The first time I went to Duncan's, I asked them to perform a complete tune up on my 2002 Toyota Tundra. There was also a "low windshield washer" indicator. The charge for the tune up was $800. When I asked what was done, I was told by Victor that they changed the spark plugs. Victor told me that there really isn't anything else to do on that model for a tune up. I questioned the $800 charge and was told that was the standard cost for a tune up. I started my car and noticed that the windshield washer light was still on, and the reservoir was empty. Last month, I took my Toyota 4Runner in for a complete brake replacement, they replaced only the front brakes and flushed the system for a price of $1100. The rear brakes were only inspected. I went to my sister in law's house, who has a steep driveway, set the parking brake, nothing. I don't normally use my parking brake, but when I did, there was no brake. I had to make another appointment, and return for an adjustment. They of course did it for no charge. When I asked why that was missed, I was told by Chuck, that the technician was not there, so the question could not be answered. Although Duncan's Automotive is conveniently located, they have lost me as a customer. I cannot trust the safety of my family to a vehicle serviced by a company that does not follow through. They showed a complete lack of commitment to the very function of their purpose. I will not be returning to Duncan Automotive. And If you don't like being overcharged for substandard service, you should avoid them as well. read more

Have now used them 3 times, I forget what first item was for it was a few years ago. However I just bought a used car sadly dealership was less than honest and had some exhaust issues. Duncan's got me in fairly quick and repairs done fairly quick as well on both trips(sadly this used car has been a curse 1 $2k repair which the dealership should have known about and didnt disclose then another $600 repair which there was no code history about so I cant put on the dealer, but Duncan's was fair and quick with both repairs. read more

it's easy to leave a good review when both company and customer had an easy breezy experience from start to finish. What's not easy is leaving a 5 star review after you had a few speed bumps along the way. With that said I had recently bought a used truck which had a heavy oil leak. Brought it to Duncan's thinking it was one thing but ended up being a few others. Not a big deal as this should be expected when going into an oil leak blindly. After repairs were made, I picked my truck up and a few days later began to notice more oil leaking. Called Duncan's and with no hesitation told me to bring my car back and they would take another look. Found out there was another leak. Let me add before I go too far, they did a great job with communication and showing me photos of the work along the way ( very helpful as I like to know what's going on and why ). from there agreed to fix the remaining issue and they did. few days later I noticed it was leaking again ( but much less ). called back and again invited me back to help with the problem. This last go around it was something small and they fixed it with no charge. I am happy to say since that time my truck is oil tight, and I know the work performed was thorough and correct. I worked with a few different folks there during this process so wanted to highlight Chris, Chuck, victor and a few of the gals who I spoke with. My car broke down and I had to get AAA to tow my vehicle and on a Saturday at 5pm this was the only Place that was open that late. AAA took 4 hours for a tow so they were closed by the time my car was dropped off. However, victor assured me that he would give me a call Monday to touch base with me and give me a timeline. Which he followed through with. They were fast and efficient with repairs on my car with a last minute drop off. They were even able to preform a tune up for me on the fly. The whole team is above par when it comes to providing top notch repair service. Brittany and Chuck work the front desk but are also very knowledgeable and friendly. No one is condescending even if you know zero about cars and repairs. I brought my car in for a check engine light that threw out several codes that possibly could've been multiple things. Instead of charging for all kinds of endless parts and repairs like some shops (ahem Firestone), Duncan's team worked hard to research and contact other resources to learn as much as they could about my car's symptoms. When the team got to the shop at 6am to research and make calls to be ready for my 8am appointment in addition to researching all that week to narrow down the possible issues, I was blown away. To make things better, because of their hard work and determination they found the real cause of the check engine issue, promptly repaired it, completed a smog on the spot for me (so I didn't have to make another trip), and got me back on the road. Breaking down and ending up at a mechanic you don't even know has to be one of the worst things to happen to a woman that knows nothing about cars. All kinds of questions start racing through your mind and immediately the amount of cash you have just seems like nothing compared to what you feel they are going to charge you. You are afraid of getting ripped off. You are afraid of ending up at a place with one thing broken only to have them trying to make a dollar out of 15 cents worth of work. So frazzled, confused and nervous I ended up at Duncan's as per AAA recommendation when I called for the tow truck. I arrived and immediately a gentleman named Jon greeted me and it was really weird but I instantly felt at ease. I started joking with this man, telling him that I didn't want to get ripped off, that if it could be duct taped not to go ahead and charge for something that didn't need to be done, blah, blah, blah. I was carrying on. He was cracking up. He offered me a ride to the car rental place, called them for me and had the young woman behind the counter (I believe her name was Brittany) take my information so that they could get started on the vehicle. As I am still in the shop I looked them up here and my heart dropped when I saw the ratings. I figured I was already there, I was tired, I had my son with me and I just wanted the car to be fixed so I hoped for the best. Water pump, fan clutch, thermostat, and coolant expansion tank. I can honestly say that I felt I was charged a very fair price for the make and model of my vehicle. Prior to doing any of that work a woman named Jennifer called me and explained what I needed immediately (coolant expansion tank) and what could wait but that I should keep an eye out because the repairs needed to be done sooner or later. I was quoted, I did research and their price was fair. It's definitely not cheap to get work done anywhere but I didn't feel ripped off and I am very happy about that. I also got a 10% discount because of my AAA membership. When I went to pick up my vehicle a guy named Andrew stepped out and sat with me to explain everything that had been done to the car, showed me the old parts and went over every single code that came up when the vehicle was "diagnosed". I was super impressed. I couldn't believe this guy was taking the time to explain all this so patiently. I was a little lost at times (alright a lot lost) but they wrote it all down for me so I can at least research it. Their customer service is supreme, their work is great and the price is fair. I am very happy to give Duncan's Automotive 5 stars. Oh and the guy I was babbling to and cracking jokes about getting ripped off (Jon)... I found out later, was the owner. Cruising along I-80 the other day, it happened...that most dreaded sight on your dashboard (duh-DUH-DUHHHH) the check engine light came on. Oh that helpless feeling of knowing that you are about to part ways with hundreds of your hard-earned dollars. As you ponder who you could have possibly wronged to bring about this horrible twist of fate, the question of who to trust with the repair ordeal comes into play. I purchased my used car from Jon Duncan, the owner of this shop, about a year earlier. Felt like I got a fair price for a vehicle that up until this point, I didn't have any significant issues with. Jennifer called the next morning to let me know that the diagnostic had shown that the timing belt and water pump were going to need to be replaced at a cost of $1200. At this point, I'd had all night to worry, anticipate best and worst-case scenarios, struggle with doubt that I'd taken it to the wrong place after reading the previous Yelp reviews and just generally get worked up over the situation. Kudos to Jennifer for being calm, explaining why these things needed to be done and not pressuring me to decide right away. I took a couple of hours to do some research on the Internet and eventually came to the conclusion that with the amount of miles on my car (94,000), the repairs were legit and the price was comparable to what other shops would charge, plus they were giving me 10% off on the labor after I mentioned a coupon on their website. Almost three weeks later, I'm oh so happy to report that the car seems to be running fine. Messed up my dash,left tools under the hood that flew off going down the road right before the car they repaired broke down again!! They get away with it because Automotive repair is the most complained about business. Called Curtis at Channel 13 and he even stated that their is nothing he can do!! Worst Experience at a Mechanical shop to date. In the past, I have worked many years owning my own mechanics shop and wanted to give business to the community. Spoke to Gary on the phone, seems like a nice guy and promises the world. When arriving to the shop, I waited to be served. Not an issue. I bought a new (Used) Luxury exotic car and before my insurance company could insure it, a licensed mechanic needs to confirm that the car has no visible damage, check engine light is not on, no noises, etc. Gary did not price me a quote, but he did mention that he would need to take apart the interior to make sure all the airbags are in place, My initial though was wow, My car will be taken apart and put together by people that deal with old american cars, and also wow this will cost me an arm and a leg if you put all the labor hours together... This car has over 12 airbags. I went down the street, $25 for a simple inspection, signed and verified. I told them the story from this shop, and they were not surprised of how I was treated. Over 1800 dollars later the car was still broken. They tried several times. the dealer fixed it the very first try. They refused to refund my money. My 99 Subaru failed smog so I had Duncan do an analysis at a cost of $250. Diagnosis - two new catalytic converters at a cost of $2100.00, two new O2 sensors which they said were oil soaked ( they were not, I personally checked them), Oil soaked and fouling ignition wires (which were not), dirty air cleaner ( which I replaced less than 6 months earlier), a leaking radiator which they recommended be replaced. total estimate... $4000.00. By contrast, Autocraft diagnosed the whole problem of smog failure to a fuel air ratio sensor. Total cost including diagnosis, new sensor and a pre-test which showed the cr passed with flying colors, $381. Conclusion Duncan Automotive is in the business of taking advantage of its customers to enhance it's bottom line. Recommendation STAY AWAY FROM DUNCAN AUTOMOTIVE!!!!! read more
