He is what we look for in someone to work with - empathetic, reliable, competent and has the probity that defines a true service professional. The greatest desideratum of any company is to find, interview, hire and retain employees whose work is meritorious, whose attitudes are contagious and those that treat all people and customers like they matter, regardless of position or status. Jeff leans forward to define his role and he has a true desire to help a customer not only understand what they have - but what they need and why - if they need anything at all. His knowledge and caring are obvious from the moment you meet him, and he is the epitome of what we should all seek in a technician and a company. No wonder DuPage Water has been around 67 years. I'd really like to give 5 stars but given their $139 service charge, 4 is what it'll be. Our water softener was installed by them, DuPage Water Conditioning, back in 2009 and has worked flawlessly!! Recently the brine control valve started leaking. Made a appointment and was scheduled within a timely manner. Albert, the service technician called with a time he arrived on our scheduled day. Nice, thorough man checked everything I had concerns with....that is testing how soft our water was and the inlet water screen. He replaced the leaking valve and everything is fine now. I understand that costs are going up but from $89 to $139 seems excessive to me. But....they know their business and do quality work. read more

I didn't really have a good experience at this restaurant. When I walked in, I was bet surprised by the lack of seating. I found a small table in a section marked "employees only", which I found humorous and ironic. My waitress kept trying to sell me a water softener, which I found funny at first, but the joke really started getting stale after she pretended to call the police about some crazy man asking to see the drink menu in her store (speaking of which, she refused to show me the drink menu!). So, like most restaurants these days, this place had some quirky way you get your food. At Dupage Water, you have to go to his tiny room in the back and look in the refrigerator. I found my dinner in a brown paper bag with the name "Emily" on it. Overall, I wasn't that impressed with the place. My Capri-Sun was lukewarm and I'm pretty sure the after-dinner mints I found in my ironic sack lunch meal were prescription pills. Not worth it. read more

Ok I bought a iron filter and water softener from them about 5-6 years ago. They claim to have a life time warranty. I started to have a problem with the iron filter. Call them for a service call and now will not stand behind there warranty. Wanted to charge a unbelievable markup on parts. After argument with I guess was the owner( I guess ) gave up and they lost my business. These guys will overcharge and gouge you any chance they get. My neighbors had a similar issue. I cannot recommend a company that is run like this. I would suggest looking at Johnson Water Conditioning. read more

Be sure to ask them about their service fee before you schedule a service call. I was charged $139 for a simple 5 minute visual inspection of an out-of-service Dupage branded water softener installed back in 2004 by a previous homeowner which is no longer needed due to what I am told was a change in the source for community water about 5 years ago. The service tech didn't touch a thing. Checked water to confirm the source was providing soft clean water (took 2 minutes and frankly was something I could have done myself). Net result of the 10 minute service call was "nothing to be done here, that will be $139". I was a bit shocked at the amount so I felt compelled to call Dupage Water and ask the management to consider an adjustment. I was told by the receptionist that if the serviceman walks in the home, the fee is automatically $139 PERIOD!.. and that I should have asked what the fee was before the service call. PERIOD! No warm and fuzzy just my fault for not asking and . Yes, I probably should have (shame on me), but was hoping for some sort of fee adjustment due to the fact that nothing was actually serviced. It ended up being more of a consultation fee than a service fee and lasted 10 minutes from start to finish. I guess asking for some flexibility in the cost of the fee due to circumstances was an absurd request by me and certainly asking too much from this company. read more

I have had very good experiences with DuPage Water. Sometimes the person answering the phone isn't the friendliest; however, that is not always the same person. Overall, their product is excellent and their service techs have always been great. We've had a water softener, chlorinator and reverse osmosis system from them - very good products. read more

Untrustworthy and harassing. Moved into a home that had equipment installed for last 19 years with previous owners. Shortly after moving in we received a phone call from Norm to extend lease agreement. When declined to continue lease on 20 year old equipment or purchase, Norm's attitude had changed from polite and accommodating to demanding and almost harassing. To top things off, when the service tech picked up the equipment he took with him a bag of salt sitting next to the equipment. The next day I called a competitor to have new equipment installed and the water quality is better than when we moved in with the DuPage water conditioner - and much more professional staff. Couldn't be happier with the choice I made on water conditioning vendor. read more

I have been a customer for 25 years, first at a home in West Chicago and then in Yorkville. My softener quit working so I called to have it serviced. I was told they would have to call me on the morning of their scheduled day to give me a two hour window. So basically I would not be able to plan anything for the whole day. I have 3 kids and one day off, so it's nearly impossible for me to sit home all day. I'm fine with a two hour window but can't you let me know a week ahead of time??? When I brought this up to the rude office lady, she said that is just how they do it. Then Norm called me and left a snotty, condescending message saying I needed to leave him more numbers so they could figure out how to "jump through hoops for me". 25 years of renting and this was only my second service call. Wow. Norm can take his softener and well... We are buying our own. read more

Lifetime guarantee as long as you own the home is a bummer. You pay top dollar for the product and the guarantee should run with the home. This type of gimmicky guarantee went out of style in the 50's. Tech to repair was competent but very pricey. read more

I have to agree with the other two the woman answering is rude, and could care less how long you hold, I had to call 5 times to get a return call. I purchased a brand new water treatment softener from Du page Water. Over the period of 5 years I have had 6 or 7 service calls (all for a $75 charge by the way) because my water seamed to hard? and was not working properly. As a result all of my pluming lines are now clogged with a white residue, and even my faucets have hard water on them. Of course I keep the softener filled constantly with salt. So that is not the problem. When I called the owner to inform him I have thousands of dollars in appliances that are now broken from Hard Water deposits. He told me he did everything he could do, and his warranty do not cover appliances. I wish I could sell a product that does not work, and hide behind a faulty warranty and low standard business ethics. I am 40 years old and have never dealt with a worse company in my life. I emailed this firm asking for assistance as they installed my last softener. I was unsure what was wrong but the electrical panel was out yet the softener was still working and asked could someone come out and diagnose it and if I need to replace it that is fine. The response I received was you are having a problem with the electronics and we cannot help. Clearly it needed to be replaced but another firm came out saw that and simply installed a new one at a cost of course. BUT I was okay with that. I needed service and the best they could do is tell me what they could NOT do, which, in customer service is the first thing you do NOT ever do is tell a customer what you cannot do. I'll not call them for anything ever again since they could have had a sale but instead told me what they could not do about a softener they installed 4 years ago and it was crap. Had 48-year-old DuPage Water system. Working fine until recently. Original home installation. Developed valve problem. Had to decide to repair or replace system. Did research among several vendors and hardware stores regarding new units. Priced out six alternatives. DuPage Water was highest, but would include a cutoff valve replacement in the quote, and also they included a more expensive mechanical brass head on tank, not digital, which we determined would be best in our opinion. DuPage Water answered all our questions. Never gave us a sales pitch, and we found their information to be correct when we checked it against other sources. We chose DuPage Water for our purchase. Installation was done exactly as they said, the price did not change, and they surprised us by refunding the original service call charge (for when they came out to first determine what was the initial problem) when we paid for the new replacement system. read more
