My family and I had a lovely time eating here. The food that we ordered, everything looked really good. The food that we received however, we all got a little sick. We don't know what it was. We felt like one of the dumpling dishes was what did it to us. So, I can't say that we will return, but the experience was nice until it was not. The restaurant is very small. The tables are very close together. You had better get close and comfy with your neighbor. We ordered so many different kinds of dumplings. The one that was probably the most fun was the one that had different colored noodle wrappers. The staff were friendly, although it was difficult to get their attention most times. The restaurant was very busy and they constantly had a waiting list. My little one loved the fact that you could walk up to a window at the back of the restaurant and watch the workers assembling the dumplings. That was very cool for them to experience. The price is a bit elevated, but not as much as anything like Din Tai Fung. Pricewise, things were pretty much the same as they are at home in LA. I don't know how long this restaurant has been here, but I have a feeling it is pretty successful. I got really lucky and was able to find street parking but one thing that I noticed is that there is a bus stop right in front of the restaurant. That was pretty cool. There's a lot of space in areas to walk around. The restaurant is in a pretty cool and eclectic neighborhood.
I came for dinner and was seated right away. I ordered via the QR code and it was very easy. The cucumber salad was incredible- fresh and so flavorful. I also ordered the rainbow dumplings- the only ones I didn't like were the green (the waitress said it was garlic chives) but all the others were amazing! The soup dumplings weren't my fav either but overall I would def go back.
Really like this place! We ordered a few things through uber eats and everything arrived still hot and fresh. The crystal shrimp dumplings were awesome. The shu mai were very good too and loved the cucumber salad. Only thing we probably wouldn't get again was the veggie steamed bun - it was supposed to have a mushroom filling but turned out to me mostly cabbage and chopped little noodles (I think). It's a really good go to for a quick dumpling order.
10/10 would recommend this place for a cute little date night. We're always in this area but we rarely just walk around and after a little cafe date with my Fiancé, we were looking for a place to eat and this came up near by. It was a Monday evening so parking wasn't as hard to find and we parked about a block down. If you do come on a weekend and have trouble finding parking you can always park at the lot where the old RiteAid is, you just have to pay a little more. This restaurant has been here for a while but it was our first time dining in and we were pleasantly surprised. There's nothing super fancy about the place but I kind of like that because I never quite paired dumplings and fine dining together. When I think of dumplings I think of a warm cozy meal in comfortable clothes, so I like that this place doesn't require you to be all dressed up. It's very casual but clean. The service is great, they're very kind here and attentive. We ordered the Mapo tofu, Dandan noodles, Pork Xia Long Bao which is the soup dumplings, and Spicy wontons. The Mapo tofu was steaming hot and full of flavor, the tingling and numbing sensation from the Szechuan peppers is my favorite because it lets me eat more spicy food haha. The Dandan noodles were really savory and had a rich peanut butter taste but they didn't over do it. The Pork Xia Long Bao's were great, they had a good amount of soup in them and there was a slight sweetness to it which I wasn't used to but didn't mind. The spicy wontons were our favorite because it was so full of flavor and actually a bit creamy. Over all a great place to get dumplings that aren't over priced. We loved it and will definitely be coming back.

Dumplings N More a Chinese restaurant in Hillcrest located on Fifth Street only offers indoor seating and parking is a challenge but I suggest the pay to park at the lot where now closed RiteAid is. Fifth Street in Hillcrest has lots of eateries, many I simply have avoided because of the Lack of Curve appeal. There's a bus stop outside, the sidewalk needs to be power washed and the area in general tends to attract homeless and/or trouble makers. A few weeks ago, after visiting a the Blue Stocking bookstore, I stopped and peeked inside Dumplings N More restaurant and saw available seating next to the window. I stepped inside and was immersed greeted by the female hostess and she let me choose my seating, the booth by the window with my pup Fendi. This restaurant has been at this location for over a decade. Despite its longevity, the restaurant is not fancy but the interior looked clean, simple with a hospitable staff. Service from the hostess/waitress and server was pleasant, helpful and attentive. She was knowledgeable about the menu items and contents of the dishes. Because this restaurant specializes in dumplings, that's what I ordered along with other foods. I specifically requested 'No Pork' in any dumplings and this restaurant was very accommodating and honored my request. The multi colored dumplings were presented nicely and were very tasty. The steamed shrimp dumplings aka 'Har Gow' are always one of my favorites and these were delish. The garlic green beans were good but not as snappy as I would have liked. The Emerald Tofu soup with tofu and slivers of Napa cabbage was light, flavorful and a perfect starter. Because I had a positive overall dining experience, I would try other menu items in my next visit. Recommend.
Took a group here after the college kids moved in the dorms so the families can get to know each other. It was great for a group because you can scan the menu and put in your order and then easily pay per family. The staff were super nice and accommodating the group. I didn't get a chance to take photos of everything but here are some highlights of what my family ate. - Spices wonton soup with pork - Tofu soup - if you are vegan make sure to ask for water broth because they normally use chicken broth - Hot and sour soup- this one is vegetarian- love that I could have it as I don't eat meat but it was very peppery so it will clear you out - cucumber salad - yummy and refreshing - shrimp dumpling - was a little fishy - Mongolian beef - Chinese cabbage and mushrooms - sooo good!
The variety was incredible, and everything tasted homemade with care. It's the kind of place where you can't help but over-order and you'll be glad you did. Can't wait to come back on our next trip to SD The hot n sour was the best I ever had .

The food was delicious, here are my ratings: 1. Boba, 5/5 - I've never had such a big boba. It is huge!! So worth it. 2. Chicken stir fried noodle, 3.5/5 - it's good but a little salty. Huge! I would share this would someone. 3. Spicy wonton pork, 4/5 - so good! The pork is amazing. Also a big serving. I recommend sharing this. The sauce is interesting but good. 4. The cream cheese wontons, 6/5 - these are too good! I could eat an infinite amount.

The pork and shrimp dumplings are flavorful and juicy, and the pan fried beef buns are mostly tender with a crisp side and fresh dough wrapped around savory beef filling--absolutely delicious. The egg drop soup is light, comforting, and full of flavor. The pork fried rice with spicy pickled vegetables is bold and satisfying. Don't forget to try the cucumber salad and iced green mango tea... it's refreshing and pairs beautifully with the meal. I love Chinese food, and this spot has quickly become my favorite in San Diego. My boyfriend and I randomly had a dim sum craving one night and ended up here! It was super busy since there was a festival happening on the street, but they were absolutely killing it with the speed and quality of service. I was especially impressed by the girls working--they were so attentive and on top of everything! Food was good, portions were generous, and overall such a solid spot. read more

Lazy Sunday, so did delivery from Dumpling's N More! Food was packaged perfectly with the noodles and soup in separate containers. No soggy noodles! I ordered their Braised Beef Noodle Soup and Braised Pork Big Bun. Let's talk about the size of that bun! They aren't kidding when they say big bun! The thing is massive and could have been a meal in of itself! Taking a bite the texture of the bun is so fluffy and light. Inside the pork filing was juicy and flavorful. I'd definitely get this again! Meanwhile the beef noodle soup was so delicious! A deep flavorful broth with a hint of sweetness. The beef was tender and the noodles bouncy! A killer bowl if you ask me! Maybe next time I won't be so lazy so I can eat there instead of delivery. read more
Came here for an early dinner with a friend, and I was happy we did. Our waitress was really sweet- everyone was.. The service here is really great. The ambiance is.. well, nothing fancy, but comfortable. Basic, but clean. We had a booth, so it was comfy. Highly recommend the green tea matcha with boba, half sweet. The beef with broccoli was yummy- I like that they didn't overcook the broccoli. Could've been a bit more beef though. We loved the shrimp and pork dumplings. Don't recommend the sampler dumplings plate as much. I like that they have small/large options for the dumplings so you can sample different ones. read more

This is my new favorite Chinese food and dumpling place. I just left and had to write a review immediately because the Dan Dan noodles were THAT good. The dumplings were juicy and handmade, my fiance watched from our table. But those Dan Dan noodles!! I will be dreaming of them. I'm not sure how I never realized this place existed so close to me until now. I ordered the pork shrimp chive dumplings, boiled and they were delicious. Very plump and meaty. The scallion pancake was also solid. I did delivery so I can't comment on the ambiance but solid dumpling option in Hillcrest. read more

Everything is amazing here, including the service. My husband and I are big lovers of authentic Chinese cuisine and this is some of the best I have ever had. The hot and spicy wontons are hand made and have a delicious pork center and the sauce is amazing. Same goes the green beans tasty and cooked perfectly, crunch my and not soggy. And to top it off their hot and sour soup is some of the best I have ever had since our old place went out of business years ago! I highly highly recommend. read more

*This was for takeout* Wanted to order in some dinner and decided on this restaurant since dumplings sounded good. Again, I would like to note this was delivery. I used uber eats and I paid to be the first delivery (live in North Park). I ordered the following: Spicy wontons- there was no spice to the sauce. It was like a thick peanut buttery odd sauce. I actually washed off the sauce. The wontons themselves had an odd texture to them but the flavor was OK. Soup dumplings - the skin was a bit thick but OK flavor. Pork/shrimp/chive dumplings - these were definitely my favorite. They were big and really flavorful. Hot and sour soup - OK flavor but really thick. If I were to order from here again, I would probably order the shrimp/pork/chive dumplings but the others were not my favorite. Maybe it would be different if I ate there. Sorry that the pics are a bit off but wanted to provide them. read more

Today I had their $13.99 lunch special and it was excellent! It was the lunch special board outside while I was walking dogs that made me think I haven't had Chinese food in a long time. I remember I went when they first opened for dumplings and they were just okay. Be careful of their front door because it is super heavy and it closed on the back of my healing hurt me and I remember that from the last time I went as well they really need to get that fixed before somebody gets really badly injured. It definitely hurt like hell and I have a bruise there now. Anyway back to the lunch special... I got the walnut shrimp with fried rice you have a choice of fried or steamed and then you can choose soup or veggies chose the veggies but I thought it was going to be veggie soup so I was a little bit confused when I looked in my container and it was broccoli I'm like oh I love broccoli so that was fine. I basically she pointed out that there was a spicy sour soup and then the veggie and I thought it was veggie soup so that was my bad. So I never write a review that fast unless I'm really impressed and that was the tastiest broccoli I've ever freaking had and it just looked like steamed broccoli! It had a sauce on it and it was so good I ate all my broccoli first. In fact it was so good my dog who hates veggies ate some broccoli. The walnut shrimp was really good and crunchy as well. The fried rice was typical fried rice nothing special but Lee was more impressed with the place the second time around with the lunch. I might go back and retry the dumplings maybe it was an off day on that first visit of mine. I've had excellent service both times. read more

This place is perfect for generous portions of food! The bowls of soup were good, the milk tea was GIANT, and we both took home enough stir fry noodles to have another full dinner the next night. Here are my ratings for the stuff we got in regards to food quality and flavor: Milk tea: standard 6/10 Egg and Shrimp dumplings: 5/10 the egg had an interesting texture Beef pan fried wontons: 8/10 best thing on the menu Chicken stir fry noodles: 7/10 a little salty but flavorful Egg Drop soup: 7/10 standard The service was really fast and folks were sweet. There's a QR code ordering service so you don't have to flag someone down to actually order something. If you ever just want good hearty Chinese, this is the place to be; the vibes are very home style as well! read more

Went here for dinner and the food was really good. I was traveling with my family, my dad really love the house made chili and my favorite was the beef noodle soup and the dan dan noodle. Service went by fast and staff was friendly. Ambiance is nicely decorated as well. read more
There's always a first try, a first taste of new food. Here, at Dumplings N More is where I tasted Spicy Wonton for the first time. The chewy fresh dough, the well seasoned filling and then, the heat of the sauce, so delicious. A satisfying cheat to what would have been the boring meal I had planned, and now I have to stay off the avenue. If I drive past this cute restaurant, I will stop, I will order again and again. Oh, but the Smashed Cucumbers are the right complement to the wontons. Loaded with garlic, the cool bite size cucumbers are a delight. Street parking, bus, bicycle. Sorry, we don’t have gluten free option for the dumplings and noodles, but we do have some rice dishes and hot dishes which are gluten free. :)

Weekdays lunch time 12:00-3:30pm are normally pretty slow. :)
Is the Wow from the spice?
I like to think that part of it, yes! The sauce that they give with the dumplings is specially made in-house and it's definitely got a nice and spicy kick to it.
