Crab & cream cheese "rolls." For whatever reason, I feel compelled to order crab rangoon whenever I order Chinese, & this is their equivalent. They're more like "packets," thin & flat. The ratio of vessel to filling is just disproportionate. Where's the crab? Perhaps more importantly, where's the crab flavor? Lots of potential here but they fall flat. They went well with the Sichuan dan dan noodle sauce. * Combination Xiao Long Bao - 2/5 - The review for this item is a bit mixed. We liked the original flavor XLB, good amount of soup, salty enough / well seasoned. The spicy XLB were also pretty good, I would have preferred the to be a bit more spicy. The Tom yum flavor was there (sweet, slightly spicy, lemongrass) and very strong when you bite into the soup dumpling. I was not a fan of the coloring of the XLB (purple for spicy and red for tom yum). What bothered me the most though was the tins that the XLB sit in. They stuck to the tin and broke the skin. This place was excellent, my team came here with a large group of 15 for an offsite lunch and we had a fantastic time. Many vegetarian/vegan options on the menu. Standout was definitely the green beans, pretty much everyone enjoyed. They were extremely well done, super crispy on the outside while tender and flavorful inside. I also thought the mapo tofu dumplings were extremely unique and delicious, they had a very strong mapo tofu flavor which I have never seen in dumplings before, although some of my teammates were not big fans. Stumbled upon this place by mistake as we confused it with another restaurant with a very similar name. Prices I feel are a little steep for the portions, but I assume that's average for San Fran. We ordered the beef noodle soup, shrimp chow mein, bbq pork steamed buns, shrimp & chive dumplings and hot/spicy Sichuan dumplings. We stopped by for lunch after getting Kopiku when in the Cow Hollow/Marina area. Since we arrived before opening, we had to wait while they finished preparations to open for the day. We quickly got a table once they were open for business. After browsing the menu, we settled on the tom yum xlb, cucumber salad, and mapo tofu. This is a good solid neighborhood restaurant. It's my go to place and has a large takeout presence and a computer right in front to self-order. I like their vegetarian dumplings which come in a vibrant green color and are flavorful and have texture to them which is harder to do with vegetarian. The Mongolian beef seemed a little fatty, I wasn't into that but their the Kung Pao Chicken is good and I order often.
