Over 20 years later, I still visit when I'm back in town from San Diego -- not just for the sentiment, but for for their Cinnamon Sticks. We do not have Honeydew Donuts in San Diego, nor do we have anything remotely close to a Cinnamon Stick, which is a 480-calorie flaky yet sturdy pastry twirled around a delicious (but not dominant) cinnamon paste, then glazed with a sugary frosting. The frosting caramelizes during the baking process to form a sweet crust around the pastry. I have lived in many places, visited many countries, and there is not a better morning pastry to be had. Everyone in New England should be thankful for having easy access to Cinnamon Sticks across a myriad of Honeydew locations. I've had cronuts, and I still much prefer the Cinnamon Stick. Like a Krispy Kreme donut, it is best to have a Cinnamon Stick when they're hot and fresh from the oven. This is a rare and unannounced occasion, but if you go to a Honeydew Donuts location often enough, this magical moment is bound to happen to you. I'm not an avid coffee drinker, but I will say Honeydew's coffee is more comparable to the mild flavor of Dunkin' Donuts than the more aggressive and bitter Starbuck's kind of coffee. There is absolutely nothing fancy about this chain, and some of the stores in the chain suck entirely (they may smell weird, or have undisciplined/unclean staff -- i.e. the abysmal Norwood, MA location) -- but this location has always been consistent, staffed well, managed well, and very clean.

The product remained of quality but the atmosphere definitely changed to a more pay and leave establishment versus pull up a chair and stay awhile. I missed that until I started frequenting the location in Somerset. While the decor is still standard, the staff always make you feel welcome and are very friendly. They never rush you out and make exactly what you order. I went today and I was undecided as to what I wanted. I wanted something frozen but I cannot have sugar or regular milk so that is a challenge. The barista, who was the manager, was more than happy to make me something custom that she created. I had an almost sugar free vanilla & strawberry frozen drink with unsweetened oat milk. The strawberries had a small amount of sugar within my allowable grams. It was exactly what I wanted and I thought it was super kind of her to go above and beyond to make me something not on the menu. I think the staff makes this location. Many times I have seen them be kind, dedicated and fun! My drinks are always exactly what I expect. If it's hot coffee, then it's hot! If it's a cold beverage it's just as good. This is why I continue to go back, meeting with friends or stopping before and after appointments for a beverage.
