Dusk is by favorite bar in Santa Barbara! The Mexican inspired cocktails and bar bites are incredible. The staff are extremely warm and the open concept and ambiance of the space make it so inviting for people walking on State street to pop in. John and Claudia are so kind and have made every experience at Dusk so special. My personal favorite cocktail to order is Fine Fine Fine - super refreshing and a little tart. But their Paloma is a close second! Don't forget to check out their food to pair with your drinks... Their Laguna Bay oysters are so fresh and Tuna tostada is one of the best I've ever had. My friends wanted to check out this new bar near Joe's. The space is open air with a clean, minimalist feel. It's a smaller space (currently no patio in front). The cocktail menu is fun. I tried the Fine Fine Fine which was a vodka drink with midori, lime, cucumber lime cordial and kiwi salt. Delicious! My friend was disappointed because her "Into the Sky" cocktail did not come with a "Cloud of Smoke" (the machine was broken, which creates this effect). We didn't get here in time for happy hour so we had an expensive $20 cocktail ($15 + tax and tip). The only thing that would make it five stars would be more comfortable seating. They had bench seating on the side of the room (which was not fun to sit on), a communal table in the middle of the room and bar stools at the main bar which were also wooden - cushions would be most welcome! We loved the musician who played soft rock songs. I would return for happy hour and hopefully they will add seat cushions. read more

Stopped by for a drink on a Sunday afternoon and absolutely loved the vibes. The four of us all got different drinks from a spicy margarita to one of their signature cocktails, the into the sky. This bar specializes in tequila and mezcal, which my wife isnt usually a big fan of but the menu does a good job of creating lots of different options. The seating is shared with the coffee shop next door but we had no trouble finding a spot. The bartender was super accommodating and helped us narrow down our choices. We also ordered the olives and he let us know that unfortunately they didnt have anything fresh and they wouldnt want to serve us food that wasnt up to their standards that was refreshing to hear. We instead opted for the corn nuts that were actually the perfect thing to snack on with a cocktail. Of the four cocktails the favorite of the group was the Trato Hecho. read more

My drink was so good!! I would recommend coming to dusk for cocktails. The bartender brought my friends drink and my drink. Then my fiancé ordered a whiskey and it took about 20 minutes for him to get his drink. The ambiance is like a lounge. It is pretty clean and the furniture is new. I've been to Dusk twice; the first time it was busy and the service was fine; I like the space a lot; it's minimal and pretty comfortable so it's a pleasant space to stop in for a drink/meeting/refresh. This second time though was not good. I sat at the bar for a long spell with a meeting companion who had already ordered. Nobody greeted me or offered service. I finally asked the bartender for a club soda and he spaced it and maybe left his shift? Then 20 minutes later (this is no exaggeration) the other bartender was hailed by me (I had no drink in front of me - this is what I expect a good bartender on a very slow afternoon notice) I asked for the club soda again and he got it for me. I'll give them more chances and update the review, but getting really bad service on a slow afternoon is always a bit odd; I guess I can chalk it up to a spaced-out youngster (maybe?) but how hard is it to grab a club soda? Other folks at the bar were clearly getting noticed and served. Very nice space however and the super open windows out to the street and their small sidewalk patio are nice components. I didn't order any food. The attached coffee bar is cute - and they have some interesting specialty drinks as well; not certain if these are completely separate entities. read more

I'm so glad this place opened recently, as it's becoming one of my favorite new places to grab a drink in town. It's located on the main block of state street, right in the middle of all the action and all the biggest bars. Even though it's close by many big clubs, I enjoy that it has more laid-back atmosphere, and it's a nice place to grab a drink and chill after work without being too hectic. Being a huge fan of tequila, and Mezcal, this is a great addition to town, as it has one of the best selections around in my opinion. Most of the drinks are agave based, but they have a full bar, so your friends that like to drink beer, and the typical gin and tonic, could also join you for a drink. And I've met most of the staff, who are all great, but usually when I go, Ian is bartending. His skills and knowledge, are truly out of this world, and he's definitely up. There were some of the best bartenders in town. Although they have a great selection of signature, cocktails, if you tell him what spirit you like, and the palette flavor profile, you're looking for, he's able to craft something extraordinarily inventive, complex, and something that you will hardly find to replicate. He goes above and beyond to perfect each cocktail from the ingredients. All the way down to the garnish kudos to Ian, keep killing it! I've heard they do some great seafood options, and being a huge fan of Spanish Mariscos, I need to try some of those soon! read more
