It was my first time going to Dunn Edwards and I brought in a small paint chip hoping to get it matched. Carmelo greeted me very politely and let me know it might be too small, but he still took the time to see what he could do. He spent about 10 minutes carefully working on matching the color and also helped me pick up all the essentials I needed for painting. The reason I'm writing this review is because it's not easy these days to find someone with that level of patience and willingness to genuinely help a customer. We are painting our living room, dining room and hallway ... hired a painter now we need paint. So we came to Dunn-Edward's Paints cause we like the quality of the paint. There are so many color options and finished to choose from. The best part is customer service at this location. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Carlos was helping us with questions we had. He took his time to explain the differences about the finishes, the colors and sample bundles. Now that's great customer service right there. Went in yesterday to get some touch up paint and was helped by a gentleman named, Juan Luis Ortiz. Great customer service, to the point he went in the back to check and see if a color was available in a smaller size container. Mr. Ortiz made suggestions that I hadn't thought about for money saving purposes. I must say; Just an over all "Genuinely Nice Guy". I asked how long had he worked for DE and he said one year. Being I've worked in HR and understand the dynamics of great customer service and how rare it is, I asked where did he work before, he mentioned H Depot! That just goes to show you, the bigger companies don't value their knowledge and loyal employees! Hats off to you Dun Edwards for recognizing and hiring the very best! Awful and rude service. Refuses without any valid reason to accept old paint even though I bought it from Dunn Edwards and paid the recycling fee. I see that other customers have had the same problem with this store also. No wonder they have a big sign at their front saying dumping is forbidden. Try and live up to your recycling program and you probably won't have any problems with illegal dumping also. read more

Very good quality of paint. Easy to find this location and the staff was very helpful. They also sell all tools related for your next paint job. Most colors in stock. And if not they can match any color sample. The prices are reasonable and all contractors gets a discount. And if you are not a contractor it doesn't hurt to ask for a discount! Great one-stop paint shop! - The experience of selecting an exterior color, or colors in this case, can be very daunting and over whelming. Even with an idea of what we wanted we were still faced with a wall of paint chips and color choices. It was beginning to be too much to take. Until- along came this bright-eyed, smiling young gal, Keshia who changed everything! She calmly and cheerfully offered to help us which we refused at first, but when it came time to comparing some colors, she not only knew every color by name and number, she knew their location on the wall and what would go with it. In short, had Keshia not been there we may have just left in desperation or just gone with white and called it a day. Keshia Smith is the brightest part of our painting experience and made this stressful experience calm, fun and pleasent . Plus she has a teriffic sense of humor and knows her colors! A fun way to end my shopping day. We ended up getting 4 sample colors and will be coming back to buy the paint for out out 2-story Monterey Colonial home in the Hollywood Knolls area of Los Angeles. The Store is extremely well stocked, clean, quiet and offers a great selection of paint, brushes, tarp, drop cloths, rollers and even painter's caps that look like a trucker's cap ($3.99) and T-shirts ($5.99). Have spent over $1,000 at this location this past week purchasing paint for my new home. Honestly, I rather go buy paint from a cheap, low-quality place then give these people any business. Manager is very rude and makes very offensive comments, then laughs. This is not a show, you have one job and that is to sell paint, no need to be rude. After spending so much money here, he has the audacity to call me cheap cause I came in to purchase 2 quarts instead of 1 gallon, but the price difference was very slim, so I wanted to get a gallon instead. He did not let me change, how ridiculous. He has no right to tell a customer what they can do or not. This location is busy, but their service sucks. They are degrading the name that Dunn Edwards holds. Never returning here or to Dunn Edwards ever again, I work in the real estate industry and my clients value my opinion and I will be recommending them somewhere else from here on end. read more

Update Review 11/22/19 I can't brag enough about this Dunn Edwards team led by Juanluis Ortiz. My customer experience with them is nothing shy of excellent and above. Every order managed by Juan was taken care of diligently and most importantly executed accurately. North Hollywood store; I went spoke to Adriana who told me the base white is the purest white. I told my contractor to get the puree white base white: he asked for pure white; they told him they can not sell me the base white by itself that they must add something and that their purest white is warm white. They sold him 5-5 gallons of semi gloss warm white, and 5 galls high gloss warm white. I called spoke to manager Alex who was rude; he told me the color pallet for dun edwards has changed pure white is warm white and they can not sell us the base white without adding something in it. I called 4 other dun edwards managers who told me that is a lie. They made a mistake; called the store for me spoke to Alex, i called Alex back he said come tomorrow and we will refund you the money, this was on 1/15/21. I get to the store on 1/16/20 Fatima told me that Alex told him everything that he never said he would refund me, that Alex is right the purest white is warm white and that they can not sell me the base white without adding color to it per their rules. I am pregnant started to feel faint and cry. Called Mission Hills store spoke to Michel manger who told me their are lying. Alex would not come near me or look at me he stayed in this office and used Fatima to talk to me. Fatima went back to talk to Alex and came back said the only thing they can do is get the white base; add 10 Y on it that is the purest they can do because they can not sell me the base white. I went to Burbank store spoke to Tony told him the story; he called them they lied to him said i asked for Igloo which I never did, Tony told me I can buy base white; Tony and Debi where amazing they sold me exactly what I wanted; I had to purchase again 5 5 gallons of base white semi gloss, 2 5 gallon high gloss, and 4 primers. Sherman way North Hollywood lied to me and 5 other stores told me they lied to me and called them and they still did not correct their mistakes. Now I have 5 5 gallons of paint semi gloss and 1 5 gallon high gloss I can not use. Alex manager did not want to even come talk to me or look at my face. I love this store. I am just a DIYer, and they have plenty of professional painters coming in all, day, but they have always been courteous and immensely helpful. This is additionally appreciated because of the lack of knowledge I have found at the Big Box stores (you know which ones I mean). I also have to rave about a particular paint they turned me on to. I have been repainting my whole house interior, including trim. My last house was a craftsman from the 20s and the original finishes on the built-ins were gorgeous - the smooth, perfect paint that only seemed possible with the old oils. I wanted the same effect in my new place, but initially it was a struggle. Of course, all paint finishes depend on a well sanded and smooth base surface, but even with that, I was getting huge brush drag marks that I couldn't seem to eliminate despite my best sanding and brushing efforts. I tried all the big box brands, and then came to Dunn Edwards. Ta Da! One of the guys at Dunn Edwards told me about their ARISTOWALL line. Heaven! Just finished painting the baseboards, and with a good fine sand in between coats, they look perfect. I am so proud of myself! (But I know it's the paint!) I used the Aristowall Gloss on a bathroom vanity, once again sanding to a very fine finish between coats, and the cabinet looks like GLASS. Thanks, Dunn Edwards. You have my business! read more

Another coworker told him to call corporate and reactivate it. So they were lying to me. Then thy tell me it's a Saturday corporate is closed u will have to come back on Monday for us to call. So I was trying to figure out the name of a paint I used and was bought at this Dunn-Edwards store 7 years ago for my home exterior. I didn't have the paint can but did have a label bought from a different paint at the same time. Anyway, I thought I'd never be able to find what paint I used but called the store hoping for a miracle. I got my miracle and it was provided by an employee named James Spencer (I think he said he was an assistant manager). In an era where customer service generally sucks, Mr. Spencer went way above and beyond helping me figure out the name of the paint color. I won't go into detail of everything he did, but after a lengthy phone call in which he did a great amount of research, he figured it out. He even stayed past closing time of the store trying to figure it out. I can not thank him enough. Was not looking forward to the idea of using a paint that wouldn't match up to the original color. Now I don't have that problem. This store and the excellent customer service provided by Mr. Spencer has sent me here to write this Yelp review (something I rarely do). What a disappointment! Had my assistant take empty paint cans from our house's previous owners to drop off here since Dunn-Edwards Noho claims to be a safe drop off site for empty cans (this according to paintcare.org). My assistant drove 20 min there and they turn her away saying they don't have the room to take any extra cans. Then, their parking lot was full of nails so my assistant got a flat tire trying to leave to get to the Van Nuys location which they directed her to. So, she was stuck waiting for AAA to come, and we tried getting them to take the cans anyway because she now is not able to drive to other location, and guess what? They refused! They also wouldn't do anything about her flat tire issue because they said it's the responsibility of their property manager, not them. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE and I will NEVER EVER buy this brand again. All empty cans were D-E but I am switching over to Benjamin Moore for good. They are clearly not in the customer service business. read more

We came to this store to buy some paint for our house and wow must I say I cannot believe how easy it was and what a delightful experience we had!! We were helped by Edan Harris of the North Hollywood location and must I also say he did a wonderful job of helping us figure out exactly which paint we wanted and the type of paint you know between velvet and semi-gloss and he made it such an easy decision for us and the store was great it looked great they had a great selection and this being in light of us going to so many other places before and not being helped out properly and not being able to find the right paint. Edan Harris helped us out BIG TIME!! I'm looking forward to coming here again in the future for any painting needs that I might have and hopefully we can see him again because we know he is really super helpful!!
