    It was crazy busy on Saturday around 1:30 PM. Unfortunately, a lot of items were already sold out, but we managed to get the last BBQ pork pineapple bun. It was delicious the crispy topping gave it a different texture compared to a regular BBQ pork bun. The place is small, crowded, but the service was fast, and the line wasn't too long of a wait despite how busy it was. I'll definitely come earlier next time so I can try more of their items!

    This place is famous for their dim sum and their prices especially in one of the most expensive city in Cali. The line and following is no joke. We waited in line for about 30 minutes, and the line was considered short. They accept credit card for a small fee (3%) but prefer cash. The ladies serving are typical Chinese customer service, meaning you are a bother to them and why the hell did you come here? And the award of RBF goes to them. We got all their dim sum, har gow, shui mai, steamed bbq bun, baked bbq bun, egg rolls (3) and egg tart. Yes the price is right! The dim sums were humongous compared to restaurants, however, they were extremely salty. We took the food to the nearby park and were not impressed. The best thing was the baked bbq bun, but dim itself was alright. Probably more popular for the affordable price versus taste.

    A regular trek to the city was in order where a stop to China Town on the list. We do something unusual when in China Town, we go to several food establishments and purchase a couple of pork buns to compare with others. It's been a fun family tradition for years. Today we visited Good Ming Kok Bakery. The shop is small and crowded with cookware and patrons. The order board is on the wall with corresponding numbers to make it go quicker. It's a walk in, order and walk out establishment. Be prepared...there is a line. The ladies working are not personable and act as if they are doing us a favor. Very stern faced. (Service 1/5) The buns (5/5) were very tasty, light and full of meat. Definitely will keep this one on our radar when the kids come for a visit.

    SO DELICIOUS!! Based on recommendations from fellow foodies, this was our first stop in San Francisco--and it did not disappoint. They offer several varieties of dim sum and bao buns. We ordered: #20 Steamed BBQ Pork Bun #27 Steamed Sticky Rice Bun #2 Shu Mai #4 Chicken Shu Mai #6 Shark Fin Dumpling Favorites? Definitely the Shark Fin Dumpling and BBQ Pork Bao. Service: It's Chinatown, so if you don't speak the language, no worries--they have a simple English menu with numbered items that makes ordering easy for everyone. It's a cool cultural vibe for sure! We had a massive order (feeding a party of 8), but they were still kind, patient, and efficient. Helpful tip: When lining up, be mindful of neighboring businesses. The owner next door did ask the line to shift away from her entrance, which was totally understandable. BONUS: They accept Apple Pay. We will absolutely return on our next trip. If you're visiting the area, we parked at Chinatown Parking for a very reasonable price, and it was an easy walk to all the restaurants we wanted to try. Pro tip: Make an afternoon of it. Grab your food and enjoy it at the local park just south of the restaurant.

    04/18/26 Was in downtown San Francisco for a work event. On our last day, my sis-in-law and I wanted to grab something different to eat for breakfast other than bacon and eggs. We found this place on Yelp and it was about a 10 minute walk from where we were staying. Arrived before 9am and there was already a line formed. It's a tiny place so be prepared to grab and go. And you better know your order before you get to the counter because these boss ladies behind the counter work quick! Here's what I ordered and my rating: 1 baked bbq pork bun - perfectly baked but it lacked filling. I probably got one of those one offs. Taste was on point. Sweet and saucy. Would order again for sure. 1 steamed bbq pork bun - the filling was amazing. Perfect amount and same as above with the taste. The bun itself was slightly more starchy/bready than chewy/gummy, if that makes any sense. Everyone has a preference and I like mine a little chewy. I still would've ordered 3 more of these lol 1 order pork shumai - comes with 3 pieces per order - I don't usually rave about these. They never impressed me much. I'd never reach for more than one. But this one here.... This one has so much flavor. My eyes lit up after I took my first bite. 100/10 for this. Overall, 8/10. The food was delicious and service is what you can expect from a small yet busy and fast-paced establishment. One less star because I got more baked bread than meat filling. *sigh* I guess I gotta go back so I can make sure I get a perfectly filled baked bun.

    Got their deep fried meat(number 44). I think in Cantonese it's ham sui gok, but I have no idea, I just know I love it and I ate it a lot as a kid. Also got an egg tart and number 11, which is the soy sauce lo mein. The portion is huge for the soy sauce lo mein. Definitely worth $4! Service was okay, could've been better, but there was only one lady working the register and filling orders and you could definitely tell she was exhausted. There was also a line out the door, so one person handling ordering and filling the orders all day sounds exhausting. The food was good though! No seating, order, pay, and leave. Don't worry the food is good!

    It's a small hole in the wall place. You order and you leave. Typical little Asian market. My nephew loves their green onion buns hence why I was here on this visit. I also ordered the sesame balls which were warm. I enjoyed that. But it was lacking in the red bean filling. Good little gem!

    Tried to grab an egg tart from another spot, but they were closed for vacation... ended up stumbling on Good Mongkok Bakery after noticing a line of locals out front. Always a good sign. Grabbed this $1.80 egg tart to go and wow. Flaky, buttery crust with that perfectly silky, just-sweet-enough custard. Simple, fresh, and honestly way better than expected for the price.

    found this place via an influencer and yelp q&a section. I guess my expectations were really high going here, with people raving about how good it is online. And once we got there, there was a line so i was like what is the hype about? It must be good if people are lining up for it. But once we started eating, it was a huge disappointment!! :( I only ate through some of them because I was so hungry. I kept the leftovers with me until the end of the day but ended up tossing them because I knew i wasn't gonna enjoy them. It's definitely over-hyped and it's better to just find a sit-down place and i think there are better options available too without the line.

    Got some cha siu bao because I needed to try them after hearing over the years about them. Long line, be sure to not block the entire sidewalk or their neighbors' doorway. Get there early because they sell out of things. As for the bao we came there to get, they were good. I can't say they were the best ones ever, but they were solid. The ratio of bun to meat wasn't as great as I wanted, there was a tad bit more bun to meat than I would have liked. The bun itself was good, just a bit too dense/thick. The filling itself was solid. It all added to a good bao, but not the best ever. I'd go back, and give it another shot. I wonder if it was a bad batch I got and I'd like to try more of the offerings.

    Famous for take out dim sum portion with affordable price but unbearable waiting in line with China town street food service and noisy ambiance. Parking is horrible but that is SF China town or anywhere China town. If you have time to kill over chit chat with your friends waiting in line, try them. Anyway, you're in San Francisco

    Always a great meal when you buy dumplings from Good Mong Kok! The hargow is my personal favorite steamed order, and the deep fried meat dumpling is my favorite fried order! Both are definitely 5/5 quality dishes. The scallion bun is ok (3/5 rating) as it can be dry and without an outstanding flavor. The line can either be very long or very short, so I would keep in mind the peak times while planning to visit this place in Chinatown! There is also a small discount if you pay cash so bring that too! There aren't places to sit and eat so everything is to-go.

    Weekdays are usually 10-15 minutes. Weekends are longer. Closed on Tuesdays. Some of the best dim sum in SF. Reasonably priced. Parking is very challenging.

I also loved the stir fried rice cakes, which were sliced thin enough to avoid that overly chewy texture, and the stir fried noodles Shanghai style were classic and simple in the best way, with big chunks of cabbage and meat and just executed really (the chefs clearly have some serious wok skills!). Not everything we ordered was an absolute knockout as the vegetable dishes could use a bit more flavor and seasoning, but everything overall was good, and the portions across the board were very generous. The desserts were a last-minute decision and I am so glad we went for them. The lava custard buns were fluffy and amazing, with a molten salted egg custard inside, and the sesame balls had a satisfyingly crispy exterior that gave way to a perfectly chewy interior and sweet red bean filling. The value here is also excellent. We left absolutely stuffed and spent around $30 per person, which felt like a great deal for how much food we got and how much we enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

The spare ribs had a really nice savory flavor from the sauce. The egg tarts were okay. I need to note that these bags are leftovers from the day, so they're not as fresh. But they held up the next day so I was able to stretch 2 meals out of them. I can't comment on service since these bags are only for pick up. But they quickly provide the bags once the window open. And it's a small space, with maybe 2 tables. So this place is probably best for to-go orders. Their 2g2g bags have more variety than their Chinatown location. Not sure how many dim sum options there are in the Mission, but I would go here if I was in the area and craving a shrimp and chive dumpling.
