Due to Covid-19 restrictions and sheltering in place, I've been exploring dessert shops and bakeries across the country online. I came across Sweet Shot Cookies on a cookie reviewer's Instagram, and what appealed to me were the stuffed cookies. I found my way to Sweet Shot Cookies' website and decided to get the OG 6 Pack Triple, which included double chocolate chip, s'mores, chocolate peanut butter + nutella, cinnamon sugar, PB&J, and funfetti. Not going to lie, the cookies I ordered were overall misses for me. As soon as the delivery arrived I had the s'mores and cinnamon sugar cookie straight out of the box. I did appreciate the packaging. The cookies were sealed securely, and none of them were broken. They tasted good, but I thought they were average at best. I was disappointed by how dense and hard they were, and the filling had seeped out of the s'mores. It was such a mess. I gave Sweet Shot Cookies the benefit of the doubt though. I assumed this happened during transit, plus it probably didn't help that it has been in the late 90s where I'm from in California. I really loved the stuffed cookies concept, and I had no doubt that Sweet Shot Cookies were better in-person when they're fresh. After my initial response, Hallie (the founder) reached out to me and offered to rectify my experience by reimbursing me AND sending me a fresh batch. I was really surprised by such kindness. I was so humbled that she went out of her way to do that, but most importantly I appreciated that she asked me questions to troubleshoot how to prevent similar issues from happening in the future. Not only was she so communicative and transparent, I felt that she was really trying to understand the situation rather than slap a band-aid on it. This spoke volumes to me of excellence in customer service. I was given the second chance to try out Sweet Shot Cookies, and I got to say that the first batch was a fluke, y'all. Sweet Shot Cookies are definitely the real deal! I sampled several of the cookies as soon as the package arrived in order to try them while fresh as possible. The s'mores cookie had redeemed itself! It was in perfect condition. The marshmallow filling was intact, and the cookie itself was ooey and gooey. I absolutely loved it, and I could easily put it in my top 5 of best s'mores cookies. Let me preface in saying that I don't particularly care much for funfetti/ sugar cookie with sprinkles. With that said, I didn't bother eating the butter sprinkle funfetti from the first order. I realized, however, that I did myself a disservice by not trying it. The butter sprinkle funfetti was actually my most favorite cookie of them all. It was so soft and buttery, and the iced filling was literally and figuratively icing on the cake. I felt like it was my birthday again. I also had the pleasure of trying the chocolate PB nutella, cinnamon cookie butter, sugar PB&J and triple chocolate. These cookies were equally as fantastic. They all tasted fresh, had soft and chewy textures, and maintained the integrity of their fillings. I can't wait to check out Sweet Shot Cookies next time I'm Chicago. I got some of these gourmet cookies for my son's birthday celebration for school. From the principal, teachers, staff and down to the kids, all of them raving these were the best cookies they ever had and wanted more!! Some said it was better than their grandmas! Yo, that is some high standards these cookies gotta beat and Sweet Shot cookies did it! We had a few foodie friends that loved it too and wanted to know where we got them. Of course we shared this hidden gem with them. The store has so many options and some with different topping/center filing. These cookies are indeed very good and hit a mark. We particularly loved any cookies that had chocolate and cookie butter. Definitely made with love and good ingredients. Every bite brings a sense of happiness and pure indulgence. While we had the mini versions and they were good. I can only expect the best selling cookies, classic or specialty packs would be amazing. I absolutely loved the goodies from here! The cookies reminded me of Levain cookies from New York with the softness, richness, and gooey middle parts. They aren't quite as big or thick but do have more interesting flavors. My favorite was the cookies & cream cookie. I could have eaten a dozen of those alone. It was so soft and had such rich Oreo flavoring that went down too easy. The dollop of cream on top was also very tasty and was a nice touch. The sugar PBJ was another favorite, equally soft and rich. I'm not a big chocolate fan so the rest of the items weren't that appealing to me but my family absolutely loved them. I was hosting a dinner party and one of my guest brought these from marianos. I think they can also be found at specialty grocery stores. The snickerdoodle was my favorite. It was warm and nutty with the speculose. The chocolate chip and birthday cake were both pretty sweet. Kind of like cake balls with the frosting in the middle. Ever since I discovered Sweet Shot Cookies on Instagram, I've been perpetually drooling. For the last few weeks, I've wanted to take a field trip from the suburbs to their store (no distance was going to keep me from this). This past Saturday I called ahead to place an order as I had a short window of time to pick them up. The cookies we selected were still in the oven and wouldn't be ready when I was downtown. Brad, one of the co-owners, was so kind and offered to deliver the cookies to my doorstep (in the northern suburbs) since he was making a delivery in a neighboring suburb. So thoughtful. As a cookie connoisseur, I have gone to several cookie retail shops and am consistently dissatisfied in what these locations are producing. SSC puts the quality of their cookie first and foremost.
