    Side Serving Of Hand-cut Fries

On this trip through Memphis we decided to stop and walk around downtown. This Memphis staple has been here since the early 1900s and I was told by a friend that this was one of the best burgers he's ever eaten. Well if you want a very moist burger this is the spot. Super juicy. Great cut fries and the onion rings were crispy and delicious

This place was good, but not worth the hype. I've heard it's "famous" and the best burgers. I wouldn't go that far. Glad we went on a Sunday afternoon so it wasn't busy and parking was close and free on the street. I like the diner look, but I was expecting more of an old school diner experience. Our waitress was nice and attentive. No issues there. The food was decent. They do not have a kids menu, but the single burger is maybe slightly bigger than a kids meal burger from McDonalds. The fries were nice. My husband got the chili cheese fries and while the chili tasted good, I personally felt there was way too much on the fries, so I'm glad I just got regular fries. It was all fine, just nothing to brag about other than the fact I can say I've been to the historic Dyers Burgers.

Dyer's Burgers on Beale Street serves up legendary patties cooked in century-old grease, giving them a one-of-a-kind flavor you won't forget. Add crispy fries and a thick, creamy shake, and you've got a true Memphis classic.

I've heard about this place for years, but had never been. I love places that have stood the test of time. But unfortunately, I didn't get much out of this place at all. 1. The burgers are deep fried. Yes. You hear it right; deep fried. The burger was ok at best. Nothing had this standing out as some fantastic or better burger. I've had tons of better burgers elsewhere. 2. Fried bologna sandwich was underwhelming. Not the best quality bologna in this sandwich....giving it a slightly ground bone texture. 3. Memphis Chili: the chili looked good and had a nice consistency. But there is some different spice...kinda resembles a burnt coffee taste....which is way forward and off putting to eat. I'm not a fan at all. 4. Fries were the best part of the meal. Get some salt in the fresh cut first...they were decent. 5. Service: terrible. The place wasn't even busy when we went. Had plenty of staff all around it appeared. But everything took for-ev-er! I hate to say it - but it's a place I never need to go back to.

Look, this review is completely affected by the fact that I went for a late dinner on St. Patrick's Day. It's probably one of the busiest days on Beale Street, and by 7pm people had clearly been celebrating for a while already. The result was that it took me over 45 minutes to get some food. The food is great- but not worth a 45 minute wait. That being said, if you could go to Dyer's on probably any other of the 364 days of the year you will probably have a great time. The burger was really special, and came with all the toppings including onions and pickles. The fries had some magical seasoning that was a little salty, a little sweet, but completely irresistible. Plus the restaurant is a cool throwback to another time. Try it out- as long as it's not really busy!

If you're a tourist in Memphis, this should on or near the top of your list of places to eat. In case you didn't know, Dyer's has been dishing up burgers for over a 100 years, so they must be doing something right. They claim that they have never changed their grease that they cook in. They strain it daily. And they will add to it as needed. But they never throw it out. I got the double burger with chili, fries, and a beer. I thought it was awesome. It tasted great and the fact that it was in one of Memphis's oldest institutions just made it even better. The service was friendly and fast. I imagine it can get busy at times. But when I dipped in on a Monday afternoon I darn near had the place to myself. Again, this is the type of spot that is unique to the city. I'd highly recommend checking it out.

Admittedly after walking in I asked to see the dessert menu and with a quick glance I knew I was staying for my last bite for the night. All the other restaurants around here had similar menus to the next which made it seemed almost hopeless. They were very busy. Seating seemed to be difficult with the constant flow of people sitting and enjoying their food then the employees quickly trying to turn tables for the next customer. The gentleman bussing tables did make it hard to sit for a moment after we finished our meal to enjoy. He quickly cleaned our table immediately after I had my last bite which sucked little. I saw him try to clear a table while a customer's kid still grabbing the remaining french fries from his basket of food. The waitresses were constantly moving, and I never saw them stop for a moment, waiting on customers and taking orders. Ours was so sweet. Fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a scoop of ice cream which called for me. And I was not disappointed. The ooey gooey PB&J with the crispy crust was delectable with a spoonful of homemade vanilla ice cream. I loved it so much that I entertain my curiosity of making fried PB and J sandwich at home.

I am a sucker for a gimmick so I wanted to try Dyer's burgers made with over 100 year old grease. I will say I am not a huge red meat fan so please keep that in mind for this review. I felt like the burger tasted like a "symphony of grease." You could definitely tell the flavor of it. It was a bit too much for me and I maybe finished half. I think if you're a fan of greasy burgers, you would love this place. I will say I appreciated how fast service was and how attentive our server (Glinda) was to our table. Our drinks were maybe halfway finished & she brought us more drinks. The atmosphere was a standard diner which I liked. It was pretty empty around 1:30pm on a cold Saturday which I didn't mind. Overall, a quick place to grab lunch if you're a burger fan. No real vegetarian options here.

Dyers is a Memphis must try. It's a great place to grab a quick greasy bite to eat to help soak up everything you drank at the clubs on Beale St. I ordered the double double (double meat and double cheese) combo which included fries and a drink. The double double is 2 patties and 2 slices of cheese along with pickles and onions on a soft bun. Dyers is special because they "deep fry" their hamburgers in 100 yr old oil - and I must say that it's absolutely delicious. Their fries were nothing special and to be honest a disappointment. They were very soggy and over salted. If you want to save some money I'd recommend just ordering the burger. Service was friendly but watch out for the bill if they charge you gratuity. I came in alone and ordered to go but they still charged a 2+ 20% gratuity which is fine since I'm on vacation and want to support the community but others might not be understanding and feel like they're taking advantage of tourists.

Customer service is lacking and even though they are the only ones locally I know of cooking burgers this way, it's nothing special.

They're always cooked fresh to order, served piping hot, and incredibly juicy. The burgers are medium-sized, but they also offer a double burger option. I usually choose the regular cheeseburger, but this time I tried the "Chiflet," made with Snake River Farms Wagyu beef and topped with applewood smoked bacon, egg, and American cheese on a potato bun. Absolutely delicious! They also feature a daily burger special, which keeps the menu interesting. The crinkle fries are consistently hot and pair perfectly with the burgers. On top of that, they offer a great selection of both imported and domestic beers. The staff is always super friendly. Overall, it's a great spot to grab a burger, hang out, and enjoy the atmosphere.

Our server Becky was very friendly and helpful. The place has tables and chairs and high top tables too. The bar is dark but they do have some picnic tables near the entrance for more light. Bathrooms were clean and had a lot of personal signatures and art. I am going to return to get a different kind of burger.

Later during the meal, he admits that Momma's is one of his spots, so that's saying a lot. It sort of looked like another bar/restaurant from the outside, but they have a nice outdoor patio overlooking an old decrepit building which is at least some scenery. Once inside, you'll quickly see it's highly decorated and has a claim to be one of the only trucker themed bars in the US. Inside is decked out to the ceilings with signs, neon, old mirrors, collectibles, and many other items. I swear it looks like it's been in business for 30+ years, but my client said only a couple of years. I looked over the basic menu and saw burgers, breakfast, salads, sandwiches, a famous pork chop, wings and a few other items. The client and my colleague quickly ordered devilled eggs, cheese curds, and chili cheese fries. The first two apps were really good, I didn't try the fries though. They had a burger of the day, and a food special of the day, but I settled on the wings. With those I chose the 10 pc, Buffalo with dry rub, smoked. Kind of a weird combination since most people usually order dry here apparently, but I like saucy wings. When they come out, they are huge and I knew I wouldn't be able to finish them. I think I could only eat 6-7. My colleague had a ribeye steak salad which was a protein bomb he loved, and my 2 clients ordered a big rig grilled cheese which he also loved and a fried chicken sandwich (firebird) which looked really good. Overall, I really liked this place and it's one of the best meals I've had in Memphis the handful of times I've visited.
