This place rocks!!!!! There are many good New Mexico food places in Albuquerque, but the NM diner inside this cool retro operating Pharmacy is at the top of the list. I love the food here and the prices are low and very reasonable. Service here has always been outstanding and friendly with a small town feel. If you want the real deal in Abq go here and you will love it! The red chile especially is really really good here and above average. And they make really good red hot sauce and Green Chile salsa that they ship anywhere. As for the pharmacy side they have cool retro things here that are really unique for purchase. The menu is pretty straight forward with typical New Mexican choices. All items come with the standard choice of red or green chile. I HIGHLY recommend the red its the best in town. The red is so bright and lavaesk don't get confused its not hot like lava just the beautiful color. Duran's is probably my favorite place to eat cheese enchiladas in Albuquerque, and they have some impressive competition. I have been here probably 15 times, and I usually order the flat blue corn cheese enchiladas with red chili, with an over-easy egg on top. Their chili is pretty spicy, without being so hot that it overwhelms the flavors. It has a fairly nice covered porch area, and a fun gift store, with novelty sock and items from local artists. The food is delicious and always tastes wonderfully fresh. The entire atmosphere is great with an old coffee shop feel, complete with aluminum swivel stools at the counter. I recommend the Frito Pie. The pharmacy itself reminds me of a five and dime with little goodies you may not find anywhere else. They even have a section dedicated to Albuquerque favorites Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul with everything from coffee mugs to postcards featuring the shows. Visitors from out of town should definitely stop by this Albuquerque institution for breakfast or lunch and take a few minutes to browse the gift shop. The food here was excellent. I visited the restaurant and pharmacy with a few of my buddies and we were really impressed. The food was the best we had in New Mexico. Our server was very attentive and prompt once we sat down. Being out of the state, we weren't too sure on what to order. Our waitress brought out some samples for the red and green chile. It was a nice gesture to make sure we ordered something that we enjoyed. I ordered the Torpedo, and it was delicious. Portion size was great for the price. Everything was made fresh, and nothing came from the can. We ordered another tortilla with our meal. You could definitely tell that it was freshly made. In the back of a general store, this is an old-fashioned soda-bar/diner kind of place with home-cooked taste and 'the best hand rolled flour tortilla ever" according to them!! I had a tamali and my friend had the tortilla soup, it all came out in a reasonable amount of time and was mighty tasty! I was able to choose my level of spice which in was grateful for! They offer green and red chili sauces and a decent guacamole! My friend asked for his tamali smothered in red sauce! The waitress remembered him and how he liked his food, and brought a sample of guacamole for me to try. The service was fast and friendly. So I had never been here before and was looking forward to this quaint place. The store was cute and had a lot of NM stuff for purchase. HOWEVER, I ordered the tostadas and well let me tell you about them. They cost 8.50 and came with two almost burnt corn tortillas and the beans were dry and crusty. They tossed on some cheese which was adequate and tossed on some lettuce (like four pieces). These were the worst tostadas I have EVER had. Please don't waste your time with getting the tostadas or just plain going there at all. Seriously, Taco Bell has better tostadas. Duran's needs to call El Parasol and learn how to make tostadas. Duran's please call El Parasol up north and learn how to make tostadas. I don't mind paying for food if it's good food and your food was HORRIBLE. read more

However, their chile is supposedly amazing here...I can't do too much heat, but the red and green are to be reckoned with. Delicious! Real Mexican Food served in a clean, quite environment. Four of us tried this well hidden restaurant after I saw a story on the local news. They showed the lady rolling large, soft tortillas BY HAND. Then interviewed a couple of locals telling how great it was, so we decided to try it out. We weren't disappointed. Probably my favorite place to eat New Mexican food in town. The tortillas are huge, and taste homemade. Their red Chile is by far the best, and something about their iced tea just tops off the experience. My favorite server is Donna. She remembers what we order, how we order it, everyone's name, and what school they go to. It's almost like you're family there.
