Then they helped the person with the number after mine and then help me anyway. The guy was pretty, nice the place is pretty, good and I'm pretty happy. I like it here. Horrible customer service and unreliable. We ordered paint samples and had incorrect colors made twice and ended up having to come to back a handful of times. We wanted to darken a color 30 and 50 percent and they lightened them by mistake. Then we went back and got 30, 50 and 70 darker but the 50 was the lightest of them all. I also called in an order and when I came to pick up in the morning as discussed they couldn't find the order for quiet some time. Really inefficient and wasted a lot of our time. Not much to say about a piant store. Good selection, very helpful staff, and has a better atmosphere than other paint stores (sounds weird, but all of those windows give it a much more open feeling). Paints are always top quality but be prepared to pay for that quality. read more

In the past Ive had customer service issues with this store. I was desperate to do a color match from a photo on my phone. I was told by the first employee that its impossible and can't be done. A young woman, Sam, stepped forward and said she would try to assist. She helped select close matches from the charts and I bought 2 samples to try. One was acceptable and I ended up buying 5 gallons. Employers be advised to care for your people that go out of their way to offer good customer service, it pays off. read more

I'm a fan of Dunn-Edwards products, and I wish I wasn't. The customer service...what customer service? First you have to block at least 30 minutes of your life to even get to buy anything and if you have a question block 45! Currently only 1 person at the counter and 5 people waiting getting desperate. Lady gets fed up and starts saying, which I nod in agreeing, "people are waiting here", "Sherwin Williams has no line", "why do you make your customers wait so long". Let me tell you this lady said e dry word I've been thinking every time, EVERY TIME, I have been to Glendale and Pasadena stores. Phones ringing non stop, employees not in control, annoyed customers are the Dunn-Edwards Way. Who manages this business? I don't see it lasting much longer. read more

This is related to their employees, or a specific one. I was driving north on Lake in Pasadena approaching the freeway. A young man driving one of their trucks started to veer into my lane, so I honked my horn, to avoid being hit. He proceeded to pull up next to me at the light, rolled down his window, and started verbally assaulting me, with profanities laced throughout. He had a more mature man with him, who didn't seem to know or care enough to intercede and tell him that it was totally inappropriate. I sent an email to Dunn Edwards, which was ignored. I guess that's why one of the things he said to me was "Go ahead and call the F'ing store." read more

Went around 10:30ish and it was pretty packed on a Tuesday. I had to get a number and requested paint. There was a mistake with my order which got resolved fairly quickly. However, that mistake turned out to be another mistake, which I did not notice until I arrived home. So I had to go back and fix that 2nd mistake (basically I got exterior paint when I wanted interior paint, as said so in my receipt), to which they did not apologize for their mistake. The paint is great but the service is just terrible. They make you pull number and you get helped once you're number is called. There's nothing wrong with that BUT when ppl behind the counter run around the store helping people who's number just got called and have a million questions while the people in line are just waiting to pay and there are only 2 people on the register. the best part is that they don't even know what numbers they called and what number is next. The employees seems confused and lost. It also takes some time for them to make the paint. No sense of urgency either. Come here with the expectation to be here for some time. read more

This place stinks. Had to come for work today otherwise I'd be at benjamin Moore on Rosemead in a second. I had my kids, called in my small order at least 1.5 hours before I came. I've been painting for a while and while there is a SLIGHT difference between brands I've always stayed with the major ones like at Home Depot and Lowe's...now I know why. Doing a job and the lady insisted on Dunn-Edwards, which you have to buy AT Dunn-Edwards. So we got here and it took 20 minutes before we were even acknowledged by an associate then service was slow and rather snooty. now we'e been waiting another 45 minutes for a simple 1 gallon of paint to be mixed. And there's really nobody else in the store. So it has now taken over an hour to get a gallon of paint and we already knew exactly what color code and finish when we got here. I will NOT use these guys again. I've lost almost $40 in wages sitting here waiting. read more

I cannot say enough about Jose. He was so busy and yet so polite and efficient with helping us. We had a lot of old paint that we needed to be disposed of properly. There is a government website that lists the stores that would take old paint. Everytime I called one of those approved stores in Pasadena, they always said their bins were full. Not only was Jose helpful and cooperative on the phone, but he even lent us a dolly and a box to put our old paint in when we arrived. He was so busy helping other customers and still took the time to help the environment. We ended up buying some paint and couldn't have been happier with our experience. read more

I have been a contractor for 20 years and I will never set foot in this store again. Don't waist your time and patience trying to get your paint order filled in any sort of professional fashion. Dunn-Edwards sells quality paint, with corresponding prices. Unfortunately, their service is awful. The first problem is that there are no prices on the shelves. Not the biggest deal if you know roughly what things should cost, but it makes it hard to do any comparison shopping between their various products. I guess it hasn't occurred to them that asking their employees for prices for every single item is not an efficient use of their employees' or their customers' time. I was told that it's because there are different price structures for contractors - I have no problem with that, but why not put out the prices and the contractors can assume whatever % discount they get? Worse though is their queuing system. Take a number, get your service...ok, that's fine as far as it goes, but everyone waits in the same line. It's a great place to go if you actually need service. If you know what you want and you're just going in there to buy it, be prepared to wait in a long line behind everyone else who has questions, who needs paint mixed, etc. If they could simply dedicate someone to running a register (when necessary) they could get customers out the door faster and do a bit more business. As it is, I never buy anything there unless it is absolutely necessary because it is simply not worth my time. I can get the same quality at Sherwin-Williams without the wait or the headache, and even Home Depot is a much faster and more pleasant option for buying accessories. read more

This Dunn Edwards is not my normal location that I order from. This rule must exist because it's a rich affluent neighborhood with a bunch of SNOBS and ELITIST working here. I called in to place a phone order for some paint, and DAVE had the audacity to tell me that I cannot unless I have an account. I have never had an issue placing a phone order before, until today. I guess there is always an exception to the rule. I am not an interior designer nor am I a paint contractor, I am an ordinary person who likes to change the paint in there room once in a while. Customer service is terrible! I tried to phone in a paint order to save time, I waited on hold for 30 minutes and told to continue holding three times. I placed my order with the brain dead idiot Aaron but when I arrived my order was not there and they had no record of the order. Apparently my time is not as valuable as theirs. We came to Michelle, the paint color consultant at this store, for help with selecting colors for our 6,000 square feet worship area of the church. We were very impressed with her professionalism and friendliness. Within ten minutes we knew that she was very competent and well rounded, just what we needed to decide how to coordinate colors, lighting, flooring etc. We definitely would encourage more people to take advantage of this very useful service from Dunn Edwards. We intend to come back to see Michelle for more help with the rest of church and other properties. read more

I had my house painted hmmm years ago...not sure, 10 yrs ago. Had someone making repairs on house went to Dunn and ordered paint by name and #...and color has changed dramatically because of type of paint changes, and for whatever reason, the person did not return the paint to fix the color...that was about 5 or 6 yrs ago? Anyway....found 1/2 can of original paint...took the full can I had that was the wrong color...and took it back to see what could be done. I just have to give a shout out to Perris, he said he would do his best...and even though paint is a little darker, I could use it...not to patch...but certainly, paint a side of a wall! It's been 15 years since I was involved in a house renovation project. I was a bit apprehensive in choosing the right interior colors that would harmonize with each other. I tend to use at least 6-8 interior colors. Rosie, the paint specialist, was exceptionally helpful in making this entire experience a rather pleasant one. Rosie also helped me with the exterior colors. After 2 hours of consultation, I was totally relaxed and quite happy with the choices I made under Rosie's advice. Dunn Edwards paint is also the best and I'm very pleased they give a sizable discount to my contractor which passes the savings down to me as well. The only reason I can give five stars is for Rosie, the designer, who is super nice and helpful. This is a FREE service they offer and I really took advantage of it. I am exhausted after going to this store. I work with designers and buy paints at other facilities for the projects ordered. One designer expressly wanted Du-Edwards. Went online to find the color and number requested but it didn't appear. Went to the store and waited to be waited on. Many sales people but they all of a sudden disappear after completing a transaction. Took a number but it was way higher than the posted number. But waited as I had no choice. Finally got a sales person who said the colors I wanted were discontinued but he was willing to find them in the system. He finally did, I paid. Now I was told to wait for them to be processed. I looked around me and many customers were waiting too. I was in the store over 1 1/2 hours. Finally after some fussing I got my paints. Then a few days later I had to get more of one color. Same procedure except hardly any customers while sales people were popping up and disappearing. In fact 2 were standing behind the counter chatting and chuckling with each other. I finally made a fuss (one shouldn't have to do that) and got attention. Sales person grabbed the fan deck of colors. I told him it was not in there but is in the computer of discontinues. My original sales person came forward and was able to find the number in the computer. Then after they got my payment I was told I would have to wait 15 minutes or come back the next day. I had an appointment I needed to keep. Original sales person did it in 5 minutes. OSH can do this task in less time with only 1 paint mixer employee. So in conclusion let me say that I will beg my designer to use Benjamin Moore color wheels so I don't have to spend hours in a paint store that doesn't care about the customers at all. read more

Until Dunn-Edwards settles my claim, which has been in the pipeline for over a year, I will keep this 1 star rating. One inspector tried to blame the problem with the paint on things that were not the case such as ... the bathroom must have been used too soon after painting and therefore this was the result. Well I was renovating the entire house and didn't even live here so that excuse was just hilarious. I am waiting for them to approve paying the labor to have a painter repaint the areas that have issues from their paint quality. It is not a large area either. My point is should the home owner have to repay for the labor of a job? Should a painter do his job for free to fix a problem with a product? Dragging their feet on a simple claim is really disrespectful to customers. I have been waiting patiently. read more

If I could give it a negative star I would. The last time I went this store I pulled a number and then waited, waited, waited and waited some more while one employee spent all of his time at the counter talking to exactly one woman who had a hundred questions. The rest of the customers just stood in a long line, while the other employee behind the counter had his back to us the entire time watching the paint machine mix the paint (how fascinating this must be for him -- can't imagine why since he does it all day long). Then another employee came to the front, counter, saw the line and then got on the phone and would not give any of us eye contact. Paint quality is good, prices are average for what you get. Service is pleasant but ungodly slow. I even dropped off the paint I needed them to match a day in advance and just needed to pick it up the next day (even paid for it in advance) and it still took 20 minutes to get it.
