This place was really interesting as it was in a Drug Store. While you wait, you can shop around for local knick-knacks or gifts. We got there around 230 and there was a line for lunch, but it moved quickly. As far as the food, I was disappointed. The menu looked delicious but I also think it was kinda pricey. They claim to have the best tortillas, but I think they were OK. The worst was I got tamales and when the waitress asked me if I wanted red or green chili, I asked which was less spicy. She said they were both good and would bring them on the side. They were both SOOO spicy to me I couldn't even eat it. The filling was also equally as spicy. I'm not sure why she didn't mention that to me. There were visible seeds in the stuffing, making it extra spicy. While on vacation, this was probably my least favorite for food, but the atmosphere was different and fun. read more

We have been visiting this place for over 20 years. I am sad to say the service has gone way down. They used to have the best service before Covid and now have lots of new faces (miss those hard working ladies who used to run the place and loved their job) The food is delicious, expensive but was worth it when the service matched. We came here for breakfast and few days ago. The restaurant was sadly empty (we have never seen this before) and we had terrible service. The waitstaff stood behind the bar and chatted. They never checked on our table, filled our drinks or cleared the table. I do not mind tipping and always give at least 20 % but have a hard time when people do not work/serve for it. Establishments need to take a look at how Chick-fil- A trains their employees as they are always eager to serve and make dining there a pleasure! read more

This place has been there since I was a child. Best homemade flour tortillas. The food is very flavorful. A bit pricey but it's good. It's always busy on the weekends. And it's nice because the restaurant and pharmacy are attached so you get what you need and you eat. read more

On recommendation stopped in for early dinner with my mother. Was told it's busy but there was no wait so we asked for a larger table and they had to ask if it possible. Then we ordered the green chicken enchiladas ( paid extra for chicken) and tortilla (took so long to get it food was cold). The plate came out too hot to touch but foid was bland and mediocre warm. When asked if they could warm the food again had to see what they could do. Took awhile but took foid put back under the heater salamander and again I got a hotter plate and same cold food. Upon leaving the hostess asked how was it and we shared our thoughts and response "well everyone else loves it". The tall bald waiter and the dark haired hostess were both rude and the food was disgustingly cold and bland. I would not recommend this place. This a nice cozy corner near old town, serving one of the best tortillas I've had here in ABQ, I'd have to say. I've only been here twice and I'm happy to say the food has yet to fail me. My suggestion try the Turkey jack or the torpedo ( I haven't had one yet, but actually look forward to it, haha.) My first time here it was quiet Thursday night, with only approximately maybe three other tables of 1/2 with the exception of one table of about 6, and the service was great. The second time was a Saturday evening, and it was pretty packed, but now only with one server. She took a while to get to everyone in the room, but I still was happy with my stuffed sopapilla upon arrival. Durans is so good. The salsa is amazing but HOT. The carne adovada is always good too. The atmosphere is fun and busy. Make sure you have at least 30 mins or so to walk around after you eat so you can check out the store and all it's interesting items The only reason I didnt hit 5-stars is because seating is limited and sometimes you have to wait. The food is really good. I had the durans combo plate. I added chicken to enchilada. They give you a choice of red or green chile. I decided to make it Christmas. The flour tortillas are homemade and are exceptional. I would have given a five star rating. The service was not that good. I think it's due to the age group of the server and they did not know customer service that much at that age. My teenage son got the stuffed sopapilla. Clean that plate in no time. A must visit place when in Albuquerque, Duran's New Mexican style cuisine is a representation of the culture in ABQ. A local favorite with some of the best Chile this side of the Rio Grande. You'll find a more than welcoming staff that will make you feel right at home and make sure you leave satisfied. My waitress (I wish I had asked her name) even sang a song to me in Spanish, making me feel like it was my Grandma serving me. There's a little shop and pharmacy within the building where you will find little gifts and things you can't find anywhere else. My wife and I enjoyed browsing the shop once our bellies were full. I give this place an 11/10 and will most definitely be back for a bowl of Chile. read more

It took me about 20 minutes to make it to the restaurant because their shop is amazing. So many locally made gifts and products ranging from bags to jewelry to soap. Came in on the Thursday night before Christmas and the environment was cozy and inviting. The staff were kind and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. We began by ordering the prickly pear margarita, which wasn't the best but the food 100% saved it. We ordered the chips and salsa and it was a great introduction to the meal, with the salsa even having a good amount of heat. We had the frito pie with both red and green chile and the Turkey Jack. Each had the option of coming with a homemade tortilla either with or without butter and we had one of each, it was a great addition. The menu is on the small side, but that's because this is a small place. If you want New Mexican food, this is a great place to go. Their chile (red OR green) is fabulous- flavorful, and usually not too hot. The tortillas are handmade and so delicious that we have to order tortillas with butter to go with our meal- no matter what we order! Eating here is like eating in your best friend's grandma's kitchen, and it's awesome. The orders are big, so be prepared to stuff yourself- and you'll probably still have leftovers! The service has always been friendly and quick, and we have never been unhappy. It can be very busy, so sometimes that does create a wait for food- the kitchen is tiny but they are as quick as they can be.
