This was a pleasant surprise. We were looking for a place for lunch in the middle of the week & stumbled upon The Majestic Grille. The atmosphere is supper club like with it being a little dark. We sat & ate at the bar. The bartender/server was enjoyable. She was professional with a little sass. The food was delicious. We had the daily ravioli special & the deluxe grilled cheese. Would not recommend. The food is mediocre. My friends and I have gone off and on for years after our Orpheum show mostly because it is walkable from the theater and they always had a theater menu. Today we were told that the theater menu is only for evening show patrons. When the checks came the waitress mixed up our bills. Rather than make a big deal, I just gave my friend the cash to make it right. Upon leaving, I accidentally left my souvenir cup from the Orpheum on the table. Not 3 or 4 minutes later upon realizing I left it, I returned and asked our waitress about it. She said the table was cleared and the cup was thrown away without even offering to check. I've gone to The Majestic Grille a number of times across the year (surprised I hadn't reviewed it by now) and one thing they are is consistent. It's just that it's consistently average. I love the ambiance and the vibe of the place; it's pretty neat how it used to be a theatre, and they have kept presence of that history in the place. Beyond that, there's very little that pushes me to really want to go to this place, while at the same time acknowledging that I don't find myself being negative if a friend or someone else picks here. The food is decent, the service is really hit or miss, and I've always found them to be quite slow ... so it just hits average for me. Returned to the Majestic for Sunday brunch after a really pleasant dining experience the last time I was here. Always a fan of eggs Benedict anytime I'm ordering brunch. Separately, each element was tasty....so I don't truly know how to describe what was wrong. The egg was soft, but there was no "run" when I cut into it. Speaking of cutting, either I need to learn how to use a knife, the knife was incredibly dull, or the English muffin was tough (even though it chewed fine). I was torn between giving The Majestic Grille a three or a four stars! The food was incredible, but we did have to wait a pretty long time for our food! They were able to seat us immediately after we called and got a reservation, but once we ordered it took a long while for them to come! The restaurant is beautiful! They have lots of seating. On the menu, they also write a summary about the history of the restaurant which is very interesting to read about. The portions also seemed pretty small for what you paid for. We ended up eating pretty much all of our food. I shared the salmon and salad with a friend, and we really enjoyed it. The salad was very fresh, it just seemed to be on the smaller side! However, someone else in our party got the Shrimp and Scallop Spaghettini and they were not very impressed. They did enjoy the Grilled Pork Tenderloin though! Our server was great! He was super conversational and made sure we had everything we needed. They do add gratuity in for larger parties, so be sure to check your bill before adding it on again! Beautiful restaurant in a former theater which I was also told was a recording studio frequented by Elvis, and a distillery at different times. I had the Cajun chicken eggrolls, recommended by the friendly bartender Ana. They were delicious, definitely house made with a great sauce on the side. I went back and forth between three and four stars, and decided to round up. I stopped in for lunch, and having perused the menu before I came, I was ready to roll when my server came up. I thought he was kind of oddly formal for a place with plastic cups, but I wouldn't say unfriendly. I ordered the salmon blt with the remoulade on the side. That ended up being a good decision, as the remoulade just tasted like a bland burger sauce, and I am unreasonable in my distaste for mayo. It had no zip, it was just ... blah. The salmon was cooked well, but the fish wasn't seasoned, which was a disappointment. The sandwich was on a lightly toasted bun, with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. Even without the sauce, had it been seasoned it would have been great, it just didn't quite get there. The fries are shoestring style and come with a bit of Parmesan to make it fancy. They were alright. I didn't see my waiter again until I was finished. I thought $17 for a salmon sandwich is fair. The quality and size of the fish was good. I thought the decor was great. I loved that it used to be an old movie theater. It has vibes. I think this is a pretty good option if you are in Memphis, looking for something other than bbq. They have a nice patio right on the trolley line, when the weather is good. read more

Came here on a Sunday with a group of girlfriends. We had a reservation and upon arrival we were shown to a room with 1 table away from the rest of the restaurant. The main attraction of this establishment is the ambience so it was a disappointment to be placed away from the ambience. We came in May, yet were presented with a drink menu that still featured the Christmas beverages, which was very disrespectful to the customer in my opinion. Even on the online menu it is not updated. Why would you even give that to a customer? We ordered some off menu drinks and the glasses they came in were interesting... martini glass was the size of a Barbie glass. A margarita is $21, are the limes flown in daily from the Florida Keyes? What is the reasoning behind that pricing? The food we ordered did come out in a timely manner but nothing was special. I think you could definitely skip this restaurant. There are a lot more restaurants in Memphis that have better flavors and interesting drink options. read more

This was SUCH A COOL PLACE to have dinner. Supposedly it used to be an old theater which you can believe based on the layout. We were seated immediately on a Wednesday evening. They play a movie on the big screen but had a strangely placed palm tree right between my eye level and the screen so I couldnt' see much of anything. GF expressed disappointment that she couldn't watch the movie because she likes it. I reminded her that perhaps they were assuming the patrons would want to talk to each other instead. The service was wonderful. They have a nice cocktail menu. I ordered the ranch water which I was told was very strong. I didn't find it so and I am a lil bitch. It tasted very similarly to water. It was ok, nothing to knock my socks off but I have an immature palate and unless it's sweet or strongly flavored, the socks are staying on. For her drink, GF ordered a manhattan. "It was good" she says. For our food, GF ordered oysters, fries, and spinach. I ordered a salad and ravioli (I was thrilled to see a vegetarian entree, literally one of the only ones I had seen for days prior on our vacation). Regarding her meals, GF says, "it was good, too". I tried some of her fries which were crispy and topped with that parmesan and parsley business. They were EXCELLENT. Very high quality fries. The salad was great. Very fresh ingredients. Very enjoyable all around. The ravioli was exceptional. There were some sun dried tomatoes and spinach in there with a very delectable creamy tomato sauce. Heavenly. Didn't leave one 'oli to spare. For dessert, they provide these little almost like small old fashion glasses of different desserts, which is interesting. I recall a key lime pie, tiramisu, carrot cake, probably cheesecake. They're small and you can get them in a flight. This is very interesting and I like this idea. Some people don't need a massive slab of cake on a plate. The only bad thing is we are bring-dessert-home-for-later bitches and they don't offer that. I had the carrot cake, which was good. read more

Came here because they were the only place that was open on a Monday late afternoon. I arrived from my flight starving and everything else was either closed or looked really gross. I love the atmosphere in this place felt as if I went back in time to the 1940s. I ordered the salmon and a Caesar salad and both were very tasty. I enjoyed my dinner thoroughly. The only thing that was not very good was the cappuccino. The milk was cold and it tasted a little off, but other than that, it was a delicious meal and the service was great. read more

We had the pleasure of dining at both The Majestic Grille and their sister restaurant, Cocozza, and to say they were amazing would be an understatement! The atmosphere at The Majestic Grille is like nothing else, and the entire staff works together to make the experience absolutely perfect. From the food to the service, everything was top-notch. Cocozza has become our favorite place to eat whenever we are in Memphis. Their Italian food is absolutely incredible--honestly, it is the closest we have found to the Italian food we experienced while traveling to Italy. We have also had the pleasure of getting to know the owners, Patrick and Deni, and they truly are some of the best people we have ever had the chance to meet. Thank you, Patrick and Deni, for everything you have done for our family. You have welcomed us, loved on our girl Laken, and treated us like family from day one. We are truly blessed and lucky to be able to call y'all a part of our family. All of the staff at both restaurants are absolutely amazing people, and it has been such a pleasure getting to know each and every one of them. Got stuck on jury duty, so decided to make downtown dining adventure. Took a nice walk, doing brisk lunch business on the mall. Greeted and seated promptly. Staff friendly and helpful. Food delicious. Only issue was background music was a little loud. Will be back to try dinner. read more

A Perfect Birthday & Valentine's Weekend Dinner! We visited Majestic Grille on Friday, February 13th, and wow--are we glad we found this gem! We're from out of town and decided to celebrate my birthday and Valentine's weekend in Memphis. Our original restaurant choices were fully booked (I'd been on waitlists for weeks!), so we canceled those plans and got a list of recommendations from a museum we visited earlier that day. That's when Majestic Grill caught my eye--just a few minutes from our downtown hotel. We called ahead to check availability since most places were packed for Valentine's weekend. A wonderful gentleman answered and assured us he could get us a table. When we arrived, we were seated immediately--such a pleasant surprise! From there, everything was exceptional. Our server, Macy, was FANTASTIC! My partner doesn't drink, and she offered to have a mocktail made for him, while I enjoyed the "Clover Club"--perfectly crafted and delicious. Great start! We shared the Charcuterie Board as an appetizer, and it was so good that we finished every bite. For our entrées, we both ordered the 16 oz ribeye--mine with a blue cheese crust and his with peppercorn. Both were cooked to absolute perfection, and the sides were just as amazing. The atmosphere was top-tier--the lighting and ambiance made the experience even more special. Coupled with outstanding service, this was truly a memorable dining experience. It was already tossed in some of the best cesar dressing I have had when it arrived. I was expecting the pork tenderloin to be pretty savory despite the glaze, but it was overwhelmingly sweet which I wasn't a huge fan of. However, the quality and cooking of the meat was great. This review was going to give five stars across the board until I discovered I was automatically charged gratuity for a party of two. I've worked in restaurant management a number of years and never have I ever allowed someone to auto grat a small party. This was clearly a situation where the server, Tim with the locs, ASSUMED he wouldn't be tipped. My partner and I are content creators and we wanted to bless someone this holiday season and Tim was so friendly. The idea to give him a little extra was thrown out the window once I saw he automatically charged a gratuity and didn't even tell us. This is dishonest and disappointing. The auto gratuity was less than what we were tipping, but it was the principle that ruined it. If you plan on dining at this restaurant please be aware. Their policy says FIVE or more yet our table of two was auto charged. read more

Drove through and stayed the night in Memphis. Chose the Majestic as it was close to our hotel and the menu had a variety of choices. It did not disappoint! Dallas was our server and he made some suggestions for us that were excellent! Had the pork tenderloin and absolutely loved it. I tend to drink a lot (water, tea) when I eat and he kept my glass full. The vibe and music fit perfectly with the style of the restaurant and when they played Duke Ellington, it just made the night perfect! Cocktails were great too! First the good -the restaurant is nice and clean. The food tasted good- nothing special but no complaints and actually the grits were very good. Now the not so good- our server was ok - that said, we had to chase down utensils and then he forgot to bring the jelly I had asked for up front so had to wait on that, then forgot to bring the sugar I asked for with the coffee. He was pleasant but didn't check up on us - at one point I had to send someone else to go get him. The prices were ok - not cheap but not overly expensive with the exception of two things- the side order of grits was $6.00 - which would have been fine since they were very good- but the serving size was very small- like a small cup. The most outrageous however was the side of toast- which consisted of a single slice of regular bread - it was $4.00. I asked the manager about the pricing on a single slice of toast and he agreed that was very high but said there was nothing he could do about it other than passing this comment along to the owners. There is a mandatory 20 percent tip on all checks so that single slice of bread was $4.80 - come on! I would probably go back but I won't order toast or grits again and I might ask for a different waiter. read more

My family and I enjoyed another delicious meal at Majestic Grille last night. The restaurant is elegantly appointed all year long but absolutely gorgeous at Christmas Time! Andrea was our server last night and she was a true joy. She was well versed on the food and drink menu and walked us through the specials and recent menu changes with ease. She was attentive throughout dinner. Our food was delicious: Scallop and shrimp spaghettini for me, Grilled cheese for hubby Roasted half chicken for kiddo +Cajun chicken egg rolls to start +Mini desserts to end (we had lemon cheesecake (megh), tiramisu (yum) and strawberry shortcake (yum yum). With little options in the small town of Mississippi I was in, our group headed to Memphis with this restaurant recommended. It was very dark in there and hard to see, maybe that's the intention but made eating a bit of a struggle the waiter was kind, professional, and quick. He also had a great head of curly hair! Here's where I got lost- the food was meh and overpriced for meh. The amount I paid- I was expecting to be blown out the water. That just didn't happen. It wasn't bad just not wort what I paid. I was also disappointed with how small the menu options were. My tastebuds and wallet landed on the shrimp and scallop pasta which wasn't too bad. Just wish it had more flavor for what I paid. Steak sounded good but looking at my coworkers plates- I was glad to have not chosen it. Might give this place another go next time I'm visiting but with how meh it was- I just may forget. read more

Yelp never lets me down. I needed a place for lunch before a conference and this popped right up so my co-worker and I headed there for a bite. The staff was so friendly that we immediately felt welcome. The inside is very nicely designed and I liked the bar area, the lower seating area as well as the balcony dining. It all looked functional and cool. The food was great as well. I had a chicken sandwich that was very tasty. It was piping hot and a generous portion to boot. The accompanying fries were also tasty. To top it off, lunch prices were extremely affordable. Comparing to New York City, it was a bargain! I'm sad I didn't have the chance to go back for dinner, as the menu looked great and I would have loved to try a cocktail or two. Definitely a place to check out. read more
