Dolsot (bibimbap in sizzling stone) with chicken
    Clarissa C.

Great food! We had the sizzling stone bibimbap and the "iron works" and enjoyed it all. I would recommend the spicy pork for flavor (it's not super spicy, don't worry). I would've appreciated more different kinds of sauces for variety, but we had many side dishes and bibimbap sauce available that helped with making the dishes more flavorful. The prices reflect typical SF pricing (that is to say, not cheap), but we did get a lot of food so it felt fair.

Came here with a group of 5 and had a short wait to get seated. Good: - The Korean noodle soup was a huge portion size! It was tasty and incredibly - Decent banchan dishes that came with the food - Seafood pancake was good! But the portion size was tiny - Homey vibes and ambiance, super nice staff Bad: - Took a long time to get the food orders to our table - over 30 min - Parking is hard in the area Overall this was comforting food for me and I'd come if I was in the area, but not make a trip all the way out due to parking.

A light 4 here from me. Got the rice and chicken, it was tasty and got the job done. However, the seafood pancake was tiny for the price. I've never received that little pancake before, and it wasn't spectacular tasting enough to warrant it. I would absolutely skip it next time.

Came here for a convenient lunch but was a bit underwhelmed. I tried the seafood pancake and was disappointed by how small it was for the price point. I also got the spicy tofu stew with beef added, and it was just okay flavor wise. The beef strips were really small and not worth the additional charge. The banchan and purple rice were good, but the side dishes alone weren't enough to carry my rating for this place.

Ordered via UberEats! I ordered the Seafood Pancake and the Bibimbap, the latter of which was packaged neatly with the rice/meat packaged at the bottom, and the vegetable mix-ins in the top layer of the box. They give a small side of banchan well. . Seafood Pancake: (3/5) Crisp but oily . Bibimbap: (4/5) The vegetables are fresh and add a great crunch to the meal, decent amount of meat as well

Solid Korean food with excellent flavors. The three Dolsot dishes (Bibimbap cooked in a stone vessel) with the crispy purple rice were delicious. The beef bone soup with rice cakes was also savory. An opportunity to earn 5 stars is to increase the amount of protein in the dish as the portions of beef and chicken were sparse in the three servings. All things considered, we will consider returning to this restaurant to try other dishes on the menu.

This is the first time I've gone on Yelp earlier in the day and saw a "discover" restaurant and actually gone that same day. It did not disappoint. This is nestled in a really cute part of Lower Haight and it's a walkable Neighborhood with lots of bars and More restaurant. A great spot for a midweek dinner. We really went balls to the walls and got almost everything on the menu except for the tofu soup. You HAVE to get the kalbi short ribs. $44 but worth it. Service was genuinely enjoyable. Like they were happy and grateful to be there and it's so rare to have those interactions lately. 5 stars for that alone.

Yummy Korean food in sf ! parking is a bit hard and we came at the last hour & a half. Everything we ordered was super good. Our friends drank and had a good time here! Service was quick and they were super helpful. All the meals were so hearty and inside feels homey!

This place is the epitome of comfort food. Everyone in there was ordering the spicy kimchi soup that came out bubbling, fitting for a cold, blustery day in San Francisco. We ended up getting the dorst, which is the bibimbap that comes out in a sizzling stone pot to get the crispy rice. It was easy to chat in there, the food was delicious, and service was fast. Would definitely come here again when I'm craving bibimbap

Immediately seated as walk in for 2 on a Wednesday lunch. The bibimbap in a stone pot was flavorful and warm thought the meal. The seafood pancakes added a nice crunch. Service was quick and attentive. Plenty of space inside, interior was clean and simple.

A typical Korean restaurant in SF that serves decent enough food... although the galbijjim (think Daeho) was surprisingly good. They call it something weird on the menu like "Crazy cow" but it is basically braised short ribs. We also got the mung bean pancakes which were a little bland and needed to be dipped heavily in the sauce. Overall it's okay, but wouldn't choose to eat here again

purple rice is the perfect spot if you're craving cozy korean comfort food in san francisco. the seafood soft tofu soup is warm and comforting, though i personally wished the flavor was a little bolder. the veggie jap chae came perfectly cooked and is easily one of my favorite glass noodle dishes. the beef short rib mini came with six pieces, which was the perfect portion for me and great for sharing. the waitresses were attentive and kept our banchan refilled throughout the meal. would definitely come back!

Came here on a whim with some friends and now it's one of my favorite Korean restaurants! Ordered the Galbi, Rice Cake Soup, Ramen, Kimchi Fried rice. Everything tasted incredible and the portion sizes were generous. Service was quick and efficient too! The restaurant itself was fairly plain, but the start of the show is the food... you need to come here!

The brisket is tender, smoky, and always disappeares way too fast. The hot link has perfect snap, the chicken is alwayss juicy, and the bao bun (side of pickled onions) is always a standard on all our orders. The sides, oh the sides, mac & cheese and potato salad are exactly what great BBQ sides should be. Don't forget the cornbread muffins either. And special alert: the brisket chili deserves its own spotlight. This is a family-run operation, and it shows. Great people, great food, and a fantastic addition to our side of the city. My advice: don't sleep on Smokin D's, place the order and always ask for extra BBQ sauce. Thank you, Smokin D's, for keeping San Francisco smoked, sauced, and happy.

For appetizers, we love: - Ayesha's freshly baked cornbread: buttery and soft pastry - 'Peking' pork belly bao buns: super delicate buns with juicy slices of duck - Double duck wings: crispy and yummy! For sides, we love the pork belly fried rice and the duck fat fries. SO flavorful and delicious. Fat just makes everything taste so good and I don't feel guilty at all about the amount of fries I had! The standout was my entree: the smoked galbi beef short ribs. I think it's worth it and you gotta treat yourself once in awhile!

Located on the ground floor of the infamous leaning Milennium Tower in San Francisco's Financial District, INTERNATIONAL Smoke was Michael Mina's fine dining barbecue restaurant collaboration with multi-hyphenate entrepreneur Ayesha Curry. I visited this place once, for a small dinner party hosted by Charles Schwab on Tuesday, October 14, 2024. We arrived shortly after 6:35 PM. The atmosphere was modern, but casual and hip, funky with exposed metal accents popping through concrete floors and columns. Evidently, the fully booked days were behind them - despite the place's popularity as a fun, lively eatery with the occasional celebrity spotting, the restaurant was fairly quiet that night and not a single person was at the bar. We were seated in the spacious Atrium with floor to ceiling windows. INTERNATIONAL Smoke was not your traditional barbecue restaurant. They presented a globally-inspired grill-centric carte inspired by the rich heritages of the co-founders. The globetrotting meat dishes highlighted diverse international flame-cooking and smoking traditions. The ambitiously broad menu intended to take diners on a culinary journey around the world, but, instead, delivered a disjointed and scattered passport. Similar to the food offerings, INTERNATIONAL Smoke's drink catalogue featured some rotating crafted cocktails that leaned into global flavours, such as KUNG FU PANDAN ($18) and MIDNIGHT IN OAXACA ($20). Boozy beverages like TICKLE ME PINK ($19), NEGRONI ($19), and the ESPRESSO MARTINI ($20) were enjoyed by some of my tablemates. A couple of us stuck to the ZERO PROOF potables like the BUZZ FREE BEE ($15) and RASPBERRY FIELDS ($12) of which the latter I found to be delightful. Cool ice cubes, too! Below are a few of the dishes that we ordered: DOUBLE DUCK WINGS ($28) - I don't eat duck, but my dining mates raved over the tender mango-habanero glazed meat that was falling off the bones. BLACK TRUFFLE CAESAR ($20) - This was a substantial serving, and the sweet onion crema, fried garlic, and truffle vinaigrette all worked well together. ROASTED CAULIFLOWER ($18) - Meh. Perhaps my prejudice against raisins and tehina got in the way of enjoying this STARTER. BLISTERED SHISHITO PEPPERS ($16) - There was not a single blister on any of the peppers, so, unfortunately, the expected smoky, charred flavour was completely absent. MISO YAKI BLACK COD ($48) - This order came with two considerable sized filets of the velvety soft and flaky fish served atop mild shishito peppers sitting in a light ginger dashi broth. It could have just been me, but one of the slices looked a bit undercooked. DUNGENESS CRAB GARLIC NOODLES ($45) - Joanna went with this rich, buttery dish of noodles tossed with wood ear mushrooms, generous portions of Dungeness crab, and heavily garlicked. It was hearty, but I didn't see any bok choy mixed in there, which would have disappointed me if I were Joanna. PERI PERI HALF CHICKEN ($39) - Dustin ordered this dish. The poultry appeared to be well marinated, so I can only assume that the deep, fiery acidic flavour with the pronounced smoky element came through in each bite. Surprisingly, no rants nor raves on this from Dustin...who is usually very opinionated. PORK BELLY FRIED RICE ($17) - Not the worst, but not the best. For the small bowl, this was a major rip off. FRIED BRUSSELS SPROUTS ($15) - Wow, for the price, this should have knocked our socks off, but was pretty lackluster. 8 OZ. CENTER CUT FILET MIGNON ($68) - I ordered this steak plate. The meat was cooked perfectly medium rare, but the taste of the red wine demi and the stuffed portobello mushroom were unremarkable. LEMON OLIVE OIL CAKE ($14) - This did not stray far from the standard olive oil cake, just a touch of lemon added to the cake's flavour + the pluot garnishes. Nothing standout about this, unintriguing. "SMOKED" CHOCOLATE S'MORES ($14) - Not your typical s'mores, more of an elevated take on the campfire classic with a valrhona molten cake sitting atop brûléed marshmallow fluff with a side of graham cracker crumble and a scoop of ice cream. CINNAMON CHURROS ($13) - The accompanying blueberry cheesecake and meyer lemon curd dips were the sole unique elements of this sugar-dusted fried pastry dessert. Without them, this plate would have been underwhelming. Mediocre food at high-end prices aside, table service was friendly. What was all the hype over INTERNATIONAL Smoke? My true guess is that the affiliation with Steph Curry and his basketball friends who would pop in were the big draw...because even with all of the smoking, this place had no fire.

Around this time, a very sweet kind lady (maybe the owner?) came out and thanked the crowd for patiently waiting. I took the opportunity to ask her how long the wait from where we were would be. She estimated around 45 minutes. It turned out to be more around 1.5 hours. But we knew her answer was just an estimate. We ordered everything except drinks on the menu. And a lot of it. The meat was premium, juicy and tender. The smoky flavor really penetrated to the bone. We really enjoy the banana pudding dessert (not pictured). This location is cleverly located in between two breweries which is great because you can grab your food and a beer at either breweries. This bussiness seemed to cultivate community and an overall great spot to gather. The only negative experience our group had was with a couple in line in front of us. We were large group (8 people and 3 kids) and a friend accidently bumped into the couple in front of us twice. We were trying to take a group picture and bumped into the man. This grown man cursed us out calling us "effing idiots" and many other ridiculous names. Look we are all here trying to enjoy a delicious neighborhood mom and pop. Things happen, if you cannot be kind to your neighbor in line, stay home and order delivery. Accidents happen! No one got hurt. Besides that unsavory interaction, this turned out to be a great afternoon for all. We will definitely come back to try the desserts and beef cheeks.
