AZ Air Conditioning installed our new Lennox HVAC system in April 2016, purchased through Costco. The installation was flawless, and the unit is amazing. However, the first couple of 6-month service visits didn't go well. The service technicians were not very good and left us feeling very uncomfortable. After those first couple of visits, our 6-month service visits have been great. We are very grateful to Joseph, who serviced our unit last April, and to Aaron, who serviced it last October. Both of those technicians were superb. They were competent, professional, and very polite and friendly. After spending almost $20,000 for a top-of-the-line HVAC system, it is very nice to feel secure and confident about the technicians who are servicing it. read more

A few months ago we moved into a townhouse and needed to replace the heating, cooling and hot water systems in the house. My A/C system went out during the last heat wave. I called Zacky at AZ Air Conditioning and asked if he could get a replacement for me a.s.a.p. He sent a crew of four men the very next morning , with a brand new 4 ton Air Conditioner. They removed the 18 year old system, flushed the line from my centralized unit in my attic to the condenser unit in the back of my house. They finished the job in one day and my house had cold air once again. The crew was very professional and worked as a well coordinated team. They showed up at 8:00 am and stayed until they were finished at around 5:00 pm. The main technician checked the system and made sure that I knew how to operate the digital controls. I am a licensed General Contractor and own a retail store in West Los Angeles. I have over a dozen installers and service technicians in my business. I have used Zacky and his company for twenty five years at my house and for all of my businesses. He has always given me excellent service and his employees have always been very reliable and professional. I normally don't write reviews but felt compelled to do so this time. Outrageous prices! This outfit doesn't deserve to be Costco contractor. I received a quote of almost $9k just for condenser unit and have similar quality unit installed for half this price!! When I pointed this out to sales rep she responded that Lennox and their installers are somehow better than Carrier factory authorized dealers- just an insult. I've been in this business in the 1990s and know the prices, hence I expected much better pricing from Costco contractor. We signed up for a consultation to install AC through Costco-feeling confident that it was a Costco installation. During the process to set up an appointment, the representative repeatedly requested that both my wife and I be there for the consultation - which I thought was odd, but once again this is a Costco approved supplier, so OK. I received a voice mail (all unknown numbers go to my voice mail) the day before my appointment from a guy with a name starting with "C", leaving a message that if I do not call back they would cancel my appointment. I called back the number and asked for "C", but was told he wasn't there and the lady who picked up my call checked in her computer found our appointment and confirmed the date and time. We waited for someone to show up - no one ever did. Apparently we got canceled (don't know what happened as we confirmed the appointment the day before) and ended up wasting both my wife and my afternoon for an appointment that never showed up. I called back and spoke to "C", who tried to reschedule, but the earliest available time was ABOUT 1 hour 45 minutes away - too late, as we had other appointments. To his credit "C" tried to resolve the issue, but the system is messed up. Very angry we rearranged our schedules, and ended up wasting an afternoon. read more

I just went into my attic to place some new coins in a tote I had stored there. The only people other than me to be in the attic were the air conditioning installers from AZ. There were thousands of dollars of silver coins missing. I normally wouldn't think to make a point out of this without evidence but they were the only people who had access to my attic other than myself. The coins were burried behind numerous crates and getting to them would not have been something a burglar would ever consider, especially taking into account the jewelry, watches and guns that would have been available. read more

Jesus took $150 from my 92 year old mother and did nothing. He checked the air conditioning by bypassing wires to see if it worked, which it did, and then told her there was nothing he could do because 'in his opinion', the thermostat was bad, which he installed in Nov. 2022, buying it through Home Depot, and that's how we got AZ Air & Heating, from the installers list from Home Depot. Then, he had the audacity to tell my visually impaired 92 year old mother that when she gets another thermostat he would come back and ONLY CHARGE HER $99 for the installation. REALLY?!! Why would she spend another hundred bucks on top of the $150 (producing no solutions) she already spent for this so-called technician to blame products instead of workmanship? I called 2 times to the main office and left 2 messages for Jesus to call me... crickets! No call back, nothing! Recommend AZ Air & Heating? No way. I wouldn't subject family or friends to incompetent workmanship and lack of empathy for the elderly where they leave the property with no solutions, no options, other than tell a 92 year old woman, "It's on you lady!" read more

Our A/C died in the middle of a heat wave - of course! After quick research of a few different companies in our area we came across AZ. They came out for a quote the same day and gladly followed all our covid safety requirements. We coordinated with Rey Gutierrez who was fantastic. He patiently answered all our questions, was immediately responsive and available at all hours! He talked us through all the options but never used hard pressured sales tactics. The crew was efficient and thorough and they even added some extras at no cost. They worked so hard in 95% heat, masked to protect our family and respectful of our home. I found this company through Costco and got their help repairing my old AC unit. Later when my unit needed replacing, I called them again and had a great experience: they gave me quotes on everything I asked for, were fast and efficient (completing the install in a day), and were clean and professional from start to finish. I'd been renting an older home for a couple of years and finally bought the place last summer. There was no AC and the duct work was asbestos, and cracked. We had no fan at all only for the heater. The heating system was over 50 years old. It was time for a new system so we could tolerate the summer and also not worry about asbestos in the winter. A salesman in Costco told me it's a great company and I was lured in by the 10% Costco card. I left them my information and got a call back the same day. The next day, Yasmin, a super smart and friendly rep, came to my place. She inspected everything, including climbing up in the attic. She came up with the same conclusion as my house inspector. I needed a new system. The AC was an add on (that we'd planned on) as we figured we should add it on now to improve the home's value. We had the large starting price, applied some seasonal discounts and other things. In the end, it was higher than I wanted to spend but I also felt confident in the product and the service. Yasmin was fantastic in easing our concerns and didn't push at all. That was a Friday I think. Saturday we had an independent Abatement person out to remove the asbestos-suggested by AZ. That was a lot less expensive that I predicted. Monday, several trucks of men showed up right around 8am. They were professional and clean and friendly. Different teams worked on different jobs and it was extremely well orchestrated. They took a lunch break and got right back to it. Remarkably, by 4:15 they were done! The main person showed us how to use the shiny new thermostat-which they relocated. He also had me plug something into the modem so we can access it remotely. They ran electrical wires, added the AC unit and even gave me a new outside outlet I didn't have before which was a nice bonus. We haven't used the AC yet except to try it but the heat kicks in at night and it's very quiet and works much better with the new duct work. I got follow up calls to make sure I was happy with the system. They sent out an inspector to check it over before the town does. Today I received a package from them to call the town inspector. All my permit applications and forms were included and filled out, I just have to make the call. Oh, and last week we got our large Costco gift card-took about 2-3 weeks. This was a wonderful experience all around. Yes I could have gotten this cheaper but with the warrantees, good product, the ties to Costco, and the lightning speed and professionalism, I would rather pay a little more for peace of mind. read more

Live blogging my nightmare experience in the hope that somebody at this company will pay attention. Furnace broke yesterday and am without heat. I have a 3-year-old so priority is fixing this immediately. Was told Home Depot contracts out to reputable companies so called first thing this morning to make an appointment (stupidly chose them over 3 other recommendations). Was told they would be here between 2:00 and 6:00 so I took the day off from work (do these guys know there are actual consequences when somebody takes off from work with the expectation that workers will show up when quoted?) 5:20-- received a call saying they were on their way and would be at my house in 30 minutes. 6:20-- Since it was an hour later and now outside the designated window, I called again to check in. I was told by Antonette that he was on his way and would be there in "10 or 15 minutes." 6:50-- Worried that something had happened to the technician I called Antonette again and she informed me that ACTUALLY THE TECHNICIAN WAS STILL AT HIS LAST JOB. WTF???? When asked how she and the company could repeatedly lie to me she replied that the guy hadn't finished his last job because something had gone wrong. THEN WHY HAD THEY CALLED ME AND THEN TOLD ME MULTIPLE TIMES HE WAS DRIVING AND WOULD BE AT MY HOUSE MOMENTARILY? IS THIS SOME WESTWORLD BULLSH&T WHERE THIS TECHNICIAN HAS SOMEHOW BROKEN THE SPACE/ TIME CONTINUUM AND EXISTS IN TWO PLACES AT ONCE? Was told she would call me back in several minutes with an updated ETA. Keep in mind nobody at this company ever made an outgoing call to inform me that something was going wrong. 7:05-- Was given an updated ETA of 9pm even though they still don't know what's wrong at the technician's last appointment. Customer service is leaving for the day soon so have no way of knowing whether anyone will actually show up. They refused to send someone else who might be available. They also refused to give me the technician's phone number so I could reach out to see if they are actually going to show up this time. Was told my only recourse was to reschedule. So they can do this to me again tomorrow? No thanks. Shame on me for trusting that a company would honor basic business practices like follow-through, NOT LYING TO CUSTOMERS, and proper customer service. All this before I even know if the job will even be done properly. read more

AZ replaced the entire HVAC system, which was more than 20 years old. Everything was great. We had two other estimates, and AZ was several thousand dollars less than both. AZ was 10K less than one company, which was surprising since AZ was installing a very well-known system and an integrated whole-home air purifier. Nino was the team leader, and the entire team was properly masked and remained vigilant about safety measures the entire day. They were efficient and thorough. We've been using our system for about a month now, and everything is running perfectly. This company is great with presentation but everything thing else sucks about them. I had a package system installed on June 24th 2015 and ever since I've had problems with the unit. I have called and spoke to someone by the name of Monique. Every time she tells me how apologetic she is and she will have someone out to fix the problem, not true! To give a brief explanation of what is going on with them. I got the system that was suppose to be quiet. I know that it will not be a totally quiet system but from the day it was installed it has the loud drumming sound. I told the installer Carlos the same day of installation that should not be so loud. He told me its because the framing of my roof does not support the unit so they can't do nothing about the sound. Firstly, if they had come in assess my home to see if I was receiving the right unit for my home we would not have this problem. The only person that came to my home was the sales agent when he was trying to get to give them the job. The installers did not come until the day when the unit was to be installed. Secondly, it is not giving enough cool air. I have warm air blowing from this unit and as soon as it reaches the set temp and shut off it has to kick back on because my home is not staying cool. I have reached out to them and explain all this to them. Last week I had an appointment with them which was like the fourth time that they have been out since the unit was installed and they problem still has not been resolved. My appointment was for 11-2 pm someone did not show up to my home until 7:40 pm. He told me that a fuse blew. I let a lot of things go that they did because such as messing with my electrical and they couldn't get my doorbell to work after they did something with the wiring. Showing up late for appointments and not giving me the courtesy of a call to say that they are running late. Refusing to take care of the problem with the unit and the loud noise especially at night. I have now decided to file a complaint with the Department of Consumer Affairs since this company has shown a total lack of concern for the issue and also for refusing the address the issues with this system. BTW... I was done the same too. I never gave the sales rep authorization to open a credit for me. He had me fill out the paperwork and told me he would call to see if I decided to do it but instead I got a credit card in the mail like 4 weeks later. read more

I found AZ through Costco as they were the contractor assigned for my replacement of both outside condenser and garage heater. So I had no prior reference, no personal references. My first impression was when their salesperson (Dushaun) showed up at my convenience (after work) and answered all my questions and didn't try to upsell. He patiently explained what I had vs. what they could do, and found solutions for all my issues. My challenges: upstairs/downstairs temp challenge; location of condenser outside; balancing temp between rooms; repairing damaged garage box the heater mounts onto...not a no-brainer installation at all. I got my HOA approval to relocate the condenser and within a week all was set. That was all just 2 weeks ago, as in one day (last Friday) the 6 man crew installed, adjusted, and satisfied this sceptic. Byron, the crew lead listened carefully and quickly jumped to action. They showed up at 8am sharp and were done by early afternoon. Their work is professional, they were patient in making the adjustments and a difficult job was done just as hoped. AZ is a professional, reliable and honest contractor. They installed a Lennox heating and air conditioning unit in our townhome in 2009. Their price was competitive and their work was outstanding. They especially distinguished themselves by the way they fixed the mistakes that inevitably come with any job. A few weeks after installation, water began leaking from our second floor furnace closet. They came that night and replaced a pump. Problem solved. A year later, the City reminded us that some permits they had pulled were never inspected. They arranged for an inspector within a week, their on-site staff immediately fixed any minor problems and AZ delivered clean permits to us as promised. Their workmen nicked our front door as they carried equipment in and out. AZ never questioned our report. Their repair guy came out that week and, when we were not satisfied with his work, they covered the cost of our own handyman without hesitation. In this world we all make mistakes. The truly great companies are those that know how to fix them. As we stay cool through the scorching heat wave this summer, we are so glad we put in our A/C -- and feel so lucky that we hired AZ to do it. read more

I have to say that I am really surprised at all the negative reviews on Yelp for AZ - I researched A/C companies for over a year and had bids all over the board and I will have to say that AZ did not come in as the cheapest or most expensive but I felt that they gave me a fair deal, got it all done in one day, pulled all the permits and everything was done to code - there are alot of fly by night companies that could have done it cheaper but I am not interested in having problems down the road with a company I cant reach - we got credits from Costco and a couple other discounts - they continue to follow up with us and they use top quality equipment Lennox only the best - thanks for the great job and service read more

We recently had new HVAC installed by AZ Air Conditioning through Costco. We were pleased. Our salesperson was Damien and he was outstanding. The only reason that the company "only got 4 stars" was that the workers accidentally damaged the pool equipment near the installation site. However, I am pleased to say that we brought this to AZ Air Conditioning and Heating, and they reimbursed us for the costs. This is a stand-up company, they treated us the way most anyone would want to be treated, and again, Damien the salesperson was outstanding. I recommend this company. read more

Paid for through Costco, friendly enough, just were a disaster to work with from start to finish. To start with a guy came out and they were professional saying it'll be ~9000 dollars. Then it turned out we needed a more expensive a/c unit because the one they'd picked shockingly didn't work with our condo regulations despite that having been discussed at the initial time we had the first guy out. Then, the A/C unit leaked everywhere on my new carpet because it was installed incorrectly. They came out and stopped the leaking after ~5 days. Finally, we were trying to find out if they could fix the ducting which they hadn't finished that we'd assumed came with the job. We had a guy come out and try to up-sell us on an air purifier and some other things for 1k-2k for the air purifier and 1k just to replace under 6 feet of totally open old ducting that should have been included with the original price. Anyway, the end of the story is that they walked away with ~11,000 dollars and I received an A/C unit that I think will leak again all over my new carpet and inferior duct work after over-paying for everything involved. This is the worst group I've ever dealt with for A/C repair/replacement. They are just really bad at A/C install and they expect you to foot the bill every time they screw up, which will be *often*. If you buy here, know you are going to pay more than they say and that whatever you need won't be completed on schedule, expect at least a 2 week delay (or more, including the second company you have to pay to come in and fix their mistakes). Honestly, worse than the cost was the time lost waiting for them to fumble around enough to get a working unit in there. It really ruined my remodeling schedule to the point it won't be finished inside of the summer. They are called AZ because you'll have time to read the dictionary while they figure out how to make the A/C they sold you work! read more

Buyer Beware! Deceptive marketers and price gougers. I went with AZ Air after vetting the company through Costco in Westlake. Like many disreputable companies they are great at the pitch and fall short on the follow through. Matt, the salesman was smart, offered some great products and was very personable. On the day of install, he went over everything with my wife, and she was very pleased. The install day took 12 hours (far longer than anticipated), and by the end they were rushing (even though my wife suggested they come back). No one took the time to show us the service or explain the thermostat. Further, there was a burn on my new grass from where they damaged it in their haste. When a rep. came out to discuss, he was very nice and took me through the thermostat, and offered some other good advice. Get an ac cover, filtered returns and preventative maintenance. He said he would get back with prices. When the prices came in I was shocked the returns were $175 ($30 in Home Depot), the cover was $375 ($30-$40 online) and the maintenance was $540 for 2 years. What! I was then told the maintenance was necessary for my 10 year warranty. I was displeased as Matt never told me this. Later, I was told it was buried in the fine print on the back of the contract. Very deceptive. The company said they have a problem with their salespeople not disclosing that, and they apologized. But that doesn't help me. I also wondered why I was not offered filtered returns at first, rather than installing a basic, then charging double for an upgrade. I just wanted a company to be honest and earn a fair margin on their products. My head is spinning from all the people at the company who give "insider" advice and say things like "don't tell the office I said that, they don't like me telling customers that." I didn't want to play games. I just wanted to work with an honest company (backed by costco level of customer service) who wasn't in the business of price gouging. Very unimpressed. I reached out to the company to make good on this, but all they would offer (after a week of waiting) was dropping the cost of an attic fan I was considering from $700 to $690. That's how much they care about keeping me happy. $10 off a 5-figure install. read more

We used AZ Air Conditioning and Heating Inc. through Costco to install a new Lennox air conditioner and furnace. We obtained bids from 4 other contractors, and selected AZ Air Conditioning and Heating Inc., even though their price was higher than the others. The service and product we got from AZ Air Conditioning and Heating was worth the extra money, without a doubt, and I would do it all over again. It's true that you get what you pay for. Edson Ramos, the sales rep for AZ Air Conditioning and Heating Inc. was by far, the most thorough, detailed, knowledgeable, and honest of all the sales reps we met from all the companies we got bids from. He was very clear and straightforward about what his bid included, which consisted of all new materials for the installation, such as new copper refrigeration lines, a new safety switch, a new switch box, a new 4" exhaust vent, as well as other new components. The other companies wanted to use our existing hardware, and the only "new" equipment we would be getting from them was the actual air-conditioner and furnace units. Edson's bid also included a sound jacket for the compressor and a portable pad for the condenser, which the other companies did not offer. It also included installing insulation in the air return vent, which the other companies never even mentioned.  Also, it included repositioning the condenser unit to a better position, not only because we requested it but because it would be necessary to pass the city permit inspection. Edson was very clear that we would be happy with the work, and he guaranteed it would pass the city's permit inspection. He was right on both accounts. An example of Edson's honesty is when he told us our existing refrigeration line was ¾" and we needed a 7/8" line for the unit to run properly. That is what he would be installing. I checked and we in fact did have a ¾" line, yet some of the other sales reps actually lied and told us that our line was 7/8", and did not need to get replaced. Other sales reps told us that our existing ¾" line would work just fine with the new unit, which is not true. Edson was very easy to work with and listened to our requests. For example, I did not want the refrigeration line to run down the side of my exterior house wall contained within an exposed channel. Aesthetically, it would have looked terrible. Edson agreed to open the drywall, run the line within my walls, and replace the removed drywall, as long as I would patch and paint the incisions in the drywall. He put it in writing. AZ Air Conditioning and Heating Inc. came to install the system on the date and time they promised, and completed the job in one day.  Luis, lead person on the job, was extremely friendly and accommodating. He completely explained everything that was being done and had us inspect each portion of the work after it was completed to ensure that we are happy with it. His workers, Armando, Gabriel and Jamie, were top-notch professionals. All four of them paid a lot of attention to detail, were very thorough, and extremely courteous. They worked very hard throughout the day and showed teamwork to get everything done on time. They were careful to not damage/dirty anything in the house and cleaned up after themselves thoroughly at the end of the job. I would welcome all four of them back to work at my house any day. Luis made sure we were happy with his work. For example, he went the extra yard when installing the 4" exhaust vent from the furnace through to the roof. A portion of our existing 3" vent inside the attic was inaccessible and was contained within a wooden chute. Rather than just connect the new 4" vent to the 3" vent at the point where it was inaccessible within the chute, he cut a portion of the panel out of the chute so he could access the 3" vent inside the chute. This allowed him to install the new 4" line completely through from the furnace to the rooftop. The other companies had told me they would not be able to do this, but would instead just put the new 4" vent only to the point where it was accessible. I can't say enough about the work that Luis and his teammates did for us. We are extremely happy with the installation, which is something I think many customers with other companies are often not. I bought a new AC for the house from COSTCO right before the summer and couldn't be happier! My project manager was David Molina and he did a great job of explaining how the system works and the benefits of the high efficiency vs. the entry models. When we decided on a system, he let us know all of the different rebates we were eligible for! The system was a little more expensive than the other bid we got but after the rebates and hearing how much better Lennox is than the other brand we were considering it was close enough to make sense using a company that we know and trust.
