Instead of politely saying something like, "Please keep the door shut," or "We'd appreciate it if the door remained closed," she immediately asked, "Did someone tell you to prop that door open?" The wording and delivery came across as unnecessarily hostile and unwelcoming. It instantly made us feel uncomfortable, and the tension in the store seemed noticeable to others as well. We came in genuinely excited to support a local business, but between the condition of the shop and the way we were treated, we decided not to stay. First impressions matter, and unfortunately this was one of the most unpleasant customer service experiences we've had. My other daughter ordered the Baja breakfast burrito with salsa on the side, but the salsa was put directly on the burrito.
