Lobster roll with fries and the fried shrimp basket

One of my favorite stops on our Maine trip. We were not planning to eat here, but while passing on our way out of boothbay harbor, we saw this shack and knew that it had to be great. My wife got the shrimp basket and I got the jumbo lobster roll. Both were top quality. The lobster was so fresh and there was the perfect amount of mayo to where it cover the lobster, but did not over take it. The service was so friendly and I and so ready to be back again to order another roll.

I love this spot and almost never have a problem finding parking. Which is amazing, even during tourist season. It's a cute little roadside food place, very Summer. Very Maine. Offers the typical coastal stuff: fried -everything that comes out of the ocean. Plus burgers, chicken, fries, mozzarella sticks, hot dogs. Etc. two big cases of a variety of drinks. A basket full of numerous home baked goodies (I grabbed a Whoopie pie!) and two shelves full of all the condiments and toppings you could want. The folks that work here are so friendly and patient. Love their faces! Lots of seating! Even mini picnic tables for the kiddos.

Their lobster roll is amazing! Our group also had the haddock with fries. That is also amazing! Their tater sauce goes very well with the haddock

Stopped by here before heading over to the Botanical garden for a quick bite to eat. The shrimp po' boy was a good size and was! Also got a single hot dog with sauerkraut, which was really good because it had snap!

Today we tried the bacon wrapped scallops, onion rings, and a red hot dog with mustard. Onion rings were cooked perfectly, with the onion inside intact and the breading crispy and delicious! The scallops melted in our mouths with the bacon cooked just crisp enough! Offered with honey mustard. The red dog was yummy too and a great deal for $3. All in all delicious and a great little stop for a bite!

Best seafood and grilled food ever. Would love to come back again. Nice little place by the ocean.

One of the best lobster roll I've had. No fillers, just a dressing and the fresh lobster on a hot toasted bun. I love it's simplicity and freshness. Burgers are juicy and flavorful. The tomatoes and lettuce are fresh. The buns could've been more toasted but other than that, it is perfect. Fries are good and fresh out of the frier and hotdogs are hotdogs, they are hard to mess with. Love this place and will come back when we go back to maine.

    Best lobster roll in Maine!

We arrived after a day at the nearby Botanical Garden and were ready for our first Lobstah Roll back in Maine. The Good: *Happy Hour daily 3 - 5 p.m. *Clam Chowder was fine, but I thought it should be thicker for my liking. Carissa thought it was fine fwiw. *Fairly large parking lot that could get filled during busier times of the year, but parking was plentiful upon our visit. *Full bar with everything from spirits to local micro and macro brews on tap. *Amazing views from their dog-friendly outdoor dining. They also have some indoor dining upstairs during inclement weather. The Meh: *Service wasn't friendly at all from the order or pickup booth. In fact, I'd say it was downright sassy-- and not in a good way. When we asked for our lobster buttered and not dressed (i.e., mayo) we got a giant eyeroll from the maître d'. Why she cares is beyond me, since she's not doing much beyond taking orders. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ *The bartender was slightly better service-wise, but she tends to disappear and you have to wait around for her to re-appear. *Fries were whatever, but at least they were cheap. *The Lobster was overcooked and chewy, which is disappointing. However, we will say they were very generous with the Lobster itself, as we both got fairly large pieces of claws. Pro Tip: If two people want a regular Lobster roll, you're better off ordering the large and splitting it. I'm pretty sure the large was at least double the meat of the regular, and it was only $10 more. *The roll they use for the roll didn't really hold up to the moisture, as it was fairly soggy by the time it reached our table. The Ugly: *They really have the gall to charge $2 for a tablespoon of melted butter. As if paying $40-50 for a sandwich isn't enough... 0_o Conclusion: Below avg lobstah roll with great views but grumpy Gus service. Hard pass.

I was already in a foul mood, walking in here set me into straight sensory overload. It's a bar where they sing. I am unable to get inebriated enough to enjoy bars where they sing any longer. Call me miserable, maybe I suppose. In addition to the merry old fella belting it out on the mic, we had the joy of having some drunk guy in a large group behind us try and out sing him without a microphone. He even challenged the old guy singing to a form of a duel. Anyway I was so off, I cannot remember anything about my server at all. Nothing. I do remember almost screaming and running out. I sat there trying not to lose it while my wife had the time of her life. Every song made it worse, everyone else is singing, I am dying. When the guy took a break, guess what, dickhead from the crowd goes up and takes over. Shots helped at this point and the weed is kicking in well at this point. Now I'm hungry... My food was inedible and I'm pretty sure incomplete as well. The worst flatbread in the history of flatbreads. I've been vacationing in Northern Maine for 37 years, and we just recently started venturing out to Southern Maine. I came across Cabbage Island Clam Bake via social media late last year. I finally made a point to visit this year. Booking online was very easy. I booked our trip back in December. No payment needed. You pay upon arrival on the day of your trip. Book in advance if possible. They will fill up fast. They cater to special events as well, so reachout if you need to book something. There are a few things to choose from for meals, even for children, incase lobster is not your thing, or maybe you simply are lobstered out and want to have an experience. Communication was fantastic as the date grew closer. We received email confirmation back in December, but June into July it ramped up with maybe an email here or a text to confirm 1-3 times. We did change one of our meals from the chicken to lobster with a simple phone call a few weeks in advance. They were very accommodating and pleasant. We received email confirmation when that was complete. Their website is filled with lots of information. I also watched a few videos via social media to get a feel for what to expect. The day came for our CICB! We went on 7/5/25, afternoon excursion. We arrived a little before 11:30am, checked in and paid an estimated $97 per person. Price will vary. The website has that broken down for you. We waited behind the ticket booth in the shade. When boarding came we were one of the last to board. Once onboard the Benie Alice we were greeted by many of the crew. You could opt to pay for some drinks on board. Bring a sweater, even if it's hot outside Maine summers can be on the cooler side. The bottom level was cold for many as windows were open, and the water air was filling in. The upper deck was warmer, but the seating is limited to about 99 passengers. The front of the boat outside definitely is cold due to the air coming at you when it is moving. The back of the boat is the warmest and most comfortable I found for myself. When we arrived we found seating at an outdoor picnic table in the Hideaway section. It was so nice and secluded! Good to restore any sensory overload we all had. There are many picnic tables around, an indoor seating area, restrooms, bar, kitchen, and small gift shop. Once we were seated our waiter Will came and introduced himself. He also took our drink order. Tea(hot or iced), coffee, and water are apart of your meal. There are sodas and mixed drinks for sale paid via cash. Will brought out the fish chowder. It was FANTASTIC! So good. I added a little salt and pepper, others kept it the way it came. I ventured to check out the lobster being cooked along with all the other fixings. It honestly was so fascinating watching all the hard work that was going into preparing the food. They clearly have this all down to a science and work like a well oiled machine. So many of staff/family took time to chat with guests. Everyone was so nice! A bell went off and we headed to get our food. The line moved pretty quick. On a tray we had 2 lobsters, clams, a potato, melted butter, an onion corn on the cob and an egg. Everyone was superb! We finished with coffee and their famous blueberry cake. The cake was moist, houses many blueberries and had a small crunch on the top. It was a decent size piece as well! This entire experience was wonderful! It's in my list to return if I'm in the area! I'll be recommending it so many! TIP THE STAFF. Jars are on the picnic table. THANK YOU MOORE FAMILY and CREW! You all did an amazing job from day one! Can I be adopted... hehe. Have a wonderful rest of the season.

This is not just a meal, it's an excursion with a boat tour. The clam bake is on a private island owned by the family. Family members walk around and greet you on the island. Betty is one of the sisters. She is 73. Her son cooks lobsters. A nephew was collecting tickets. Some are servers. The pride and love shows. I walked over to see the area where the lobsters and clams were steaming and someone was explaining the process to one of the customers. We were blessed with beautiful weather, so to be fair I think it would not be as enjoyable if it was too hot, cold or rainy. Don't miss out on this epic experience.

Let's quickly get down to the good specifics. The raw oyster appetizer was just right for us: fresh, briny, large oysters (mere points, $36). The lobster bisque was thick, lots of lobster pieces ($12). The clam chowder not quite heavy enough for our preference but good and filled with of clams. Our added bonus was the yummy spinach and artichoke dip ($17). The 1 1/2 pound lobster for dinner ($39) was delicious; tasted as if hauled aboard only a few hours ago. Add in a plate of fried scallops ($34) and a Thai crunch bowl ($19) and we were thoroughly and completely satisfied. Oh yeah, a few good beers, too. Calli kept our drinks refilled and was a constant model of efficiency and good humor. The restaurant has a patio and pretty open dining inside right on the harbor. Conversation is lively but never overwhelming perhaps because it is open. We made a reservation which we'd recommend. In summer it obviously gets very busy. As it should be.

While we enjoyed the food we ordered, our server was somewhat rushed, impatient with us, and clearly needed to turn the table FAST. This is a popular restaurant that does not take reservations, so we went early at 5:30 and had no trouble getting a table outside on the third floor deck. Our server arrived and asked for our drink order just as the menus were dropped, and we said we needed a minute. This was the first hint that she had no time for our nonsense! She did return a few minutes later to take our drink order and asked to place our appetizers. Drinks and apps came out lightning fast, clearly pre-made and sitting. The fried oyster appetizer was delicious. For dinner we tried the lobster risotto, which was much much better than I expected given the vibe of the restaurant. When it came time for dessert our waitress asked what we might want after reciting what they offered. We chatted for a moment among ourselves, which was apparently too long, and she huffed off saying she did not have time for this, and would return. Clearly they wanted the table, and for us to leave, so we did. I get it, Boothbay Harbor is busy and filled with tourists. Some of the restaurants (like this one, and their sister spot) don't even try hard with service. We've had some good as well as excellent dinner in this small town. There's no reason for such poor and rushed service. A shame as the food was pretty good. Don't expect to stay here more than 45 minutes or so for your dinner. Given our service experience, I think I'd be hard pressed to come back here.

In the summer, their rooftop deck has one of the best views in town. Service has always been friendly and attentive, even during busy times. Our go-to is the haddock sandwich. They use these massive pieces of fish, and it's always cooked perfectly. We've had it both fried and blackened -- both are excellent!

I had a margarita which tasted like straight up mix from a bottle, little or no tequila. Essentially not drinkable. Our friends ordered a bowl of chilli and a shrimp entree, while we ordered a couple of sushi rolls. Our friends food was delivered promptly, but our sushi was not served for another solid 10+ minutes. Server never came, so eventually I went in to find her after 10 minutes went by without food. She was nowhere to be found, so I mentioned this to another waiter, who looked confused, and said he would let her know. A few minutes later she came and said that sushi takes long to prepare. No apology, and by that time our friends were just about done with their lunch, when our rolls came out. All in all, the food was not pretty good, but the experience was poor. There was no excuse as the restaurant wasn't even that busy. I can't say we can recommend this restaurant, or that we would return.
