I made an appointment an entire day in advance to arrive the next day for the appointment just to be told they're having a barbershop meeting that clearly wasn't taking place. Poor professionalism this shop is a joke. Don't even know why my appointment was scheduled during a "meeting". This owners has no idea how to run a shop. Go anywhere else. Unlike others I have a very busy schedule my time is not to be wasted. No part of this review is untruthful. You wasted my time it's to late to reschedule once I'm there for an appointment at 2 and I called to make the appointment so no I don't want your damn card. Your shop is horrible. If I payed a deposit for 2pm and came at 4 my deposit would be gone. Share the same respect for your customers you would want. Own up to YOUR trash business. read more

Given that this is a barbershop and not a salon I was surprised (as a white woman) about how welcomed Shavin made me feel. This was the first time I ever had my undercut shaved professionally and I really enjoyed it! I've never felt so clean cut! This is where I take my son to get his hair cut. Omar is great! My son is 10 and has been coming here since he was 8 and calls Omar his Barber. My son isn't a fan of getting his hair cut (at least when I'm doing it) but he looks forward to getting it cut by Omar. I get it, Omar is patient, takes great care when he works. He's a good judge of energy, he doesn't talk someone's ear off who doesn't want to and holds good conversation when it's welcomed. Best of all he is a skillfull Barber. Omar will often have a treat for the kids too, that doesn't hurt. I know not all barbers are great with kids... I mean, not all people are for that matter, so Omar is a diamond in the rough. He's a great Barber for anyone who is looking for a great haircut. The other barbers are also very good I've seen their work. Omar is our go to though. Pros: They do a great job, are friendly, pricing is fair, they cut all hair types and all ages from kids on up. TV, mags, books as you wait. Cons: Parking is tough to find. Chad has been my barbers for the past couple years and never disappoint. He is very precise and efficient with his haircuts. My haircut is usually a comb-over taper combo. Most importantly, he treats me and his customers like family. As for the shop itself, the rest of the barbers are cool folks and very approachable. The shop is clean and well organized. Not too many shops use an online booking portal like they do. Prices are also pretty decent considering this location falls within the San Francisco - Oakland area. read more

I've had a hard time finding a reliable, patient barber for my two young sons (18 months and 3 years old). Largely, I kept having an experience where the barber didn't listen to my needs or wants. After dealing with three separate barbers, I noticed a pattern of them ignoring what I said I wanted for my sons' haircuts . Part of this had to do with me being a woman going into obviouslly male spaces, and some barbers assuming that I didn't know how haircuts work, especially haircuts for young children ... Anyways, I finally came to Yelp for help with finding quality barbers who specialize in Black hair, and accept young clients. I came across a lot of reviews that highlighted Omar at DW - so I took a chance and booked an appointment for my 3 year old (who tends to be a hot mess exactly when you need him not to be, and is generally not fond of haircuts!) and I'm so glad I did! Not only was Omar really easy to talk to, he was also super super super patient (I can't stress this enough) with my son, he talked with him through the process, gave him a treat, and cut a style that was really tailored towards my son's head shape, hair texture and personality. He even made time to cut my 18 months old hair (who is good, as long as snacks are present) as well. Dude is a skilled barber! The following time I brought my boys back, it felt really natural and went smoother than any haircut appointment I've ever had. Omar is now my boys go-to barber FOREVER . I am so grateful! read more

I don't talk much, but he held a great conversation, and most importantly gave me the cleanest fade and lineup I've ever had. The main issue I've had with this shop is getting in a chair. I've come to the shop 4 times before: 3 times with an appointment and once on a walk in. It took me less time to get in a chair for my walk in slot (An hour) than it did for my scheduled appointments (between an hour and a half to two hours after my scheduled appointment). Usually, the barber (Omar) just isn't in the shop at the time of the scheduled appointment, so I have to wait until another barber has an open slot. In terms of quality of the cut itself, that is the shops main plus. Even with the long wait times, Each of my haircuts came with zero issues, as well as some good conversations with that barbers. Overall, if you're willing to sacrifice a decent amount of time to wait on the cut, even if you have an appointment, then this shop is good. However, don't expect timeliness. read more

The guy had a bit of an attitude and said we cut all hair. I bring a picture of exactly what I want. I show, who I assume is the shop owner, when I get there and he says they can do it. Once my son and I arrived for his appointment, we then found out that the barbers go through booksy and not the website. I moved to Berkeley from Manhattan and one of my biggest anxieties while moving was finding a decent enough barber to give me my regular, simple, One-all-around. Luckily, I used yelped and some of the helpful reviews below led me to DW Barbershop in Emeryville a few months back. I've been coming to DW for about 3 months now and I had to let my fellow yelpers know that this establishment is all you can ask of a barbershop and a bit more. The atmosphere is very friendly, especially for a relatively random walk-in from across the country and my "One-all-around" has been done with taste and care from Day One. I'm proud to say Shan'n is my barber and he's the man. There have been multiple times where the shop is closing around 8 and Shan'n will stay half a hour later to get me my cut before a business trip; Thats customer service if i've ever heard of it. Brian took care of business and gave me my first barber-shop haircut in, oh, I don't know, 15 years. I asked for a Don Draper but ended up with an Adolf Hitler. What?! Yeah, it's a little shorter than I was hoping for. But here's the deal, Brian could only work with what I gave him, and my hair is just starting to grow out from a 15-year Caesar. It just wasn't long enough to do the Draper, and you know who had a short Draper? Yeah, I hadn't made that connection either. Long story short: I was a random walk-in who was treated like a regular, the cut was clean and sharp, and I'll be going back. I just needed a quick trim at a nearby place. It seems like maybe my barber at DW (I forgot his name) just didn't have much experience with white guy hair? I'm not sure, but this was the worst haircut I can remember getting. Some highlights: * The trim took about an hour. He was very, very meticulous, but spent probably half the time talking to others, playing with the radio, and just walking around. * I got some unsolicited racist and misogynistic dating advice from my barber. Thanks bud, but I'm doing great? * I also got some unsolicited complaining about the owner and his wife, who was in and out of the barber shop with her couple of unruly kids. * At the end, most of my hair was shorter, but there were little "wings" on the sides of the top of my head. An hour of this was enough for me, though, so I went through the payment hassle (below) and left. Despite what the info on the right says, this place: * Does not take credit card. They recommended I walk up to the 7-11 at the corner where there was an ATM, which I did. Thanks. * Does not have a garage or any dedicated parking. I've gone to DW's several times since I moved to SF, but today was the last time I'll go there for a haircut. I'd go this guy Dion, over the past couple of months. First couple of sessions were good and with good service from him. However the last several times, including today, were anything but good. A while back Dion requested that I book appointments with him via the app "Booksy." Made sense to me because I figured it'd be easier for him to maintain his schedule of clients so I started doing so. However when it came to appointments I'd make, somehow there was always a reason why he'd be late. Not 15-20mins late...an hour late at least. Happened the last consecutive sessions, and it happened again today. I was hesitant to set up an appointment with him, but it's been awhile since I had my last haircut. So I booked an appointment for today. To ensure that our session would be as schedule, I texted the barber hours ahead of time to make sure we're good and he confirmed we were on for the set time. But of course I get there, and tells me he's got a person ahead of me, and of course I don't get in the chair for at least an hour after my scheduled "appointment." Among this today he suddenly increased his charge from $25 to $30, though the sign in the barbershop says otherwise. I'm not on here to bash all the barbers there, and Dion can get the job done at times. But between consistently mismanaging my appointment specifically, no apology or concern about the inconvenience which made me late for a later event, the haircut, and the "sudden new rate", that's enough for me to call it quits here. read more

I read the reviews and should've gone straight to Brian (sheers cut) I walk in and am greeted by the greeter who I assume is the owner. I tell him I want a clean up and a trim. A barber gets up and I believe his name was Leroy, I followed Leroy his station....in back of the shop...like in another room behind the shop. (Should've been my first clue to stop and wait for another barber right there) I tell Leroy I just want to clean up my sides and don't want anything done to the top. He says "ok, I can do that". What does he do....grabs the clipper and starts in the back....only to continue to moving up and....CUTTING THE TOP!!! What part of "I don't want anything done to that top did he not understand!!" Every person that works with you or for you is a representative of your business and of you. I have updated my rating of your shop because of your response and the fact that my girl is no longer harassed when in the area. I will reconsider your shop for its services because the management is very involved. I started taking my 6 year old son to see Ced the Barber over a year ago. As most people can attest, getting a younger child in to get their haircut is no easy task. They complain about the blades getting hot, they don't keep their head or bodies still, and most places would bribe my son with candy to keep still - which I'm not an advocate of, at all. Ced is AWESOME with my son. He is patient, he talks to my son so he gets the attention and the respect he needs to finish the work. Ced always makes sure that I'm happy with the cut (I am a bit of a stickler) which may mean a little extra here or a little extra there and does it with no complaints and takes all the time in the world he needs to make sure that both my son and I are happy. My son is mixed (Filipino and Black) with a swirl in the front and back of his head. It's so comforting to know that Ced has the knowledge to cut diverse and "challenging" head. I love the shop. It's in a great location, clean, and everyone is respectful when a woman and a child are in the shop (I know how it can get when it's just the fella's in the shop!!! LOL) They even made the pro-active effort to change the TV's from a show/channel that is not appropriate for a child to watch for the time that we were there. While I was there there was another customer who was not African-American who came from Walnut Creek to get his haircut by Earl. Earl did a FANTASTIC job on his head, too. It's just great to see a great crew of barbers who show their skills in cutting a diverse group of people with great care and measure that they show. Customer service sucks. Especially as a new client. No razor line a quick unprofessional cut. I'm at a lost for words. Especially as a black male going to a shop ran by black males. I'm really disappointed at this service. I literally have to go home and fix this mess up. Last week I brought my two sons in for a haircut for school. We have been to about 5 different barbers in one year. Whether it was due to horrible environment or foul mouthed barbers, I had to make a switch. A friend told me about Myron and he was very pleasant and happy to service to my boys. I have a 3 and 5 year old and Myron was extremely patient with them, popped in Spiderman and they were cool to go. I am grateful for his skill and professionalism. Boys...I think we found a winner!! To top it off, my church (New Life Community Church) invited Myron and Omar to offer haircuts to the boys at church and the community for our Back 2 School Sunday. It was a great success and you should have seen the smiles on the boys' faces when they got out the chair looking fresh and clean. read more

. So this was our first time here. When we walked in, no one greeted us, asked us who we were there for, nothing. I spoke, no one said anything. There was guy in the back with a blonde/red high top, and the guy who works at the first chair next to the receptionist. I started to walk out but we drove pretty far and my son really wanted to look nice his first day of school. Instead he's going with red swelling on his face. Will be seeing what I could do to sue this barbershop. We scheduled our appointment online for 4pm. My son didn't get in the chair until 4:30 (the barber in the first chair next to the receptionist desk.) The barber asks after 4:15pm did we have an appointment because he had just gotten to the notification, stating confirmations were automatic. If you have auto confirmations that means you need to check your phone regularly. Anyhow he's a weirdo. The shop is super outdated, dark, dusty, and dull. The hand Sanitizer was dirty and cheap, the chairs were dirty and cloth, and the only reason we came here is because my sons barber is out of town for a month. I wouldn't recommend anyone going to him. Like the other reviewer say "first impressions are everything" and so are vibes. The vibe was off here, and the first impression was horrible. The only cool one is the gentleman way in the back on the same side of the receptionist desk with the bald head and beard. They don't chit chat with the younger generation for inclusion or anything. My son has had the same barber 15yrs and has never had a cut, so to see his face cut had me pissed off. I asked did he cut my son when I first seen his face because it was red. He said "he cut close." Baby, you cut him and my baby face is swollen. never again. I've put witch hazel on my sons face. Would I recommend this business? NO. We're they professional? NO. I've been on the hunt for a good barber since my recent move from Florida as I'm quite picky about who touches my hair and typically tend to frequent the salon which can be a bit pricier. I went out on a limb and chose DW barbershop because of the positive reviews I had come across. I made an appointment online which I found to be extremely helpful as this was a new place for me and I would much rather avoid being a walk in. I arrived about ten minutes before my scheduled appointment, as directed, and found several others sitting in the lobby with only one barber working. I assumed this was my guy, so I sat and patiently waited... And waited. Even an hour after my original time, I decided to wait for an opening (especially because it was way beyond time to get a haircut). Finally several other barbers began showing up, along with the owner I'm assuming, and I got my seat time! After some initial hesitation with my medium length hair he began cutting, pausing every so often to ask if things were looking good. At the end of it all I was very pleased with the outcome. Dre listened to any suggestion I had and I left with a smile. He even gave me his number to make an appointment the next time around. The price was a little higher than I anticipated from the appointment page online which said $25, but I took the additional five as a tip. I also saw the gentleman who I assumed to be the owner, active on the shop floor; cleaning up, bringing the next client up when it was their turn and trying to make things flow as easily as possible. These guys are great. Been going to Myron for a few months now. They take their time and do good. I never feel rushed to leave to clear the seat for the next customer like I have many other places. The only feedback i would offer is the need for a general phone number at the shop where a new customer or existing can reach them. I had lost my phone and it took me a few days of trying numbers to get ahold of Myron to set an appointment. Each barber has their own number they use, but if you don't have it its hard to reach them without going in. The number posted on this page is not correct, or no one bothers to answer it.
