Service is fine, the workers were nice and helpful. The food didn't take too long and there was a good amount of seating that was pretty clean. It's also nice how it's close to the restroom so you can wash your hands easily. The menu was pretty small which surprised me - I think there were barely any food options. My friend and I got the famous cheese strips with salsa, pesto chicken sandwich, and a burger which totaled $39 (pricey, but not sure if this is just beach food standards). Pesto chicken was $15, the burger was $12, and cheese strips were $10. Chicken sandwich was definitely not worth it; the chicken was super dry and tough, but sourdough bread was good so that's something. The burger was a regular burger, nothing special, wish it came with fries. The cheese strips with salsa were honestly really good... I didn't think much of it at first because it's literally just tortilla chips, shredded cheese, and salsa, but honestly it worked so well together. Do I think it's worth the cost? Not really. Would I get it again? Yes. Overall, still a nice little shack next to the pier. Disappointing experience after the new management took over. I used to enjoy Dwight's, but the service and food quality have really gone downhill. I ordered the "Dwight's Way Fries" and was extremely disappointed. it was mostly onions with barely any fries. The few fries that were included were rock solid; I couldn't even get my fork through them. The wait time and customer service were also frustrating. After waiting about 15/20 minutes for my food, I politely asked how much longer it would be, and I can clearly see the cooks in the back became argumentative instead of being helpful. The overall atmosphere felt unorganized, and it seems like they go through employees very quickly, which may be affecting the experience. I hope the new management makes some changes because this place has potential, but my recent visit was not worth the money. read more

I was here for the official grand reopening. I ordered the world famous cheese strips. They did not disappoint. I had cheese with every bite and a pile of cheese to eat at the end. I really want to explore the menu next time because I love beach treats. They have a gift shop with cool beach related items. They also rent bikes and various items to make your day more fun. We purchased a Banana and Date Smoothie which tasted fine enough. However, it was only around 8 ounces small. For 12.95 you'd expect a little more; especially plus 1.00 dollar tax and 2.00 dollar gratuity bringing the total to 15.95! Normally I would just mark it up to beach pricing. But it really pee'd me off when they would not give me water in the empty Smoothie cup and told me I had to pay for bottled water! They have fountain drinks which machines have a water spout. After a few hours ofsurfing, I come here to eat. I love it. No wait, the food comes out quickly, and reasonable prices. It's a great food stand close to the beach and love that you don't have to leave the sandy beach area to get to some food. It's a peaceful atmosphere and it's kept clean.I love their hotdog! It comes out HOT and FRESH. It's a thicker sausage than your standard limp hotdog. There is also a condiments station where you can put relish on. I love relish with the dog. The previous burgers before the new management were much better, tastier, and never burnt! What a shame! This was truly disappointing. Everything was supercharred and burned. We were so excited to have Dwight's back expecting to pay a crazy amount for burgers, but it was worth it before. After they reopened, don't waste your money. Been a local and coming here for years. I've had many friends work here. Paid $14 dollars for 3 tenders today and they were terrible. One was not cooked and the rest were rubber. Not even edible. I kindly explained to them the situation, and they refused to give me a refund. Instead she offered to give me a discount on something else. This is the rightful heir to the strips and cheese legacy of HB. They use homemade chips and freshly-shredded cheese, which makes all the difference in the world. Zacks uses store-bought chips and pre-shredded cheese that has that gross powdery mouth feel. It's definitely worth the $2 more to get strips and cheese from Dwight's. As beach-side concessions go, Dwight's is clean, efficient, and has great staff. It's a little more expensive than Zack's, but so much better. read more

The new Dwight is absolutely awful, completely gentrified, nothing like how it used to be. Half the original menu is gone all the things that they used to be known for, also gone. Dwight's is located on the boardwalk near the Huntington Beach Pier. We stopped by after brunch at Duke's because our kids saw their giant "shaved ice" sign. My kids can't resist an opportunity for shaved ice! Their eyes turned as big as saucers when they saw how big the portions were, not that they minded at all. The ice itself is super crunchy though and not that easy to chip away at. They have your usual shaved ice flavors such as blue raspberry, cherry, strawberry, etc. read more

I first discovered this place back in the late 1970's My father and uncle were lifeguards for 17 years and they use to eat here back then. My brother and I loved this place and looked forward to eating here every summer. Then I was a JR lifeguard for 8 years in HB I visited this place all the time. Then I was an actual lifeguard for a year or two and again I got to eat here. Now I bring my kids here and they love the Strips & cheese. In fact it's safe to say my kids have the same awesome memories about this place just like my brother and I have. I remember watching the old man back in the 1980's drive his 1950's VW Bug up the bike trail every morning. Now his son is the old man and his kid is my age and runs Jack's snack bar a half mile south. Actually I think it's his kid that runs it now. 4 generations of people running two snack bars on the beach for over 75 years. Misleading description of Cheese Strips. I got taken in by the postings at location about the historically created cheese strips. How the owner created them from tortillas and cheese and the great sauce. The photo looked like it was heavily melted cheese so it looked enticing. Paid $7.50 for it. Got two sauces. This place has been around forever. I remember coming here in my teenage years and us kids would chip in money to buy a couple orders of chili cheese fries to share (2 orders were able to feed 4-5 of us back then, for under $5) while we hung out and tried to get girls' phone numbers. And when I say phone number, I mean their landlines. Oh how times have changed. One thing that hasn't changed are their food. Still the same old hot dogs, burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, ice cream, etc and of course their "World Famous" cheese strips, which I myself don't find all that special. What they are are basically tortilla chips with shredded cheese piled on and served with a tomatoe based sauce. People go crazy over them though... so it's not them, it's me. I think they also rent out bikes too. Not sure if they are the same owners or not, but connected to the same building as Dwight's is a stand for that, so that's convenient. They also have maybe 6 tables with umbrellas for you to enjoy your junk food at. My my recent trip, the food took forever though. Not sure why. Nobody was in front of me and there was a staff of at least 4 that I can see... and they were all working, not standing around doing nothing. So that was interesting. So bottom line, food isn't great but it'll hit the spot. Definitely recommend them only because they are cheaper than most of the other choices within walking distance, and it DOES have a lot of history there so it'll be cool to visit it in case that super valuable piece of land ever gets sold and who knows what will happen to this place. read more

An Icon. I grew up in Covina and was eating these strips and cheese at Dwight's in the 70's. They were here before nachos and that liquid cheese that became popular in the 80's. The sauce has not changed. It was exotic then but mild and tasty today. It complements the cheese and freshly cooked chips perfectly. When we moved here it was the first place we went once we unpacked. In the Summer I go there several times a week, get my strips and watch my son at Jr. Guards. He likes it better than Kocomo's.
