HALF of the morning hash and toast! Yummmmahhh!
    Tahja P.

Fast but not always so friendly service. The food is good though so even though they're rude at times, I keep going back! Not a glutton for punishment but I know I can take the bad with the good! I usually just chalk the demeanor of the folks behind the counter up to the fact that it is an INSANELY fast paced environment!! Surrounded by government buildings, there is never really a time that you go in and there isn't a crowd! The portions are huge and ingredients are fresh! Their salads are the best! The morning hash is my favorite! It is a protein powerhouse! Think omelette on steroids!! Don't expect to eat this and then have lunch as well! Eggs, bacon, cheese, green peppers, onions, potatoes, tomatoes and spinach w/ a side of toast (bread if your choice). STUFFED and STUFFED! I've been a patron for 8 years and will continue to be as long as they're around!!

I forgot my lunch and had been hearing a lot about Phillips, so decided to take the walk. The line was actually less long than expected and told so I was excited about that and the food looks very fresh. I decided to get a turkey club added, bacon and dressed up how I wanted to with a side of kettle chips and a brookie. To my surprise, this was totaled to about $20. The price is outrageous, I probably won't be returning, unless I am treated or forget my lunch again and reach starvation however, it was a pretty good sandwich. I will give them that. The brookie was OK as well. - I'm glad I had my bottled water at my desk lol

This sandwich shop is right across the street from my customer so I stopped here daily for lunch! It's a sandwich shop that is super efficient. You order they make it, you grab your drink and chips and pay at the other side. First day I had the chicken Cesar wrap! Wow so good, the chicken is so tender and flavorful. Second day I had a turkey sandwich, and it's fresh cut turkey! On toasted sourdough bread, yummy!! Had a ice coffee with it and everything was great! Fast and delicious lunch.

Phillip is a good spot for breakfast and lunch. The food is made fresh (they actually use real eggs and not the liquid that most places use) and it's pretty good. I usually get the turkey sandwich/wrap and the first time I got it I was shocked that they were actually carving from a an actual turkey breast and not have prepackaged lunch meat. I haven't had the chance to try any other sandwich (the turkey sandwich is that good!) but the ones I see getting prepared looks good lol. They also have oatmeal raisin cookies that are delicious (not sure if it's made in house or are shipped). I can't see anyone being disappointed when coming here, there are several options to choose from (for both breakfast and lunch).

Chicken Noodle Soup and Cobb Salad! Both pretty good!
    Flora L.

Came here for lunch during break! I ordered Cobb salad. It was very fresh! Compared to Chopt in Union Station, the portion was small but I still couldn't finish the whole salad for lunch. So it was pretty big, just not compared to Chopt. The owner lady gave me a free small Chicken Noodle soup because I spoke Korean with her :) The chicken noodle soup had lots of vegetables and chicken. Pros: -Fast and friendly service -Various menu items from salads to sandwiches -Price (everything is under $10) -Fresh ingredients -Pretty salad decorations -Location (near Union Station and NoMA) -Clean and modern looking interior with fairly good amount of tables -Has patio (outside seating!) Cons: -It's not a big deal but it would've been nicer if the salad was chopped more. The leaves were pretty big. I will definitely come here often! Overall, food and atmosphere wise, I recommend this place.

I always walk pass this place but never went inside. That changed today! What a pleasant experienced I had. Know what you want before you walk up to the counter. I visited during lunch time-the busiest of all times. And although the line was long, it was continuously moving due to customers knowing what they wanted. Definitely will come back to try out other items.

I have had some of their breakfast sandwiches here and all were delicious. Today I had the Breakfast Burrito with potatoes, green peppers, scrambled eggs, onions, salsa and breakfast sausage. I have also have the Breakfast sandwich with sourdough bread, scrambled eggs, spinach, breakfast sausage. Their Cafe Mocha coffee is also good.

This place is now my favorite food spot around my job. I went on the suggestion of a coworker and I'm glad I did. I went around noon and it was busy. The staff got the line down quickly and were efficient in getting orders taken and getting them cooked. They service fresh baked bread and the meat like the carved turkey and roast beef are made in house. They also have fresh salads and even serve breakfast. The staff are friendly and the place is clean. I got the steak and cheese with mushrooms, green peppers, Swiss cheese and lettuce and mayo. The sandwich is one of the best steak and cheese I have ever had. All the times were fresh and cooked onsite. I will definitely be a regular.

Here's the latest and greatest vendor list from 2023: Timber Pizza - Scrumptious wood-fired pizza with a pillowy soft crust. I can't count on how many fingers and toes I've had the pizza at different farmer's markets! While the lines can get long 12:30pm, you only have to wait for 15 minutes. Taco Dirty To Me: Crispy battered cauliflower tempura tacos, bursting with flavor! Bun'd' Up - Delicious fried tofu and mushroom in squishy soft bao buns topped with microgreens, scallions, and a nice creamy aioli sauce. Light and tasty! Urban+ade - Refreshing lemonade with less sugar than classic lemonade. The Sage & Tarragon is my favorite! Veg Heaven - Decadent sweet treats, the dark chocolate cookies and brownies are the best! While the cakes are moist, they aren't as tasty. Taco Loco - Giant burritos are amazing! There's a swarm of people waiting in line, so be prepared to wait 10-15 min before ordering and then another 5 min for your order! The mango and watermelon juice are refreshing. Hipp Sippin' - Cold-pressed juices and acai bowls made to order. Ravenhook Bakery - Great selection of freshly baked loaves of bread and baked goods. DMV Empanadas - They sell out fast! While the empanadas has a nice crispy hard shell and with so many flavors to choose from, they are a bit bland and overloaded with bland cheese. The Spinach and Cheese or the Bacon and Cheese didn't quite hit the spot, hubby like the Chicken. Al Volo Cucina: While I wasn't a big fan of the greasy eggplant parm subs. I wish they brought back the fresh juices (the watermelon and mango juices) were amazing! Wonderful market with plenty of delicious and diverse options to choose from. There is metered street parking and commercial lots/garages within a reasonable walking distance from here. They serve wraps, salads, and cold and hot sandwiches. I ordered the Korean Steak Sandwich. It took them about 10 to 15 minutes to prepare my sandwich. They should use a number system for order pickups because people, including myself, had difficulty determining which order they were serving. Many of the sandwich names sounded alike. My sandwich was kind of small for the price, and it wasn't very filling. It was, however, very good. It was flavorful and packed with flavor. The service was ok. It was nothing special. They did their job and did not go beyond or be overly friendly. All in all, I would recommend checking this deli out for some really good sandwiches. Thankfully we ended up at the Unconventional Diner and it was perfect for satisfying everyone in the group!! We were all able to get tasty drinks- from n/a Hibiscus Citrus lemonade, white wine, a cinnamon toast old fashioned (what? A cereal inspired old fashioned, yes please and it was fantastic!), and a Bourbon basil smash. Then the crew settled on some food-the waiter was patient with the questions and contemplation from the table (thank you!). We started with the SKILLET CORNBREAD with Habanero Honey Butter | Sea Salt (v) And that was melt in your mouth cornbread. Damn. Real cornbread seems hard to come by any more and this is the real deal. And the honey butter and flake sea salt-can't go wrong. I'm a spice weeny-for reals-and this was incredible. It's a MUST get. Across the table we had two of the double cheese burgers (I warned, we have a lack of adventurous eaters) -and they both said the burgers were the best they've had. I had the Philly French double dip, with horseradish cream and caramelized onions-so fantastic-the roast beef was melt in your mouth and the broth was the perfect saltiness. Our fourth got the fried chicken sandwich and really loved the dill pickle slaw that came with it, and the chicken was not over cooked and not raw-perfect! We all had fries with our meals, the thinner kind with light seasoning and none of us could stop eating them, even when we were clearly full, the fries just kept disappearing.

I visited as part of the full experience -- dinner downstairs at Birch & Barley, then up to Churchkey for drinks -- and honestly, it's one of the best evenings I've had in DC. Churchkey itself is everything a great bar should be. The beer selection is absolutely unreal -- hundreds of carefully curated labels spanning every style, region, and flavor profile you can imagine. What sets it apart is that the staff actually knows the menu. Our server walked us through a few options based on what we liked and landed us on perfect picks both times. That kind of genuine expertise is rare. The tavern pizzas from the wood-fired oven were a wonderful surprise -- thin, crispy, and the perfect companion to a cold draft. The smash burger also deserves a mention: simple, well-executed, and hits the spot. The vibe is warm and lively without being overwhelming. Great for a date, a group, or even just sitting at the bar solo with a good beer and good conversation with the bartender. This place has earned its reputation as one of the best beer bars on the East Coast -- and then some. Highly recommend making a full night of it with both floors. You won't regret it.
