Lovers of Chinese buffets will find themselves at home at Dynasty Buffet. The dining room skirts the large serving area where a seemingly endless array of food warmers reside. After we were shown to a table, things proceeded in a predictable manner. A waitress took our drink orders, then encouraged us to help ourselves to the buffet. There was a huge selection. All the American-Chinese staples: mongolian beef, General Tso's chicken, crab rangoon; then there were several American staples: beef ribs, mac & cheese, pizza; there was ALSO a Mongolian grill where you can put uncooked food on a plate and a cook will prepare it in front of you; finally, there was a WIDE variety of dessert. I LOVED the actual ice cream stored in a cooler in the corner. That could be where I recouped the cost of lunch. Three scoops: chocolate, strawberry, and mint chocolate chip. So good. The rest of the food was adequate, if not memorable. Overall I enjoyed the Dynasty Buffet. I felt that the price point was consistent with similar establishments, especially considering the wide variety of food available. I just Don't agree with most of the reviews of this restaurant. A fair portion of the buffet Food wasn't fresh as it should have been at 6:45 PM. Staff made it a priority to clean the floor and get ready for closing time instead of clearing my empty plates. I wasn't offered a refill on my drink and had to wait about 15 minutes after finishing dessert to get my bill. I guess if you're just wanting to stuff your gut till you burst, then go here. If you would rather have a positive dining experience, there's a ton of other restaurants within walking distance that are better choices. read more

Good food. Ok, so the buffet never changes. But the food is always warm and plenty of it. At 4 o'clock they put snow crab legs and oysters on the half shell on the buffet....awesome! Their sushi isn't too bad either. It's made of the more "nonexotic" foods so you can stomach it. They even have a few items for kids(ex; pizza, cheese sticks). Probably the best Chinese Buffet of it's kind in the Quad Cities area. I've only been there for weekend dinners when it's packed and the buffet needed to be restocked regularly, so in my experience, it's always been fresh food. Pretty good selection, and the crab legs were cooked just right (compared to the dry crab legs on the buffet at Jumers casino) although they don't restock them like they should. I believe they let it go empty long enough to discourage people from abusing it, but then sometimes you go a long time waiting for them to bring it out before you can get your first plate. I'll be honest, when this restaurant first opened, I was not impressed. It took two people I knew and trusted telling me the food was great for me to give it a second chance. I am so glad I did! My daughter and I stopped in for the $7.99 lunch buffet. This is by far the absolutely worst buffet for flavor. Almost everything is watered done. The hot and sour soup you can not taste the broth nor the spice or sour. The egg drop soup just tasted like yellow water. Crab Rangoon. I loved the fact that they trimmed the dough however there was absolutely no cream cheese flavor let alone the crab. The peanut butter chicken, sesame chicken and green beans did have good flavor. But they definitely need to work on the rest. I understand that people waste a lot of food so they thin it out a little. But that was way to much. read more

Usually come to Dynasty Buffet because I love the peanutbutter chicken. Late evening we ate there and the service was horrible, and a lot of the food was horrible. Outstanding and varied selection. Quality seemed to exceed expectations. Stay was very friendly and attentive with one notable exception. They have a habchi grill set up as well as a station for steaks. We were never able to get anyone for the steaks and noticed a lot of people waiting with no one to be seen at the habachi grill. They have sushi, several different meats and a wide variety of sides and desserts. There should be something there for every taste including the most finicky youngster. OMG I ate SO much here! Nice assortment. They had typical appetizers (egg rolls, mozz sticks, crab rangoon, etc.), nice spread of meat dishes (including brisket and salmon plus your expected kung-pao chicken, beef and broccoli, etc.etc.), and everything you'd expect. Only a few vegetable dishes that were sauteed. Overall most foods were sweet and greasy, but that's kind of what I expect from a buffet. Sushi was the highlight, they had a nice assortment. It was fresh and delicious! I ate 2 plates of it alone, yum! Dessert table looked nice, though I didn't sample it. The staff was attentive, they kept our table clean and refilled our waters multiple times. We were seated right away and they checked on us to make sure we were enjoying everything. If you've ever had real quality chinese food or seafood stay away from this buffet. If you like freezer food or cold foods (that are supposed to be served hot) then this place is for you! I have lived in the Quad City area for the last 25 years now and always went to Dynasty Buffet Restaurant on the weekends for lunch with my kids and husband. Never had an issue with the food nor the staff. Today was a completely different experience for us. Their lunch time starts at 4pm, and not realizing the time we walked in at 3:45pm. They asked us if we were there for lunch or dinner, we said lunch! We were seated and drinks were served. Had no idea there that was some one watching us from a far! I only grabbed the "lunch" items, but my husband picked up one extremely salty fried catfish that apparently belonged to "dinner." Suddenly, the manager runs up to our table and is badgering us about that one piece of fish, saying that now we are going to have to charge you the dinner price. Then looks over at me and asks if I took anything from the dinner pans. I told him I only grabbed the lunch items, but what was the big deal!?! He then says that he'll just go ahead and charge us the dinner price instead! The waitress kept trying to interrupt, but he kept barking at her in Mandarin. I felt horrible for her! He was so loud about it! It was so embarrassing! We left shortly after because of feeling uncomfortable about the whole incident! I called back up there to speak to the owner and got an ear full front the manager claiming her was the manager and how he didn't care about how he acted since he's trying to run a business. HORRIBLE This used to be a good buffet. We drove from Cedar Rapids and Des Moines to eat here as we have on multiple occasions over the past couple of years. This time it was definitely NOT worth the drive. . We had to ask for silver ware twice. The waiter never brought it so had to go to hostess stand to get it. He took our drink order, writing it on his hand, so professional. Could barely speak English. Milk-served room temperature-GROSS One of the boiled eggs out of the three taken from the salad bar was rotten. Crab legs-cold and one leg had terrible grit in the meat. Butter for crab was rancid. Crab-meat Rangoon-rubbery. Vegetable Low Mein so over salted it was not edible. Fried Doughnuts over cooked resulting in hard texture on the bottoms. Sushi was room temperature....again---GROSS. Asked for a med-rare steak from the grill....told 4 minutes. Waited. It was cooked much longer than 4 minutes and was over cooked and had some terrible flavor on it. Pears from fruit bar tasted like lemons. The only good thing I tasted was the free fortune cookie when the waiter brought the bill, which needed to be split because he never bothered to communicate with us during our meal. My brother and I went here for dinner tonight, (December 5th, 2017) around 6 O' Clock. The food was fine and we had no issues until we were done eating. We were told payment was taken at the table but our server never came around. It wasn't until we started to put our coats on and head up to the front that she waved us down and told us she'd bring it. This is where I experienced the worst customer service of my life. She had me fill out the receipt and as i started to write she hovered over my shoulder trying to watch me write the tip amount. I was in shock, but assumed maybe she was looking for something to clean on the table. As i finished writing she pointed at my tip amount and began to tell me that it was not enough and that i needed to give her more. I was in complete disbelief. I told her that was the amount that i wanted to give and she shook her head at me and told me it was not enough. We walked out. Here's where it gets even worse. I call the manager and tell him about my bad experience, the first thing he says in response is "Did you give her more?" as if my tip amount to the waitress is above my service and experience. I told him, no of course not. I then preceded to ask him how he would make this right and he told me he would talk to the waitress in question, i asked him if there was anything else he could do to rectify the situation and he hung up on me. Take a look at the reviews on this page, I am not alone in these exact same experiences. The servers and the managers are extremely rude and it costs a near fortune to eat here to begin with. family took me for mothers day and ive been stuffed ever since, pretty good for chinese.. kidding! Service was great hostess was very quick on seating us and our frazzled young gentlemen deserved every bit his tip (even though its not required)we couldnt resist.. He was very dilligent and polite even for being so busy, oh yes the food is delicious, love the dumplings,crab ragoon and now my new favorite frog legs!!!!. My daughter enjoyed the sushi bar the husband always has the crab legs!!! They will cook any raw ingredients fresh on the hibachi grill (also a delightful person to talk too), plenty of fruit, and desserts. the kids were loving the ice cream and it was all very reasonably priced, you can make as many trips your stomach can handle!!! This use to be one of our favorite places to go. Although the last few times we went it was disgusting. The food had been sitting and was old. It is very expensive for the quality of food you get. I took maybe two bites and was done! So yes they have a huge selection but what's the point when it's gross! Then to top it all off I looked at my bank acct and they changed my tip and added more. Which was way over 20% because I always tip way more than normal. So I will never ever go there again just based on the dishonesty of the staff. Of all the Chinese buffets in the quad-cities, this is probably the largest and most consistent. All your favorites are here along with a few unique items (tempura veggies are great!). The salad and dessert areas are much larger than other buffets and the addition of a Mongolian grill sets this restaurant apart from the others. I travel and visit a lot of Chinese buffets. This one delivers solid performance with very fresh food.

Its really a 2.5 , but I gave it a three. Ive been there 6 times, I go for the sushie and mongolian stir fry and some salad. They really need to seat the folks with more than one child in the big room in the back. Its always 15 degrees too hot in there, The wait staff is better than good. LAst time I was there I saw a couple loading up her handbag with stuff to take home and reported it, they didn't seem to care. Its close to call but I think its the best buffett in the quad cities, because of the variety and clenliness, the bathrooms are always clean. and its appreciated. read more

The food is good, service is spotchy. My waitress never once asked how my meal was, never once asked to refill my drink, she simply set down a Broken fortune cookie, the receipt, and walked away. Every few moments she would walk by and stare. She made it a point to ask other tables, but just stare at me after I had asked for a to go box and was told no. I spoke with the manager, and he stated do not expect good customer service from a Chinese buffet restraunt. If you want good customer service go somewhere else.
