The comment made me a bit nervous to settle a contract -- and I told Dave to please pay attention to the wiring in the attic (which was my concern). After the AMAZING experience my family had with KinTech, I wanted to leave my first-ever comment on Yelp for Dave and his company. I am not an easy customer :). KinTech is a local Long Island company and its service (both its job and customer service) felt local/neighborly. When Dave (the somewhat hard-to-believe soft-voiced manager I had talked to on the phone) stopped by for the estimate visit, my wife and I were taken aback positively for his relaxed, friendly dealing (he had a new kind of tea with us :), while sharing details and options). In response to our situation of having already dumped too much money on prior upgrades, he found an affordable configuration for our transition from baseboard heating only to central heating/cooling, including the latest tech and conveniences. But our 5 stars are not just for the quality of mateiral and work and the professionalism of the people who came in our house (Dave sent the most friendly pair of men we've had working in the house). Dave is different. Dave communicated in the most professional and friendly way among maybe 20 contractors we've worked with in the past decade on Long Island as home owners (he reminded us of the genteel South, without the occasional lack of experience with diverse customers LOL). We didn't sense any dishonesty (very common in most home repair/service businesses esp. up here in New York) and that made us very comfortable with Dave. He did ask for a few extra days when he had to juggle different projects, including his gramdma's house that needed urgent attention. But he didn't play games with us, didn't treat us like however the "market demand tells" (as one contractor blurted out recently), and he LISTENED. This guy is something. Give him a chance, and if the project at our home was an exception, share a different perspective. The project was finished on time, pitch perfect, and Dave said he's even willing to come back and calibrate the air flow and add an extra vent. We were already surprised when he sent his guys to double check and clean up. So, I guess customers should communicate our demands and give hard working people a chance to rectify small things after they do all the major and difficult work right (it's a different matter if someone messes up major things or uses a generally problematic approach). As a Long Islander, it makes me proud to see people like this reflect our culture -- not the weirdos especially of the older generation who take customers for granted (I've come across a bit too many of those, including among the younger business owners). I would love to see KinTech grow and to maintain the very, very, very friendly professionalism that Dave has established. KinTech and Dave and the two friendly guys all get 5 stars and a big invisible smiley for the phenomenal job in December 2021.

Fast forward a few months in, I noticed a leak coming from my office ceiling fan. We reached out to Jen Air again and requested Josh. He showed up, on time and resolved the issues. I wish every service company operated like Napolitano Heating and Air Conditioning.  I have a 7…read moreyear old Navien tankless water heater that was beginning to worry me.  Some of the parts on the manifold became corroded and I got nervous traveling on vacation with the concern I'd come home to a flooded basement.  Navien stopped manufacturing the manifold. How a 7 year old part can be considered obsolete, doesn't speak well of Navien, but that's another issue. I was told by a prior Navien certified plumber that I should replace the unit for 10k or he could try to custom build the manifold, however the plumber didn't exude the confidence that Mike did and his quote was also a lot higher than Napolitano's.  Once hired, Mike was a man on a mission.  He not only rebuilt the manifold, he made it look easy (trust me it was not) and on top of this, he was meticulous, kind and patient.  Prior to leaving he noticed a problem on my baseboard bleeders and replaced them for a nominal fee. My heater is working like a charm, I am very pleased. I trust Mike implicitly with heating and air conditioning systems, he's done a couple of repairs on my aging system always for a fair price.

And when you subtract out the unlicensed, uninsured people from your list your choices are minimal. I wanted to replace our thermostat after a slight remodel. The old one was dingy and couldn't be salvaged. While we were at it we decided to add WiFi connectivity beacuse, well we don't really have a true need for that but since a thermostat was only a few dollars more i figured, why not. After examining the current thermostat and the wiring at the HVAC unit i was convinced the the job was beyond my skill level. Having seen Soundview shop every day on the way to the gym an knowing a couple of them work out in the same gym, I thought I'd give the local team a shot. They said they would send someone by to look at the job to give an estimate. The estimator cam by and looked and tinkered with the system for about 45 minutes. in the end he said my control panel wasn't compatible with new generation thermostats. This wasn't hard to believe, we know that the builder relied on a lot of "closeout specials" when building the house 20 years ago. He also mentioned that we may need a new damper. He stated he didn't have the control panel on the truck but he would go back to the office and have them contact me with a quote for the work. He gave me a ballpark but said they office would need to validate once the sourced the exact parts. I agreed and indicated I would wat for the quote even asking how long the job would take. I paid the service call fee on the spot and thanked the technician. Well it's been over a month and I'm still waiting for a callback with a quote (not really anymore). maybe I have a unique facial tick that coincidently tells people to "ignore this man. Sherri contacted me through an email and quoted me $680. + tax For a $148. Wholesale inducer motor ?? Now , i work in retail and i fully understand between wholesale and retail , but to gouge 450% is disgusting! I won't be using Soundview any time soon as they showed their true colors right away on a new customer. I had the work done locally for 1/2 the cost.
