Beautiful Chinese restaurant in SF that opens early for dim sum. I was impressed by the inside. It's clean, spacious and nicely decorated with a beautiful bar. We arrived early Friday morning around 10:30 and there were already people enjoying dim sum. Our waitress was the only one working so it took a while to get our order in but once we ordered everything came out at a good pace. The dim sum is solid with generous portions. I enjoyed their pork and shrimp siu mai and their rice noodles with xo sauce.
Delicious dim sum! Extensive menu with something for everyone. We enjoyed several types of dumplings and a noodle dish. Everything seemed like it would come from someone's actual kitchen. Authentic flavors and ingredients really made the dishes that much tastier. Our favorite were the spicy noodles with ground pork. Spicy but still enjoyable and the noodles are probably the best I've had with the most delicious bite to them. Staff were friendly and brought everything in batches which allowed us time to enjoy everything in a timely manner.
This was a really good dim sum, despite ordering off menus and not having carts. We were able to bring our puppy and sit on the patio. They had a very deep menu, but unfortunately, they were out of the lobster for the lobster king pao. The service is typical dim sum service, so it will come as it's ready. It's chill, but don't expect an intimate dining experience. If you sit in the patio, passerby smokers may bother you. Parking is insane, so be ready to walk to get there.
After going to the Chinese New Year Street Fair, my dad suggested having lunch here. We didn't have to wait for a table and since it was a rare warm day in SF, we sat outside. It's a modern spot with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating located closer to Little Italy. Prices are more expensive than the typical dim sum restaurant. Our order: House Tea: $1.50/person -Like last time, it was red tea, but it tasted better than last time. If you have a group, it's probably better to pick a tea from the tea menu ($9.00/pot). 焗叉燒包 Baked BBQ Pork Bun (3 pcs): $6.45 +Consistent quality! The fluffy bun had a rispy crust that was slightly sweet with a good amount of well-seasoned BBQ pork that wasn't too fatty. +Not sure if they read my previous review, but there was no longer a thin layer of shaved carrots and greens on the bottom. 鮮蝦韭菜餃 Shrimp & Chive Dumplings (4 pcs): $6.95 -This was night and day compared to the ones I ate last time. The mushy wrapper stuck to the steamer and was filled with a paltry portion of mostly chive filling. 白灼牛栢葉 Steamed Beef Cattle: $10.95 +Huge portion of boiled beef triple on top of a bed of crisp bean sprouts +Compared to last time, the accompanying sauce and scallions had more flavor +Since the server poured the sauce over the dish once he brought it to our table last time, we requested it on the side. 干炒牛河 Beef Chow Fun: $20.00 +Noodles were stir-fried well and not stuck together +Crisp bean sprouts -There were a good amount of beef slices, but they were very soft and texturally didn't resemble beef. -Super greasy: We all commented how it felt like we were coating our lips in oil after each bite. Other items I've tried during previous visits: +Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf 珍珠糯米鷄 +/-Pork and Shrimp Siu Mai 蟹黃燒賣 -Fresh Bean Curd Rolls 鲜竹卷 -Marinated Five Spiced Beef Offal 五香牛雜 *Verdict: Decent spot for dim sum without a wait in the area.
The food was AMAZING!! Everything we ordered came out fresh, well prepared and tasteful. It wasn't overly busy, YET - the service was great. The place was nicely decorated, I LOVED the atmosphere and lighting choices. We ARE coming back! Note: the shui mai takes a lil longer so be prepared to wait.
Skip this spot. We wanted quick lunch so we ordered two different orders of soup dumplings and the spicy house noodles with minced pork. The soup dumpling skin was so tough. The broth was flavorless and so was the meat. Actually the worst soup dumplings I've ever had. Noodles were solid. Would definitely skip this place.
We ordered Singapore noodles, broccoli and beef, string green beans, pork soup dumplings, and chrysanthemum tea great portions. Fresh! We will definitely be back.
I have been searching for a decent dim sum spot ever since the pandemic closed a lot of mom and pop spots I really enjoyed. I came here a few times because I like to switch from a no frills dim sum restaurant to a fancier one. It was pretty good the first three times. I don't come here often because it's very out of the way and there's almost no parking around this area. I like that they don't make some of the traditional items too fancy. A lot of spots start putting corn and all these unnecessary ingredients in their food. However I did notice this time around, the food was very bland and the beef chow fun was extremely oily. It was lacking the nice wok hay taste as well. When I reheated it at home, the noodles were still pretty hard but super super greasy. The shrimp dumpling (ha gow) was extremely disappointing. It had no flavor and the skin was thick. You can tell it was bought from a big manufacturer and just steamed to serve. The chicken feet had very nice color, the bright red, which made me excited to eat because that usually means it's tasty. It was lacking the sweet flavor and was a miss for me. For the price and lack of flavor, I don't think I'd drive 30+ min just to come back (the funniest part is, I live in San Francisco, it's just a hassle to drive to North Beach). I was the only Asian person eating there which tells you something. A lot of tourist and also non Asians ordering the typical "XLB".
This is a very rare location that has the option of outside seating, so we were able to bring our dog with us! Unfortunately, the smell of SF streets are not great, but the patio itself was quite nice. It's located close by but away from the hustle and bustle of Chinatown so you'll have some peace and quiet. Service was good, although there may be some language barrier for English-only speakers. You are able to mark what you want with English words under the Chinese characters, it just might be difficult if you have questions. Highlights of their menu would be the Ham Sui Gok (Chinese footballs) and Liu Sha Bao (lava flow custard buns)! Overall though, this place is very expensive for the value so I'm giving less stars for that reason. Not surprised because of the location though but you may find more affordable alternatives elsewhere.
A friend was back in town, so we came out here to grab dinner as he was close to the North Beach area, and who doesn't love Dim Dum for dinner! The ambiance was nice, friendly workers, and very modern with the aesthetics around the whole restaurant. The place has a full bar and a giant television to watch what I was hoping to watch, Monday Night Football! We started off with some Tea, and each of us grabbed a drink. I had a Hennessy Old Fashion, my friend had the original style Old Fashion, and another had the Buddha Beer. The drinks were good, not too overpowering, and went well with every sip of the meal. We started with the Hot and Sour soup, which was delicious, and then had some string beans with XO sauce, crunchy yet flavorful. Next came out the item I usually hold my Dim Sum restaurants to, which was the Sui Mai and Har Gow, both were seasoned well, and you could tell they were made with care, definitely a check mark for me. At that point, we realized we may have ordered too much food as more items started piling up on the table. The Singapore Style Fried Rice Noodles were a lot for 3 people, but we managed to scarf it all down; extremely tasty. The Turnip Cake with XO was also flavorful. I thought I couldn't stuff any more down, but once my friend suggested you had to eat a Baked BBQ Pork Bun, wow, I ended up stuffing 2 down without any thought. The food here was great for dinner, the staff were friendly and checked if everything was great. I'll be making my way back here when I'm in the neighborhood in the future!

100% the best dim sum I've ever had. I wanted to knock a star off due to the high prices, but the portion sizes were legitimately surprising. The turnip/radish cake was fantastic and could easily feed 2-3 people. So rich in umami flavor, garlic, ginger. Plus there is a little Chinese sausage meat inside. TRULY hand made shrimp and chive rice dumplings. I immediately could taste the difference from that factory pre-made junk most dim sum places sell. This was a great surprise to me! Hand made bean curd skin rolls with shrimp, pork and black fungus mushroom. This was unique. It wasn't my favorite or anything like I expected, but I appreciated trying a new spin on something I love! I highly recommend Osmanthus. The weirdest part was at 11am, the place was nearly empty. Yet down the road, other dim sums were popping off. So, that's a real head scratcher. Maybe the price? Either way, go here and try it!
All around delicious food and cocktails. Loved my strong whiskey infused cocktail with tea and a large ice cube. Food wise everything was great including Soup dumplings Salt and pepper chicken wings Pea sprouts Spicy beef soup I thought it was pretty cool they have dim sum at all hours. We ordered a few items too. That made me happy lol Staff attentive and friendly. Had a great time. Seating both indoors and outdoors. A cocktail lounge is connected to the restaurant. Will def be back!
Recently came by and dined outside with my little pup. I had such a great time enjoying their NA cocktail, Garden & Grove with all the dim sum dishes. Aside from wishing this drink to be a little bit more sour, I love this type of seedlip NA beverages. For those that enjoy alcohol and can have it, Osmanthus DSL serves some great whisky pairings with dim sum. They also have a great list of tea which I didn't partake on this occasion. Great service and I enjoyed people watching from sitting outside this Broadway street facing restaurant. Located on Broadway and Kearny (next to the Peter Macchiarini steps). read more

Another great visit at Osmanthus! Delicious food. Great service. Love the atmosphere. I am impressed with their tea selection. There's just so many to choose from! This visit we tried Alishang Milk Oolong. It was absolutely wonderful! It's not milky, yet it has a lovely milk feel. read more

This place was rediculous good in everything. Service was great, food was seriously amazing. Restaurant was really nice looking and clean. We ordered the spicy salt calamari, the soup dumplings, the shrimp dumplings, the duck, the shumai, sweet and sour pork rib and the sesame balls. Everything was great. The spicy salt calamari was amazing, great salty kick and perfectly seasoned. The dumplings and the shumai were all super juicy and were perfect with the soy sauce and chili. The duck skin was crispy greatness and the duck was really juicy and went perfectly with the buns, sauce and scallions they serve with it. The sauce and breading on the sweet and sour pork rib was great even though we wished that they didn't have the bones. The last thing was the sesame balls and they had a great tasting outside and inside, a great sweet end to the meal. read more

3.5 stars. The food was decent but not out of the world. They allow pets on the patio, which was a big draw since our group had a dog. It was super cold outside even with the heaters, which wasn't as pleasant. We ordered the spicy wontons, the soup dumplings, the chicken dumplings, the coconut fish curry, and the Singaporean style noodles. We also got a pot of jasmine tea to warm up. The jasmine tea was lovely and helped with the cold immensely. The food came pretty quickly after we ordered it. A heads up that the curries do not come with rice, so you have to order it separately. The spicy wontons were good. For those who don't like schezwan peppers like me, beware that there is a hint of those peppers in the sauce. It isn't to the extent of numbing your tongue, but you feel a little bit. I liked the dish despite this. The soup dumplings weren't properly structured. They came in the aluminum foil cups and it was near impossible to take them out of the cup without splitting them apart, which means that the soup and the meat were now separated. It defeated the purpose of the dumplings. Considering that I am used to the intact dumplings from Din Tai Fung, this was quite disappointing. The soup was ok. The meat was ok. I just wish I could have had both together. The chicken dumplings were fine. I can't say that they were best ever but they weren't bad. They were ok. Eating them with the spicy sauce from the spicy wontons helped. The fish curry was honestly the best of the lot. The fish was wonderfully melt in the mouth with a very thin breading and the coconut based curry was delicious. It was a huge portion so my friend ended up taking almost 3/4 of it home. I would definitely recommend ordering this! The Singaporean style noodles were ok. If you are expecting Char Kway Teow when you read this, you will be mistaken. The noodles are more along the lines of vermicelli and the spice mix reminded me of a Japanese curry or an Indian Ching's instant noodles mix. We liked them, but I think we had a different expectation in our head. This dish is also not spicy so if you want heat, this is not the dish to order. Pricing wise, I think we paid an acceptable amount for the portions we got but the flavors could be a little better. Considering that this is a dim sum restaurant, I would really like their dumplings to be more on the mark. read more

After a long day in a different city, my wife, friend and I wanted to do something different and try Osmanthus Dim Sum Lounge for dinner. It was my wife and I first time ever having dim sum, and before we left we were actually told, "you don't eat dim sum in the evening." Well.... They were open, so we went for it. We walked in about an hour before closing, fully prepared for at least a little hesitation or rushed energy, but that couldn't have been further from our experience. The staff brought such great energy from the moment we sat down. Since we were new to Dim sum they offered guidance, and explained dishes, and genuinely helped us build an experience rather than just take an order. That stood out for me. It was family style dining, which honestly couldn't have been better for meeting up with a new friend. Sharing plates, trying new things, passing dishes around, it made the whole evening feel welcoming and relaxed. We ordered items we normally wouldn't have tried, and to our surprise, we loved them. At one point I even made the joke, "Dim Sum really good dumplings," and I stand by it! The food came out quickly, almost too fast because we over ordered significantly, but everything was fresh and full of flavor. Even as closing time approached, and we admittedly stayed a good 15 minutes past, the staff remained more than polite. No attitude, no rushing, just professionalism and kindness. We tried to wrap up as quickly as possible, but they never made us feel uncomfortable. Overall, it was a mostly positive experience that left a strong impression. Great energy, welcoming service, and a fun introduction to dim sum for first timers. I would definitely come back and explore more of the menu. read more

Came here on a holiday around 1pm after walking around Chinatown. We were seated right away with no reservation. Space was clean, calm, and casual with tables nicely spaced out. We ordered off a checklist menu. Service was friendly and relaxed. We enjoyed the soup dumplings (good soup but thick skin and ours unfortunately all burst), shrimp seafood fried rice (big portion, well seasoned), crunchy string beans with XO (mild heat), and a half peking duck (delicious crispy skin, juicy meat). Nice spot for dim sum without the chaos! read more
This is absolutely the best dim sum we have ever had. I think it was the freshness that really made it. Everything was made to order. We are used to the rolling cart dim sum we've had in Phoenix, but nothing compares to the freshness and quality at Osmanthus. The sesame balls were better than the ones I had in Japan. The restaurant overall was very open and clean. Service was friendly. It did take a little longer than usual for food to come out, but that's because they were cooking it fresh and it was so worth it. If I could choose one place to eat again in SF, it would be here. read more

The waiters were so friendly and had good recommendations. On a Thu evening, the charming restaurant has a few groups but I can tell a bar and restaurant like this could blow up on Fridays evenings. For food, these portion sizes were gigantic. My friend and I will have leftovers for days! Highly recommend the egg + oyster fried rice, XO green beans, and sizzling tofu. What a delight for our taste buds. Although some of the dishes are exceptional, weaker dishes are the Peking duck and shrimp and pork wontons in chili sauce. The duck was fine, but more of a roasted duck BBQ variety than true Peking. And the wontons were lacking salt although the filling was umami and moist. read more

Lots of seating and open-bar ambience and seated right away @ walk-in. Staff very attentive and checked on us . Dim sums were satisfactory but not super impressive. The food didn't arrive as hot ( temperature) as I prefer, especially the congee soup. Otherwise, tasty and savory dishes. read more
Sowe met the bartender, Kevin, somewhere else and he recommended we come to this spot. Glad we did. First, he is awesome. Such a nice guy. I had the Empress Lychee cocktail and loved it. Also enjoyed the marinated spare ribs! Great bar snack. I unfortunately didnt get to try more food, but I like the atmosphere and the menu. I will be back. read more
This dim sum restaurant is a hidden gem! The storefront is recessed with nice outdoor seating, so if you drive by, you would easily missed it. Their service is fast and friendly, the setting is very comfortable. Their service best part? The dim sum is solid, and their portion is healthy! To top it off, they also have a nice cocktail bar, so you can have dim sum while trying some cocktails. Definitely it a try if you are in North Beach area. read more

Came here after Pride on Sunday with my friend and cousin was really looking forward to it since I'd been craving it after my last visit. Unfortunately, this time around, it didn't quite hit the same. The beef chow fun was the standout super yummy and well done . but everything else was just okay. The honey walnut prawns had a bit of an odd aftertaste, and the duck was cold and not as enjoyable as I remembered. Could've just been an off day, but with so many other solid spots around, I'm not sure I'll be rushing back. read more

Went here for lunch and it did not disappoint! They were moderately busy on a Saturday right before noon, though we got seated quickly and efficiently. You place your order on a giant piece of paper and flag down your server to get that order ready for you. The food came out quickly as well. Everything that we had was tasty! My only commentary would be that the garlic noodles were a little too salty for my palate. Another colleague of mine dining with us, had to eat the garlic noodles with plain white rice, to cut down on the saltiness. The location is great with parking close by. The restaurant is spacious. We were seated right away. They offer online reservations too. Order from a paper menu marking what we wanted. Osmanthus impressed, despite my family being initially slightly skeptical over it being a cart-less dim sum spot. Overall ambiance feels more upscale than any other dim sum spot I've ever been to, but this didn't come with a compromise in authenticity at all. Every dish we tried had its own unique flavor, which sets high-quality dim sum apart from generic dim-sum that often feels like the same blend of meat is used over and over. We came for dinner. When this location used to be Enrico's, they had live music. Fast forward to now, it is a quiet Chinese restaurant. The layout remains the same. There's a bar on the right hand side but it is missing the lively atmosphere. The food all tasted fine. Since it wasn't busy, service was excellent. Good job staff at Osmanthus. read more

We definitely over-ordered here but everything was so delicious and tasted very high quality and fresh! I highly recommend the veggies with garlic as well as the shumai and house noodles. It's a very large and casual space and the service is quick! read more

Is there cart service?
No cart service. Food items are made to order and are fresh. We found that the dim sum served at Osmanthus is much better than Yank Sing's.

Yes they do! I believe I made one online via their website.
Where can I park my minivan?
Street parking was easy on a weekday, you just need to read the sign's carefully.
Are there any vegan options available?
I would say yes to that question you, but you should ask for menu maybe online to double check but I'm pretty sure they do have vegetarian

I am not the owner I was a customer at that establishment and you should go to the website and look it up they open at 10:30 in the morning and I know they close in the afternoon but I'm not sure what time
