Food - super average Cantonese food, overall flavor also on the sweet side. Got the braised beef shank they recommended (I would not get that again). Duck was kind of dry. They recommended the fried rice as well super average fried rice not worth the price or experience. Out of the dishes I ordered enjoyed the shrimp vermicelli and the tofu the most Service - normal Ambiance - Chinese restaurant vibes

Our large party pre ordered an entire suckling pig and added a mix of seafood and other proteins for a very satisfying meal. The portions are generous, so be prepared. The suckling pig itself was delicous but very rich, so a single person can only have some before tapping out. The dungeoness crab was my personal favorite. Service was a bit slow, as only a single server was helping us through the night. She was also helping other tables and forgot to give us waters for a while. The restaurant also served dishes at a sedated pace, which seems odd for a cantonese spot.

Date of visit: 7/4/2024 Absolute 5 stars for the crab dish I ordered! I should've come here for the dimsum, but instead I went to 2 diff restaurants and not liking both of them. So here I was for dinner instead. Ordered 4 things: - shark fin soup: yum! - Dungeness Crab in Typhoon Shelter Style over sticky rice (I think this is the name; the one with rice cake). MUST ORDER! Now, I've had many crab dishes in my life but this is the first time I had crab cooked this way and I thought it's sooo good!! - tofu in salt & pepper: not exactly what we had in mind but tasted truly not bad - shrimp & scallop in French style: I should've asked what is French style before ordering. I didn't like it. It's basically honey mustard sauce. What a waste of good seafood. Will def come back when I'm back in Vancouver, most likely to try the dimsum.

Food - Great selection of dimsum, everything that came out was very tasty and not overly salty or sweet. Ambiance - Small to medium table seating, well lit and very bustling. Service - Even though they were fully booked and we didn't have a reservation they were able to accommodate us very quickly and get us our food with no hiccups at all.

We have tried different dim sum spots three days in a row, and I could confidently say Dynasty is my favorite. The quality even surpasses most of the dim sum spots in Hong Kong, and are close to those served at five star hotels. The food portion here might not be as gigantic as other spots, but every dim sum is exquisite and carefully crafted with unique flavor layerings. The price point is steep (Richmond price) but you get what you pay for. The environment is comfy and spacious with a nice harbor view. They also offer 20% off if you leave before 11am. Incredible deal for a Michelin restaurant. The Shrimp & Beet Dumpling (紅菜頭海皇粿) was a dim sum I've never seen before. It was so unique and delicious. Also strongly recommend the Baked Char Siu Lemon Pie (檸檬叉燒酥) -- I always get char siu pastries but sometimes find them too greasy. The lemon peels and sauces mixed with the char siu fillings gave a refreshing zesty flavor to balance out the oiliness. For dessert, you must get the Black Sesame Sago Pudding (酥皮芝麻焗西米布甸). The black sesame lava exceeded my expectation! Every scoop was sheer satisfaction. Vancouver really takes dim sum to a whole new level.

While visiting Vancouver last month, a friend and I had lunch at Dynasty on a Sunday at noon with reservations. We were seated on time and ordered the following: - shrimp dumplings - pork suimai - turnip cake - baked BBQ pork pie with lemon - black sesame sago pudding Everything was absolutely delicious! The shrimp dumplings had a delicate wrapper encasing meaty, plump shrimp. The pork suimai were flavorful and juicy. Turnip cake was pan fried nicely and had ample pieces of Chinese sausage and large chunks of turnip throughout. The baked BBQ pork pie with lemon were flakey with nice balance of savory and citrusy; the lemon balances the richness of the pork. And the black sesame sago pudding was the perfect blend of nutty and sweet with a butter pastry top. Living in San Francisco, California with a plethora of dim sum places and also eating plenty from my several Hong Kong visits, I'd say Dynasty is up to par for quality. The restaurant is spacious, bright, and clean. Great for large groups, and I highly recommend making reservations!

This place deserved a higher rate. The service was superb. The hot and sour seafood soup was so good, and the fried crab claw with shrimp paste was awesome! Highly recommend.

This place wasn't bad- good food but a little underwhelming and a bit more pricier for dimsum for the quality. Not terrible but not amazing either.

Great authentic Chinese restaurant in heart of Vancouver Pros - wide variety of food selection and very large portions for family sharing. Excellent and speedy service. The green onion and ginger crab was absolutely delicious. The roasted duck was also amazing. Cons - none! Great place for an authentic Chinese family dinner. There are great selections for everyone and plenty of food to take home afterwards.

The char siu so comes in 3s I just had already eaten by the the time I took this picture (oops )!

Ambience: 1/1 Service: 0.5/1 Food: 1/3 Dynasty provided a very comfortable, nice dining experience with a variety of options. However the food was definitely not up to par - every item that I got was either extremely bland or had an overwhelming instead of complementary conflicting flavour. They also charge you for tea and even to get hot water which they do not inform you beforehand. From reading other reviews I was already expecting the charge on the tea and accepted that. However my tea had been sitting too long and was oversaturated so I asked for hot water to dilute it, and I found out I was charged $1 for that at the end when I got my bill. Overall I would not recommend coming here. For the same price there is another Chinese restaurant a couple blocks away with a well-deserved Michelin Bib Gourmand award (Seaport City) that I had visited not too long ago that is a 5/5 (I posted a Yelp review for that restaurant as well). I was debating between the two since they were both close by and decided to try out Dynasty since I'd never been here before. Next time I would not make the same mistake and would definitely head to Seaport City instead.

Great dim sum. We didn't realize this restaurant is Michelin guide rated, and it's worth the recognition - the dim sum is made-to-order and tastes both fresh and authentic. Service is also quick and efficient. We were only slightly disappointed that they didn't serve rice rolls here (I've never experienced a dim sum restaurant that doesn't serve it!). The dishes were also a bit pricier than expected, but they seem to be around average for Vancouver. The wait outside the restaurant was long by noon on a Saturday. Definitely make a reservation if possible.

One of the best chinese restaurants in Vancouver for dinner. A lot of chinese restaurants have gone downhill, especially after covid. You would think since there are so many options, providing higher quality with the new pricing would be everyone's goal but it isn't. The ambiance here is very classy and it is always busy with great, friendly staff. My friend always orders the "good stuff" so I don't have to worry, I just come with an empty stomach. I'm a big fan of the tapioca pudding dessert and there's is hand downs, the best. There is street parking and underground parking so there's never an issue finding a spot. If you pay downstairs, just remember to keep your ticket as they will reimburse you. This place has become a staple for us when we want to do group gatherings. Call ahead to book a table and order if you want the special items. I highly recommend coming if you've never been!

We came into Dynasty for a Wednesday morning Dimsum. The service was great and very accommodating to what we needed when we ordered more food. The food was tasty with a very clean and light taste.

A variety! Sticky rice in lotus leaf, shrimp dumpling, pork ribs, chicken feet, egg yolk bun, bbq pork bun...

She wanted to go to Kirin. Plenty of parking in the mall. Hostess greeted and seated us promptly. Restaurant was busy but not crazy. This was at 10am on a Thursday. Waiters were attentive. Usual table service was in place. Took our order and food came out at acceptable pace. When we were done, they politely boxed up the leftovers and we paid our bill. So service was on point. The food we ordered came out hot. The staples that I order to test was hargow, suimai and pai gwut(spareribs). All 3 dishes in general were good.....the hargow could have used an extra minute or 2 in the steamer. The suimai was very good. I tasted every ingredient in this dish. Usually it is just a complete mix and you can't discern the different flavors. They tried something different with the cheongfun by adding pieces of Chinese donut to the roll. I personally think it didn't add much to the dish, taste or texture wise. I did like the pea shoots with shrimp. I think it is a good combo. All in all a good dimsum. I also noticed they did not charge us a tea service. The cost of the food is comparable with other restaurants at this level. New Town Bakery is one of those Chinatown staples that feels like a rite of passage in Vancouver…read more We headed there for breakfast, excited for pastries and a classic bakery experience, and decided to dine in. Once we sat down and were handed the full menu, though, I had a brief moment of panic. The menu is huuuge and varied, plus none of the items I had mentally planned on ordering were on there. We pivoted and ordered pork siu mai, congee, look fun noodles, and a few steamed buns (they're especially known for those). The congee, noodles, and siu mai were all fine--very standard, not particularly memorable. In fairness, they weren't what I came for in the first place, so that probably shaped my expectations. The real standouts were the pork asado siopao and the chicken deluxe (bola bola). Both have Filipino roots, and the siopao especially brought a comforting sense of familiarity--soft, fluffy, and filled with that sweet-savory pork that felt like home. Those alone made the visit worthwhile. They actually have quite a few other Filipino influenced items like hopia and puto which was surprising. Ironically, it was only after we left that I noticed the sign on the window highlighting their most popular items--exactly what first-timers should probably stick to. I had ordered a few pastries to go with the intention of trying them later... and then completely forgot about them, which I'm still a little sad about. Overall, it was a good visit with a clear lesson learned: go in with a game plan and order the hits. It's a beloved Vancouver institution for a reason, and I'd definitely recommend stopping by--just know it's cash only and do a little pre-order research so you can make the most of it. I'd give it more like a 3.5 vs a 4 star, but I'm already planning a redo focused purely on the classics.

However, what truly disappointed me was the poor service. Even though the restaurant was not busy, the dishes were served very slowly. The first 2 dishes came out fast, but the later 2 dishes came out after 45 min. When we asked for additional rice and water, we had to wait an unusually long time. Throughout the meal, we felt neglected. It was hard not to feel that the level of service was noticeably indifferent, possibly because we did not order any high-priced seafood or premium dishes. For a restaurant at this price point, the service was simply unacceptable. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. I would not return and would not recommend it.
