I love this spot and almost never have a problem finding parking. Which is amazing, even during tourist season. It's a cute little roadside food place, very Summer. Very Maine. Offers the typical coastal stuff: fried -everything that comes out of the ocean. Plus burgers, chicken, fries, mozzarella sticks, hot dogs. Etc. two big cases of a variety of drinks. A basket full of numerous home baked goodies (I grabbed a Whoopie pie!) and two shelves full of all the condiments and toppings you could want. The folks that work here are so friendly and patient. One of my favorite stops on our Maine trip. We were not planning to eat here, but while passing on our way out of boothbay harbor, we saw this shack and knew that it had to be great. My wife got the shrimp basket and I got the jumbo lobster roll. Both were top quality. The lobster was so fresh and there was the perfect amount of mayo to where it cover the lobster, but did not over take it. For a little shack on the side of the road, this place was hoppin'!! My husband and I both shared the jumbo lobster roll($43) and bacon wrapped scallops($20). The roll was the same size as the regular lobster roll, just had more piled on it. It was just pretty good. The scallops were delicious and served with a small container of Ken's mustard sauce. There are picnic tables behind the shack & we ate there. My husband was still hungry after we finished & got a foot long hotdog, Sabrett's, which he enjoyed. We had been told this was a good spot for lobster rolls, but I would say it was really just ok. read more

have to review this place AGAIN (definitely see my old review) as it is soooo good. It has quality food at cheap prices. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Not fine dining but good solid food. It is so nostalgic and recalls a bygone era of roadside stands for those who travel via car. It is embedded in my memory because even though that era is gone ( you can still find vestiges of it in New England, especially in this area), I can still recall those memories of my youth. Today we tried the bacon wrapped scallops, onion rings, and a red hot dog with mustard. Onion rings were cooked perfectly, with the onion inside intact and the breading crispy and delicious! The scallops melted in our mouths with the bacon cooked just crisp enough! Offered with honey mustard. The red dog was yummy too and a great deal for $3. I am in awe with the incredible food they put out from this little shack! My husband and I had the lobster roll, a fish sandwich and a burger! It was SO DELICIOUS we showed up the next day for another dose of Dunton's fish sandwiches before heading out of town! Now we joke with each other saying let's drive up to Dunton's for lunch! One of the best lobster roll I've had. No fillers, just a dressing and the fresh lobster on a hot toasted bun. I love it's simplicity and freshness. Burgers are juicy and flavorful. The tomatoes and lettuce are fresh. The buns could've been more toasted but other than that, it is perfect. We ate lobster rolls from Dunton's twice during our one week stay in Boohtbay Harbor. Both were very flavorful and extremely generous in the amount of lobster they contained. We tried a lobster salad at the much ballyhooed Shaw's in New Harbor and found both the flavor and amount of lobster far superior at Dunton's. I am posting Dunton's menu from September 2023 so all may see for themselves the choices. We paid $29 for the lobster rolls, a considerably better price than Shaw's or the other touted lobster roll place, Red's in Wiscasset. I also posted a photo of one of our lobster rolls. read more

Could be the Best Burger in Boothbay Harbor, but absolutely the best cheap eats! We dream of places like this. Great food from food stands at a price (Cash Only) that anyone can afford. We had the double burger, eggplant parm, fries and rings. Everything was exceptional. Burgers were juicy and flavorful on just a grilled bun. Perfection! The eggplant was only slightly breaded, then deep fried to goodness. Condiments are typical for a hot dog stand. The whoopie pies mean you can have desert too. We were too full for that. This burger is good enough to go back and see if they are as good as I remember after one day. Picnic tables out behind the stand are fine, but with so many great views within a few minutes walk, take the food out to one of those. Street side parking is limited if you drive. read more

When the cook asks permission to give a slice of bacon to a dog in line ahead of you, it's often a sign that you've found a special little place. That sort of thing, to me, signifies that the staff isn't zoned out. They're there in the moment, happy, and enjoying what they do. And that showed through in the food here. It isn't fancy. It's basic ingredients cooked on a flat top. But, of course, I wouldn't complain if Heaven turned out to be a circular stool at a counter before a talented short order cook... The griddle the kraut to top the hot dogs before slathering it atop a butter-toasted New England style frankfurter bun. That griddling is such a small touch, but it really elevates the whole thing. The fried haddock sandwich is just another nugget of proof in the great campaign to prove it is the ultimate fish sandwich. It's light and crisp and oh so juicy. It's all just very well done, and you really notice after over-eating just how not greasy it is. In short, it's everything you could ask for and more from a shack on the side of the road. read more
