I had unruly, hilarious-looking WFH hair (why look presentable when you never leave your home). But an event came up and I needed a last minute haircut. Weekday after work, I called around, and shops were either appointment only, had prices way outside my budget, or closed. Lo and behold Webster Barber Shop came up. One $ sign. I like this barbershop but results vary widely depending on who does your hair. A barbershop should be quick, easy, affordable with tight cuts that last. The price is fair at $25 by Bay Area standards. I have been frustrated the last few times I've gone there in that I told them I wanted the top of my hair cut short, even saying it several times, and them leaving too much hair on top. One guy there is particularly bad, it's like he doesn't listen and piddles around just cutting off 1/8 of an inch at a time, to the point that it took him an hour to cut my hair when the customers beside me were getting their haircuts in around 20 minutes. I needed a haircut today, and my barber wasn't available, so I decided to risk it all by coming here. Let me tell you; I do not regret it at all. It's mother's day, sunday. This is my first professional haircut since the pandemic. I came in around 9ish am and there was already a guy getting his haircut. Now, the other guy had his mask on while he was getting his haircut, which doesn't make sense to me so I took mine off. As i was waiting, she came out of the backroom and asked me to sit on the other chair. She asked me what i wanted, i showed her a previous haircut on my phone, she put on her glasses, and afterwards began brushing my hair and giving the haircut. She said a couple things in Vietnamese at some point, probably about the acne on the back of my head because she made some grunts when she got to that spot, or maybe that's just my insecurity speaking. Anyway, the haircut was pretty quick, took like 10-20 minutes. She was confident with the hair style she gave me (even gave me a big mirror to look at myself). She charged me $25, which is a terrific deal considering the results and inflation rates. Will likely come again, I parked a couple blocks away. There was a bunch of people (mostly adults) crowding a nearby cafe on the other side of the street. Had a lot of people looking at me as I was taking pictures of myself while walking back to my car. I receive an haircut from an older gentlemen months ago. I had a pony tail and I ask him if he could cut my hair shorter as I still want it being able to tied up. Instead of letting my hair down, the barber proceed to cut of my pony tail in a instance. First and last time. Older Lady (Lian i think/owner?) had good reviews so i gave it a try. Go in small shop, three chairs, three barbers this day. No masks on when i walked in..but here's where it gets weird , Lian not only puts on a mask but gloves ...didn't notice till she started as mask ok but gloves?? Gloves really ?!?! My barber was all book for the holidays and I decided to go here. 16 dollars, not bad...It was my second time coming here and the first time i was here Lin actually took care of me and took her time and giving me nice cut with a good fade. Came here and I notice that it was busier than usual and the cut she gave me was so bad. No line up on the sideburns or the top. Just cut everything bad and quick. My partner got a haircut and he said it's about 3 or 4 stars. The service was not very good. Keep in mind they are cash only, which is fine and they have an atm down the street, but the woman who I think is the owner was quite rude and said that they can take credit card for a fee because "it's not free!". Secondly, my partner wanted a little more taken off and the owner who was cutting another patron's hair next to the woman cutting my partner's hair starting saying rude things about my partner in Vietnamese (basically that he was demanding for someone who didn't even bring cash), unbeknownst to her that I speak and understand Vietnamese. The barber Tien always cut me the way I wanted every single time it's crazy because nowadays you can't find someone who is consistent like that. If you have a certain style you want just show him a picture and he'll cut it like you want. IF you want safe show him a picture of front side and back safe , easy right ?. I permed my hair two months ago and decided to let my hair grow to see how I would look like. The sides and the back of my hair were getting too long and thick. The length of the sides was able to cover my ears, and I was able to tie a small ponytail on the back. I was like alright it's bugging me. I wanted to trim the sides and shorten my hair up front a little bit. I decided to give this place a try after doing some reviews. I walked in and it was not the owner whom customers complimented online, it was another lady. I knew this would go down south, so I explained as clearly as possible on how I wanted it. She started fading the sides and I checked. It seemed ok and to be a good start. Then I explained again that I just wanted my hair on top a tiny bit short. Nightmare came. She cut and trimmed my hair about at least 3 inches and completely changed my hair style. 90% of my permed hair was gone. I knew this would happen and I shouldn't have come. But it's too late. I let it go because I tried to look at the bright side and told myself I don't need a haircut in 3 to 4 months. So I let it go and it was okay to me. I didn't bother to really check my hair until this morning after washing it. The fade on the sides were uneven. The right side was a lot longer than the left and the hair was sticking out. I was pissed enough to cut the sides again by myself to make it even. I noticed she didn't even bother to look and check if the hair was even. she just kept on cutting and trimming. I was nice enough to say to her it looks okay at the moment. But once I found out the hair was uneven. It was not okay. The lady didn't follow my instruction and I felt like I wasted my money to perm my hair two months ago. One thing I could compliment on was the prices.
