After patronizing this place for a while, I was asked not to come back to this store. Naturally I was curious as to why they would do this to a repeat customer. I was told that I had made an employee uncomfortable- by flirting with them!! I was gobsmacked as to why anyone would think that. I'm a talker- I talk to everyone I meet the same way, but this person thought I was flirting with them. Perhaps they have too much main character energy to think that. Perhaps they found my chattiness annoying- not everyone is going to be delighted by me- but why, WHY would they not just tell me they were busy and couldn't talk? Did they feel they were being held hostage? I saw Standard Goods as a neighborhood spot. Keep in mind I wasn't camping out at the store; I'd say my average visit was -20 minutes, and I wasn't there frequently. This just doesn't make any sense to me. I'm forced to consider the possibility they felt ill at ease around me due to my disablity- I'm legally blind and my eyes look different, some people aren't comfortable with that that's their problem. Even if that's not the case, it still really hurt when they asked me not to come back. What is this, high school? Yes, I cried. They made me feel like my presence was a nuisanc. It left an impact. question whether people want me around. There were so many other ways they could have dealt with it and at the same time keep in mind that I was a customer with feelings. I get the distinct sense that they don't care about customers or the community. It's good for managers to take their employees' concerns seriously- Just not like this. Maybe they are extremely nonconfrontational, yet there must have been another way to addrss this without banning me from the store.

If you're looking for just about everything from a formal top hat to a skimpy leather outfit, some designer shoes or a knife you'd see in Underworld, they've probably got it. It feels uniquely Seattle and it was a fun place to spend 20 minutes! We were looking for a hat specifically as it was stereotypically raining outside. The selection was rather vast and included bowlers hats, townie type caps and some boss level top hats! In the back, we even found an American flag themed Fedora for $5 - Win! There is not a single size large or above of any item out on display at the store. I went with my friend on Saturday and the whole experience was off putting. Lots of local artists and items are for sale, as well as fair trade international items. I go here when I'm shopping for a gift and find both that and a fun thing for me as well. This store is full of cute items and it's a happiness boost when you need it on a dreary Seattle day. Highly recommend stopping by and go back frequently since new items are added all the time.

My experience is that they leave you alone to shop but will help if you ask. They don't ooze with chitchat - but are helpful. Yes you have to make an appointment to consign but that doesn't seem like a reason to give a 1-star rating. They have an easy consignee portal where you can check the status of your clothing and sales.

However, I would think return customers would be your bread and butter. I will not be returning as a result of this return policy. (Pun fully intended.) As I walked in, there were three ladies chatting, one or more that worked there, that glared at me and didn't ask if I had any questions and continued their conversation. I don't want to presume what was going through their heads, but judging by the looks I received, I can't be for certain. They had no idea why I was in there. I could've been there to buy something for a friend, in my case, thinking that there might be some men's clothes there, etc. is disappointing that West Seattle small business seems to have forgotten traditional business practices of welcoming, whoever walks through their door.
