I feel like this is a trend in DC but this is 100% the worst Dunkin, and might be the worst restaurant experience I have had. Maybe just get a new staff. Location is a food court so not much to say about the ambience, and they somehow even made that worse. The employees clearly did not want to speak with us. I asked about a donut and he told me he did not know. So I just ordered a generic one. He put it in the bag threw it on the counter without saying anything. I could not tell if he just was trying to give it to me for free or what. After about 10 awkward seconds he reluctantly started ringing me up. Never said a word. Poor customer engagement and service it seems to be a manager and associate on site. But they were not friendly or professional. Did not know how to engage in a positive manner. They acted as if they weren't at work but on their personal time chatting about inappropriate things. Sometimes a man needs a cup of coffee. Also a cruller. This small Dunkin at Union Station works for that. I like how convenient it is to Amtrak and VRE. There aren't many seats, but what they have works. For the most part it is grab and go. Prices have gone up, but other chains have done the same. On a positive note they are New England's greatest export and contribution to society. Their Boston Crème's and coconuts are delicious. Also the coffee gives you an eye opening flavorful experience. I am partial to the chain. Service here is quite good, despite the traffic volume. I've found employees friendly and efficient. For my purposes, that's exactly what is desired as starting a day here, will have you moving in no time! read more

The only reason this location has more than one star was the frankness & friendliness of the gentleman behind the counter. The offeringhs were sparse and more than a few people left without purchasing anything. Dunkin' Donuts in the hood! A franchise can't make too many mistakes, can it? Yes. This is a warning to anyone wanting a pop up business franchise and expecting it to draw in customers based on the name. Thank God for Yelp, because it has protected many a customer from wasting many dollar bills on false advertising. When you spend the amount of money that they charge in this station or DC area, you had better get your money's worth. Either they are not paying enough to keep decent employees or they are not training employees what people want in their service and food. The results are always marginal if not inedible here. Service is comparable to a kids lemonade stand where they are mixing this and that, taking money, talking and who knows what with your food. I can't only think that the owners do not live around here or own too many businesses to know what is happening in this store. They obviously do not give a crap. The franchise ought to inspect each location to ensure it's meeting it's image. They would freak out if they ever came here. As anywhere else, the homeless camp right next to the counter like pigeons, I wouldn't be surprised if employees threw a donut or donut holes over the rope when the lines diminish. I noticed that they hide the napkins behind the sign at the pick up counter. The worst feeling is when the order is taken by someone that does not know their products, what they have in stock, how to make a drink to spec, or does not understand English to even get the order correct. Do not own a chain. Just do not lure people in and give them what they do not want. Hire people that actually drink the product and know what it should taste like. Cover the food, especially when it sits in the open right next to the metro escalator throughway. To the customer: Buy your donuts in the morning when the delivery arrives and before their workers ( I'll call her Carrie) start picking at them. Order something simple or go to Chick fil or McDonald's down the opposite end for iced coffee or breakfast that is comparable. So far so good. Glad Dunkys finally decided to open a location in Union Station. It's on the lower level in the food court near the Metro entrance. I went at about 7:45 pm so it wasn't busy at all. The server was friendly and they had unsweet iced tea available. This is a blessing at this time of night, even more so since it is the middle of January. There are lots of little tables in front of the eatery and there are more scattered throughout the food court and upstairs if you don't want to stay here. The food court is usually jammed during rush hours and is busy during the day so it will be worth an updated review after I come back during one of those times. read more

We got sandwiches before our long train ride and found shards of plastic (?) or something in them...and we can't take them back because we are on a moving train. Pretty bummed out. How does this happen? We went there in the interest of being fast, but when we walked by all the other food upstairs it seemed like there would have been a lot of other options that would have worked and been better. This place is only three stars out of convenience. At the times I go, there aren't many customers (mid day). There are flys flying around, it doesnt not appear to be the cleanest location but then again compared to everything else in union station with the exception of shake shack and roti all of the restaurants appear to be not the cleanest. Prices are about 20% higher than other locations but, its union station so again its understandable. Service isn't super attentive or welcoming but "union station." My drinks normally taste good, there was one time it tasted odd and I threw it out (iced macchiato) is what I always order. I'm on the fence about this location. Starbucks cost even more and I like DD taste better but Starbucks is cleaner and closer to the door I enter union station. It's a case by case basis for me if I'll continue to shop this location. read more

It was with great anticipation that I awaited the opening of this DD. As my daily commute takes me by here twice, I was so excited to get my DD fix. Well, sometimes good things do not come to those who wait. I understood the lines and long wait time when this first opened. I continued to patronize the place although the coffee did not quite taste the same and definitely cost a tad more than other DDs. Then the service did not seem quite as good. So, I stopped going until today. Surprisingly, the long lines seem to be gone. I ordered and waited, and waited, and waited...long after customers who bought drinks and/or food had come and gone. When I inquired about the wait, I was offered a large drink--I didn't order a large nor do I NEED a large latte. I think all the signs are telling me...go to another DD. I shall listen. read more

What a disappointment. After the other donut shop (in basically the same location) closed down, I was glad to have a replacement place where I could pick up office treats on my way in. Before this morning, I'd tried this location twice before, with no luck, but had hoped third time would be a charm. Alas. Understandably, the line was pretty long, since it was rush hour, but just like grocery stores on the weekend - only one cashier even though there are two registers and the line is wrapping around tables in the food court. I had some new music on my phone, and jammed happily along until it was my turn to order. I get to the register, place my order for 2 dozen donuts, and present my credit union chip card for payment. "Declined!" barks the cashier. Puzzled, but thinking "maybe my CU is not used to junk food purchases and thinks this is fraud," I hand her a different bank Visa card. "Declined too, ma'am. It's over the voice limit." Say wha? When I asked what a voice limit was, she had no answer. Needless to say, at this point the tourists and commuters behind me are already seeming antsy. I present an AmEx card. Swiped. "Sorry, ma'am. This was declined too." At this point, it occurs to her: "Oh yeah, this register has been going on and offline." So she calls the manager. Who then says "Hmm this register hasn't been handling over $20 purchases well, do it as two separate transactions." And what do you know, the purchases went through. I was so happy that Dunkin Donuts arrived in Union Station. I didn't give it a full five star because the service at this location needs work. They try to be efficient in providing fast service, but fail at it. Also, my order is not to satisfaction. I go regularly because I like Dunkin Donuts coffee, but am seriously thinking in stopping since I don't get my coffee correct. It's on the receipt and I still get a different coffee taste. My stomach is turning, twisted and been upset since this experience with union station dunkin donuts. I have never been so disappointed in my life with a donut and bagel. My dozen of donuts had a ROACH....YES A ROACH hidden under a blueberry donut. When I went to pick up the donut, it came crawling from underneath it! HOW GROSS! I have no idea how many stars to give this place. It's either 5 stars for merely existing on the way from the metro to my office, or 0 stars for the long lines and really spotty service. The service is pretty much always awful. But they try. And they're nice. Just super slow and not always... accurate. I order the same simple coffee order every time I go (medium hot coffee, skim milk and one splenda) and it tastes different every time. Not sure if they're giving me someone else's drink or just making whatever they feel like making at the time (but guessing is part of the fun!). I never order the donuts but it's entertaining to see that the labels never match the actual donuts in the trays. If you need a few extra minutes to check your email on your phone before heading into the office, you can surely find that time while waiting at the order pick up area, surrounded by people who are either asking where their drinks are or asking for their incorrect drink orders to be corrected. It's also entertaining to see all of the people who order their drinks in advance with the app and then arrive, only to discover that their drinks are not ready. But the employees are nice and it looks like they're really trying... sometimes! What can I say, I'm a glutton for punishment. read more

Slow, indifferent service. The union station location usually has only 3 employees working who are super casual in taking and filling your order. My last two orders took almost 15 minutes to fill and I was ordering a decaf coffee with cream and syrup. A decaf coffee should not take 15 minutes to make. I prefer Dunkin Donuts coffee but try to get my coffee from other locations whenever possible. Employee retraining is definitely needed! read more

I love dunkin and I work next door so its super easy to get to but its by far the worst dunkin ever. You will wait on coffee for 30 mins some days. Today the lady didn't even know the different types of donuts and there are 4 different types. It shouldn't be that hard. Then I got a ice coffee apparently was just as difficult of an order for this staff. I ask for cream and sugar like I do at every dunkin I have ever been to. Then I get a very bitter coffee. I asked Michael (the dunkin employee who made my coffee) because I assumed he gave me the wrong one and he explained to me that I don't know how to order coffee. At 7am the "employee " said they don't make sandwiches at that time of day even though they had a marquee showing the "all day" sandwiches!!
