumplings, combo XLB, and the cucumber salad. I like slightly blander food but this was too bland for me. We resorted to adding our dumpling dipping sauce to the dan dan noodles and the cucumber salad. Also the tap water tasted funky and like plastic. The restaurant was generally clean, but there was a weird and strong mildew smell in the space. Considering the prices and lack of flavor, I would much rather go to Dumpling Home. The server was kind, but didn't check up on us even though we were the only people in the restaurant. read more
