WOAH!!!! This place is a grown man candy store. They have jerky, freshly made kolaches, sauces, steaks, and so much more. They also apparently will process your wild game for you too. I bought a brisket kolache which was phenomenal. The best thing I ate in Texas on my 9-day trip. I got some jerky which was delicious and perfect to have in my backpack while hiking in Big Bend. I also bought some cherry salsa and bourbon bacon bbq sauce. I didn't tear into them until I got home. My only regret is I didn't buy more. I need to make another road trip to Texas and next time I will bring my cooler and max out my credit card. read more

Pretty strong butcher shop with some good and unique items like their Parisa which is basically A working man's version of beef tartar. I will drive out of my way to get it as I head into South Texas. They also have Alsatian style sausage, which is a nice change from the German and Polish and Czech sausages that we have in abundance in Texas due to our history (All well appreciated!) I drive to Castroville specifically for this meat market. I go there to buy jerky. They do have one of the best I have ever tried! They also have a raw meat called "Parisa" which is similar to a beef tartare! that's another highlight of the trip! Throughout the years it grew and now it is busy every time I go. Had to swing into Dzuiks after seeing the roadtripper highlighting the raw meat parisa. The offer regular or spicy- the spicy has jalapeño in it. They provide a sleeve of crackers for you also. It was really good and unique! I think it would be a great snack or party dish to bring. The store also offered a lot of other local foods, snacks, pickled items, jerkies, and meats. I have driven by this place so many times and finally made a stop in. Walking in, it was so much larger than I thought. Two large rooms that contained well organized sections of various jerky, deli items, sausages, snacks, special meats, marinated meats, preserves, condiments, seasonings, candles, etc.... They had a large jerky section and I decided to check it out. I inquired to the girl behind the counter which was the most popular and she stated the beef. So, I tried a sample of the beef and the spicy turkey which looked pretty good. I didn't care for the beef , it was really tough, but the spicy turkey was delicious! Slightly tender, with a good amount of spice. Jerky prices were kinda high ranging from $24.99- $35.99/pound. I ordered a half pound to go. The reviews are raving about the real beef jerky not the fake stuff in the markets. We head on over even though it's half hour away driving 70+ one way. We get there and I was blown away. I mean Honolulu in general does not have this type of meat market. It's cool, it's stocked, there are tons of stuff even elixirs for health! There are meats and sausages, and bacon wrapped quail. There are sauces, chilis, honey, I mean this place rules!!!!! And.... There's an entire counter of beautiful, delicious beef jerky. Just looking at it.... This is the real, good stuff!!!!! They will vacuum wrap a huge slab of meat and you get to taste everything before you buy. Is it good? Man it's so good! The spicy is just spicy enough. The teriyaki is good. How good? Do not buy their prepackaged beef skirt (fajita) meat. After buying a few pounds and taking them home to Grill, it came down to be a waste of good money at those prices. The meat just fell apart and was very mushy in texture. What ever it was marinated in completely ruined the meat. I Will be trying the over the counter meat selection here soon but very doubtful, if they think the quality of the prepackaged meat was good enough to sell then I don't expect the butchers selection to be any better. read more

From the first bite to the very last I found it to be delicious. Very well made with incredible flavor. We wanted to love Dzuik's and, for a while, we did. However, there's only so many times you can mess up before you should start to expect negative feedback -- and it seems like the owner, management and my family disagree on that number. They've lost whole animals we've dropped off for processing which, is honestly pretty impressive. That was Strike 1. We returned. Mistakes happen and they attempted to make it right. We wanted to support local. Strike 2 was when they lost my 11 year old daughter's first doe hide. We had it marked to keep - and made sure it was marked when we dropped it off - as it was her very first deer and we promised we'd get the hide tanned for her to hold on to. We brought that to their attention with the hopes that they'd get it figured out. Again, super frustrating but mistakes happen. We just wanted them to find it or make it right. Strike 3 was the entire process following that. If you're going to be an honest and well received business, you have to make it right when you or your employees foul up. We've received nothing but the run around from the manager of the processing facility, Jeff. He has lied, he has given us the run around, he has avoided everything completely. Now my husband and mother in law are getting calls from the owner telling them that their reviews, stating the facts, are unfair and need to be taken down. That honestly causes me to also question the accuracy and validity of the ratings and reviews listed elsewhere. I was planning on staying out of this but no longer. Sir, telling a customer that their review isn't acceptable after you dropped the ball is what is not acceptable. We gave you repeat opportunities to fix what your team messed up well before a review was ever written. If you don't like negative feedback, the burden lies on YOU to do better. It does not lie on your customer to just deal with your shortcomings. Ultimately the issue wasn't the mistakes, though multiple for one family in a short period of time IS a red flag. The issue at the heart of our frustration is the unwillingness to handle it appropriately and professionally. Schott's should be thanking you for securing new customers for them. read more

I was recommended to bring my wild game here for processing. I've got a really large hog that I brought in and I gave them my order for how I wanted the meat processed. My previous processor had always done truly amazing work so with the recommendation, I kind of expected similar. a couple of things so far have not been to the same level. I had experienced at other game processors. First, their chili, grind or coarse grind of the meat is really really course. I found this a little disappointing. Second, their breakfast sausage seasoning was not an appealing flavor for me. I think if I use them again, it will be for doing straight cuts rather than upgrades. read more

They have unique flavors (blueberry maple sausage), fresh ingredients in their food, and it's all GOOD. I unfortunately have a pineapple allergy which most companies use when they make beef jerky and by the grace of god, their stuff was pineapple free! The only con I have is that the turkey jerky we got was super dry however I forgot all about that issue when I tasted the beef chuck jerky. It was the juiciest, most flavorful piece of jerky I have ever had in my life. We got two of their salsas: cherry and apple because let's be honest, I would have never thought to make those fruits into salsas but holy cow, they were so good! The cherry one could literally be sitting in a dish on the table for thanksgiving and be used as a sauce for the turkey, on top of corn bread, or even just ate with chips. What a sausage fest! This meat house is the wurst! They've got it all! Castroville is an Alsatian type place, so they do sausages in an Alsatian sort of way, with varieties of sausages that I've never seen anywhere else. However, the guys who opened this place are from Poland, so they still stick to the Polish sausage methods. My favorite encased meat offered here is the green chorizo. I think it's cilantro in there with some jalapenos. It's amazing. Their blueberry maple sausage looked enticing as well. They've also got a wide selection of jerkeys, steaks, mustards, pickled stuff- like eggs. They've got two butcher counters set up for the different products and were able to help me get stuff picked out quickly and wrapped. The jerkey I got was unlike the Buc-ee's stuff that I'm used to. This was moist, chewy yet soft, with delicious flavors. Much better. These guys will also process your game animals that you have hunted. Just drag 'em in, and they'll turn them into sausages, links, fillets- you name it. They'll dress up a whole animal and even spice it up. Be sure to check out the grills out in front- serious pieces of metal to get your grillin' on. Overall, this place has amazing cuts of meat. I've heard of people driving hours to get here for their sausages. If you're passing through Castroville, you gots to get the meats. read more

I warned my bf about Dzuik's while taking a trip to Castroville this past weekend. When I say "warned" I really mean,"DUDE you're gonna flip out over all of the meats, jerky and meats and jerky and flavor and it's just so awesome!" He was like "Whatever, babe" and totally blew me off. In fact I'm pretty sure he forgot about even stopping until I swerved quickly to the left and dramatically pulled into the parking lot. I forgot how it just pops up out of no where after you get into Castroville. So we get in and we just missed a huge crowd. I can see everyone in the check out line and absolutely no one in line for the jerky. We pick out some pickled quail eggs, some quail jerky, some cheese and more sausage and walk around a little bit showing off all the beauty in this shop. I could see us coming back for the stuff in the refrigerators. Bacon wrapped pork tenderloin? Quail wrapped with jalapeno and bacon wings? Whaaaat!? That stuff looks amazing. My first time there and I loved it. I'll be honest. I wasn't impressed with the beef jerky selection, but that's perhaps because they had so little left. I went later in the day and their display just had a few options left. I did however stock up on , prepackaged meat sticks, and a whole range of jarred goods. Spicy pickles BBQ Sauces Pasta Sauces I even picked up some Tamales. I'm not saying everything is a 5 star item, but it's worth trying them. The prices are very reasonable and you can grab a whole bunch of different things to at least try them once and pick your favorites. We love coming here!!! When ever we are going to BBQ for just us or with all the familia we come here for our fajitas, ribeyes & marinated chicken. It is always so nice and juicy and soft. Not chewy at all! I don't like needing a toothpick after the first bite lol. They have a large verity of meats. Even frozen options to take home and cook for later.
