The more recently Luke's Donuts is under new ownership and they have reshaped the donuts to a more reasonable size, not eye popping like old, but served with pride and a huge smile. With open armed service and warm greeting how could one complain. Every time I drive by my taste buds start an argument with my better judgement. Tastebuds generally win. Their bakery is amazing -with wonderful looking breads, rolls, pastries, cupcakes, pies, Danish, cookies, donuts and specialized goodies in every shape, color, and description under the sun. Today, we picked up a gorgeous loaf of marble rye bread, six of their famous handmade donuts, and three Danish. I had a glazed donut this afternoon and it was light, sweet and pretty much fantastic. Can't wait to check out the rest of our purchase.

I still remember the first time here when they told me about that and I took advantage of it and bought more than I originally planned on getting. I'm a Boston Cream lover and my goodness, they know how to make a Boston Cream! They slice the entire donut in half and slab on a generous portion of bavarian cream, which is not overwhelmingly sweet at all, which balances the sweetness of the chocolate frosting. I was not able to finish a whole donut in one sitting and saved the other half for lunch time. We were so lucky to be surprised with this goodness as it is almost an hour away from where we work. So being in the area, decided to come here and pick up some donuts for the ride home. We got here late in the day, and they were out of almost everything when I got there. I managed to get a churro and matcha donut. I then saw they did a Dubai chocolate strawberry cup, and had to give that a try as well ( they only do the cup on the weekends) The donuts were very fresh, light and chewy. They are high in price but much better in quality compared to other places I've tried. The Dubai strawberry cup had a kind of weak chocolate sauce over them. Not the cheapest stuff on the market, but not strong or mellow like the expensive chocolates. The strawberries were fresh, and the Dubai part needed a little salt to counteract the sweet and enhance the earthy. Inside is well decorated but dirty. All the tables were dirty, there's lots of dust and other ditritus when I was waiting for my dessert. It was end of day, so I get why they would not be fully clean. But there's some repairs that need to get done and there's cracks in the facade. Despite the lack of donuts, the quality was good and the Dubai strawberries were a nice sweet treat. Aside from the pastries I ordered a mango fruit tea with passion fruit popping boba and I was a bit underwhelmed. The flavor of the fruit tea is lacking a bit but I feel my taste buds were a bit altered after so many sweet treats. I had just seen Donut Dip pop up in an online article as the best donut place in Massachusetts and so I had to stop. Donut Dip is an old school donut shop, a large selection of a wide variety of flavors are on display. The short line moved quickly and I ordered an Apple Fritter and a Chocolate topped custard stick for the road. The price was a bit higher than I expected but the donuts were big and looked great and I wanted some food for the road so I didn't have to stop. The Apple Fritter was good, however it seemed to be a bit light on actual apple piece and while tasty it just wasn't anything special. The Custard stick was excellent, the custard was rich and luscious which nicely balanced the perfectly fried donut, the topping was thick and chocolaty giving the donut an old school feel. Although I didn't have a long visit I would say that overall Donut Dip has very good to great donuts. The shop feels classic and if I was nearby I would love to try some of the other flavors. Well worth a stop to check them out.
